High risk pregnancy due to herpes….?
I got herpes when I was 15 years old and very irresponsible, am now 21 and 38 weeks pregnant. When I first found out I started to take Valtrex and noticed it only made thing much much more worse for me it made the outbreak longer, more often and just seemed to do nothing for me. I myself just stop taking them altogether and over the years have noticed I only get two outbreaks a year and its only for around three days, its more of an inconvience instead of a painful process. Now since I am pregnant my doctor put me on these which I haven taken since I was 15, and am now getting a small outbreak (havent had any this whole pregnancy) and I’m wondering if anyone out there is the same? I think this valtrex cause it to be worse before better and it dosent work. Also has anyone ever had an outbreak this close to delivery and still have it vaginally? I will not put my child at risk, but also wish I could have it natural if possible.
thanks cookie monster have not heard of any other type of medication. I’m following the doctors orders as planned but still wonder if I have a small outbreak now and it goes away within the next 2-3 days if I could give birth vaginaly as early as a week or two, as long as there are no signs of an outbreak?
Michelle answers:
No i have never had any sti or herpes or anything like that
But some medications make your condition worse before curing the symptoms
So i personally would keep on with the medications

Steven asks…
Epidural or Natural for some one with weak hips/lower back?
This is my first pregnancy and I am 6 months a long and I have had back & hip problems from years ago (I’m 27 yrs old) when I would travel and lug around heavy luggage at the airport etc. it would go out. I noticed unfortunately that it goes out when my uterus is stretching or when I am experiencing braxton hicks. I have a midwife and I am considering natural birth for sure but beings how my lower back and hip are very weak (I’m petite as well) would that even be a wise decision? Would l be feeling a lot of pain? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Michelle answers:
My best advice is to be flexible about whether you will go with the epidural or not. My choice was that I would try it without the epidural but if I decided that I wanted one while in labor I was to get it.
I was in a car wreck when I was 16 that caused me to lose all the cartiledge in one hip and about 70% in the other hip. They both slip out very easily and I’ve had terrible sciatic pain ever since. While I was pregnant I suffered a little more than normal, but while I was in labor my right hip went out and even though I knew it had it wasn’t as bad as the actual pain of contractions. I waited until I was 5cm dilated and then asked for the epidural.
If you have the option of a water birth, you might consider that. It’ll help take the pressure off your back and hips. My hospital doesn’t offer that.
I’m really glad I got the epidural, even though I was pretty set against it before labor. The last hour and a half of my labor were actually a lot of fun. I could talk to people, I could catch my breath, I could laugh. I wasn’t out of my mind with pain when my daughter came into the world and it was the most amazing moment of my life.
I’m now pregnant with my second child and I plan on trying it without the epidural again but if I change my mind while in labor that’s perfectly okay, too.
Good luck!

How soon after a miscarriage can i have sex and try again?
I began my miscarriage on sunday 7/17/11. My fiance and i are very upset about the loss and would like to try again asap. I am 23 years old and the miscarriage was natural without d&c. I feel like the best way to feel better about losing my child is to be pregnant again. If you have been in this situation, please let me know when you were able to have a successful pregnancy after your miscarriage.
Michelle answers:
