Mary asks…
VBAC after Csection, how long should you wait to get pregnant again?
So I had unscheduled csection little over a week ago and I just feel miserable about the whole thing, I can’t do much for myself, all I do is sleep and sit in the living room, feed the baby. Anyway I am really depressed, disappointed. Both me and my baby came out healthy and that’s the most important thing. Anyway, my question is with my next pregnancy, which I don’t plant to have for another 2 years or so, if say I get induced again, is it true I’ll have csection since I already had one? I read that if you get induced when you already went through a csection you have to have another csection. This makes me really sad and upset to be honest, because I really don’t want another csection. Also I was told if you go for VBAC my chances of having my uterus rupture is very high. This is another thing that terrifies me, and say if your uterus ruptures, can you have more children or you can’t? and can it be fixed? I plan to have more children, and I am thinking about going to a birth center but I was told if you wanna attempt a VBAC is it’s crucial you go to a hospital where they can help with emergency just in case it happens while giving birth? I am clueless since this was my first baby, I did everything I could to have a natural birth but things didn’t go my way and that frustrates me. I am helpless and crippled and I hate being dependent on others even if that’s my husband or mother… It’s only been a week and half since the birth of my baby and I hate not being able to do anything for myself, my recovery is going well but I still have a long way before I am back to my old self or able to do things like cleaning and cooking for my family. I was healthy, very active 25 year old and now I feel nothing like my old self and I don’t think I’ll feel that way ever again. I can’t even sleep on my side, I have to sleep on my back and even that when I wake up it feels as if my inside is falling out. My biggest fear is needing more csections or not being able to have more children in the future and this terrifies me… In another word c-section destroyed a dream for me. A dream of having a natural birth and I can’t get over it to be honest….
Michelle answers:
Inductions are more likely to lead to C-sections in any case. This is why if you are trying for a VBAC they don’t like to induce you unless necessary. They want your body to do most of the work to avoid a C-section.
As far as uterine rupture goes, the risk is actually very low but it also depends on the type of incision you got. I myself got a ‘bikini cut’ and the risk is low with those. But it is something the doctors and nurses will be prepared for either way since there is some risk.
I know how you feel, I really do. My son was an emergency section and the first few weeks were hell for me. I couldn’t do a lot as far as caring for him went and I hated that. We recently moved and my new doctor has given me the option of a VBAC and I’m going for it. My son will be around 2 1/2 when that time comes and I believe they like to have at least 2 years between babies if you’re going to try for a VBAC.
If this is something you wish to do with future children research it a bit. There are tons of support groups and blogs out there with women in our shoes.

John asks…
What do you think about this?
I am 20 years old and overweight. Other than that I am extremely healthy. I walk daily and eat the proper foods (meaning I follow the food pyramid guide). My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant now for two years and I have been checked three times to ensure than I can get pregnant. The doctors tell me nothing is wrong with me and I have been pregnant once before but lost the pregnancy at around 8 to 10 weeks without cause. It was a natural miss-carriage and only required an internal ultrasound rather than a D&C. I have yet to get pregnant since then. I was reading online and found that lack of vitamin D interferes with fertility do you think this could be the reason why we have not gotten pregnant? I have a vitamin d deficiency and am not taking supplements for it. At the time I was pregnant I was on the pills, but ran out a little before I miss-carried (I assume the vitamin d would have still been in my system so this, I think, is not what caused the miss-carriage).
Michelle answers:
Miscarriages that early are common. There’s no usually anything that you could do to prevent that. If you already know that you need vitamin D then you should be taking it. Take it whether you are trying to get pregnant or not. If you know you have this problem always keep an extra bottle of it around at all times so if you run out you can take the other one for a few days until you can pick up another one. As far as the food pyramid I hope you are following the current ones at http://www.mypyramid.gov/ and not the old ones. The original food pyramids are actually following the same diet guide lines they use to fatten up pigs.
Besides for the vitamin D, get an ovulation test kit to find out when you are actually fertile as well as if and when you are ovulating. Many things can effect your fertility, but first you should take take of these two things and then go from there. Chart your ovulation and cycles and if it turns out that you are only ovulating ever other month or few months then you can take that information to your doctor and go from there.
Good luck to you.

I didn’t even read all that…
It is doing the animal good, and it doesn’t hurt them. They’re sedated for a while during the surgery, and they’re given pain relievers later, which is why they’re droopy and act tired. It’s the owner’s choice. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. You’re not changing anything by posting this. By spaying a female dog, it prevents a lot of health issues, and it /saves/ the lives of future puppies. Puppies have no soul before they are born – they don’t exist. It is better for something to not exist than to suffer or experience life and then die shortly after. Most puppies born end up as either orphans or in shelters, where they are eventually put to sleep when not adopted – and mutts or bad breeding lines can result in early developmental problems and bad conformation, which later leads to severe pain for the dog and it will either die on its own or have to be put down. And by neutering male dogs, it obviously prevents puppies being born.
Guess what? My dog isn’t spayed! What about that!
My dog has excellent show and police dog lines. Her conformation is wonderful and she is built great. By breeding her, we end up with healthy puppies and we KNOW they are going to get good homes. Bad breeding can end up, as I said before, with very bad results. Most dogs out there should not be bred, for the welfare of the future puppies, and even the mom. And if someone doesn’t want to breed their dog, they have their own reasons. A lot of people don’t have the time to take care of them, clean up after them, and sell them. I see you have no idea how the real breeding business industry is – its close to a full-time job.
And for reference to others – here is a quote from one of her questions (freaking out about her dog being pregnant.) “thanks for the help! By the way, im only an 12 year old girl asking for my pregnant dog!! Hhe thanks again!!”
You’re just a kid. You don’t know everything.
Maria asks…
Just found out I’m 35 weeks pregnant?
I’m a 18 year old college student. I was on contraception for 2 years (the pill) and forgot it sometimes and obviously about 8 months ago my boyfriend got me pregnant as I’ve just found out I’m 35 weeks pregnant. He is very excited although it was a shock to us both, he says it was the best Christmas present ever but I’m still adjusting to the idea. I’ll be 35 weeks and 5 days now, found out last week when I went to my doctor complaining of stomach pains, movements in my abdomen and back ache. Funny thing is i’m not even showing apart from a little bump but I just thought I was putting on weight due to the pill! The doctor examined me and asked if I had my period recently and I told him I hadn’t had it for a while but I thought it was just the pill. He asked me to do a pregnancy test and it came up positive, he said I would be around 18 weeks after feeling around my stomach and checking the baby’s heartbeat and sent me for a scan that afternoon, I felt devastated, I’m only 18 and the first thought that popped into my mind when the test came up positive was abortion which I feel guilty about now. When I went to the hospital, I met the midwife and she told me I’m 35 weeks! Was also told I’m having a baby girl when I asked the sex. I’m very scared about labor and birth now, my midwife told me to phone her whenever I needed to ask anything as I’ve got a lot to learn for the next few weeks, also I’m going to antenatal classes starting in 2 days. I just don’t know what to do with myself, I don’t feel that I want this baby but in a way I love this baby and would do anything to protect her. I have happy moments but I have sad ones too. My family say that they will support me but they are also very shocked and trying to adjust to the idea. I want to look forward to my baby’s arrival but I’m so scared. I always said I would want a natural home birth for my first baby but I don’t know if my midwife would let me do this as I’ve found out so late in my pregnancy, I’m going to see her again tomorrow but I don’t like he idea of having my daughter in hospital. I also don’t like the idea of a stranger handing her to me, I want to be the first to hold her. Is this possible? Also, how can I look forward to motherhood? I want to be excited like my boyfriend but I’m finding it hard although I love my daughter already. Has anyone else found out about being pregnant later on in pregnancy?
Michelle answers:
Did you know there is a show I did not know I was pregnant. I found out I was pregnant when I was fours but I was TTC for three years, so I test after one day late. But my sister found out she was pregnant when she was 25 weeks. At first the doctor said she was having twins because she was alright showning but then they said it was because she was already 25 weeks along.
