Pregnancy, Pcos and just plain old frustrated Nurse OBGYN please?
I found out that I have PCOS about 11 years ago after on and off periods, thankfully six years ago now I became pregnant with my son. He was born premature at six months and as of today nobody has a definite answer as to why. I do have periods that come regular at times and then back to the old once every three months. I am now 31 and totally ready to have another one I am beyond frustrated at this point so here is some details and would love some feedback.
We have used no Birth Control since I have had my son (6 years ago)
I have tried Rasberry Tea and Chaste berry tea both helped bring the period back
I am desperately trying to not go on a hormone replacement therapy so is there something else I should try?? Natural approach???
Do you still ovulate even when you don’t have a period??
My last menstral cycle started on 4/20/11 we had intercourse every other day until May 10th I have had no period yet and two preggo test came back negative.
If all else fails I am planning on going to the doctor sometime in July for some extra help, but please if you know of anything that I should try before then please respond.
Michelle answers:
The most important thing when trying to conceive is TIMING. You must track your ovulation and have sex in the days before, day of, and a day after. Even doing so, humans only have a 20-25% chance of conceiving, so the odds are stacked against us anyway.
I can’t speak to any natural methods to regulate your period as I’ve never tried any but I do know that ovulation occurs about 14 days before your period. If you are not having a period for 3 months at a time, then you’re not ovulating during that time…..only about 14 days before your period arrives. This makes tracking ovulation very difficult, but I always had irregular periods and I found that charting my temperature really helped.
The other possibility is that there is some issue causing you (as a couple) to be infertile. Blocked tubes, hormone imbalance, fibroids, cysts, poor sperm quality, etc. If you have not been using birth control for 6 years and have not fallen pregnant in that time, you really should see your doctor soon – at the very least for a fertility work up to see if there is some barrier to you conceiving. Just because you have successfully conceived in the past doesn’t mean that things can’t change. Secondary infertility is quite common.
Good luck!

My rabbit has made a nest of hair for her false pregnancy. To avoid woolblock, how soon do I remove the nest?
My 8-9 month old indoor female rabbit has been building a nest of her stomach hair and grass. She has never been around a buck, so I’m assuming a false pregnancy. Tonight I noticed hair sticking out of her mouth and when I pulled on it, a large wad of hair came out! Three large wads later her mouth was cleared out. I’ve never had a rabbit before and I’m afraid she’ll choke on it or get a woolblock. I give her plenty of natural hay and Timothy hay cubes, but I’m terrified of woolblock. I’ve read numerous things that mentioned not leaving her hair lying around, so how soon after she’s passed the false pregnancy do I leave her hair lying around in her cage? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Do I keep pulling the hair out of her mouth when its just sitting in there?
Michelle answers:
Throw away the hair. Inspect the rabbit. Sometimes losing hair doesn’t just mean she’s pregnant, it means that she can also get affected by mites and bugs.

Any good tummy tightening tips for a new mom?
My second child is 4 months old now and I would like to start toning up my tummy. My first baby was a c-section but this birth was natural so I have recovered alot faster and gone down to 111lbs from 145lbs. (I was 108lbs before pregnancy)
After my first baby I did pilates which I really enjoyed, but I have recently moved abroad and can’t find any reasonably priced classes in my area. Also I have alot more loose skin to contend with than last time and am thinking I may need a stricter toning plan (even though I know I will never really get rid of the loose skin). Any suggestions will be most welcome, keeping in mind I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old to look after, lol. Thanks!
Michelle answers:
First of all, CONGRATUALTIONS!!!! And thank you, you wrote clearly and with proper grammar, unlike some people… Well, my mom does yoga in the mornings before I wake up, and she also includes sit ups in her early morning exercise…. And if you still want to do pilates, you don’t need an overpriced instructor to help you! Just get a DVD and pop it in while the two year old is taking a nap, or playing with the dad….. Let him do it for a change

How to make my hair thicker?
My hair has always been thin. It got a bit thicker during pregnancy but I lost a lot of hair after my baby was 5 months old so ended up with even thinner hair. Now my hair slowly got back to the same thickness with before. Does any one know any natural way to make hair thicker?
Michelle answers:
One thing that can make a difference is your iron intake. While consuming way too much iron isn’t good for you, it is known that being anemic will make your hair (and fingernails) thinner.
Next time you get a blood test, pay attention to your hemoglobin counts.
