Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

John asks…

Sore breasts for 2-3 weeks now, negative pregnancy test??????

My husband and i would like to conceive however I have secondary amenorrhea, I had a period induced by a provera challenge 10mg for 7 days january 20th..My doctor then suggested i try natural progesterone cream for 10 days the last 10 days of my cycle, anyways 3 days into taking the cream i started my period again feb 16th, i used it the whole 10 days in march though i did not start my period, I know it’s normal for woman with amenorrhea however my breasts have been slightly sore the past 2-3 weeks, I took a preg test 1 week after my missed period then again a couple of days ago and both came out negative. My breasts never hurt, not even befor my period. The only times my breasts would be sore is when i was pregnant unfortunately i lost them..I have not gotten a blood test yet though i have a appointment with an infertility specialist april 2nd..Do you think their is a chance i still might be preg even though both tests were neg? was suppose to start period march14th, im 2 weeks late

Michelle answers:

The hormones your taking could be causing your tenderness but im not real sure about that… You should ask the doctor or pharmacy about that. I took several pregnancy tests that came up negative, then after 2 months without a period I went to the doctor he did a blood test… And yes! I was pregnant!

George asks…

Why is this hurting me soo much???this is regarding blood test for pregnancy..?

Well based from my other question which you can read in my questions..I got my results back and unfortunately they came out negative, but my progesterone levels were elevated(3.3) they told me my levels were high because i ovulated and should be expecting my period anywhere from a couple days to 2 weeks however last month i was taking a natural progesterone cream and i forgot to mention that to them, so what i would like to know is could it have been the progesterone cream i took last month and that is why my levels are high could it be possible that i did not ovulate??
My husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for over a year and this month i though was it, i had lining on my uterus, i am 3 weeks late, my breasts have been hurting the past 3 weeks as well, i have been eating alot more, urinating more, been really bloated ect but as usual the tests were negative and i feel this time has hurt me alot more i am so upset i don’t know what to do:(

Michelle answers:

To my knowledge, progesterone supplements can definitely cause pregnancy symptoms, elevated temps and a delayed period.

I do not think it’s a good idea to take progesterone until you have confirmed ovulation. Progesterone can delay or prevent ovulation if taken before you ovulate, as far as I know.

Unless you know you have issues w/ low progesterone, I wouldn’t take it. It can disrupt your cycle, sometimes a lot. It can be very beneficial for low progesterone in the second half of the cycle, but shouldn’t be taken otherwise. If you have confirmed low progesterone (especially by charting basal body temperatures for at least a few cycles), then I’d recommend taking progesterone only after you have a thermal shift.

If you are not already doing so, I’d begin to track your cervical fluid as well. Cervical fluid is essential to conception. Fertile cervical fluid can keep the sperm alive in the woman’s body for up to 5 days waiting for ovulation. Otherwise, the sperm die in 30min-4hrs. A lack of or poor quality CF can definitely delay conception.

It raises estrogen and decreases luteinizing hormone. Formononetin, a phytoestrogen is known to be an abortifacient.

In less you are trying to cause a miscarriage, stop taking it.

Richard asks…

When to test for new pregnancy after m/c?

I’ve asked this before but I don’t seem to be getting a lot of responses. I will award a best answer.

I had an early, natural m/c on September 3rd. I was told that it would be safe to TTC right away, as my HCG levels dropped quickly and everything was passed naturally.

My period (typically, although I know the cycle’s messed up right now) should have arrived on October 1st. Today, I would be 5 days late (again, assuming it’s my regualr cycle). I tested the day my period was due and got a BFN.

My question is, when should I test? Please share your experiences if you got pregnant right after a m/c and before a period.

Thank you all in advance.

Michelle answers:

Well my doctor told me it could take 4-6 weeks after a M/C for your period to come back. I would wait about a week and a half. And do a blood test so that you will know sooner especially if your high risk. Start taking folic acid also, it could help you concieve faster. Good Luck.
