I’m 37 wks about to dip into 38wks I would like to know about naturally inducing my Labor.?
I would like to know about everyones experience about their induction more about the natural ways. I want to try and avoid chemical inducing if I can which will be scheduled to do soon. I read everything I can and learn as much as I can and of course if there is high risk threat to my child I wouldn’t do it so that would also be why I’m asking people for the experience. I am on my last string with this pregnancy I cry myself to sleep every night and I have the worst braxton hicks as well as I’m 60% effeced and 1cm dilated. I understand every threat to certain unductions so please don’t lecture me just help me by telling me your exprience.

I need to know the difference between the two?
I have 2 pregnancies in which I was induced with both. I am 35 weeks pregnant with my third and my doctor is talking about a possible induction at 37 weeks.
How many of you experienced induced labors and had a natural labor also? can you please tell me your experience with both? Thks
Michelle answers:
My first 2 were natural onset and my last was induced.
To be honest I much more preferred the natural onset as things seems to progress at a regular normal course.
With inducing the medication would trigger small scale but rapid contractions. While they were not as painful as the contractions I had with the first 2 there seemed to be no break between them.
This seemed to last forever as I was just in this room with nothing to do and things were not progressing. At least with natural onset you can do other things until the contractions get more intense and closer together, this helped the time go smoother.

I’m looking forward to labor…Am I crazy?
With my first, I really didn’t have fears about labor but I did use drugs (not an epidural) when I couldn’t handle the pain anymore. I was induced with her and everyone has been telling me that induction is much more intense than natural labor. After she was born, I told my (then) boyfriend that I didn’t think I could ever go through labor and delivery again.
So with my son, I want to make everything as natural as possible. It’s been a perfectly healthy pregnancy (with my daughter, I had toxemia, which is why I was induced) so I want to avoid induction and drugs. I absolutely don’t want an epidural because I think it’ll take away from the experience and I want the full experience. Maybe I’m just so excited about having this baby that I don’t care about the labor part, I just want it to start because I know that means my baby is coming. Does anyone else feel this way??
It is true that labor is different for every woman and some have a much harder! I don’t put any woman down for using pain meds or an epidural. I think I just like the thought of knowing I have more control because I went through it already and I know what I do want and what I don’t want. With my first, i just didn’t know what to expect so it was all a surprise and I kind of let other people make decisions for me.
Michelle answers:
You’re not crazy. That’s a great attitude to have. Fear of the pain can make the experience worse, IMO.
I was induced with my 2nd son and the contractions were horrendous. I didn’t want to use any pain meds but the pain got so bad I caved. I really wanted to do it without induction or pain meds but it just wasn’t in the cards. If I have a 3rd I’m using a midwife!
Chris asks…
How large is too large on an ultrasound?
I have a thyroid problem so now that I am 35 weeks I go to see the specialist twice a week. When I am there they do a sonogram and fetal monitoring. They only do his measurements every two weeks and the rest the of the sonograms they check his growth and things like that. Well I had a sonogram done this week (35 weeks) and it said he weighed almost six pounds. At 33 weeks he weighed four pounds. So that means he is gaining a pound a week. if he continues at this rate and I have him at 40 weeks he will be 11 lbs! I know the sonogram can be wrong up to two pounds later on in the pregnancy. I am going to mention this to my OB, but I was wondering at what weight should we start thinking about early induction? I want to have a natural delivery and I am quite small framed, I don’t think I could deliver a 9 lbs baby realistically. With a thyroid disorder it is possible for him to grow a lot more than normal. We will have another measurement done at 37 weeks, how much should he weight then, and how much is too much at that stage?
Michelle answers:
With my 3rd, she measured “big” (around 9 lbs) at 38 1/2 weeks. I too am small framed and have had difficult deliveries in the past, so we induced. She turned out to be normal size (7lb. 7 oz.). BUT, better safe than sorry. As long as you are “full term” I would think it would be safe to induce. But that’s always up to the doc. I’d wait until at least 38 weeks to be sure lungs are developed enough.
