Nancy asks…

How common it is to find E-Coli in semen? How can it be eradicated? Can it hinder natural pregnancy?

Michelle answers:

WHO criteria lays down a count of 20 million good sperms as sufficient to have normal pregnancy. A couple is infertile only if pregnancy doesn’t occur after two years of unprotected consummation of marriage.

E. Coli is the most common organism for urinary infection and is not something to be scared of having. The most common cause of E. Coli infection in young females is sexual activity.

The most common cause of pus cells in semen is chronic prostatitis or seminal vesiculitis, a common affliction seen in upto 20% of the young population without many ill-effects.

You can use an antimicrobial agent to kill off the E.coli bacterium. New Silver Solution can do this easily, while not having any of the side-effects of antibiotics. In fact, antibiotics should never be used as a front-line cure for many infections as they can cause bacterial resistant strains to form.

You would need to take this solution for a period of about 3 months, the same time as an antibiotic treatment for eradication of E.coli.

E.coli can also cause respiratory tract and urinary tract infections. New Silver Solution has been proven to kill both at 2.5 ppm and 5 ppm respectively. (ppm = parts per million).

Happy New Year, I have a question about natural progesterone and pregnancy?

Okay my first m/c happenened in July and because I had low progesterone. I went and bought natural progesterone cream today and i want to see if it will enhance my progesterone production. My hubby and I do want to try to have a baby again. I just ovulated yesterday, so when I rub it in what happens? Do I use unitil my period starts or what? When should I stop taking it?? THanks guys.

Michelle answers:

I just answered your second question, but I thought I would add to this one that with progesterone cream, you insert it vaginally, like you would monistat cream for a yeast infection. Before doing this though, I would talk to your OBGYN about it. As I suggested in my answer to your 2nd question, your OB may have samples of a progesterone pill called Prometrium. I have used this after having a miscarriage and I now have a healthy baby girl. I am sorry for your loss. At least you know you can get pregnant and that you know why you miscarried so you can prevent it in the future. Best wishes to you.

Natural treatment of thrush in pregnancy; anyone tried yoghurt?

I’ve had thrush for about 5 weeks, with varying severity of symptoms because I’ve been using clotrimazole (canasten) and even tried the pessary. The pessary stopped symptoms fully for about a week, but now its back.

Has anyone tried using natural, unsweetened yoghurt internally, as a treatment for thrush in pregnancy? And did it work?

Michelle answers:

I had terrible thrush when i was about 6 months pregnant, my mum told me to use yoghurt i looked at her like she was crazy! But i gave it a go, it seem to work really well and certainly cooled everthing down for for me! I want to bed with a huge pantliner like a tena lady and just put loads on and inside its stinks by the morning but it did help me!
I hope my advice works good luck and congratulations x
