Robert asks…
What are the pro’s and cons of natural pregnancy?
I am unsure wether to have a natural Birth or a Epidural ( is that the word) LoL Later on in life.
What are the pro’s and cons and what hurts more?
what is safer for the baby?
xx
Michelle answers:
A natural birth will hurt the most.
Contractions are like really bad period cramps times a thousand, and at the same time the belly tightens up. Then when the baby starts coming out it will stretch you down there and you will feel it. It will probably tear or need an episiotomy (where they cut the skin so you don’t tear) and that will need stitches after wards.
Some women give birth without tearing and needing stitches, but some do.
It is safe for you and your baby to have a natural birth – that is how it has been done since Eve had her first child.
Having an epidural is a great option because you will not feel the pain at all.
It is an IV that is put in your back and it numbs you from the waist down and it does not wear off. Before putting the IV in, they give you a shot to numb it so it doesn’t hurt, and the shot is a small stinging/pinching, but after having all those contractions it does not even feel like anything.
You will be numb for the duration of the labor, and about an hour or so after birth. The doctor will stitch you up – if needed – while the epidural is still in, and you will not feel a thing.
Having an epidural does not mean that you and your baby will be sleepy and drugged up. I was fully alert when I gave birth to my daughter and so was she.
There are risks to having an epidural, and when the time comes your doctor can explain them to you, but they are rare. If you get someone who knows what they are doing then you will have no problems. And the risks can only affect you – it is completely safe for the baby if you have an epidural.
Also, some people may say that an epidural slows labor and increases pushing time, but that is not always true.
I had my daughter 5 hours after I got my epidural and I only pushed 7 times.
There are also other pain relief options during labor. You might want to look into them when the time comes to have a baby.
The best thing to do is to decide what is best for you.
I had an epidural and it made my labor and delivery a very pleasant experience. If I had not had the epidural it probably would have been the most excruciatingly painful experience I have ever gone through.
Contractions are real pain, and if you can not handle it then get the epidural. You do not get extra mommy points for going through the pain.

Nancy asks…
how does the natural pregnancy control method work?
My girlfriend and i want to do it but she allergic to any type of condoms and she doesn’t want to take pills or use the patch because it has latex too
Michelle answers:
You could use the pull out method but its not every effitive if you dont want her getting pregnat dont have sex. You dont have a good form of birth control. You could use spermasides (sp?) or i think they got the sponge for women or she would get and iud and iud is a device they would put in your gf urterus and its good for 5-10 years and it does not have laytex and its just as good as birth control or better. That would be the best thing for you to do if you dont want her pregnant good luck
🙂

Mary asks…
What are natural ways to prevent pregnancy?
I know abstinence is the number one way, but what are other natural ways? Is washing the vagina good? I also heard that drinking vinegar is another good way to prevent pregnancy for females?
Michelle answers:
How about using a condom!!!!! If you don’t, your stupid – simple as that.

Richard asks…
Can we have a healthy baby if I am HIV – and my partner is HIV + with a natural pregnancy?
I am looking for a professional answer. The risks if you may not know are low. I know alot on the subject so I would prefer an answer from an md.
Michelle answers:
I wouldn’t want to take the risk. Why are you with a partner who is HIV+. I think it’s such a scary risk for you and and any unborn children.
