Is there any hope for my 40 yr old sister to have a baby? She already tried IVF with no sucess?
My sister will be 41 this summer. She tried IVF once and it cost 15,000…and they have no more money to try again. Is there any way that she can have a baby at 41 years old…does anyone know of any natural sucess stories

I will tell you our personal experience.
I had trouble concieving naturally for 2 years. We saw our OBGYN first and he started several rounds of Clomid after he did an extensive work up. He check my tubes as well. After the Clomid failure he referred (you may not need a referral to see fertility specialist depending on your insurance) me to a fertility specialist.
We went to our first appt with the specialist which was basically just a consultation of our options. We decided to go straight into IVF since our insurance covered it. The first IVF cycle failed. The embryos were not of good quality in the first place so I kind of figured it would not work. We did one more cycle and this time they waited a couple of extra days for the follicles to mature the eggs a bit longer and viola, I had 3 quality embryos. We transferred 3 and ended up getting pregnant with 2. I am now 28 weeks pregnant with twins boys.
As far as cost it really depends on the clinic. Our insurance covered every bit of but looking back at the statements I think it was like over $10,000 dollar for one cycle. But many states have grants to help and also some clinics, like the one we went to, have financing with a down payment. I’m not sure about the cost of frozen embryos.
IVF can be an emotional rollercoaster, but then again you as well as I know that getting pregnant in generally can place a toll on on oneself. You will be giving yourself injections filled with horomones to help stimulate your ovaries and to prevent ovulation, because the doctor will extract the eggs from you and fertilize them in a lab. You will be monitored for the growth of your follicles using ultrasounds. Its really not about the quantity of eggs you produce by the quality. I can’t stress that enough because I great like 23 eggs during the first round and out of those 23 only 7 fertilized. After that none of them were really viable but they used them anyway. The second time I ended up with 8 eggs and 5 were excellent quality. I had 4 make it to blast stage. We now have two frozen but are pregnant with twins.
Good luck, and you can message here if you have any more questions. Baby dust to you!!

Mary asks…
Is having sex these days like playing russian roulette?
There is a danger even if you are in a monogamous relationship with someone and believe that person to be faithful. But every time you are having sex without a condom on you are trusting that person with your life, isn’t it? A lot of suburban soccer moms I know fool around and what surprises me is that they are just so natural about it. Then again, who knows what the husbands do too after work. With all the deadly diseases around why are people still having sex without condoms on and how can we be absolutely sure the person we are having sex is not sleeping with someone else? Condoms are no gurantees but only available options and they can fail too. So how can we protect ourselves ?
No sex is not an option as you want to make babies and IVF costs thousands.
