Your Questions About Natural Ivf

Mandy asks…

scar tissues after laprascopy?

My DIL underwent laprascopy for pcos and had scar tissues as an effect. She conceived by IVF and delivered a healthy boy in Jan 08. She is 32.
Is is possible for her to conceive again by normal method, or will the scar tissues still be a hindrance ? How much chances does she have to conceive in a natural way, she wants a sibling for her son.

Michelle answers:

Really no one knows, not even the Dr’s. There have been solid cases of women like your DIL conceiving on their own after IVF, but this doesnt happen for every woman. The human body is amazing and will sometimes overcome major obstacles to reproduce, but its no guarantee that it will work for her. Her age is also a consideration because she is over 30. A woman is born with all the eggs she will have in a lifetime and their quality and ability to fertilize after age 30 starts to decline. She might try on her own for a while, but she doesnt want to wait too long for IVF if she strongly desires a sibling for her son. Hope this helps.

Ken asks…

WILL ACUPUNCTURE & CHINESE MEDICINE WORK?

We have been trying to conceive for a few months, we were told that I have one blocked tube and one good tube. I’ve had one miscarriage and no other positive preg since. We were told by the RE that IVF would be our best bet. We would really like to stay natural. Has anyone tried Acupuncture or Chinese Medicine. Also can anyone recommend a place that has work in the NJ, PA DE area…

Michelle answers:

I believe they do. After having failed IVF cycles I started acupuncture and took my acupuncturists’ herbs for 3 months. Though they ended in a loss due to the immune issues I have, I got pregnant both IVF cycles when seeing my acupuncturist.

I have no recommendations but check out this referral service for acupuncturists http://www.acufinder.com/

Much luck!!

Best scenario for TTC with low sperm count?

My husband and I are TTC for 17 months. We found out in May that he has very very very low sperm count. We both see a naturopath and are taking herbs, and he is also seeing an acupuncturist. If natural doesn’t work, we’ll be trying IVF as there isn’t anything wrong with me. We were told we wouldn’t see results for a couple of months, but can anyone tell me if they’ve had similar experiences with TTC with low sperm count and if you did anything different, e.g we can’t have sex every day if he’s got no sperm – do we go every second day instead?

Michelle answers:

Do you know when you are ovulating i.e. Charting?? If you do and can pin-point the days leading up to ovulation I would say have sex 2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself BUT it is a myth that your hubby needs to lay off sex until those days you BOTH need strong, fresh sperm in these circumstances so make sure that at least 5-6 days before you start having sex to conceive he has got rid of the old sperm!!! This method has worked for many people I have met through a forum that I belong to!

GOODLUCK!!

Sandy asks…

we are trying to conceive, but how?

we are trying to conceive. were 2 yrs married. last august 2007, we undergo ivf. were almost bless but sad to say the baby is on fallopian tube. its an ectopic pregnancy. we we have no choice but to remove the baby.taht was september. and now, we want to do it in natural way. but the problem is, my wifes has an irregular menst. last time, she had 37 days and now she had 42 days before her mens. what can we do?how can we count her ovulation calendar. i think its not applicable to her?please help…..

Michelle answers:

You can buy ovulation tests from the chemist (which are similar to pregnancy tests). They’re pretty cheap and reasonably accurate.
My only tip for conception is that if after you do the deed that she lie on her back with pillows under her bottom so that gravity can assist the sperm. About 5-10 minutes is long enough.
