Maria asks…
Does anyone know of somewhere that I can get a computer and/or software donated to help my child with autism?
My son is 5 and has asperberg and is need of a computer that has programs that he can learn basic thingas on for learning. I have my computer, but I use it for work. I need one for him so I can program it with learning materials. Can anyone help me or direct me in the right way?
Michelle answers:
Here are some resources for software:
http://www.starfall.com/ (Free Internet Reading and Pre-Reading Activities)
http://www.funbrain.com/ (Free Internet Math and Reading Games)
JumpStart (software to buy for basic academic skills)
As for a computer, libraries often have computers that you can use if you have a library card. This might be worth looking into. I hope this helps!
Ruth asks…
Does anyone have any good child development websites that they like?
My son is 2 and I’m looking for a good website that can tell me what skills he is learning and how to encourage them. He can sing the alphabet and recognizes all the letters (capitals only). He can recite his numbers up to 20 and is starting to grasp the concept of counting. He knows basic shapes and we are working on colors.
I want to try and make this process as interesting for him (and me) as possible.

what are a few good safe websites for a 11 year old child?
my son is 11 years old. but he has the brains of a high school junior (really, he reads at a 11th grade level) so he gets really bored with the common kid sites. Regardless of his intelligence all of the sites that he visits are required to meet my approval. so i really want to help him find a web site that is safe and age appropriate but not too babyish. can anyone suggest something?

Sharon asks…
How do I make a website with games/activities?
I’m a school teacher who spends endless amount of times looking for interactive activities and games on the Internet.
I’m at the point that I want to create my own website with games/activities I created.
How do I do this? How do I get started?
Michelle answers:
Well, you should look at freewebs.com, it let’s you create a website and when you’re just started, there’s a tutorial on there for you. But when you said “online” and “interactive game” i nearly jumped in my seat! If you want educational games try funbrain or starfall(for younger kids) or, you could try Agames. But if you use agames make sure you know WHAT game they’re playing, so just ask them or something like that. Hope this helps!
