Your Questions About Food Network

Betty asks…

Where can I buy purchase pretzel Ice cream cones from the internet?

I saw an episode of Unwrapped on Food Network where they showed Ice cream cones made from pretzel dough.

Michelle answers:

An ice cream cone or cornet is a cone-shaped pastry, usually made of a wafer similar in texture to a waffle, in which ice cream is served, allowing it to be eaten without a bowl or spoon. Various types of ice-cream cones include waffle cones, cake cones (or wafer cones), pretzel cones, and sugar cones.

Some brands produce something very similar to the traditional ice-cream cone, but with a flat bottom, which enables it to stand upright without danger of falling. These types of wafer cups are called “kiddie cups” or “cool cups”.

There is a website called coneguys.com. They sell all sorts of gourmet ice cream cones, including your pretzel cones. They were featured on the Food Network at some point and I think you can just call their 800 number to order.

Maria asks…

What’s the best way to cook a Nathan’s Famous hotdog and what do you put on it?

My husband and I saw a show on the Food Network about hotdogs some time ago. We are from the midwest and have never had a Nathan’s Famous hotdog. I found some in the grocery store the other day and bought them but I’m not sure how they should be cooked and dressed to taste like they came from Coney Island. We grill hotdogs all the time over charcoal. Anyone who has ever been to Nathan’s and would like to impart their expertise?

Michelle answers:

Soak them in beer for an hour or so. Grill. I serve them with chopped onion, mustard, mayo, and relish.

Sometimes I prefer to make what we call Coney Chili Dogs..top with good brand chili and grated sharp cheddar cheese.

Sandra asks…

Does anyone have any good, easy boneless chicken breast recipes?

I’m new at cooking….I saw a lady cooking some chicken breasts the other day on Food Network…she was coating the chicken with flour, but that’s all i remember….thanks.

Michelle answers:

I cook a lot of chicken i do what my husband calls
Milanesa

1- I mix egg and some seasoning in a bowl.
2- I put the chicken inside the bowl so it’s thoroughly covered with the egg.
3- Then I have crushed crackers and dip the chicken in there and have all the crushed crackers stick with the chicken.
4- I cook it on hot oil until it looks golden brown.

🙂

Add vegetables, rice or whatever you wand on the side
make sure you add vegetables though

Sharon asks…

Anyone know Adam Gertler’s recipe for beer can chicken?

For the final show of The Next Food Network Star, Adam Gertler made beer can chicken, but I can’t seem to find it. Anyone have the SAME one he used?

Michelle answers:

It was pretty hard to discern the recipe on this one but he used the same exact rub he used for the chicken stuffed pita.

Smoky BBQ Rub:
1 cup kosher salt
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup smoked paprika
1/2 cup chili powder
1 tablespoon dried rosemary (crushed slightly with spice mill)
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1/2 cup granulated garlic

You don’t use the whole amount on the one chicken, give it a good coat of rub and bottle up the rest to keep refrigerated/frozen for probably up to six months. Then take the beer (I’m pretty certain any beer would do, he used Old Chubb) and pour half in the roasting pan. Add some garlic cloves, rosemary and about a tablespoon of rub to the beer IN the can. Situate the bird on top of the can and transfer to the roasting pan. Tuck the wings so they are behind the bird and put on the lowest rack in your oven. Cook like you would any other roaster at 350 ‘ for probably about 1 & 1/2 – 2 hours depending on the size. If you buy a one with a pop-up timer, that should make it easy. I’m giving it a try tonight – good luck!
