What are some good resources when it comes to learning to cook?
My mother is not a very good cook so when it comes to learning she is of little to no use to me. I want to learn to cook because of my LOVE for food. I love a homemade cooked meal especially when the food is REAL and not processed or canned. I want to know some good resources or even direct tips from you about learning to cook. I love watching Food Network, but I have a hard time keeping up with it and I’m am left confused about time durations, ingredients, and the overall gist of what they are preparing.

Many of the recipes you see on Food Network are available on-line so you can print them out and watch the videos and pause them as needed.
Also there are some really good cookbooks with step-by-step directions and pictures. You can find some used ones on half.com or look at new ones at your big book store.
I took my granddaughter to a couple of classes taught by a local chef. One was on knife skills and was excellent as was the one on cooking with herbs. Sometimes the local extension office (Department of Agriculture) or the community college will have free or very inexpensive classes.

What is this food network show?
I watched a show a few weeks ago and it was really funny and now I cant remember what its called.
I thought it was on the food network, but now I think I might be wrong.
People would go to a restaurant (on a date, or a in a group), and they would have a secret sound piece in their ear. A person in another room would watch them through a secret camera and tell them to do funny things at the table. When they completed these tasks, they would get money.
What is this show called?
