Your Questions About Firefox

Richard asks…

How can I modify Firefox to stop displaying security warnings?

Most webpages are like criminals to Firefox. For example, it blocks Google and some other websites and I have to click “I Understand the Risks” and “Confirm security exception” whenever I visit these pages. It’s annoying and wastes my time. It also says someone might be trying to impersonate the site. Can anybody help?

Michelle answers:

Although you may think you are requesting a legit site, there are potential conditions existing in your operating system, arising from malicious garbage you’ve picked up, that guide you to malicious sites that look exactly like the real McCoy.**

First, try “MalwareBytes” to start cleaning up your system:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
(free version has no “real-time” shield)

Afterwards, you need to modify Firefox so it has less chances of bringing back the wrong kinds of assets.

**The first place Windows ‘looks’ for a website address is the on-board ‘hostsfile’.
Many malicious payloads modify this so that websites controlled by the bad guys gets your browser to go there rather than the genuine site.
Get this: “HOSTS file” (from mvps.org) which blocks evil webpage assets from re-directs which install malware or trashware. (Vista/Win7 require special instructions; on-page link)

What are some methods for exporting bookmark folders from Firefox?

In Firefox you can do the bookmark folders at the top below the search bar or whatever. Anyway, I have accumulated quite a few tabs/folders that are very in depth with multiple sub-folders and I’d like to be able to just save one entire folder or sub-folder if I want so I can export/save it in the cloud or on pc. I’m wondering what services/free sites/options there would be to this and what others have done for similar cases. Thanks much in advance.
Yes, I already know about exporting the complete backup of bookmarks from Firefox. I’m asking on how to pinpoint specific tabs not just the entire bookmark collection.

What is the add-on for Mozilla Firefox to unblock Facebook profiles?

I am told there is an add-on with the Mozilla Firefox browser that unblocks Facebook profiles. If so, does anyone know the name of this add-on application? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Using a web proxy site instead of a Firefox add-on is better. I highly recommend http://surfhappy.info that is the proxy site I usually use.
