Your Questions About Firefox

Ruth asks…

How do I set my Firefox 3 address bar to go directly to a site, rather than going through google?

My laptop is running the same version of Firefox and when I type queries into the address bar, it goes straight to a website, yet when I do such on my desktop, it will run through Google.
I tried tweaking the about:config settings, but that didn’t help.

Michelle answers:

Not sure, if this what u meant u may try the reffered blog link

for starter, by default, if u type a query in firefox address bar, it uses google’s “i am feeling lucky” feature to go to a website, but u can disable this by using about:config. At about:config, in the filter box, type keywords.url, only one entry will show up. Double click on that entry and u will get a popup marked, ‘enter a string’. Copy the string value and paste it in a notepad for if latter on u decide to use it. Delet the string value from the popup window press ok and restart firefox. See if its working as u wanted! U can follow original authors website also.

How can you tell which firefox window is hogging up the cpu?

Firefox browser often starts consuming 100% of the processor time slowing down the computer. Closing windows until you find the right window helps. Is there any way to tell which window it is that is using up the cpu?

Michelle answers:

Maybe you should try reinstalling Firefox

Alternatively you could download and run the free ‘Process Lasso’ which throttles back any process which is trying to hog all the CPU resource. It also keeps a log of its actions so you should be able to see which process was the culprit.

How do I get Firefox to show previous History?

I have the most recent version of Firefox (version 5). The only issue I have is that firefox won’t show my history from a previous days. This has gotten very annoying. Does anyone know how to make firefox show my previous history? Please help ASAP. Thanks
I already tried google

Michelle answers:

You could press CTRL + H to view the history.

You could also press the Firefox button and go to History on the right side of the menu.
If you don’t have the Firefox button showing, you can go to History > Show All History to view your history.

How do I uninstall firefox 11 and go back to firefox 10?

I tried a system restore but that didnt work. Firefox 11 dosent work with roboform which I need to use daily.

How do I download firefox 10 and get rid of version 11?

Michelle answers:

Hi,
Go to the Roboform site & check for any updates.

The procedure, if needed, is to back-up your profile first…
Go to, http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/10.0.2/win32/en-US/
if this suits your specs & D/L it.
Then un-install Firefox v11.
(Your “stuff” will not be touched.)

Run the installer.
It will automagically pick up your profile.

Easy peasy.

& a System Restore will not help.
