Your Questions About Fedex

Steven asks…

How much worse is it to ship a computer USPS than FedEx or UPS?

FedEx wants $150, UPS wants $200, and USPS wants $30 for parcel post or $80-90 for Priority/Express. I’m moving and the computer is proving to be the hardest part.
I have the original box and I’ve been packing and shipping stuff on eBay for years, so I’m confident in my ability to make a safe container.

Another option is to take the tower as my carry-on on the airplane and ship my components.

Michelle answers:

Send it priority mail insured. Make sure you remove the HD and take it with you on the plane before you ship it.

Susan asks…

If i placed an order for fedex overnight express when will i receive it?

I placed the order tonight at around 10 pm. I paid 21 extra dollars to have it shipped as soon as possible. I chose FedEx Overnight Express. Can anyone tell me when I can expect to receive my order? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Kinda late.

Probably wednesday some time

William asks…

What prevents one from stealing a FedEx account number?

When FedEx packages are shipped there is an account number printed on the slip. Couldn’t you just write one of those numbers down and use it on your package? Once the accounting department sees the unexpected item, your package has been delivered and charged to the wrong party!

I am not trying to steal in any way – I am wondering how to protect my own small business. Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Well, you could. But Fed Ex knows where the package was delivered and could easily find out where it came from and go back to the person that sent it.

Mark asks…

How long does FEDEX take to ship something?

Ok I order something from dell and they are shipping my customized computer via Fedex ground shipping. That status when I was tracking was “en route” and the latest event was that it left FEDEX office. How long would it take to reach my house?

Michelle answers:

If you track the shipment on FedEx.com, the system will give you the “expected” delivery date. Should be in the upper left hand corner of the tacking information.
