Do i need to reapply for FAFSA if I want the information sent to an additional school?
I efiled the FAFSA application (The application for federal student financial aid). I intended to have the information sent to one school- but since the application, have decided on a different grad school.. To have the results of my FAFSA sent to a different college , do I need to reapply for FAFSA from scratch?
Michelle answers:
No. Once you have filed the FAFSA for a particular year, you cannot file another one. It will simply tell you that you already have one on file.
If you need to make changes to your FAFSA after you have filed it, including adding a new school, you can go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to make corrections to an already processed FAFSA. The link will be under Section 3 of the home page. You will need your PIN to access your application and submit the correction. If you have lost or forgotten your PIN, you can obtain it again at www.pin.ed.gov by clicking on “Request Duplicate PIN.”
You can include up to 10 schools on your FAFSA.
Charles asks…
How can I tell if my Fafsa submitted correctly?
I sent in my fafsa, and I just want to be sure if it was submitted in correctly.
Michelle answers:
I think you just have to wait for the result- if you feel you missed out something big, like your parents’ income tax info or a college you plan to apply for, you can contact FAFSA to correct your application. You can check out directschoolloan.org for the application procedures. Cheers!

Can College Board CSS and FAFSA asking tenant to report property equity?
College Board CSS and FAFSA excluded homeowner from reporting their property equity, but two of this organization asking tenant to report their property equity. This is an unjustified regulations run by these two organizations. Especially, in many states homeowner live in over one million dollars home as their primarily residence and do not need to report their property equity when their child report on FAFSA and CSS.
Michelle answers:
The FAFSA does *not* ask about a family’s home value.
The CSS Profile form asks for the parent’s home net value. CSS Profile is used by about 300 universities, who use it, along with the FAFSA, to determine how much of their funds they will award a student via financial aid. Since they are disbursing their own funds, they have every right to ask about a family’s income and assets.
If you feel the CSS Profile is an invasion of your privacy somehow, you certainly have the right to refuse to fill it out and send it to the college. The college, of course, will not award you any financial aid.

I want to start school this spring but I don’t have my W2 to fill out the fafsa. How long does it take for the fafsa to be completed.
Michelle answers:
Spring semester already started, but you can use the tax info from the last paycheck stub of 2009 to complete it.
