Your Questions About Facebook Login

Sandra asks…

Facebook Login PROBLEMS!?

My friend is ever so sad..
She changed her password.. but then forgot it.
So she clicks on “forgot her password” and it sends a link to her email.
So she goes to her email and follows the link facebook sends her, which goes to NOT the *reset password* page, but the login page.
It’s just a vicious circle of hatred from Facebook.
And she can’t log in to facebook anymore. 🙁
HELP!?!?

If you go to this page, it has many solutions if you forgot your password, if it doesn’t take you to the right page, etc 🙂

Donna asks…

Question about truth and Facebook login.?

Ok so viewing Facebook login of my fiancé, it said “active 9 minutes ago”-obviously logged off. Now, ten minutes later the icon next to her name on chat is lit up showing that she is logged on. I asked her why she hadn’t read my message yet and it was claimed that she had NOT logged on at all during the frame of time in question. Going back I saw that she was again logged off. About ten minutes after THAT, the damn thing says active 2 minutes ago, indicating that within that 10 minute window she logged back on AGAIN-which again she denies. I honestly don’t care that she goes on Facebook-whatever, but why the need to lie about it? So-does Facebook randomly log you in and out when it is obvious, by Facebook itself, that you were in fact logged out for at least a little while?

Michelle answers:

Case1: She is using Facebook for Android app:

fb android app keeps checking updates every now & then. Thats why it shows online.

Case2: She is lying.

Susan asks…

On mobile phone can facebook login by itself?

on a mobile phone can facebook log itself in so you will show online to others?

Michelle answers:

If you have the facebook app and you have logged in your details then yes whenever you click on the icon it will log in straight away. But if you dont want this to happen you will have to log out like as if you are using a computer

Robert asks…

Is the login information for Facebook encrypted?

Michelle answers:

If you look for the lock on the login page, you won’t see it, because the login page itself is not encrypted. However, if you look at the HTML code for the page, you will see that the login form posts to:
https://login.facebook.com/login.php

Which means that whatever you enter into that form will be encrypted.

This isn’t 100% secure. If the main page is not https, you can’t be guaranteed that the information on the page is actually coming from the facebook site. In theory, a man in the middle, or someone who fools your computer into thinking www.facebook.com is on another site, could supply a different form that doesn’t post to the encrypted site on facebook.com.

In practice, though, I’d be surprised if anyone tried that sort of attack on facebook… A banking site would be a more likely target.
