Your Questions About Facebook

Robert asks…

What is the YA policy on using the facebook logo in avatars?

Many users have the facebook logo in their avatars. Is that avatar coming from facebook and is Yahoo allowing people to display the copyrighted facebook logo?

Michelle answers:

Yes, that logo is bestowed directly on the user’s photographic avatar for the purpose of sharing with Yahoo! Answers, and the photo is the user’s facebook profile pic. This is a fairly recent innovation (dating back about 3 months or so). It is a partnership agreement between Yahoo! And Facebook to encourage integration of Answers with social networking for the mutual benefit of both corporations and the greater enjoyment of those users who choose to take advantage of the link-up. YA users get to see this form of advertising for Facebook, while Facebook users get to see their friends’ YA stream on their Facebook page.

How can I stop receiving messages to my inbox from Facebook chat?

Lately Facebook has been sending every single message from IM chat on Facebook to my Facebook e-mail. Its hogging up my messages folder and I don’t know how to change the settings in that. How do I stop this? Is this something new? Facebook is changing and I cant even delete all messages at once anymore and I want to figure out how to stop receiving im messages to my messages.
How can I do that? What settings do I change?

Michelle answers:

How to get someone banned from facebook again after they made a second account?

Hi, there were two people who posted sexual/inappropriate pictures on my facebook wall, they were banned by facebook however now they are back with the same names, but they have different accounts. How can I contact facebook to get these people banned again?

Michelle answers:

You have to have legitimate proof; if they did that again on those accounts, then you would have a case, but if nothing has happened on those accounts, Facebook is honestly not going to care. You shouldn’t worry about it. Just block them and if they keep doing inappropriate stuff, then you can report them again, but without them doing it again, you don’t have a case. You can’t get people banned for no reason, and Facebook is honestly not going to care enough to investigate.

How long will Facebook delete my account?

I deleted my Facebook for two weeks now. Facebook stated It’ll only take 14 days but It has been more than that! I search up my old accounts and the message option is no longer available, which means my old accounts has been deleted. When I search up my newer account, the message option is still available, which means Facebook has not deleted my account yet. How long will Facebook delete my account? Help please, any input on this?

Michelle answers:

Ironically, the answer comes courtesy of a dedicated Facebook group no less. The “How to permanently delete your facebook account” group, created by Magnus Wallin, lays our three steps to Facebook removal:

1. Delete everything that is related to your profile. That includes, but is not limited to: pictures, friends, messages, wall-posts, mini-feeds, news-feeds, posted items, interests, groups, applications, gifts….etc etc etc… Get the picture? EVERYTHING!

2. Contact the Facebook staff and request a permanent deletion of your account and that all information about you is fully erased. Of course, remember to tell them your user name.
