Your Questions About The Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Steven asks…

Think im pregnant again! yey!?

Hello…

I am 22 years old and think i may be pregnant :o)

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in July, I then had my 1st natural period 23rd September.

Since then my husband and I have been trying for a baby again and i have made sure i am in good condition (etaing healthy, folic acid etc)

I was due on again yesterday though not yet come on. I did a Preg test on Saturday (1 day before my period was due) though got a negative response.

Though i have had all of the same symptoms i had in my previous pregnancy(Sore boobs,Period-like cramps, urinating more often)

And idead on how long should I leave it untill i do another pregnancy test? Judging by my last period i would be 4 weeks and 1 day pregnant today…!!!! x

Thanks

Michelle answers:

Best of luck to you and sending loads of baby dust your way!!!!

Jenny asks…

Why is it so bad to be a virgin in todays society?

I’m a 15 year old girl, and i want to save sex till marriage.Yes i have been offered sex b y many guys, but i’m not ready for it.I’m not ready for it emotionally or mentally.I know sex is healthy, and natural.I know having sexual urges and feelings is healthy and normal.I do masturbate to well, fulfill those urges.I’m not a prude and i think when you do have sex,you should be open with your partner about your sexuality and fantasies, and willing to try new things, positions, ideas.I don’t want to have sex because i don’t want to risk pregnancy or getting STDs at all,the only way to prevent pregnancy 100% is abstinence. It seems like sex is thrown around so much now a days,it has no meaning anymore,it’s only used for pleasure. Is it a bad idea for me to wait? Why is it such a bad idea to wait till marriage??

Btw,don’t give me that “you wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it first” because i’m not a car or automobile. And i’ve heard the whole incompatibility thing, and you could talk about your comfort zone, what you would be open and closed to and things you would like to try.And i’ve also heard the whole not like teaching thing,i’ve never had sex,but i think even if you are with someone experienced, you have to teach them what you like
That’s why there’s this thing called COMMUNICATION.If a person is selfish in any other aspect of the relationship,i think common sense would tell you, idk, they’d be selfish in bed.And what if the people have oral sex, just not vaginal sex.And plenty of guys are selfish and will use a girl for one thing, then dump her once he gets it.If you communicate, there shouldn’t be any problems
Oh and it doesn’t take experience to please the otehr person,it would take teaching and learn as you would have to do even if you were experienced

Michelle answers:

It’s not. More and more people are saving themselves. People are also more educated in disease prevention. I’m proud of you, keep it up.

Donna asks…

pregnant? please help!?

Hi, I am 21 years old and I am really worried i might be pregnant. I had my last period in the middle of April and now it is the first of June. I am 2 weeks late getting my period! I have been taking birth control pills for 4 months and have been taking them around the same time every day. I have read that some pregnancy symptoms are similar to getting your period. the only symptoms I have are slight cramping and slight breast soreness for over a week now. I havent been feeling sick or needing to use the restroom frequently. My periods have been regular so it is starting to worry me. I have taken a home pregnancy test a couple days ago and it came back negative. I know that stress can make you late and i have been stressed out but that is natural for me all the time and i’ve never felt this worried over it. I am very sure i have never been two weeks late. please help!!!

Michelle answers:

Though birth control pills are one of most reliable contraceptives but still they also doesn’t give 100% protection.
So its time you do another pregnancy test.
Either again a home test or you can go for early pregnancy scan, which will confirm exactly what is it.

John asks…

Do you dislike teenage mothers? If so, why?

Okay so I have just been kind of confused about this: why is it that if a girl gets pregnant she is immediately labeled a “slut”? For instance there could be two 16 year old girls who are sexually active and one of them gets pregnant. Why is the pregnant one the only one who is the slut? They both did the same thing – so shouldn’t they be equally judged? Or is it because we as a society assume that because she got pregnant that she is too stupid to use protection? That isn’t necessarily true – no birth control other than abstinence is 100% so there is no guarantee that she DIDN’T try to protect herself. The pregnant girl could have been on some form of birth control and had it fail, we don’t know. Now on the flipside the girl who isn’t pregnant could have not been using ANY form of birth control and out of sheer dumb luck hasn’t gotten pregnant yet. Again, we don’t know. So then why do we judge? And now that we have established that BOTH girls had sex and BOTH girls COULD have been using birth control (we just don’t know now do we?) but that only ONE girl got pregnant – why is the pregnant one the slut? Is it the pregnancy that makes her a slut? Is it because the fact that she had sex is evidenced by the pregnancy? Because if we go around judging pregnant girls because “they had unprotected sex, they’re so stupid” that isn’t a real excuse. We don’t know. We don’t know about any girl – regardless of whether or not she’s pregnant. So then why don’t we go around judging EVERY girl like that?

I’m not a pregnant girl by the way so this is in no way some sort of weird justification of my actions. I just really want to know what people think about this. Because I think even though I think that we shouldn’t judge pregnant girls I probably might if I saw one, not because I actually think they are a slut but because that’s just the natural assumption. Why is that the assumption though – to judge people before we even know the story?

Michelle answers:

No, she and the guy that got her pregnant are both sluts.

And people dislike teenage mothers because they almost always make bad mothers with too much drama!

Your Questions About Fedex

Linda asks…

Fedex!!!!!!!!!!!!?

i was supposed to be getting a package from my mom and she mailed it express by fedex……well when she gave me the tracking number and tracked it just fine and everything and it said the package was between the front doors and my house….well when i got home from work there was nothing there…..and i called the 800 number for fedex and they said they r going to investigate it and im supposed to call in tomorrow…..will i get the package back and when will i get it back cause they said there going to call the driver that was supposed to delever the package to my house….so can somebody please tell me if im going to get my package and when do u think

Michelle answers:

It was probably stolen, and you’re probably not going to see it again. Sorry, but it’s the truth! (Good luck anyway, I hope your package defies the odds)

Next time, have your mom make sure to ask for a “direct signature,” that way they can’t leave it unattended at the door. Your work might be OK with you having it delivered there – that way someone is available to sign for it during the FedEx delivery hours.

Laura asks…

FedEx????????

I ordered an item and FedEx is delivering it to me. I was home all day and online it said that no one was home so they could not deliver the package. This was their second attempt and I am really fed up with FedEx. They left a slip on my door yesterday when they made their forst attempt. It says you may pick-up your package TODAY after 7:00 P.M. Yesterday is the Today in the slip. Can I still go and get my package since they also attempted to deliver it today?

Michelle answers:

Yes, the driver will be back at FedEx at 7p. Don’t go earlier because that is when he is expected to return. You can sign for your package then.

Ken asks…

fedex??????

does fedex ground deliver on sundays? i need to know!

Michelle answers:

I’m pretty sure they do not deliver on Sundays. At least in south carolina they don’t

Thomas asks…

How to get Fedex to deliver the package to the nearest Fedex location?

I ordered a package and it is currently in transit. How can I change the order so that instead of having it delivered to my house, I can have it delivered to the nearest Fedex location (no one will be at home on the scheduled day of delivery)?

Thank you!

Michelle answers:

Well they will leave a note(or a door tag) if they need a signature if they don’t
they will just leave the package on your doorstep so you dont really need to change to a
fedex location

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Linda asks…

Can hair vitamins such as California Natural Hair pills cause me to have pregnancy symptoms?

Well Ive only been taking these supplements for a week or two after i was supposed to start my period and ive been having all the pregnancy symptoms. Such as: Nausea and dry heaving, dizziness, headache, cramps, one nose bleed, more hungry often. Took pregnancy test and it was negative. Any ideas? HELP

Michelle answers:

Probbably its ur body’s reaction towards vitamins. It will adapt to them SOON! (: just have patience…good luck

Robert asks…

Can you get a correct positive pregnancy test result 2 weeks after your period?

got pg in sept and had natural m/c in nov. normally my periods are months apart so i take hpt all the time. i took a test in dec and it was negative. got light bleeding Jan 2, took another test and it was neg. I proceeded to bleed for several days (regular period I guessed). Then on Jan 17 i got pinkish/brown discharge. thought maybe it was ovulation bleeding, but got a neg ovu test result.Took a hpt test, it was positive. I took another one the next morning, and the following day; all positive results.
I think the positives mean either a) i ovulated right after my per started and got preg immediately (which is very rare for me since my cycles are usually months apart) or b) the hcg being detected is from the miscarriage, but isn’t that impossible since I got 2 negatives after the miscarriage?
I called the dr. and spoke to nurse, she told me to wait a couple of weeks because they wouldn’t see anything anyway, but i want to know now!
Are there any other possibilities that I am missing or could I really be pregnant?

Michelle answers:

If you tested negative after mc, this is s new pregnancy. Your levels from November would no longer be present.

Nancy asks…

Michelle answers:

Have you ever heard the saying “A line is a line!”. Well thats true. Your body couldnt make that positive line show up unless you had pregnancy hormones in your body. I would definately say that you are pregnant. Call your doctor first thing this morning to set up a blood test and possibly a dating ultrasound.

Dont worry about the spotting, its very normal at this point in the pregnancy. 50 percent of all women bleed! And since it stopped I would say that you are in the clear. Just mention it to your doctor to be sure. Cramping and lower back pain are normal as well as your uterus is stretching a lot at this point.

And Masturbation isn’t weird

Michelle answers:

I’m glad you’re waiting for a while, but I would encourage you not to be unrealistic standards on yourself regarding sexual abstinence when you are older.

Although I agree with religious conservatives who want to challenge the youth to delay sexual activity for a while, I totally disagree with their message that a condom is a provision for sin. I send my Christian friends to the website below which debunks the whole thing against premarital sex in the Bible. That way they have no excuse not to support comprehensive sex education.

Steven asks…

Dr says Preggo, tests say not?

I asked this question a couple weeks ago, but I have more to add:

I had Mirena placed in Feb 2011. It was removed in Aug 2011 because I had so many symptoms of a pregnancy (and a neg pee test at the dr offfice) so they said I was having hormonal imbalances. I’ve been having unprotected sex since then. In the last couple of weeks I have been experiencing the following symptoms (some increased from the Aug time, others newly apparent):
Nausea/vomiting
Dizziness/Fainting
Extreme Fatigue
Insomnia (worsened, I’ve had it for years)
Mood swings
Growing breasts
Darkening nipples and veins on breasts
Hardened abdomen in the uterus area
Increased sex drive
Worse migraines (again, had them for years)
Dreams (never have them unless I’m pregnant, and they’re always scary as hell)
Back pain (kidney area, no infection)
Increased urination and thirst (ridiculous on both)
Increased appetite (I’m always hungry but the very thought/smell of food makes me sick to my stomach)
Cravings (milk products and greasy foods)
Increased sense of smell
Lack of concentration
Slightly worse memory
Joint pains
Spotting (for 2 days, very light and extremely intermittent)
Varying from constipation to diarrhea
Swishing feeling in abdomen
I even used that Graco heart thing and I could find a heart beat in my lower abdomen (it moved a lot, especially with the swishing sounds which I know for a fact is not my digestion), that was around 100+ bpm.
I went to planned parenthood for a preg test and it came back negative. The nurse said to come back once a week, early in the morning to take a test for a couple of weeks cause I have so many symptoms that I’m most likely pregnant. She thinks it’s either too early in the pregnancy to detect or the med I took the afternoon before interfered with it (AZO tablets, I was trying to double ensure I don’t have a UTI – sometimes the dr misses the UTI if it’s early on).
Today (5 days after the planned parenthood visit), I took an at home test and it was neg. However, for the first time the test showed up blank for 2.5 minutes before the single line appeared. I am going to take another test in the morning (hoping it’s pos). I know the swishing seems exactly like a baby moving in the womb as I have a 1.5 year old. I could feel her movements when I was barely a month along…

Is it possible that I am pregnant? If so, why are the tests showing up negative still.
If I am not pregnant, what could be causing all of these symptoms (especially the swishing)?
2 weeks ago (Tiebreaker)
Additional Details
It didn’t seem like my heart beat. I timed mine between 60 – 70 bpm, this one was over 100. I’ve gone through many tests for the heart to know how to properly check and identify my heartbeat vs. a baby’s. (You can’t take heart meds while pregnant, so you have to keep an eye on yourself a lot). I also get tested annually for diabetes/lupus/thyroid problems/etc. (I have a few health problems that haven’t been 100% explained yet). So I’m used to keeping a detailed list of symptoms in my head or on paper. Including watching for patterns as to onset and easing symptoms. I was wondering how long a urine test can be false for though? And I also was wondering if it is possible that I was pregnant back in Aug and the test was just a false neg… so that’s why I have even more symptoms now?

I also have sore breasts. They get so sore that just my arms bumping them hurts, and the natural sag to the sides when you lie down bothers me. In order to put my arms down to lie down without pain I have to pick my breasts up, my arm down, then let go of my breasts, just to keep the pressure off them. This pain isn’t constant, just once every other week (minimal).

My bleeding was also odd. It was a week late from my period (was supposed to be the 28th, it started the 3rd). The red bleeding lasted less than 2 hours. It was very light (didn’t even fill have a reg tampon). For a couple of days I had intermittent spotting of light brown. Then a week later I had some intermittent spotting of the light brown for a couple of days. Whenever the bleeding or spotting occurred (literally just like the hour before/after the spotting occurred) I would get cramps that felt like something was tearing at my old c-section scar (had a baby in march 2010).
Also, my back pain is identical to the pain from my first child that was described as the ciatic nerve pain and later on similar to the early labor pains.

I went to the doctor last Tuesday. He did a urine and blood test, both showing up negative. However, in his notes he said “I do not believe she is not pregnant. I think she is just too early to show up positive so I want her back Thursday to retest and from there we will keep testing until it says she is pregnant.” Thursdays’ test showed up negative as well. My doctor has been on vacation ever since. So now I&#39

Michelle answers:

Problems from diabetes. Avoid sugar. Get tested.

Chris asks…

*Please read brief description*?

Hi, I already had a UTI before and it burned and it had hurt a lot! I was taken to an emergency room and was detected with minimal UTI.
Now, I am on a natural fertility treatment for about 15 days or a bit more now ( half a month or more ), and I am not kidding, I need to go to the bathroom every 5 to 10 minutes to pee. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t burn, nothing, I feel the urge and I do pee. But no signs of UTI like I had before, just going to the bathroom, peeing all the time but no pain or nothing. To be exact the only thing I do feel after I pee sometimes is something is on top of my bladder, but even so, I am not left with just the urge, I do pee and a lot.
By the way, I have been feeling mild cramps that comes and goes, comes and goes, but it’s not daily either.
1)Could this be a weird UTI? 2) An early pregnancy sign? 3) A upcoming period? 4) I really don’t know.
I am going to do tests tomorrow for the UTI. 5) If it’s negative should I suspect pregnancy?
Just as a note, almost 3 years ago I also did a fertility treatment and got pregnant, but lost my baby when he was 6 weeks old which I miss. But this means I do have a possibility to get pregnant with a treatment.
I have been taking cranberry capsules for months now.

Michelle answers:

Im sorry for your loss!

I’ve always been told that drinking cranberry juice will help clear out your system and help with UTIs. I’ve had great success with it. You can also buy cranberry pills in the vitamin section Walmart, or your local pharmacy and they work just as well.

What you describe could easily be a symptom of anything including a UTI and pregnancy, so your best bet is to drink lots of water, cranberry juice and to take a pregnancy test if you don’t get your period when it’s due. Good luck!

Helen asks…

New baby, and it seems our relationship is stalling. Help!?

My boyfriend and I have been together 10 months and have a 1 month old. (I know, I know, but I’m a responsible 26 yr old whose protection really did fail) My bf has been faltering about where our relationship is going. From the very beginning things were great, and seemed to be following the natural course of a long term commitment, with him hinting at a proposal soon. At 9 months of pregnancy I started feeling like he wasn’t as excited about our life together, and came right out and asked him if he wanted to marry me. He said he wasn’t sure. Now that our child is here he says he has “fallen in love with me again” and wants to get married after I told him I would rather be alone than to live a life of committing to him and the home we have made together with no commitment from him. Yet he still has not asked me. I’m just sad, I try to blame it on postpartum, but is this the end? I do not want to push commitment for our child. If anything I feel like if I wasn’t good enough before she was born, I’m not sure I want to be now. HELP!

Michelle answers:

You were basically not even committed when you got pregnant. This relationship did not have a chance to mature naturally. It probably never will now, I’m sorry.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Paul asks…

Ectopic pregnancy??!! Im scared please help?

My last missed period was Sept 18th. I took a pregnancy test 10/28. My levels then were 298.They then prescribed me 400mg of natural progesterone a day. Went to the Dr to do blood work again on 10/30. My levels now are 2046 and my progesterone went up 54%. She is sending me for some more blood work on Friday and then monday get my results and do my first prenatal. Do you think I could be suffering from a Tubal pregnancy??? I dont have any of the symptoms! Please tell me if what you think. I am starting to get scared and super nervous! They also said that I was between 3-7 weeks pregnant…but since my ovulation is off…then the ultra sound would be the way to determine how far along I am…PLEASE HELP ME!! AM I OVER WORRYING MYSELF??!!!
I guess the only reason I am thinking Ectopic is because my left ovary is pulled back behind my uterus. and it just concerns me..plus this is my first pregnancy and I have been trying to conceive for 5 yrs.
Do my levels look good?? Are they normal??

Michelle answers:

I would think that if you are having an ectopic pregnancy you would be in pain. The reason they are monitoring your blood is because if you are not producing enough hormones, it might cause you to have a miscarriage. Sounds to me like your Dr is doing a great job. I think you are fine you are just overreacting. I’ve learned to take your mind off of negative thoughts and think positive. Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope everything goes great for you!

George asks…

I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative…
I would like as much advice as i can get, PLEASE!!
Based on YOUR calculations( I gave you the exact dates of my last couple periods), would you say they were annovulatory cycles, Was it too soon to test or what???Husband and I would like to conceive…
I have been to the doctor had my prolactin levels, thyroid, pituitary gland, LH and FSH, liver/kidney function everything tested all was perfect, I do not have PCOS either

Michelle answers:

Susan asks…

Questions for a possible pregnancy?

I was supposed to get my period sometime around last Wednesday or Thursday and I ended up having sex on Wednesday. We used a condom but he slipped inside me for about 30 seconds before he put one on. Its been 8 days since and I still haven’t gotten my period. I was wondering if I’m just really late (which happens sometimes) or if there is a possibility of me being pregnant. If there is a possibility, when is the soonest I would be able to take a pregnancy test and get a correct result? Which pregnancy test tends to have a higher accuracy rate? Also, is there anyway to use natural herbs to self abort without harming myself if it turns out I am pregnant? Thank you very much for your help.

Michelle answers:

Most women will ovulate on day 14 starting from the first day of your last cycle. That is based on a 28 day “normal” cycle.
If you were due for your next period the day after bare in mind the egg only lives for 24 -36 hours after release from the ovary. If there is no sperm waiting or ready to penetrate the egg during that short window it will disintegrate and your body will prepare for the shedding of the lining that is there in case you do fall pregnant and cleans itself ready for the next egg.
All HPT’s are as accurate as each other as they all claim to be able to detect pregnancy at the same time.
You pregnancy test should be taken at least 14 days after conception at the embryo implants after 10 days and then you produce the hormones they test for.
I don’t know about herbs but I doubt your pregnant anyway.

Sharon asks…

i don’t know when to test? please help?

following a miscarriage on the 17th, i felt normal. now i feel pregnant again! when i get up i get a headrush, look bloated/pregnant and have mood swings. when should i take a pregnancy test to be sure wether im pregnant? i been having unprotected sex since the 23rd when my bleeding has stopped, it was a natural miscarriage n i was 6 weeks pregnant. someone please help?

Michelle answers:

It’s hard to say b/c unless you can confirm ovulation. Many women ovulate normally after a miscarriage but some do not for quite a while. Sometimes, ovulation symptoms can mimic pregnancy symptoms too.

I hope this does not offend….was your miscarriage confirmed? I have heard of women believing they had miscarried only to joyfully find they had not. Also, sometimes you can miscarry a twin, but carry the other twin to term. Either of those might explain the pregnancy symtoms.

If you are sure neither of the above reasons are a possibility, then you might try testing starting the 17th. That would give you roughly a month since the m/c and a fair possibility of an accurate result. You could test now, but it may still be too early.

Liza are you fucking nuts? Move in with my parents?! Did you read my question at all? I’m not a “young woman” I’m 26 years old! I have my own home and a great job. And “dr Laura” is a nutjob just like you who isn’t even a licensed psychologist! I already had my baby and adoption isn’t an option, and we are an intact family. Take your conservative crap somewhere else

Michelle answers:

Be careful. Make sure he wants this relationship for you not just because it’s the right/moral thing to do. Why rush into getting married? You hardly knew each other before, and now add a child, it puts your relationship more on the back burner. Do be aware your hormones are still trying to regulate this early postpartum, and concentrate on your new LO. I would say making any big decisions right now would be a bad idea, no rush, take this time to get to know him, could you see yourself raising a child with him? Could you see yourself ten years from now with him? Divorces are nasty… If you’re unsure it’s for a reason, take it a step at a time, get used to life with your new addition and take the time you need to recover after baby. Try not to feel pressured and see how things go, maybe he’ll turn out to be boy wonder or maybe not. Be selfish, just think about what’s best for you and baby.

Mary asks…

Best way to lose the baby weight?

My son is now almost 5 months old(on the 8th), and I have not lost all the weight that I would have liked to have lost by now. Pre-pregnancy I was about 130 pounds and 5’6 size 7 jeans. I gained 30 pounds through out my pregnancy and reached 160, I currently weigh about 150 and cant seem to lose the extra weight (mostly in my belly). Does anyone have a good exercise routine for this?

I both breastfeed and formula feed

James asks…

More time elapses between each of my menstrual periods?

Let’s start this off by saying. I just turned 20 years old. I have been sexually active for about 3 years. I have never been pregnant or had any children. And have never tried to get pregnant. And I have never seen a gynecologist.

Okay, I got my period when I was like 13 I think? I’ve always had fairly regular periods. (Usually between 30 and 35 days between each cycle). But about six months ago, my period began coming later and later. I thought that it was just a natural cycle change that I had heard about, so ignored it. About three months ago, my period suddenly came almost 3 weeks late! (Of course I was afraid so I took an at home pregnancy test and it came up negative). Then the next month it came 2.5 weeks late again. And then this LAST month I was expecting it on the 1st or 2nd of the month and didn’t start until the 21st! (Again I took another pregnancy test when it was very late). Then this month I was hoping it would be around the 21st, but again it has not come.

And no, it could not be any kind of STD, as I have been completely monogamus with my boyfriend for almost 2 years now. (And yes, lol I’m sure he’s been monogamus too.)

Also, I don’t know if this matters or not, but I had some problems with yeast infections a couple years ago. (TMI right? I’m trying to be thorough! I can’t find answers anywhere else).

I am reluctant to go straight to a gynecologist because I do not have health insurance. But of course if it is EXTREMELY serious and only in that case would I cough up the cash to get down there.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Oh! ALSO, I don’t know if this helps, but I usually have a short flow, maybe 3 days max. And possibly a fourth day of just spotting. It’s also very light. And (i’m not exactly sure) but it seems to have gotten lighter since this strange time lapse has been happing. Thanks again!

Michelle answers:

Honestly, ive had problems with my period also. After many years of tests and a zillion doctors late, it turned out to be a hormone imbalance. Have ur doctor check your hormones to see if they are at the right level. Also, have u gained a significant amount of weight around all of this? That could also be why.
Are u taking birth control? Cause even though that doesn’t tell you what exact is wrong, it will help u even out ur flow. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Donald asks…

Need to put weight on a rescue Chihuahua, help please?

Just brought home a lovely 3 year old rescue girl from the pound. Earlier this month she was pregnant and in labor and delivery, everything went wrong and she lost the litter (pups stuck in birth canal, emergency c-section and spay). Owner surrender due to no money for the vet. I suspect they bred her with a much larger dog as it appears every bit of her went into making that pregnancy as viable as possible. Poor girl is bone skinny. Quite obviously at this point malnourished.

We feed our other dogs a high quality premium dog food (Natural Balance) one feeding, once daily. While I’m fairly certain she will gain weight back to a healthy level simply by recovering from the pregnancy and the spay and having a good diet, I’m thinking to encourage her further, we should allow her to basically free feed – something I’ve never done with dogs before. It will be a challenge, given the other dogs in the house, but something I’m willing to tackle for her.

Am I on the right track here? Any other suggestions?

Michelle answers:

Kudos to you for taking her in and being concerned! On the suggestion of my vet, I feed my very thin rescues with a high quality puppy kibble (regardless of age of the rescued pup). There are additional calories and immuno-beneficial componants. I will free feed them to make sure there is always food for them. Then I slowly introduce more age-appropriate food when they are gaining. It can be hard when you have different dogs with different foods, sometime you need to separate them or devise a way so that just the one can get to it. You definitely don’t want to have her on kitten food for more than 6 weeks, because that’s hard on her kidneys…. Good luck!

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Induction

Ken asks…

Need personal opinions and experiences please!?

I am 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant and the past three appointments I have had with my doctor have been disappointing. The past three weeks I have been stuck at fingertip (almost 1cm dialated) and the doctor cannot feel the baby’s head (there was an ultrasound that confirmed she isn’t breech). I have dropped a lot the last 6 weeks. I do realize that any woman can go from almost 1cm to 4cm within hours and that labor can happen at anytime but the doctor said that he is hoping she arrives before Monday. He said that if she isn’t that he is going to set up an induction date for the following week as to avoid an unecessary c-section. He was going to strip my membranes at my 39 week appointment but couldn’t because I wasn’t dialated enough. When I was 37 weeks the baby weighed 6lbs 12oz and he fears she is going to be a large baby like her father was. So my question is: Is natural labor easier/faster/less painful than an induced labor?

Also the reason the doctor wants to avoid her coming late and larger is because I have already had my birth canal torn during pregnancy and I gushed blood and I am very anemic.

Michelle answers:

When labor is induced, they usually give you pitocin which increases the frequency and intensity of your contractions to help you dilate more. This is often very painful. I have heard it is more painful than going through labor naturally.

In general cases, inducing labor can actually increase your chance of a C-section. However, in your case, I’d probably have to agree with your doctor considering the risks.

Good luck!

Steven asks…

Today is my due date – what would you do?

Today is my due date (mixed feelings, yay I made it and aw no baby yet!)! This is my second child. I had to be induced with my first child and was also 9 days late. There were also some complications with meconium and I had some hormonal deficiencies during that pregnancy which might indicate why I did not go into labor naturally with her. It was awful!

Here is my dilemma. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and if I have not had the baby by then he will induce me. He has given me this option because of my history. My mother also never went into natural labor with me or my brother (both C-sections), so there could be a genetic element to it as well. I am REALLY sad about this. I really wanted to feel what it was like to go into labor naturally – the whole timing of the contractions and the mad rush to the hospital. Plus it really sucked spending most of my labor in a hospital room, I would like to be home for the beginning contractions. I am kind of considering opting out of the induction for a while to see if it will happen. HOWEVER – I have an extremely active 20 month old daughter that I am having serious trouble keeping up with and who is bored out of her mind because mommy can’t do ANYTHING! Also, I am in so much pain and have been for about a month now. My pelvic area feels bruised and my legs are so sore and wobbly and sometimes have these muscle spasms where my legs give out (no joke, kind of scary). It really has been utter hell. Also, this week the baby dropped so low that I can only sit with my legs WIDE apart and when I do sit my belly actually touches the chair (totally gross). My back is so bad because of this and I just am MISERABLE!

So what would you do? Would you continue being miserable and wait and see if its going to happen naturally (with the great possibility that I will be induced anyways). Or should I just get scheduled for Tuesday and get it over with!?? ARGH

thanks!
The doctor is actually giving me a choice when I want to be induced, so really it is my decision…

Michelle answers:

Wow that sucks. If i were you tho I would listen to your dr. I know as sad as it will be not going through natural labor at least you will now that your baby will be born healthy. If you are miserable the baby may be as well he/she can feel your emotions. Its your call 🙂 but I would rather be safe than sorry. Good luck!!

Daniel asks…

If my doctor wants to induce me because I live far away, can I say no? ?

With my 1st pregnancy I was induced because I live so far away, an hour and a half from the hospital. This time I want to have a natural birth and experience my water breaking and having normal contractions and all the usual normal birthing process. But I have to wait until next month to ask my new doctor. My insurance is changing and I have to look for a new doctor. But if and I am hoping it is a big IF they want to induce me because of how far away I live can I really say no?

Hopefully there won’t be any medical problems that cause an induction, so far everything is going really well.
Is it really my choice or can the doctor for me to?
I know I have to wait until I can ask my new doctor, but I want to know all of your opinions.

Thank you for your answers.

23 weeks and 4 days with baby boy # 2

Michelle answers:

It is completely your choice how you want your birthing process to be Whether it be natural, w/epidural,c-section. Etc. No one has the right to arrange a birthing plan for you unless there are medical reasons why one would be safer than the other

You can absolutely tell the doc exactly how you want the process to go, and you should be able to come to an agreement on how you will make it work for you. As we all know, sometimes births don’t go according to plan However, you do have the right to say no to an induction that you dont’t feel is necessary

Susan asks…

I am 5 days past my due date, hoping some moms were in my same boat…?

So, today makes me 5 days overdue. I am really not that worried since this is my first baby, and my cycles averaged 33 days so I probably am not actually late. However I have not dilated or effaced, I have NOT felt even ONE contraction, but baby has come down and my doctor can feel his head.

-I was just wondering how many of you moms went into labor on their own when you showed no signs of labor coming anytime soon, you know like me: not dilated, effaced, no contractions?

-Also, did you really do anything that you think helped bring labor on, you know like walking, castor oil, sex (although sex is hard for me, we haven’t had sex, save for twice, the entire pregnancy, I just can’t get into it)?

I am just looking for some encouragement, we are hoping for a 100% natural birth, and I just wanted to see if other moms who were in my same position went into labor on their own and did not need an induction.

Thanks ladies!
Jada’s Mommy: I never thought about the Castor Oil affecting the baby too! Thanks for that! And yes, I have been trying to talk myself into sex all day. I think I will be able to do when hubby gets home, I know he will be excited! *lol*

Michelle answers:

I was 5 days overdue with my first.

-I was just wondering how many of you moms went into labor on their own when you showed no signs of labor coming anytime soon, you know like me: not dilated, effaced, no contractions?

Well, I had dilated one cm, but I had been that way for a loooong time. I went in for my checkup and had dilated to 2 cm, which I didn’t know it at the time, but it was the beginning of my labor. I didn’t feel contractions (besides BH) or had any other indicator. ( I was admitted to the hospital at 12:30 am the following morning…in very active labor)

-Also, did you really do anything that you think helped bring labor on, you know like walking, castor oil, sex (although sex is hard for me, we haven’t had sex, save for twice, the entire pregnancy, I just can’t get into it)?
I had a lot of sex during my pregnancy, but in the final weeks we had a guest and her kids (bad situation, she wanted to help with baby, but baby was late and her kids started to STRESS ME OUT) and so we didn’t have a whole lot…but the day I was in early labor, well, night, we had sex and the minute I laid down to sleep, I had a contraction and they started coming every 8 minutes. That was at about 9 pm. I also tried Blue & Black cohosh. I didn’t take much though because I had some reservations about it, and I walked…ALOT. And very far. It gave me false labor sometimes, but I do believe it helped the day I was in early labor. I also had a big medicine ball that I would roll my hips around on to help with baby’s descent.

I am just looking for some encouragement, we are hoping for a 100% natural birth, and I just wanted to see if other moms who were in my same position went into labor on their own and did not need an induction.

I didn’t need an induction at first and I didn’t want to have an epi, either. However, my baby’s head got stuck in my pelvis AND she was sunny side up! PAIN. So I had the epi, and they gave me pitocin. Five hours later, I had her. I let the epi wear off so I could feel myself push. I know you feel like it’s neverending and you are gonna eventually deliver a toddler! Thats how I felt! But stay active and busy. This keeps ur mind off it (sorta) and makes the time go by faster. Get into sex!! Your poor husband! Lube up and get started, because after you have the baby it will be another long while until you can again. Plus, it may jumpstart labor since you aren’t used to having it. Orgasm can cause uterine contractions and semen can help soften the cervix with its prostaglandins. These things together, are what CAN jumpstart ur labor. Congrats ahead of time! You don’t have much longer. You could have this baby tomorrow just sitting around, you never know.

Thanks ladies!

Your Questions About The Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Sandy asks…

how can i get people to stop harrasing me?

I’m 17 years old and not the biggest built person, I am 28 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins. Everything is going perfectly had no complications at all with my pregnancy babies are growing very well. I have people that keep saying to me im going to have a c-section and that i should because i wont be able to go natural. my doctors and midwives think its going to be no problem having a natural birth (which is what i want to do ideally). But no matter how much I tell people the doctors think its going to be fine and so do I, they just keep harrasing me about it, is there anything I can say that may make them leave me alone because its just a pain. Also I prepared the babies room earlier on in the pregnancy (12 weeks pregnant) and people keep telling me im an idiot and getting angry at me for spending money (which im going to do no matter wether i am 12 or 35 weeks pregnant) but the thing is if i left it till the last minute than everyone would tell me that im not doing the right thing aswell. what can i say to get people off my back? thanks for taking out the time to read my question any serious answers are much appreciated. 🙂

Michelle answers:

If someone brings it up, change the subject if it starts to get negative. Keep a positive attitude and don’t show signs of being affected at all by the harassment.
Everyone should stop bothering you (hopefully!)
If I helped, you’re welcome.
If not, sorry 😛

Nancy asks…

period is very late… help????????????

i am 27 yrs old…. had sex with a condom sep 15.. period was due sep 25, but never came.. i am now 9 days late. i read that diet could affect periods and my diet was slightly changed e.g. i have been eating a lot of green veggies and drinking them raw at times. i have also been taking a natural colon cleanser… i haven’t been sick, stressed or under or overweight and i haven’t been worried. i do feel slight cramps like my period is coming but still nothing… i am waiting till the end of this week to take a pregnancy test.. i am not looking forward to being pregnant as it will be a heavy burden and i’m still trying to find a better job… i’m considering abortion…. which i know is not right.. but can i do with no money or health insurance.. why is my period late, help??????

Michelle answers:

To answer your last….your period might be late because you’re pregnant.

You’ll never know until you get tested, though, so go find out for sure. At least then you can start to make informed decisions. Right now, you’re allowing yourself to live in fear (or more likely live in denial followed by flashes of “Oh crap, what am I going to do?”). Go find out for sure.

If you decide not to abort; consider adoption.

Robert asks…

Measurements/Weight Loss/Eating Disorder After Having A Baby?

I have decided to eat healthy and lose weight. I had my baby on Feb 16th, which makes him 3 weeks right now. I do have an eating disorder and i can very quickly get right back into restricting way below a normal of calories, but the fact that i am breast feeding helps a lot, because it forces me to eat a somewhat healthy amount of calories for my baby. I ate pretty good during my pregnancy and he was 7lb 13oz 🙂
Ok now for my questions lol I would like to start losing weight very soon, mostly through diet. I have a heart condition which makes it somewhat hard for me to exercise (walking and light stuff is fine though). Because of my eating disorder history i have REALLY messed up my metabolism and i am currently eating around 1300 calories a day, (which is what i ate during the pregnancy and gained 30lbs) Is there anyways to bump up my metabolism so i an eat a more healthy amount of calories while still losing weight? My baby is gaining weight like crazy breastfeeding even with that caloric intake, but i know it’s not a normal/healthy amount.
Also my measurements are 39ish-29-39 (the boobies vary though because of the breast feeding) and i was kinda shocked that my waist and hips were so large. Are the hips and waist larger because of just having the baby? If so, how many inches could i expect them to go down by normally, from my body healing and the bones and what-not returning to their normal positions?
Another thing is that i really don’t want to get back into my old eating habits. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to keep myself from going back to that? I plan on eating very healthy foods, kinda like i did when i was restricting, except that i’m going to eat a much greater amount. I was only eating between 200-500 calories a day when i was restricting, but i plan on eating about 1500 or so now. (i want to be able to get up to 1800 or so without gaining weight if i am able too with my screwed up metabolism) I plan on eating a lot of tofu, grilled or baked chicken and fish, fresh/frozen vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts, light yogurt, natural peanut better (for protein and calories) and egg whites. Anything else i should add that anyone can think of?

Thanks for any advice you guy/girls can give me!
My pre pregnancy weight was 130 and a size 3 (the lowest i have been was 120 and a size 0) and i was 162 when i went into labor. Right now i am 140 and would like to be 130 again, but i want to do it healthy for my baby. I am 5’8″

Michelle answers:

Never ever measure yourself right after you have your baby! Everything is bigger due to your hips spreading and your stomach muscles seperating. I have struggled with an eating disorder since I was 13 so I feel like we are on the same page. I am currently carrying my fourth child which I have gained 30 lbs. With, but after every baby I feel so scared that I am going to go back to starvation mode. Its how my mind works. But after years of counseling, I understand that my body will fail without adequate food intake. My children need me around, healthy and strong. I have a hard time everyday but I think of my children and change my train of thought. Don’t ever eat anything that makes you feel guilty. It isn’t worth the relapse. You will always have an eating disorder but you CAN control it. I do the South Beach diet. It has worked the fastest to get the weight off. I am always back to pre-pregnancy by the time my children are 3 months old with this diet. Also, my doctor said that if you drink a ton of water that your milk supply will be drastically more. And I did and it was. I wish you luck, be ready for lots of criticism from strangers who have NO idea what you go through. But I do. And I know you can do this. ; )

Ken asks…

I’m 25, very sick, & need help!?

I am 25 years old. In 2007 I began experiencing some pretty disturbing health issues. In January 2007, I became pregnant with my second child. The whole time I had hemorraging complications with no explanation. Pre-pregnancy and post pregnancy I weight in at around 170 pounds. Six months after delivery, I began to lose a rapid amound wieght (unintentionally), followed by severe fatigue, weakness, hair loss, and urinary problems. I have had every test under the sun, I think< but it all comes back normal. These tests include CBC's, MRI's, CT scans, thryroid tests, neurological tests, etc.
I have tried all of the OTC products used for gaining weight, legal and illegal. Nothing seems to work. I lose even more weight and they seem to make me sicker. Now I am completely natural, not even tylenol goes into my body. I take in over 18,000 calories a day by eating every half hour and using whey proteins and shakes. And, heres a shocker, I can go 6 to 12 weeks without having a bowel movement. I see a GI doctor, who needless to say, can’t find anything either (yet).
My doctors are even making me feel like I am crazy, but I know that something is wrong. They say that I am symptomatic and refuse to do cancer tests. What can I do? Could I have cancer? Could I have lupus? Can anyone help me?

Michelle answers:

But yet you are alive. I think you should thank God that you are endowed with the power to live through all of this.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

David asks…

LADIES ONLY…Have you ever been pregnant but the test still say negative???

I use a natural progesterone cream to regulate my cycle, i’m pretty irregular, befor january i didn’t have a period for a year. I had a period january 20-25th, then again february 16th-21st so i had two regular cycles, but this month i was suppose to get it on the 14th and it never came( I used the progesterone cream as directed too) and this past week i have been experiencing sore breasts more or so my nipple area.

I was on a pregnancy test rollercoaster. One was positive then negative then positive…..At the Doctors office it came up negative and I was told to take that as the official outcome. But, my breasts were sooo sore and I couldn’t help but notice I was getting bigger in the breast department everytime I looked in the mirror. Not to mention other places and other symptoms. Finally I switched Doctors and instead of taking a test, the nurse put a doppler on my stomach. Sure enough!! There was a heartbeat of 160. Turns out im 4 months pregnant. LOL!! Kind of glad I got the first trimester over without really noticing. So, tests can be wrong!!! It’s rare, but not impossible since I’m living proof. Good luck!!!

IF you think your pregnant then chances are that its true. A woman just knows…..Same thing happend to me, my period wasnt even a day late yet and I just knew that I was..i went and took 2 tests a week apart, both were negative.. I didnt belive it…I waited another week and took the test again and got a positive one…
YOu have to wait until your HG levels build up in order for it to show that your pregnant whenever you take a test.
My advice is, wait another week and take a test again or get a blood test…a blood test can tell you if you are for sure without waiting another week or 2.
Good luck

Michelle answers:

That is very well possible. Some of the tests state that you can get a result as soon as 5 days before your period. I dont think that is such a thing to believe. It does not happen that way. I took a test the day before my period was due and it came out negative. I waited about 5 more days and took another test, it then came out positive. By that time my period was almost a week late. You need to give your body enough time to produce the pregnancy hormone (hcg) in your system for it to show up in a pregnancy test. And before your period there is not enough. Your body is still probably still figuring out what is going on.

Jenny asks…

Pregnancy? SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!?

I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. It’s been more than two weeks so I think the test would’ve been accurate. In July I had two periods, my natural one & an induced Plan B One Step period.
I am cramping, I’ve only had one headache, I’m not really hungry that often, but I still love foood<3, my boobs are killing me, A LOT of discharge, mostly just like pms.
I'm TERRIBLY scared, someone please calm me down.
My periods due tomorrow and I'm scared I won't get it and I'm stressing like crazy!
(I can't tell my mom because she will KILLLLL me)
PLEASE HELP ME !!

Michelle answers:

If your period is due tomorrow, you’re gonna have to wait until tomorrow. All of those are pms symptoms, too. If you don’t get a period by wednesday (all this stress can cause your period to be late) take a pregnancy test then.

You won’t be able to do it with just diet alone. You need to exercise too. That is the only way to make your body burn more calories while NOT working out.

Richard asks…

please help me with my baby #2 bottlefeeding/ breastfeeding decisions!!?

i have a 2 year old who was strictly formula fed… i tried to nurse him at 3 weeks when he literally turned torwards me, and away from the bottle.. he latched on perfectly and wouldve been a natural, but at that point i didn’t have milk left.. so we just decided to continue with the bottles…

now i’m due in august with baby #2. With my first son’s stomach problems/ vomiting/ formula switches/ etc, and with our financial issues – breastfeeding seems like the easy solution. HOWEVER – i have one big problem. I have SEVERE anxiety, depression, ocd, and adhd disorders… i stopped medication completely for this pregnancy, and life has been beyond a struggle..

my husband told me we’re bottle feeding so that i can get back on meds, because i’ve been really difficult to live with, constant anxiety ruining everything – and i honestly agree that getting back on proper medical care would be smart, with my emotional issues and history of postpartum depression. i know that zoloft is safe while breastfeeding, and during pregnancy – but i also know that it causes withdrawal symptoms in the baby (which are miserable and i wont do that to my son).. and that zoloft alone is not enough

soo… do you think given the circumstances, that bottle feeding might be a healthier solution for all of us? or should i try to keep my sanity for another few months to breastfeed the baby?

Mary asks…

Mothers: What did you love and hate about being pregnant?

I’m well aware that pregnancy can be very uncomfortable. Hell, my menstrual cramps are bad enough to bring me to my knees sometimes. I had to be put on birth control to help control the pain. But my 23 year old sister hates being pregnant. She’s excited for her child, but hates actually being pregnant. She constantly complains about her back pain and her swollen feet, and I can understand that. However, she never focuses on anything happy. For instance, she never talks about feeling her daughter move inside of her, or how happy she was when she first got to see her on the ultrasound. My mom says she’s making pregnancy sound a lot worse than it is, and that she LOVED being pregnant. What do you think?

BQ: Did you have a natural birth?

Michelle answers:

Yes, i had a natural birth with my first and she is 2.

I am also 17 weeks pregnant with number 2. I love the pregnancy belly, the ultrasounds, hearing the heartbeat, going to find out the gender(i am this monday:)), the cute maternity clothes, having an excuse for cravings lol, and feeling my baby move and kick me.

I dont like the patience of waiting to meet my baby, the indigestion, the morning sickness, the hotter body temperature than normal, the stretch marks, the worrying of miscarriage or still birth or baby not crying when born, or the natural labor pain.

Overall, i LOVE being pregnant, i think it is amazing to have another life being formed inside of me 🙂

James asks…

Is there anything I can do to help my belly go down faster?

I had our son last tuesday September 2nd, pre-pregnancy I was 105 and right before I had him I weighed in at 148 so big drastic change, anyways I had a natural vaginal delivery no pain meds but I was induced so I had the pitocin then also the other regular IV meds they give you. I still look about 5-ish months pregnant and it is very annoying this is my first baby so I assumed I would just like have a jelly belly or something not still a pregnancy looking belly. My feet are also very swollen. Just wanting to know if there is anything I can do to no look so pregnant anymore? Is it normal, he is 3 days old now 🙂

Michelle answers:

Give it time, most of the bulge is your stretched out uterus which will take weeks to go back to it’s prepregnancy size. You also probably have alot of retained fluids that will also take time to leave your system. At 3 days postpartum, what your body looks like should not concern you much as long as baby is healthy, and you are recovery well. Breastfeeding will help with future baby weight loss. I was 110 when I got pregnant and was 165 before my son was born 10 months ago and now I am back down to 110, so don’t sweat it, you’ll be back to your old self in no time.
