Your Questions About Fox News

Sharon asks…

What percentage of Fox News viewers express bigoted views?

I understand that empirical data may be hard to come by. But if the statements of Fox News employees and contributors are bigoted, what can that say about their viewers?
I like the view of andy. I too find many of the contributors at all three outlets to be obnoxious or perhaps overbearing. I see them more as entertainers.

Michelle answers:

Half

Helen asks…

Why is it that on Fox News every time they talk about a missing person it happens to be white?

Every time there is a story of a missing person that person is always white. Why is that? I’m not picking on fox but most of the time is fox news running those type of stories. You can’t tell me that there are not black, hispanic or asians, decent ppl being kidnapped as well. Why?

Michelle answers:

That is a lie, you are obviously a quite clueless liberal desperately trying to insinuate Fox is bad because they have the audacity to present the facts.

James asks…

How do we stop Fox News from dividing America with their fear mongering hate?

Fox News is trying to make whites afraid of blacks just like Richard Nixon’s Southern Strategy in the 1960’s when most southern whites switched over to republican.

Michelle answers:

The only real way to stop Fox, is by bringing legal action and having their broadcast license suspended or revoked for Hate speech.

I am sure some well paid lawyers could succeed.

Beyond that……..I stop them by not watching their filth and garbage. They sell false info and lies.

Not interesting in buying, thanks. But I hear they do booming business among the teabagger crowds.

What can ya do? Fools will be fools.

Donald asks…

Is fox news an accomplice for this failing republican administration?

Isn’t biased fox news policy, the push wind for the lying and hypocrite republicans?

Michelle answers:

Well, all U.S. Media is biased, but yeah Fox definitely loves the reps.

Your Questions About Firefox

Charles asks…

Can I get Firefox to always open media files in an external player?

It is very annoying to me that Firefox always opens mp3, wmv, mpg and opther file types in the browser window. Is there a way to set it to always open these files in winamp, VLC player, or anything else?

Michelle answers:

Firefox has an option under “Tools” called “Downloadhelper”
If you’re on a page that has a video running like Youtube or whatever it will allow you to save that file into a directory in your computer. If you don’t see DLH under Tools you may need to go into Tools then Options and add that handy item to your browser.

The mozzila firefox is removed from the add remove programs but still it is not uninstalled. I would like to uninstall it is there any way to uninstall it using command promt or from registry?

Your Questions About Facebook

Nancy asks…

How can facebook handle so many users in real time with php?

There are millions of users on Facebook at a time. Despite this, Facebook is able to update people’s news feeds with others activity in real time. With what structure of php can this be accomplished.

Michelle answers:

Actually both of the answers above suck.
Look into ‘HipHop’
It’s a code translator that the Facebook team made that converts the PHP code to C++, allowing them to compile it. Since compiled code runs much faster than interpreted code (except ASP/ASP.NET, which just sucks in general) it allows them to accomplish much faster loading times.
As well, it’s not only the code that allows them to do such. You have to consider that they’re running constant queries to their databases, thus their queries have to be top-notch. Writing a query well will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to pull from the database. This includes indexes, proper queries, using prepared statements when need be, and database optimization.

Having a whole databank of servers does NOT make your website run faster. In fact, it adds overhead to the whole process, thus potentially increasing loading times. So there’s both answers proven wrong.
What HipHop did for them was significantly reduced the server load and time required to process the code, thus allowing them to process more on one server, and compile their code. The only con of that was losing some commands such as eval().
I personally compile my PHP source and use it as such. You also have to ensure that when you write it, it’s properly structured and that the best practices are used. This will also significantly reduce processing time and load.

Your Questions About Forever 21

Mark asks…

Are the prices at a forever 21 in a mall different than the forever 21 on michigan avenue?

I know the tax is more expensive, but are the general prices still the same at the forever 21 on michigan avenue in chicago?

Michelle answers:

Besides sales tax, you will pay a lot for parking unless you take public transportation. Why not make a day of it with lunch and other shopping if you go.

Thomas asks…

How to find cute stuff on the forever 21 website & in the store?

I get so overwhelmed when trying to look through the clothes at forever 21 online and in the store because there is just SOO many clothes! What is a way I can find the stuff I am looking for without searching forever?

Michelle answers:

Don’t search online , you can’t try it . Go to the store and you can try the clothes and see which fits you the best .

Sharon asks…

How long does it take Forever 21 to respond to a resume?

I just submitted my resume (sales associate) online to Forever 21 yesterday. How long does it usually take Forever 21 to respond to a resume?

Michelle answers:

Well i’m not too sure when exactly most businesses reply, but to boost your chances of a call back, you should call them and check in on your application. It shows you are persistant and wanting work. It always works well for me 🙂 good luck

Robert asks…

How long does Forever 21 take to deliver?

I ordered five items on the Forever 21 website (shipping was free because it was over fifty dollars) on Sunday. How long does it generally take?

Michelle answers:

It usually takes them 1-2 days to give the package to UPS, then 5-10 days for it to be delivered. It varies a little with weekends and holidays.

The last time I ordered something online from Forever 21 was Monday, January 3. It was shipped on Wednesday, January 5 and delivered on Wednesday, January 10. I live in South Florida and I’m pretty sure that they ship from somewhere in California. It may take even less time if you live closer than I do.

Your Questions About Food Network

Jenny asks…

So what happened with Rachael Ray on the Food Network?

I have noticed her only program on the FN is 30 minute meals. I realize she has little time with her daytime show but is she going to disapear from the Food Network all together?

I like her better on the FN.

Michelle answers:

Same way with Paula Deen once they get famous they forget there roots and go for bigger and more $$$$ I am with you I believe it will go off the air. As many new cooks there bringing in, I mean makes you think what are they going to do with the ones who started it all? I know I didn’t answer but just a thought.

Mark asks…

I am looking for a recipe shown on Food Network a few years ago, called Neapolitan Chicken.?

This recipe was shown on a show where Food Network sent it’s people all over the country to meet with people with unique or popular recipes. This recipe was being made in a fire house by one of the shift firemen. I remember it had pasta, fresh tomatoes, olive juice, but not sure what else or the measurements. If anyone has this recipe or knows the firemen that has this recipe I would greatly appreciate a copy of it.

Michelle answers:

I searched food network and found the recipie. Happy cooking.

2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 1 tablespoon
6 to 8 cloves garlic, crushed, divided
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh oregano, divided
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh basil, divided
25 to 30 Roma tomatoes, diced
2 pounds chicken breast, diced into 1/2 -inch pieces, seasoned with salt and pepper
3 cups chicken broth
2 (10-ounce) cans sliced black pitted olives, with juice
2 pounds gemelli pasta

Pour 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet on medium heat and saute half of the crushed garlic in the oil along with 1 teaspoon basil and 1 teaspoon oregano. Add the tomatoes, a cup at a time, to the skillet. Once all the tomatoes are in the pan, allow them to reduce by a fourth.
In a separate pan, cook the chicken with remaining oil, crushed garlic, basil, and oregano. Cook until chicken is brown. Set the pan aside but do not discard any liquid that may be in the pan.

Once the tomato broth mixture has reduced, add the chicken, chicken broth and juice from the olives to the pan and allow it to continue to cook. In total, the tomato mixture will cook for approximately 1 hour. In a large stockpot, bring water to a boil in order to cook the pasta. Add salt and the pasta and cook until al dente or approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Drain the pasta in a colander and place in a large bowl. Add the finished tomato and chicken sauce to the pasta mix and serve. Note: Keep an eye on the reduction process, if it is reducing to quickly add a little water.

Serve with fresh grated Romano and sliced black olives.

A viewer, who may not be a professional cook, provided this recipe. The FN chefs have not tested this recipe and therefore, we cannot make representation as to the results.

Lizzie asks…

What food network personalities have no formal training?

I’m just curious to find out what food network personalities have no formal training. Any other famous chefs?

Michelle answers:

Most of them. Especially the loud mouth ones who think they are chefs – Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, The Neely’s, Melissa D’Arabian, the Deen “boys”, probably a ton of others.

I quit watching Food Network because they run those Guy Fee-etti (aka Ferry) marathons all day and all night, every day and night. He probably has no formal training. Most of the personalities talk way too much and that gets very tiresome.

Really, it doesn’t matter. If you like them, like the food they cook and they seem to know what they’re doing, enjoy it. Most of them have had their 15 minutes, I no longer watch them.

Michael asks…

How to cook white rice in the food network food steamer?

I bought the food network food steamer with the rice bowl, it did not come with recipes to make white rice, and was hoping if anyone had better luck at making it?

Michelle answers:

In the kitchen where ya belong pansy

Your Questions About Fox News

Nancy asks…

What will I become after watching fox news straight for 2 weeks?

I am doing an experiment soon. I will be watching ONLY fox news and NO OTHER MEDIA OUTLET for the next 2 weeks. I will not watch ANY OTHER TV program. I will watch fox news re-runs on tv and on youtube. The goal is to then engage in conversation with my friends afterwards and see what they say.

What do you think they will say? Most of my friends are either liberal or central.

Michelle answers:

Why do people always talk in extremes when they talk about Fox news. Why not just watch a couple hours a week and do something else. You can’t impress Liberals they will insult you if you watch it a lot or just a little. I don’t watch TV at all and they periodically have to make up that I do so as to insult me. It’s no use trying to reason with these people. Don’t waste your time with experiments.

Lizzie asks…

Why is Fox news ignoring the democrats wins yesterday while making the republicans wins the biggest news story?

So does this prove that all Fox news is just a republican cheer leading TV program that does not care about real news. They way the portray the governor wins is like it was the greatest thing since 911. Where is the coverage on the democratic wins which seats have more clout.

Michelle answers:

This is a Democrats base problem, and this is what Democrats better take from Last night elections .

1. If you abandon Democratic principles in a bid for unnecessary “bipartisanship”, you will lose votes.

2. If you water down reform in favor of Blue Dogs and their corporate benefactors, you will lose votes.

3. If you forget why you were elected — health care, financial services, energy policy and immigration reform — you will lose votes.

Tonight proved conclusively that we’re not going to turn out just because you have a (D) next to your name, or because Obama tells us to. We’ll turn out if we feel it’s worth our time and effort to vote.

Paul asks…

Why does fox news claim to be unbiased and then throw a fit when some points out it has a conservative lean?

To be fair MSNBC and CNN have a super liberal lean… But for fox news to claim it is unbiased is completely false. I do believe it is fair for the conservatives to have they’re own news stations but to claim your fair and balanced when your not is dumb. Hannity, glen beck, Billy ‘o Reily, Bret Bumne, and virtually all of the anchors have conservative leanings. I mean come on… The viewership is like 80% conservative.

Michelle answers:

Fox News caters to people who are not intelligent enough to think for themselves. Anyone with intelligence knows they have a conservative lean, however it is wealthy conservatives that want to keep working class people down, how better than to have a news channel they call “Fair and Balanced” and convince working people of low intelligence level they should vote against their own best interests.

Ken asks…

What study has actually proved watching fox news makes you dumb?

There is a difference between dumb people watching fox and fox actually making you dumb.

I’m not defending fox, I think all those news channels are biased. All same crap, different toilet.
Once again all those links just show dumb people are watching fox, there is nothing showing that fox actually *makes* you dumb!

Michelle answers:

You have to be dumb to start watching Fox news so no doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you seem dumber.

Your Questions About Fox 23

Steven asks…

Doesn’t NY-23 prove the American people have chosen traditional liberal values over radical conservatism?

If Fox News were truly fair and balanced, wouldn’t they have to ask this question along with all the ones they’re asking today about Virginia and New Jersey?

Michelle answers:

NY 23rd proves that in three way elections you can get winners with less than a majority.

Chris asks…

What do you think of Fox News showing Huge Crowds for Palin’s book, when it was clips from her 2008 campaign?

Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luNheD4DGr8

Now fox news is implementing a a “No Mistakes Policy”

Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors. Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the “mistake chain,” and those who supervise them. That may include warning letters to personnel files, suspensions, and other possible actions up to and including termination, and this will all obviously play a role in performance reviews. So we now face a great opportunity to review and improve on our workflow and quality control efforts. To make the most of that opportunity, effective immediately, Newsroom is going to “zero base” our newscast production. That means we will start by going to air with only the most essential, basic, and manageable elements. To share a key quote from today’s meeting: “It is more important to get it right, than it is to get it on.” We may then build up again slowly as deadlines and workloads allow so that we can be sure we can quality check everything before it makes air, and we never having to explain, retract, qualify or apologize again. Please know that jobs are on the line here. I can not stress that enough.

The above text block is the fox news memo, just fyi

Michelle answers:

I don’t really care. It’s only preaching to the choir. No one watches Fox to hear news, they watch to hear what they want to hear.

Laura asks…

Is Jon Slater from Fox 23 news and actor Christian Slater related?

They resemble each other alot and their voice tones sound the same.

Michelle answers:

No relation.

Donald asks…

Your Questions About Fafsa

Lisa asks…

My income is dramatically different from when I filled out FAFSA, how can I get more aid?

When I filled out the FAFSA form for this years financial aid, they asked for my income information from two years ago. Back then I was making significantly more money than I am now. I feel like the estimated amount of need is too low. Who do I talk to about this, and is there a way I can show that I have more need? Do I have to take out a personal loan or up my hours at work?

Michelle answers:

They ask for the previous years’ income information because you’re expected to save and pay for some of your own schooling (depending on what your income was). If you’re classified as a displaced worker, then you will qualify for an amendment (contact your financial aid office). If you do not classify as a displaced worker, then it doesn’t matter what your current income is… They’ll still go by your income in 2009 (for the 2010-2011 fafsa). Next year when you fill out the 2011-2012 fafsa, you’ll use your 2010 income and you may receive more aid during the next school year. I would increase your work hours before you take out a personal loan… And you should be looking at student loans, not personal loans. If you’re not working full-time, then increase your hours if you need more money.

Richard asks…

How and where do I find out how much my fafsa is paying?

I filed my fafsa a little over a week ago. I have no recieved anything in the mail nor have I recieved an email of any kind. My schooling will be roughly around $7,000. My EFC is 8375? What does this mean? Is that bad? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

If your EFC is over 5274, you won’t qualify for any Pell Grants. You might be eligible for some state or institutional grants. Check with your school’s financial aid office – they might need some additional information. Schools typically receive your FAFSA results within 2 business days, so they should be able to give you further instructions if you give them a call!

Steven asks…

Fafsa?????

IF you have both parents, what would happen if you only put one parents income for the FAFSA? What happens if you do not qualify for the FAFSA?

Michelle answers:

You are supposed to use the income of the parent you lived with the most in the last 12 months.

If it was neither, you use the income of the one that gave you the most support in the last 12 months.

If you live with both parents, you must use them both. It doesn’t matter if they file sep. Or married filing jointly. You would have to add their income together if they file married filing sep.

Mary asks…

Can I use fafsa money to buy a laundry bag and bag to wash my bra in?

Can I use fafsa money to buy a laundry bag and bag to wash my bra in? Would that be considered supplies? Can I buy a drawer thing to put my clothes in with fafsa loan money?

Michelle answers:

Of course. Anything that you will need for school. Some kids stupidly accept higher loans so they have more to spend but dont forget you have to pay that back and with interest so you do not want huge monthly payments when you have to start paying them back and interest will be adding on those totals so keep them low, only to what you need and personal expenses and you can even use the loan money for travel expenses like gas or even to go home if you go to school away from college buying a train or plane ticket.
