How do I get my facebook friends back on my facebook wall?

I HIDE some of my facebook friends off my wall. How do I put them back on my wall?

Michelle answers:

When you log into Facebook, you will see two options on your wall just above your feed, to view –
1. News Feed
2. Live Feed

Click on “Live feed’ then go to the bottom of the page. Click on “Edit options” just where your feeds end.
Here you will be able to see your friends that have been hidden.

If you are viewing “News Feed” and then you click on “Edit options” then you will see “hidden applications”

William asks…

How do I sign out of gallery facebook on Droid Incredible 2?

I signed on to facebook on my friends Android Droid Incredible 2 under facebook in the gallery section and cant sign out. How do i?

Michelle answers:

If you’re talking about the facebook app, then do this:

1) Press the button in the upper-left corner that looks like three parallel lines.
2) Scroll all the way down to account… Press it
3) Select Logout

If youre saying that you accidentally linked your facebook account with the phone itself, then go to:
Go to settings > accounts & sync > press on facebook > remove account
(this may vary slightly by android version and/or manufacturer skin)

one of those two should be what you’re looking for

I “upgraded” to Firefox 4 but now cannot find the toolbars or any of the necessary functions. How do I restore those things?

David asks…

How do I get flash player to work in firefox?

Ever since I updated Firefox a few months ago, I have had issues with flash player. Streamed media like youtube videos works fine, as do most flash games. However, flash animations on the deviantart website refuse to play, instead showing a white box. I’ve tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling it but that had no effect, and now I can’t get them to play in IE either.

Michelle answers:

Try Here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7
Good luck.

Daniel asks…

How do I make Yahoo Mail open in Firefox instead of Internet Explorer?

Firefox is my default browser.

Michelle answers:

Earl, I have the answer to this. I recently emailed you and told you I’d let you know, but this was EVERYONE with this problem can fix it in no time at all.
All you have to do is THIS:
click START….then click RUN…then type (or cut and paste this)
firefox.exe -silent -setDefaultBrowser

there ya go. Send yourself a test…mine worked immediately.
Oh, I learned this from a Y! Messenger online chat customer service agent, Jordan. He was great!

Helen asks…

why is firefox all of a sudden really laggy?

I’ve been using firefox for many years now, and hasn’t encountered any major problems. However, recently firefox has become extreme laggy.
I deleted the cache and temporary internet files but it still doesn’t work.
How can this be fixed?

Michelle answers:

Have you tried alternate browsers to see if they’re suffering a similar problem? Is windows updating? Any other programs updating?

The uninstall/reinstall browser option usually works. Just back up your bookmarks.

Also, firefox suffers a memory management issue, if you don’t exit firefox after a while it will consume your RAM.

Of course, your swap space is probably around twice the size of your RAM so I doubt that would cause too much of a problem.

Your Questions About Facebook Login

Sandy asks…

How to recover or unblock a facebook acount from sending messages and friend request?

In case when these facilites are disabled by facebook for 7 days, 30 days or permanantly?
Please mention any specific detail for 7 day blocked acount, 30 day blocked acount or permantly blocked acount separately.

Michelle answers:

Facebook once block my account for I changed the login place in another country. It asked me to offer my birthday or special 5 friends’ photo. Maybe in such way, it prevent people from adding unknown people.

If you can not suppy those, you can not recovery any more. It has no relationship with 7 days, 30 days….

Daniel asks…

Why does facebook now think my laptop has a different IP address?

I have logged into facebook as usual from my own laptop this morning. But I have received e-mails saying that I have logged in from a new IP address. It is me logging in, as the times match. But does this mean something has been done to my computer without my knowledge or is it likely to be a fault at Facebook?

Michelle answers:

Most isps use a dynamic ip adress so your ip address can change, this is normal and happens usually if you switch off or restart your router but could also happen if for some reason your internet connection has dropped and restarted.

I’m not sure if facebook differentiates between mobile and computer logins so it could also be due to the difference in IP address on a mobile application and the laptop.

There is also the possibility that someone else has accessed your facebook account, if you are worried about this then change your password. As the times of the emails match when you logged in this should not be the case though.

Donna asks…

How do i post the trophies i get on facebook?

Charles asks…

Your Questions About Fox News

Thomas asks…

Do you have to be a conservative republican to work at fox news and isn’t that discrimination?

Does fox news only hire conservative republicans and how would you prove that on their job interview?

Michelle answers:

I don’t think they have to be republican but they have to be conservative or willing to play to Fox news’ agenda to bash the left.

Sandy asks…

Could there be a connection between the definition of fox and the agenda of the Fox News channel?

If you google ‘define fox‘ and click on web definitions of fox, you’ll discover a definition that is quite interesting, atleast to me it’s interesting. The definition for fox is a dodger: a shifty deceptive person. Many people refuse to watch Fox News, do you believe there could be a connection?

Michelle answers:

While ironic, I doubt that particular meaning of fox was what they wanted to associate with. Foxes are also often associated with cleverness, cunning, subtlety, and sometimes used to describe beautiful women.

(I think your question is just fine where it is)

Maria asks…

Does any media outlet spend as much time and space talking about other media outlets as Fox News?

I watch Fox News and CNN regularly, and I’ve noticed that Fox News spends a lot of time talking about how other media cover the news, while CNN doesn’t so much. I figure this must be part of Fox News marketing strategy, slandering its competitors in order to solidify the loyalty of its own viewers. Do other media outlets do this, like MSNBC, or just the conservative ones, like Fox News?

Michelle answers:

Try this…

Charles asks…

How do I become a Fox News Contributor?

I don’t know where on the internet to look for becoming a Fox News Contributor so I can become a sponsor and to express my political views. When Sara Palin became a Contributor to the Fox News I certainly like to know what the steps are.

Michelle answers:

Your Questions About Fox 23

Jenny asks…

Is it more apropo for a young American man or our controllers to obsess over bringing an Asian baby to the USA?

That is part of the theme of a movie called “Gigantic” about a young American man in his early twenties who says he has been obsessed with adopting a Chinese baby ever since he could remember. Does this strike you as very odd, because it sounds like blatant social engineering for globalization and destruction of American culture for the benefit of our Zionist controllers

Michelle answers:

Works for me…my idea of an asian baby is a 23 year old female drop dead fox that will rock my boat…

Susan asks…

At what age to cats live to?

My cat is 10 this april, she has had a great life so far, although she did get attacked by a fox and had to have a little bit of the end of her tongue off and has 8 stitches in her leg muscle from the bite.
Since this she has been still the same old tiffany but i was wondering if fhis will effect her as she ages?

Michelle answers:

Cat life spans vary greatly. Indoor cats live significantly longer. Sometimes as much as twice as long. A homeless cat usually lives about a year before it is killed by disease, a wild animal, car, person, etc.
Some cats, no matter how well you take care of them, are just not healthy and may only live to be 5-10 if they develop cancer, lymphoma or kidney problems. They can be very delicate. Other cats can live into their twenties if they are indoor only and well cared for. The oldest cat on record was around 35!

I’ve had and worked with dozens of cats in rescue work. I’ve seen cats die at 4 years due to FIV, but I’ve also had cats that live to be around 20. My oldest was about 23. In my experience, a healthy, indoor cat should live to at least 18 easily and still be playful and active.

I don’t know if the attack you described will shorten your cat’s life or not, but being outside definitely can. She could be exposed to FIP, FIV, leukemia, rabies, cruel humans, vehicles, poisons, traps, bigger animals, etc. If you want her to live a longer life, she’d need to be cared for indoors before she suffers from another traumatic attack! I feel really sorry for her having to go through that fox attack. I love my cats far, far too much to expose them to that kind of danger.

Lizzie asks…

Fox News: Online scams have almost doubled in the past year?

Online internet scams are on the rise now more than ever.
The biggest victims are the young and the elderly.
The biggest rise in scams are work at home sites and debt consolidation sites.
Please yahoo users – be careful – this is serious.

Michelle answers:

I assume this is because of the economy. People are taking advantage of the economic crisis that we are in. Its really sad now. There are A LOT of online scams. However, there are a few in which are legit. Please dont mark this as spam, because this really does work.

Well, one day I stumbled on to a little thread. It was titled: Making money online. I was bored and curious as to what this would say. I read of this site called Cashcrate and how it was the most recommended for making money online. When I first read this, I was thought like most other people do, that Cashcrate is a scam. However, I saw that this site is a recommended website. So I did some research. I looked all over the web, Yahoo! Answers, Yahoo! Search, Google Search and Youtube. I did this research for a month. Then by the end of the month, I came to the conclusion that this site is indeed a legit site. So I signed up. The next month, I got a check for $23.05. While I was doing my research, I thought where I would put the money. Then I thought that I would just save it. So I deposited into my savings and there was no problems and no questions asked. I recommend this site for people who just want to put a little extra money in their pockets. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO REPLACE YOUR JOB! There are some people that make $100 but they spend alot of time on this site.

Link: http:// cashcrate .com/922152

^^remove the space. The numbers in the end just lets Cashcrate know that I referred you.

They also have a forum. Users on this forum are very friendly and will help answer questions on anything you have.

Now if you still dont believe what I say, do your own research. You will find that this site is the most legit.

*To Joe* Well I do get a reward for a referral.

William asks…

When I try to go on Youtube it wont load the website?

I got all the lastest java and flash player, but it just blank when i try to go to it.I use Fire Fox

Michelle answers:

If you keep getting “HELLO, YOU EITHER HAVE JAVASCRIPT TURNED OFF OR AN
OLD VERSION OF ADOBE’S FLASH PLAYER….GET THE LATEST FLASH PLAYER”:

don’t bother downloading and re-installing the latest Flash over and over and over again.
You will get absolutely nowhere doing that, because that is only adding to the problem.

There can really be only 3 possibilities:
? Something’s wrong with YouTube
? Something’s wrong with your cache
? Something’s wrong with Flash 10

YOUTUBE:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Your problem might fix itself in a few hours, or the next day,
because YouTube actually shuts down a lot of their servers
every day without telling anyone, (in order to update things).
On those occasions, it’s really YouTube’s transmissions of
“JavaScript” and “Flash” which are poor, not your reception
of it. This in turn creates “time-out” or “run-time” errors that
give that message. Hit “F5”, click “Refresh”, or click “Back”
and then “Forward”.

CACHE:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
If the next day YouTube is still displaying that awful “JS/FP”
message, maybe your “temporary internet files” and cache
memory are full, and can’t take anymore. The result: videos
can’t even begin to buffer.

“Temporary internet files” are 1000s of tiny bits of websites
put on your hard-drive. They’ll stay there forever, and slowly
plug up your computer – (like hair slowly clogs a sink drain)
until you get rid of them. Otherwise, one day your YouTube
will suddenly be “stuck”.

Because your computer now has such little space in which
to “cache” a video, YouTube will mistakenly think that your
Java Script “run-time environment” or “buffer overflow” is off,
or that your player is older than “FLASH 7”.

The solution to all that is to exit YouTube (but not your web
browser), then clear your “cache” of all its “TIFs”, “cookies”
and “history”. (See below.) After that, shutdown and reboot.

FLASH:
¯¯¯¯¯¯
Watching YouTube vids hasn’t changed in the past 2 years.
(Believe it or not, you can still use “Flash 8” if you’d like to).
The newer Flash players are giving many YouTubers plenty
of grief — particularly since there are 11 different “Flash 10s”.
It’s nuts that there is 10.0.525, 10.0.576, 10.1.218, 10.2.26,
10.2.54, 10.12.10, 10.12.36, 10.15.3, 10.22.87, 10.23.1, as
well as the most recent 10.32.18.

Most updates are good for only 1 thing:…Software conflicts.
I’ve never strayed away from 9.47, and many “flashers” use
9.45 still. Think of them as Windows XP compared to Vista.
Look at what the Asker said after this Best Answer of mine:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081125075929AABZpVS
If that seems interesting to you, here is the appropriate link:
http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php?old_flash_player=14

Note 1: if you’ve got an “Accelerator”, dump it, burn it, rip it,
kick it, trash it, disable it, uninstall it…get as far away from
it as possible. There are some “Ad Block” and “Messenger”
programs that also conflict with YouTube.

Note 2: some longer videos may need “Shockwave” to play
properly.

Note 3: a very odd fix that once worked for me was altering
the URL from “www.youtube.com” to simply “youtube.com”.

Note 4: if you downloaded Flash, did you actually install it?
If you have Firefox or IE 8, did you enable all their add-ons?

Mozilla Firefox 3:

Your Questions About Food Network

Jenny asks…

What is wrong if a clam shell doesnt open when cooked?

I was just watching Food Network and they were making a pasta with clams in it. They started to say that if a clam isn’t open, then you shouldn’t open it.

Michelle answers:

Hello

If you put the clams into cold fresh water and leave for an hour discard any that do not open
It means that it is dead, You should only cook live ones. So any that do not open when cooked discard as well.
Upset stomachs otherwise.

Chris asks…

What company or companies can mold sorbet into a fruit shape?

I saw on a food network show a company that molded sorbet into the fruit that it came from, they froze it and could ship it out as well. What was the company’s name?

Michelle answers:

I don’t know, but I have seen sorbet that came in pineapple/coconut/lemon shell at Costco and some grocers

John asks…

Anyone have a great recipe for peach bread?

I was watching Jamie and Bobby Deen (Love them!) on the food network tonight and they were in Atlanta, Ga. They went to a place that makes great peach bread….

I’m going peach picking this Saturday, and was wondering if any one had a good recipe or knew a website with one on it.

Thanks!

Michelle answers:

How about one of these?

Georgia Peach Bread

3 cups fresh peaches, sliced
6 TBsp. Sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
1 tsp. Vanilla

Place peaches and 6 tablespoons sugar in container of
blender or food processor. Process until pureed.
Mixture should yield about 2-1/4 cups. Combine flour,
baking powder, soda, salt, and cinnamon; set aside.
Combine 1-1/2 cups sugar and shortening. Cream well.
Add eggs and mix well. Add peach puree and dry
ingredients; mix until dry ingredients are moistened.
Stir in nuts and vanilla. Spoon batter into 2 well
greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees or
until done. Cool for 10 minutes in pan. Turn out on
rack and let cool completely.

Peach Cobbler Bread

1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp almond extract
1 cup diced peeled peaches
1 2/3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Topping:
2 Tbls chopped pecans
2 Tbls brown sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in water and extracts. Stir in peaches. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in pecans. Pour into a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.

Peach Monkey Bread

1/3 cup peach jam
1 tube refrigerated biscuits
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

In mixing bowl combine the peach jam, honey and nuts. Stir in the melted butter and set aside.

Separate the 10 biscuits and cut each in quarters. Using half of the pieces, layer them in an 8-inch pie tin. Spread half of the peach jam mixture over the biscuits. Place the remaining biscuit pieces on top and spread with the remaining jam mixture. Bake at 350 degrees to 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a deep golden brown. Invert onto a serving dish. Pull apart to serve.

NOTE: Just about any flavor jam or preserves may be used. A ready-made frosting may be used as an icing, if desired.

Donald asks…

How do I cook well on a crappy stove?

I live in an apartment so I have no control over the appliances in my kitchen. The stove is a cruddy electric range abomination with slanted, uneven, gunky burners (yes, I do clean them but there’s alway something on the left one that makes it smoke) that don’t respond exactly to the heating controls. I love cooking and am so jealous watching the Food Network stars creating food masterpieces with their expensive cookware, kooky gadgets, and amazing appliances. I suppose the cookware is part of the problem, but I just don’t have the money for the gourmet quality stuff. How do I adjust my cooking practices on my crappy stove with my hand-me-down pots and pans to replicate their perfectly clarified butter, precisely medium pan-seared filet minion, flawless balsamic-wine glaze reduction, and pristine not-curdled hollandaise?

Michelle answers:

Cooking on crappy appliances and cookware is a true test of a cook’s patience. Before I completely remodeled my kitchen I found that I had to spend a lot more time watching the stove and the food. You have to really get to know your electric range so you know what to watch for – turning itself off, one burner hotter than the rest, etc. Your oven will need the same patience and you can test it with an oven thermometer so you’ll have an idea of how to adjust when baking in it. You may also find that sauces are easier on an electric pan (I had a giant one that I used “on the side” because I could better control the heat of that electric pan).
Pass the word to friends and family that you’d really appreciate cookware or kitchen stuff as gifts.
I wish you MUCH culinary luck!

Your Questions About Fafsa

Linda asks…

What year of high school do you apply for FAFSA for financial aid?

Also when can you apply for scholarships. You start applying when you get approved of FAfSA right?

Michelle answers:

Your scholarship search should start NOW and continue for the entire time you are in college. You fill out your fafsa as soon after Jan 1st as possible (your senior year) and after you and your folks do your FAFSA application.

The fafsa is NOT a scholarship application and has nothing to do with you searching for scholarships. In other words, don’t WAIT until after you do your fafsa to look for scholarships.

James asks…

When can I start filling out my FAFSA?

I am about to be a senior in high school, and I am anxious to fill out my FAFSA. Would it be okay if I filled out the 2010-2011 one? Or do I need to wait?

Michelle answers:

The 2010-2011 FAFSA is for financial aid for Fall 2010, Spring 2011, and Summer 2011.

If you are about to be a high school senior you will not graduate until Spring 2011 so you will not be eligible for the 2010-2011 FAFSA because you will not be attending college during those terms.

If you are starting college in Fall 2011 you will complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA. The earliest you can complete the FAFSA is Jan 2011, each state has different deadlines for initial rewards you can check these deadlines on the FAFSA website. Also you complete a new FAFSA for every year you are in college. In order to complete your FAFSA you will need your parents tax returns for 2010, so be sure to tell them to file their taxes early because they may be used to filing by the April 15th deadline.

If you go to the FAFSA website www.fafsa.gov you can print out FAFSA worksheets that will show you how to complete the FAFSA so that you can be prepared. Of course the worksheets maybe for 2010-2011, but they will be the same for 2011-2012.

Even though it is too early to apply for federal aid, it is never too early to apply for scholarships, check out fastweb, com for scholarships you can apply for now.

Ken asks…

What do I do about the FAFSA when the latest tax forms my parents filled out are for 2004?

The latest tax info I have for my parents is for 2004, but the FAFSA is asking for info for 2006. What can I do, my parents will file eventually, but not for awhile. They havn’t even started on their 2005 forms yet.

Michelle answers:

There should be a place on there to put that tax forms have not been filed,,,, and to listed estimated income,,,,,, if not,,, call the toll free FAFSA number or your financial aid office

John asks…

Is there a portion on the FAFSA to indicate the status of being a twin?

On the FAFSA, it asks about siblings in the family that are “currently in college”. However, since I am a twin, and neither or us will be “currently in college” at the time of filing the FAFSA, how do we indicate that we are twins? I have been looking around the work sheet for the FAFSA, and I simply cannot figure it out. Is there something I am overlooking? Thanks so much.

Michelle answers:

You wouldn’t be filling out the fafsa if you weren’t expecting to be “in college”. So you need to READ this question carefully.

The question is worded like this:
How many people in your household will be college students between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010? (Q97)
Always count yourself. Include others only if they will attend, at least half-time in 2009-2010, a program that leads to a college degree or certificate

So if you are a twin and your twin is also going to college the answer to this question is TWO! And if you have older siblings who are also in college and required to list your parents info on the fafsa application they would also be included in the number in college (and the number in the household).

Your Questions About Firefox

Richard asks…

Will Firefox notify me when a more up to date version is available?

I’m now using Firefox and can’t believe why I didn’t sooner. I’m loving it and want to be sure I always have the current version.

Michelle answers:

Yes it will. I have firefox too

Susan asks…

How can I stop the facebook notifications on firefox?

I faintly recall when I downloaded firefox about getting notifications from facebook that pop on on the bottom right of the screen. Maybe I’m wrong and it was something added on but I want to be rid of it. It’s enough with the actual facebook ones on the left side. Can someone help me, please?

Michelle answers:

Firefox offers add-ons for Facebook notifications. Apparently, your system has one of these. You can easily remove it:

1.Open Firefox and click ‘Firefox’ at the top (click ‘Tools’ in case you have Windows XP) and click ‘Add-ons’.
2.In the left pane, click ‘Extensions’ or ‘Appearance’ to look for the add-on and click the ‘Remove’ button corresponding to it.
3.Click ‘Restart now’.

For example
I want yahoo answers and gmail to open when i run firefox.
I found an add-on called ‘speeddial’ i think thats what my sister uses.

Michelle answers:

Just go to “tools”-> “options” and where it says homepage, enter all the sites you want to open at startup, seperated by this: | (note that’s not an L or I, so just copy and paste it)

xSo for Yahoo answers and Gmail to open when you start firefox, put: http://answers.yahoo.com/ | https://mail.google.com/

Your Questions About Food Network

Betty asks…

Does anyone know a recipe for fondant?

I see on the Food Network challenges, the bakers use it a lot on their cakes.

Michelle answers:

Rolled Fondant

This icing is rolled out and used as a covering for a firm cake such as pound or fruit cake, which is traditionally first covered with a layer of marzipan to seal in flavor and moistness of the cake. A light layer of buttercream or apricot glaze may also be used. Cakes covered with rolled fondant can be decorated with Royal or Buttercream Icing. Wilton also has convenient, Ready-to-Use Rolled Fondant for easy-to-handle fondant with no mixing.

How to Color and Flavor:
The pure white color of Wilton Ready-To-Use Rolled Fondant Icing can be easily tinted any color using Wilton Icing Colors. Add icing color, a drop at a time and knead into icing until color is evenly blended.

Wilton Ready-To-Use Rolled Fondant Icing has a mellow flavor which can be enhanced using Wilton Butter Flavor, Clear Vanilla Extract, or Almond Extract. Knead flavor/extract into icing until well blended.

How to Prepare the Cake
Level cake, position on board cut to fit and fill layers as desired.

For a perfectly smooth fondant cake, the cake surface you cover must be perfectly smooth. Any imperfections on the cake surface will mirror itself on the rolled fondant. Ice cake smooth with a thin layer of buttercream icing, covering all holes and imperfections. Use the Buttercream Icing Recipe, Wilton Ready-To-Use Decorators Icing or Creamy White Icing Mix. Let Buttercream Icing set before covering with Rolled Fondant. One-layer cakes with a very even surface can be coated instead with apricot glaze.

To determine the diameter you need to roll fondant for covering the cake: measure opposite sides and top of cake across center; roll out fondant to that size, 1/4 inch thick. For example, an 8 inch, two-layer cake, with two sides each 4 inches, equals 16 inches diameter. For simple, accurate measuring, roll out the fondant on top of the Cake Dividing Wheel included in the Wilton Cake Dividing Set.

How to Store Fondant-Covered Cake
Iced cake can be stored at room temperature for 2-3 days. Excess fondant can be stored 2 months in an airtight container. Do not refrigerate or freeze.

More Helpful Hints for Fondant
In general, the less height on your cake, the easier it will be to cover with rolled fondant. Individual sized desserts, such as petit fours are the easiest of all to cover.
When rolling fondant, it is extremely important to remember to lift and reposition it several times. You must keep fondant from sticking to your rolling surface or it will tear when you try to lift it up. Dusting the surface with confectioners sugar helps prevent sticking.
Rolled Fondant dries quickly. Always keep it covered to prevent hardening when in use.

Recipes:

Rolled Fondant
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup Glucose
2 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening
1 tablespoon Glycerin
8 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar (about 2 lbs.)
Icing color and flavoring, as desired
Combine gelatin and cold water; let stand until thick. Place gelatin mixture in top of double boiler and heat until dissolved. Add glucose, mix well. Stir in shortening and just before completely melted, remove from heat. Add glycerin, flavoring and color. Cool until lukewarm. Next, place 4 cups confectioner’s sugar in a bowl and make a well. Pour the lukewarm gelatin mixture into the well and stir with a wooden spoon, mixing in sugar and adding more, a little at a time, until stickiness disappears. Knead in remaining sugar. Knead until the fondant is smooth, pliable and does not stick to your hands. If fondant is too soft, add more sugar; if too stiff, add water (a drop at a time). Use fondant immediately or store in airtight container in a cool, dry place. Do not refrigerate or freeze. When ready to use, knead again until soft.

This recipe makes approx. 36 oz., enough to cover a 10 x 4 in. High cake.

Sandra asks…

How do you fry a yellow cake?

i saw on the food network of someone frying a yellow cake(i think one of the deen boys) but i cant find it, can anyone help me out?

Michelle answers:

Sometimes in the summer I make fried cakes so I don’t heat up the house. I usually make them small like pancakes, they’re easy to serve and don’t have crumbs. If you do the whole cake make sure to reduce the heat and use a lid to help cook through and through. Mix the cake.Place a little oil or Pam in the skillet. Pour the cake in and shake it to level it and remove air bubbles. Every now and then use a wide spatula and ck the bottom to make sure you are not cooking it too fast and burning it. It also keeps the bottom from sticking so go all around the skillet. Cover and continue on low so the cake will cook in the center and not brown too fast on the bottom. Turn it over(!?) by using a flat plate on top of the skillet and flipping both over. Spray the Pam again and let the cake slide into the skillet from the plate. Cove r and ck until done. You can use reg frosting or I like to use apple or cherry canned pie filling on top with a little whipping cream on top!Yum! Now I’m hungry.
