Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Carol asks…

When to test for pregnancy after a miscarriage ?

I had a natural miscarriage 12 days ago.
I was 5 weeks so there were no complications of anything.
Me and my boyfriend have started trying again yesterday and will continue to do so for another 3 weeks (Just to be sure when I ovulate)

So my question is when should I do a pregnancy test?
(Im showing negative at the moment as Im back to normal with HCG levels)

Michelle answers:

I went through the same thing almost, except i had 1 at 6 weeks and 1 at 7 weeks and had a d&c. I would wait 6 weeks before you test again. Thats what the dr told me. I had a d&c last tuesday and we are already trying again. Alot of people say to wait a couple of months before you try again. But i say stuff them lol. Nah, if you think you are ready, then go for it!!!!!!!!
Good luck

Betty asks…

How long after a miscarriage will a home pregnancy test be accurate?

I was 7 weeks along when I had a miscarriage, everything was natural, no d&c. It has been about 5 weeks since the start of the miscarriage (it lasted about a week) I took 2 home pregnancy tests yesterday and they both came out positive, could this be because my hcg levels are still up from the miscarriage or is it more likely that I am pregnant?

Michelle answers:

I had a miscarriage and it took way over a month for my HCG levels to go down. I had to see the Doc every week for a blood test. When the levels finally went back to normal I had a period three weeks later. Sounds to me like your levels are still up, wait another week and then call your Doc.

Mark asks…

Would pregnancy test come up positive?

I had a natural miscarriage on May 10th. The past week I’ve had a lot of pregnancy symptoms, but pregnancy test is coming up negative. Would it come up positive, it will be 7 weeks post miscarriage Monday; no period yet. I’ve never had regular periods… Please help.

Michelle answers:

When were you expecting your period? I would talk to you doctor because your hormone levels could still be weird from the miscarriage. I had a tubal rupture in October 09 but i was only a week late from my period…

I would definitely go see your doc…good luck

Laura asks…

Does Wondfo pregnancy test strip accurate?

Hey i recently bought a Wondfo pregnancy test strip. Just wondering if its accurate? And the packaging says its for intro vitro use and i m trying to conceive in a natural way.. Is it accurate when the the test is for intro vitro?

Michelle answers:

It doesnt say intro vitro it says in vitro and it just means its meant to be taking it outside of your body (in other words dont shove it up your vajayjay!)
I have heard a lot of people complaining that there were dye bleeds and dbad indents and evaps. If you wait until at least your period is due (therefore your line being pretty dark) they are just as good as any other test. The only problem comes when its super early and you cant tell between a faint BFP and an indent or evap 🙂 GL

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Remedies

Mary asks…

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction cures NEEDED!?

I have pelvic floor dysfunction. I have hernias from lifting too much weight during pregnancy. I also have torn ligaments. This causes intense pain and heaviness. Also I have uterine prolapse because of it. I am healthy. I am a runner. I do kegals and stomach strengthening exercises regularly. I do not eat inflammatory foods. It has been over a year scince these problems started. I have seen many doctors and they have said theres nothing I can do about it. I cannot wear pants because they put too much pressure on my abdomen. I know there have got to be some natural remedies for this. Would a comfrey compress help? Slippery elm? How do I put my abdomen back together? Surgery and proper health care is not an option. Not explaining that because it’s complex but it’s not an option. If you can help, please do!!

Michelle answers:

If you’ve looked and they did not have medical solutions, and ruled out surgery or drug treatment, you will find answers with physiotherapists specialized in pelvic floor dysfunctions.
Many symptoms may be related to pregnancy and load you say you have uploaded in that period.
Abs and pelvic floor have too much in commom. They influence themselves.
What kind of delivery did you do? Depending on the type of delivery, you may also have some symptoms.
I am a physiotherapist in Brazil, but much researching this area.
If you search the web find several clinics specializing in urogynecology.
I hope you success in your search.
Do not give up because of course there to do and if you look in the right place you will find.
Good luck!

PS// I would like to help you.

Joseph asks…

Is Candidiasis(a fungal infection) harmful to a growing fetus? What are the effects?

Any remedy (the natural way, preferably) for this? Some say feminine wash will do it; some say it’s normal during pregnancy. Thanks!

Michelle answers:

See your ob and take whatever meds they suggest, i dont think its ever good for the baby to be exposed to those infections.

Michelle answers:

Candidiasis is a yeast like fungus. You can use monistat or gynelotrimin to get rid of it. If left untreated, it can change to a pathogen and cause localized or generalized mucocutaneous disease.

Lisa asks…

Herbal remedies to help labor?????

This is my frist pregnancy and I’m 35 weeks along. I know its natural for the first one to be late etc etc but I still want to be aware of the natural herbal teas and capsules available out there that supposedly help your body get ready for labor. I know some women swear by these, some are totally against them. And yes I know that the best decision is telling your doctor. With all that said I want to know from any of you which ones you recommend, the dosage and week to start if you have it, and what they do OR which ones you don’t recommend and why. Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Here’s a link with a list of *safe* ways to get labor going when you are full term… For acupuncture, massage, teas, herbs and homeopathic remedies you should go to a licensed practitioner who has experience treating pregnant women

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Products

George asks…

How do you politely as can be, say no to a very pushy family friend ?

I have a long time family friend that is selling Wildtree products. She is a church patron, a family friend, and long ties related to me through a cousin of a cousin kind of thing. Her mom and my dad are friends. So anyway. She is pushing pushing pushing. First it was Natural Toys then Mary Kay. i was able to skirt that for a long time. NOW its WildTree stuff. Which is obviously a Pyramid scam. I hate that crap and normally would chew out anyone that offered it to me. So anyway I want to be nice and stop this in its tracks right now. Whats the NICEST way to tell her its a scheme, a fraud and I DONT want it. Dont ask again.
I am asking for these suggestions because, I was recently told I am too hormonal due to pregnancy, over active cause I drank coffee, and too abrasive. So I need help.
funny thing is I PLAINLY said no 2 times. She questions me as to why. I have a urge to go through a tirade with charts, and graphs and a marching band as to WHY. Though Shes not getting it. I need a new approach.
thanks Holly at least you get my abrasive humor on occasion though a few times I go overboard.
Is it safe to assume Jm E that your a guy? thanks for the vote of confidence and the suggestions. I a seriously thinking of writing it in the snow with dog pee on her front lawn, but I am turning a new leaf and being nice and cheery for the holidays. No more mistaking me for the pregnant, coffee drinking, baby endangering ogre that some people have painted me as today.

Michelle answers:

If someone is being that pushy, I have no problem getting rude with them and sometimes it is the only way. I feel no need to explain myself or my decisions, I am an adult. You of course have the same rights. You don’t have to explain your decisions on purchasing to anyone. Tell her bluntly, no and if she asks why, tell her you don’t have to explain your decisions to her.
And I wouldn’t say your horomones are taking you over! I am NOT pregnant and still don’t feel as if I should have to explain my decisions to anyone.

Helen asks…

Should a baby born as the result of a botched partial birth abortion be allowed to die by denying care? Obama?

A partial birth abortion is when a woman carries a baby to full term and begins labor or has labor induced prior to a natural delivery during her waning pregnancy. The baby is then actually “partially” born. The doctor/nurse ensures a foot, leg or some body part is still within the birth canal and a doctor inserts a large bore needle into the baby’s skull cavity and sucks out the brain. That exceeds the extreme of rationalization to rely on the technicality that a foot is still within the birth canal so it’s still a fetus and not a baby.

Obama supports partial birth abortion.

The U. S. Supreme Court has yet to hear any cases on the denial of care to a baby born due to a botched abortion where the delivery occurred so quickly, no body part remained in the birth canal and the baby was allowed to die via denial of care. One such case occurred in Illinois where the live baby was simply placed in a medical closet until it died. Prosecutors attempted to bring murder charges against those involved however, the courts dismissed the charges ruling that the baby was the product of a medical mistake during an abortion and could not be considered a human being for the purpose of having the human rights of a person or the constitutional rights of a citizen. The court ruled the baby to be an abortion fetus and thus it was not entitled to life.

The Illinois legislature attempted to pass legislation making the denial of care to babies born via a botched abortion process a crime and Obama voted against that legislation four (4) times.

That is a bizarre rationalization to the extreme in my opinion. What kind of human being can do such a thing to a baby? Answer: Barack Obama

Michelle answers:

Of course not. A baby is a human being wether he/she is wanted or unwanted.

Ruth asks…

Can Phobia of Being Pregnant Stem From Anorexia?

I have such a phobia of being pregnant and having children a natural way, could this irrational fear stem from my Anorexia that I was diagnosed with when I was 11…? I have normal periods now, so I’m guessing I have normal fertility, as my body is recovered, but my mind is far from. I still have a completely IRRATIONAL fear of weightgain, and the thought of the changes my body would undergo while pregnant absolutely drives terror into my heart and mind. No matter who I’m with, no matter how “worth it” some women (who have never experienced the hell of an eating disorder) say it is, I just don’t want to do it. And I’m scared I’m going to be so paranoid when I settle down with a life partner, that I’ll take pregnancy tests practically every time I had sex, I’d break down if I ever accidentally got pregnant, the terror I have of being pregnant could actually drive me to do some pretty terrible things…

The prospect of actual childbirth scares me as well; and I am so heartless towards normally conceived children. I talk about ‘foetuses’ and ’embryo’s’, not babies, I gag whenever I think of childbirth, I don’t view babies as little miracles, only a product of 2 mixed fluids, I don’t see the big massive deals made when a foetus for example, kicks in its mother’s womb…I speak almost with contempt about babies, and I realise that this is NOT. NORMAL. I feel so terrible. And like this anger is almost a defense mechanism.

This fear of pregnancy and having children the natural way has a name doesn’t it…? And can it stem from past Eating Disorders and Depression? (Both of which I’ve had). Thank you. xxx
Also, it doesn’t help that my mother thinks I am unutterably selfish for not wanting biological children and expects me to someday. 🙁

Michelle answers:

Well, generally if one has one irrational belief one is likely to have another. And your feeling about children is pretty normal for a childless person, I know I feel similar.

Can Phobia of Being Pregnant Stem From Anorexia? (Other Women Who Have Experienced Anorexia…?)?

Michelle answers:

It’s called tocophobia, an infamous disorder, not many reasearches about it.
It has an established relation to depression and post-traumatic stress disorders, but eating disorders, not sure, although i remember once reading some freudian analysis about bulimia and mentioned there that it has a possible relation to tocophilia. So, why wouldnt anorexia have relation to tocophobia?

Is this phobia extensive? Like do you hate men too? Because in your case it will make sense if you were lesbian.
If you are not, then there is hope it would wear off with the right man.
You should check your hormonal profile too, most of feminine/masculine emotions have direct relationship to sex hormones. Tocophilia is a feminine trait.

I hope this helped and made sense, i’m sleepy

Your Questions About Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Lizzie asks…

Is it possible my good posture and natural tendency to hold my stomach in could be hiding pregnancy?

I’m about to turn 26 years old, I’m about 5’4″ and weigh about 125 lbs. I naturally hold my stomach in and stand up straight, and normally even when relaxed, my stomach will only pooch out a little. Lately though it seems whenever I relax my stomach muscles, my belly pops way out like I’m pregnant! For a while I figured it was doing that after I’d finished eating, but it seems to be doing it more and more. I even joked to my husband that I needed to go on a diet because I look pregnant. I don’t think I am because I just had my period, but I’ve also heard of women who have bleeding during pregnancy at first, and that it is normal, especially if its your first.

I went online and looked at pictures of pregnant bellies, and the ones that look closest to mine (when my stomach muscles are relaxed) were about 12 to 16 weeks. But I wasn’t sure if the women in the pictures were relaxing their stomach, holding them in, or what.

So my question is, is it possible that my good posture has me in denial? Has anyone been pregnant and hid it by holding in their stomach? At what point did it not become “holdable” ? I realize that I can buy a home-pregnancy test, but to be honest I’m a little scared and feel like I don’t really want to know. I’m kinda hoping someone will assure me that there is no way I could hold in my stomach enough to hide it, in which case I won’t worry, especially if I have another period next month.

It just freaks me out and wanted to hear what other people say. Thanks.

Michelle answers:

A test is the only way to know.

My mom did not look pregnant with my sister until she was in her final month. My aunt was in her 8th, with twins! I looked pregnant as soon as the test was positive, so everyone is different.

Linda asks…

Natural Miscarriage Stories?

I don’t want to hear.. GO HAVE A D&C because that is my final option and I am avoiding it at all costs.

I am 10 w pregnant and found out 3 days ago my peanut stopped developing at 6w 1d.

I was spotting light pink for 4 days, then yesterday it was a bit of watery brown, then last night some red and some obvious flecks of tissue.. and today is browny red with flecks of tissue, but it’s not enough to come out a lot only a little.

When can I expect this to really get going?

and what can I expect with a 6w old pregnancy? I know they say anything before 8 weeks is usually like a heavy period.
But I am 10 weeks but the pregnancy and fetus are only 6 so will it be lighter than a 10 week miscarriage?
I have a doc’s appointment on thursday

he said before it’s okay to wait a month before needing a d&c unless I show signs of infection

Michelle answers:

First of all i am so sorry for your loss!

This is a missed miscarrige, where it didn’t or hasn’t happened yet. And several weeks pass between the stop of development of the baby and the dicovery the baby has died.
And in vary rare instances a natural misscarrige may not take place.

(they are sometimes called a missed abortion. A misscarrige is called a spontanious abortion, but usally isn’t called that because of the negativity assosiated with the word abortion)

there are pills that can be inserted into the vaginag to help ripen and dialate the cervix.

You are at 10 weeks but the pregnancy is only at 6 week so i would assume that the misscarrige would be the same as if it happened naturally at 6 weeks.

(i am not sayin go get those pills)

but yes it should be lighter then a ten week miscarrige, but will likely be a very heavy period, (and it will probibly seem heavier then it is because of the emotion)
if you are bleeding one pad an hour or more then get into see your ob!

I had a missed m/c carrige at 15 weeks the baby had stopped developing at 11 weeks. (with in a day or 2 after i heard the heart beat for the first time)

my dr. Gave me three options, one eas to let it happen naturally and i has no signs or symptoms of m/c so it may have been a feww more weeks, or to the pills (inserted into the vagina to help induse the misscarrige) and because the baby was 11 weeks along he wasn’t gung ho for that but i still could have decided to, or the d&c, i chose to go with the d&c because i wouldn’t have been able to do the pills and have the baby pass at home…..i know it would be a safer choice then surgery but i know that emotionally i would not have been able to do it at home, i mad the choice of a suction d&c, for my emotional well being, i don’t regret it. And i know that it may cause risks later, but am not mad at my self for doing so.
A side note somthing just seemed different with the pregnancy then with my first, somthing just seemed off.

That was august and my partner and i were lucky, wek became pregnant again in dec, i got my bfp on the 31st of last year and i am now 26 weeks!

Sandra asks…

How soon do you think I could get pregnant?

I have a 4 year old and that pregnancy went great now we had been trying for the last 9 months for a second child. I miscarried at 4 weeks which was last week. I had a natural miscarriage I didn’t need a D & C. We have been trying since tuesday after I stopped spotting. Does anyone have a clue how soon I can conceive again? I have heard that you are very fertile after a miscarriage and thats why we thought we would start trying so soon. My doctor said it was fine to try its just that they might not be able to pin point a due date which I am not at all worried about. Anyone have any opinions?

Michelle answers:

I am so sorry for your loss. I also miscarried recently and my dr said the same thing. We started trying a couple of days after the bleeding stopped but nothing happened. I had my period 4weeks after my miscarriage and we started trying again. My period is due again on Aug 4th and our fingers are crossed that it will not come!

Good luck to you

Daniel asks…

Natural birth vs C-section?

im 11 weeks pregant with twins
this is my second pregnancy (have a 9 month old son)
i had a natural birth with him
i dont know if i should have a c-section or natural birth
i was thinking C-section but now i really dont know

Michelle answers:

My personal opinion is that a C-Section should only be used if necessary, but because you are having twins you have a higher chance of having a C-section anyway, you do what you think is right its your body and your experience so do what makes you happy

Your Questions About Natural Ivf Cycle

Michael asks…

Hi Everyone – Low progesterone levels??

I am new here and have loads of questions!!! A brief history – My husband and I have been TTC for almost 3 years now – in this time I have conceived twice unfortunately both ending in miscarriages (one on a natural cycle and the second on an IVF cycle). Apparently my progesterone levels were fairly low – has anyone had anything similar? Is there anything they can do to try and prevent this happening again? I thought progesterone injections may be a better option than pessaries? I have relatively bad endo and have recently had a lap & hyst done to remove the endo and cyst from my ovary. They thought this may help but since then I have miscarried. The last 3 years have been very depressing, I wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel!! I have had 3 IUI, 1 cancelled IVF and 1 failed IVF cycle.

Michelle answers:

Have you talked to anyone online at babycenter.com? There are some awsome boards there with women in the same situation to talk to. Id say go for it and get those injections. Ive heard that can help. Id try anything I could. Good luck

Lizzie asks…

Is it appropriate to have my daughters wth me during the birth of my son?

Hi, I’m fairly new here on Yahoo Answers.

I’m a 42 year old mother of two daughters with a son on the way. I remarried 3 years ago and my daughters are from a previous marriage. They are 15 and 12. It took me almost 2 years to get pregnant (I ended up conceiving via IVF after 1.5 years of trying naturally). I’m hoping for a birth that is as natural as possible, with my husband present also.

I haven’t actually suggested anything to the girls yet but they are both very involved in my helping me out during my pregnancy, and were of great support during my IVF cycles.

I’m due in January.

Michelle answers:

I think birth is THE most amazing thing a person can ever see.
I was at my youngest sisters water birth. I was 6 and my other sister was 4..I am now 25.
I am Not scarred up lol or traumatized and it’s natural and it’s life!!! We have pictures too!!
I know what will happen during a birth..it was also a good way for my mum to teach us the birds and the bees and when it came to our teenage years it put us OFF having stupid underage sex.
For those people that have answered about asking your girls…i think because of their ages..yes that would be a good idea!
I am SO grateful my mum let us because 4 years ago she died and I now have NO parent to ask about birth, pregnancy and babies! So when i remember the photos and remember her giving birth..it makes me feel stronger and makes me feel very happy that I was there at my sisters birth!
To see it, is THE most amazing thing ever.
If your girls are not too grossed out by seeing their mum, then go for it.
At 15 and 12 it’s an especially good age cos of puberty and sex and the fact that you can say..well if you got pregnant this is what having a baby IS like!
Discuss calmly what will happen, that it’s their choice, that you could do some preperation together and that if they choose not to then that’s fine.
Go for it! Experience is the best way to learn! If they have already been invlolved with the pregnancy then they may well feel very honoured to be asked!!

Linda asks…

Regarding infertility and chances of conception with low sperm count?

Hi all, I am my wife are trying to conceive since 2 years ..My analysis told that i have a very low sperm count that is only 1 million per ml..We were told to start an ivf cycle this month..but my wife did not have her periods yet..It was past 3 days of her actual period. My question is are there any chances of natural conception with such a poor sperm count also?Pl reply..

Michelle answers:

I had a known donor who had the same count. We went through IUI (intrauterine insemination putting the sperm at its final destination) and only had about a 5% chance. After finding out his count was so low we did one failed IUI with his sperm and switched to frozen donor sperm (that way our chances are average or better). I would say chances of concieving naturally for the two of you are slim to none. Go with the IVF treatment its your best option! GOOD LUCK

Thomas asks…

IUI#6, clomid, donor sperm and baaad attitude…should i move onto IVF?

24 years old, no known fertility issues. HSG came back great. 3 natural cycles (which was a huge waste of money…for anyone using donor sperm) and 3 with lowest does of clomid and HCG shot. im in the 2ww now, currently 8dp my 6th iui. get an average of 2 nice eggies every time. Dr’s wont increase dose of clomid or anything for that matter. maybe those bastards are shootin blanks in me?? whattya think? time to move onto IVF?? i am extremely impatient and hubby aint gettin any younger….might kill the next person that says “relax and itll happen.”

Michelle answers:

I completely agree that hes wasting my time, ive only ever met the guy twice (he is an RE) and ive been tossed between nurses for the last six months. I dont think ive had the same chick crank me open yet!! Grrrr!!! Lol, dont even get me started on how little they act like they care about you…ugh. My hubby is older, and has had a vasectomy for longer than 12 yrs sooo idk if i wanta spend the money to fix his balls. (sorry im so frank, but im pretty much done with all this bullshit). Im on clomid to make more eggies but i do ovulate on my own, im so friggin regular its scray…i think thats part of why im so pissed about the whole thing.why isnt this working?! Is it me or them?! Im healthy, my periods are regular, im responding well to clomid and the HCG trigger ( i guess, cuz they refuse to test to make sure id did actually ovulate). Id be happy to change RE’s but i live in VT and eeeeverything is like an hr or more away, lol, pretty rural farm country up here. Idk, but if this cycle is a bust im deff gonna push the IVF thing or switch RE’s (but at this point ill prolly go with IVF since theyve wasted enough of my time and emotional health, its easier for me to rant and rave than it is to let the sadness take over), they hava shared risk program i can get into. Its baby or bust people!! I honestly do not care if i havta sell my house to make this happen! I am a woman on a mission! Whew. Thanks for the vent and awesome comments!!

the truth is before your eyes and you deny it, you people are sad, I hope Obama does win so you can see what por is, I worked for a living so I can watch you grovel like beggers and fight for a crumb of bread–I havent been turned in yet for the truth,,,, the Obamaidiots must be in shock and awe from what Obama read from the telepromter
the reason you dont see reference to middle class is because middle class is a Socialist term–actually is middle/peasant class when it was originally defined by Karl Marx

there was a greater number of trained professional before the Clinton era but they got wiped out by taxes

I am in total agreement with you, most Pro-Obama people seem to completely overlook these statements by him. Heck there are some who were asked who they were voting for? When they said Obama, they were asked questions like “Do you think that Sarah Palin was a good chose on Obama’s part?” & “do you agree with Obama being Pro-Life or because he thinks our troops should stay in Iraq and finish this war?” They were in 100% agreement with Obama, and his choses. LOL They didn’t even realize that those were all of Mccain’s views and polices.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Remedies

Maria asks…

Is Blistex cream for cold sores safe during pregnancy?

I’m almost 15 weeks pregnant and have a cold sore and was just wondering whether or not Blistex healing cream is okay to use as it is the only thing that works for me. If not, is there any other safe treatments out there that I could use or natural remedies?

Michelle answers:

George asks…

How to cure hayfever in pregnancy without medicines?

Hi, I don’t want to use any medicine during pregnancy as I don’t want to take any chances this time, not even paracetamol.

But, since I’ve entered the second trimester (I’m now 14 weeks) my nose has been constantly stuffy, on top of that I have developed hayfever (something I have never ever suffered from before), eyes are so sore sometimes, and nose is constantly runny and I’m sneezing all the time! It’s so annoying!

Are there any natural remedies I can do/use to help cure this? I’m eating menthol sweets/lockets at the moment as that helps it for a while, but it’s not great.

Thanks…

Michelle answers:

You can use steam. You can use saline spray for your nose. Shower a lot. Use a mask outside and close your windows.

My pharm recommended that I can use something for a cough to reduce irritation when I was preg with allergies but NO OTC medicine other than that was recommended (as your pharm).

I have horrible hayfever and have gone into anaphlactic shock this season over the hay in the air combined with eating stone fruits. I used an albuterol inhaler and benadryl to overcome the effects so I didn’t have to go to the hospital. So for you, avoid any stone fruits as the molecule in them and in hay are shaped the same. You may want to avoid cucumbers melons apples and avocados too. Those are allergy inducers (can be associated w/latex allergy which I have).

If you get into serious trouble just remember what they tell you when you fly on a plane to the mothers: put your own mask on before you put your kids’ on. That advice to you applies here. Take care of your self first because there will be no baby if you don’t put health first.

Sharon asks…

Signs of PMS/Pregnancy, but No Period Yet?

This is bizarre. I really don’t think I’m pregnant, but I’m showing a lot of weird signs right now. I stopped the pill a couple of months ago because it was making me fat, and crazy. But I was supposed to start my period on the 13th, and the week before I was getting some spotting.

If my calculations are right, I had sex 4 days after I was supposed to be ovulating so I don’t think it could have done anything. But since the day I was supposed to start I’ve been getting some cramping, not exactly like period cramps, but almost like an over worked muscle like the morning after going to the gym. I’ve also been kind of constipated, so on the 14th I took my natural remedy for constipation “cap full of olive oil, and lots of water WORKS LIKE A CHARM”, and all my constipation is gone.

But the thing thats weird is, I’m exhausted, been getting really weird dreams, I’m nauseous on and off,I’m gasy , and my boobs are hard as rock. Also, I am SO frisky, I can’t keep my hands off my boyfriend *well more than usual*… My stomach still is crampy but nothing is happening…

Also, I took a pee pregnancy test at the sexual health clinic, and it was negative. What am wondering if any other woman have gotten this? Is this normal for women who aren’t on the pill? I’ve had so many pregnancy scares that I doubt this is pregnancy. But I’m not sure. At what point are pee test 100% accurate? I got one on the 6th? Anyone want to share their experiences that would be great!?

Michelle answers:

I am going through the same thing, I called my doctor and since I am 10 days late for my period and have negative pregnancy tests, he recommended an ultrasound to check for pregnancy or cysts ect… So call your doctor and make an appointment.

Donna asks…

I have PUPPS! It’s killing me!?

I was diagnosed with PUPPS. A rash occurring during pregnancy (normally diagnosed during the last trimester). I am 30 weeks pregnant and it’s killing me. Benydryl knocks me out, and I have a 20 month old daughter to take care of… Any suggestions or sites that will help you with natural remedies to boot it out the door. I’ve bought dandelion root and soaps but need to see if something else will help….

Michelle answers:

You poor thing!! I had PUPPS from 36 weeks to 41 weeks when I was pregnant with my son! It was seriously the most miserable part of my pregnancy so I feel terrible for you that you got it so early! I found that aloe vera really helped me. And I also showered a couple times a day with cold water and used a mild soap with aloe in it. Definitely take tylenol for the swelling and if you can, take the benadryl at night! I would wake up to myself scratching unconciously (which of course flaired it up worse) so avoid scratching as much as you can! But I pretty much treated it like a sunburn, so keep it cold with ice packs or ice! But most of all, keep busy so that you aren’t thinking about how bad it itches and hurts! Mine went away right after my son was born, so I promise you won’t always feel this miserable!

Good luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Products

Mandy asks…

How does my speech sound so far?

my speech is about teen pregnancy

Teen pregnancy is becoming too glamorized and more girls will want to get pregnant for fame and publicity. In this speech you’re going to enter a world of a teen mom and many facts. Imagine you’re a teen mom. And no not a “teen mom” like you see on the TV with a drama starved sixteen year old girl with her catty friends, and loser boyfriend. That’s glitz and glammer, I’m talking about a mom someone you see everyday who birthed you and held you. You can’t be a mother with video cameras following and watching your every move. Being a teen mom seems to be the hardest job of all. Holding down a job, going to school, and ending a perfectly good social life. Taking care of a baby that’s just the easy parts, next on the list: Shower, eat while studying, and then hopefully a night of rest. You just got into the shower. Your baby is crying and screaming, your mother tries to calm it but your baby is hungry and that’s a job only the mother can do. You jump out of the shower and put on clothes. Then you feed your baby. After he/she has eaten you pop in a TV dinner in the toaster oven and crack the books open. After you ate and studied it’s now 12:00am you put your baby in the crib and turn off the lights. You hope tonight you sleep just a bit. You wake up to crying 2:00 am you sooth your baby and roll back over for sleep. More crying wakes you up 4:30 am you comfort your baby and go back to sleep. Next you wake up to a cell phone ringing and someone is asking you if you’re at school. Time: 9:30 am your late, you need to drop off your baby at day care; 10 minutes away then drive 20 minutes to school great. Being a teen mom is harder than it looks then on the TV.
There are however many options, you can marry the father and start a family, put the baby up for adoption, keep the baby and raise it by yourself or with your partner, or abortion. Keep in mind that there are laws for an adolescent marriage which will have to go through court and parent consent which could take months. Also think what is best for you and the baby open adoptions are always a choice and better for the mother and baby. It lets the child know who their parents are. Another choice is a closed adoption which is harder being the parents can’t bound and talk to their child and the child never gets to meet their parents. Both ways the birth parents are allowed to choose the adopting parents.
Have latex allergies? There are many non latex condoms and other products such as: polyurethane, or lambskin (natural). Condoms should not be used with a spermicide. Condoms can come lubricated or unlubricated if you get an unlubricated condom do not use a silicone lubricate due to it can deteriorate the condom since latex and silicone is not compatible if you do choose to use lube use water base only.
Birth control is another option. It comes in four different options: a patch, a shot, a ring, and a pill. The ring gets in inserted using your finger and can be removed at any time. The pill gets used orally, the patch gets stickered onto your skin, and the shot is very self explanatory.

Michelle answers:

The first line It’s not becoming glamorized. It has been glamorized. Being a teen mother is the hardest job, You have no training and you are not physically, or emotionally mature enough for what is to come.Is a little better start

Sandy asks…

Very nervous about labor…?

Hi 🙂 I’m 36 going on 37 weeks now and I’m becoming very nervous about giving birth. There is so many things that I feel like I’m not prepared for! I’m 21 years old and have never really been around babies before and I’ve never changed a baby’s diaper! There has been so many times that I’ve thought I won’t be a good mom to my little girl and I’m scared of doing something wrong.

I’m what is said to be the “paranoid” first-time mom. For example, I let my hair grow out during pregnancy because with my regular hair style it required hairspray and products and I was afraid of inhaling too much of it and hurting her. Everyone has poked fun at me and said “it will come natural.” But what if it doesn’t?

I’m terrified about labor and something going wrong because of my gestational diabetes or because of something else.

Can anyone offer some comforting words of advice? I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
I was supposed to enroll in a class, but it was too late and between college and doctors appts we missed them. At one point I was seeing 3 doctors because of some complications, but luckily it seems that they have cleared themselves up. I’ve watched people changed diapers, but I’m sure it’s different actually doing it myself.

I appreciate the advice. There are some friends of mine who have babies, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind letting me practice.

Michelle answers:

My sister was 19 when she had her first kid. She was NOT meant to be a mother. All her life she told everyone i’m never having kids, blah blah. The day elijah my nephew was born, it just clicked. She didn’t know how to do much of anything like change them, dress them, etc. Because she lived with her dad and my younger siblings were with our mom. Anyhow, i never thought with her the instincts would kick in, seriously, LOL, but they did amazingly. Abnd she’s a good mom (she has 3 now) don’t worry! If you feel less prepared, do you know anyone with small kids to help practice? I did that with my nieces and little bro and sisters…. There’s many good books on taking care of baby in first year 🙂 good luck!!

Susan asks…

Why do so-called “MRA’s” continue to insist contraception is the woman’s responsibility?

And refuse to take full responsibility themselves?
If a man really really really doesn’t want to impregnate a woman he can use several contraceptive devices, products, and techniques to render his chances of impregnating a woman an absolute zero.
Their are natural techniques that have been used historically and are still in use today – by couples who really don’t want to make a baby.

Sperm + Ovum = Baby. Why do many MRA’s refuse to take responsibility for the actions of their swimmers?

The swimmers can be
a. Killed (spermicial foams and jellies)
b. Blocked (condom)
c. Neutralized (having sex only during the woman’s less fertile days of the month)

Implementing the 3 strategies above concurrently will result in pretty close to zero chances for pregnancy.

d. Vasectomy – used alone is 90-100% effective .

e. KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS – 100% effective 100% of the time.
Read it again, Colonel:
“If a man can’t control HER OVUM he can at least control HIS SPERM.”
Is this statement true or false? Answer THIS question without adding any red herrings:”If a man can’t control HER OVUM he can at least control HIS SPERM.”
If he can’t control HER OVUM he can at least control HIS SPERM.
Do you understand the question?
Here is the typical MRA bs on abortion. Classic question and classic best answer:

“Is there a number, 3 million, 5 million 10 maybe, that would start a re-think on abortion or feminist attitude?
How many, how big a number do you think it would take for a re-think to abortion or a change in the attitudes of feminists to choice. Choice at what cost?”

A:September 02, 2007

Best Answer – Chosen by Voters
There is no number high enough because their only concern seems to be #1. It is a very self centered person that will murder a child because it is inconvenient for them. There is no other excuse for it because their choice comes when they have sex not after. And even then they blame men. Once a feminist makes up his or her mind about anything they no longer need to worry about right and wrong so long as #1 is looked after and her rights are certain the rights of men and children don’t matter.”
Hatrick: what is it about your sperm you can’t control?
Many women can’t safely take the pill.
1. smokers
2. women over 40
3. a litany of medical conditions
4. its not been proven to be 100% safe in all women. The evidence isn’t in yet – there could be long-term damage as well as short-term damage.
The hormonal (male) birth control pill isn’t being developed because they can’t find male subjects willing to test it on. Nobody knows what kind of dangers may lurk. But men expect women to take the hormones, despite the inherent dangers and possible long-term effects.

Totally In the Dark about Digestive Problems?!?

If there are any experts out there, PLEASE I PRAY you see this! …

I am having severe digestive problems and I am absolutely in the dark on what its from!
It’s embarassing, gross, and not fun to be a girl who has awful, and sometimes painful gas at any given moment, and I find it very hard to make bowl movements (yes i know, EW, yeah whatever)
I can feel the gas moving around inside me and i get gas bubbles everywhere in my torso and often times they pop and it hurts or they make alot of noise. Also Sometimes i cant run or walk very long until i feel the sudden urge to use the bathroom, yet nothing happens, and if i ever do make bowel movements, they are tiny. One of the most embarrassing and tormenting symptoms is the fact that sometimes my stomach becomes so swollen with gas i literally look like the early stages of pregnancy!

I’ve considered, yet not really tried cutting out lactose, because i’ve noticed i get gas and constipation even after eating something simple as an apple.

I’ve also considered gluten intolerance an option, but from what i’ve heard those symptoms are usually all symptoms of stomach flu inclusing vomiting which i don’t have.

My dad says it’s probably not what i’m eating, but that there’s something wrong internally that’s doing this no matter WHAT i eat.

I then went on to read about good bacteria and considered making my own Kefir, and then read about fermented products, and then there are things like Activia, which i read is inneffective and it’s pasteurized.

For the past 2 days I have been eating Fage Nonfat Greek Yogurt, which is as natural as it gets, just milk and live cultures, every day. I’m not sure whether to eat it twice a day, or less than once a day or not, or if anyone even thinks it will help.

I’ve even considered trying adociphilus tablets, or going to the doctor to see if it’s IBS.

Lately i’ve been using SparkTeens.com to track my nutrition every day, and from what i’ve learned, i dont consume enough carbs, fat, or calories every day, and i’m not sure if this may contribute to anything but i’ve been trying to eat better because i am apparently losing weight.

Any tips? How long should i eat the yogurt before i expect results if it’s working? Something I should try, and is making Kefir hard, expensive, or worth it at all?

Thank you SO much, I really need help.

Michelle answers:

I used to share your same digestive complaints minus the constipation part. I would get gas, bloating, mucus in my stools, hard or soft stools, random nausea for what seemed to be for no apparent reason…
Probiotics aid digestion to a point and are definitely beneficial. I usually just take a capsule. Buy it refrigerated at your health food store. A mixture of different bacteria strains is even better. However, this alone did not help me.

I only found relief when my naturopath ordered a food intolerance/sensitivity panel of 200 foods by the company Alcat. This is NOT a food “Allergy” panel. Your symptoms are not classic allergy symptoms. Though an allergy panel certainly wouldn’t hurt as many with allergies also have food sensitivites/intolerances and vice versa.
A conventional doctor more than likely will not recommend a food sensitivity panel as they are not quite on board that it helps, but I know personally that it does. I’ve met two other women for whom it has helped tremendously. If you do anything for your health, any one thing, this would be it. Totally worth the money, heck use your tax return! Consult a naturopath to get the test or contact Alcat and see if you can find a lab in your area that will mail your blood sample to them for testing. That’s all their is to it, go to a lab and have your blood drawn.
I tested 200 foods and the results came back that I had a mild to severe intolerance to half of them. I had a severe intolerance to green bell pepper and oregano (that explains the ralphing after eating pizza on several occasions), raspberry, okra and kidney beans. And about ten moderate foods and about 40 milds. On my mild list was gluten and casein (protein in dairy) and I am not celiac.

I only ate off the “acceptable” list for 4 1/2 months and well, I didn’t have any digestive issues.
I rarely ever farted, was never bloated, never had gas, never nauseous or had diarrhea, no mucus. It was like being normal. My face even cleared up.
Only thing, you must make all your own food to assure that there are not untested and/or tested and intolerable foods. This requires a lot of discipline, but once you do it and feel better, it’s totally worth it.
Now I eat off the mild list, and though I pay for it sometimes, it makes my life a little easier and my diet a little more varied. But for optimal digestive relief follow it strictly and reintroduce foods systematically later on.

Another thing that helps when eating things you know will cause problems for you is enzymes. I use Digest Spectrum. You can get it at your health food store. This will help when you’re in a pinch or you just want to go out to eat, but it by itself won’t do you much good as your problem sounds pretty severe.
Following the panel lowers your body’s overall inflammation, and theoretically severs the food/antibody bond in your body, maybe even permanently so you may be able to reintroduce again the things you were once intolerant to.
For now, I would stay away from the eight common allergens which are also common food sensitivities and see if you feel better at all. Also stay away from deli meat and preservatives, those bloat me like crazy, I just want to be popped! LOL!
And if a simple apple makes you sick, don’t eat it. Oregano makes me nauseous and cheese makes me bloated.
8 Common Allergens to avoid altogether: dairy, eggs, soy and corn (read labels!), nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, wheat.
I can eat egg white just fine, but egg yolks make me nauseous, same with peanut butter, and I love egg yolks and peanut butter. However it was no surprise that I reacted to these in the blood test.
Get used to preparing food at home and stick to the outer edges of the grocery store. Common dishes I make are sautees, chicken, roasted veggies, pancakes (with whole grain flours other than wheat), protein shakes (with plain pea protein). I sure hope this helps. Sorry it’s so long. Email me if you have any questions. I welcome it! Good luck! I promise you, you will feel better!

Your Questions About Oldest Age For Natural Pregnancy

Laura asks…

Do You Have to Pay To Be A surrogate mother?

I know that you get paid to be a surrogate mother although that isn’t the main reason I’d like to do it someday. I just think it would be so nice to help to help a couple have a child that they can’t have on their own.

I’m only 19 and not considering doing this any time soon but i am just looking for some information on it as I have been thinking about it lately. Do you pay for the medical expenses like the ultrasounds and the delivery? Do you have to put down a fee to become a surrogate or are you the one who just gets paid after you have been accepted as a surrogate. Are the decisions revolving pregnancy up to you or the biological parents? Like an example would be could I choose to have drugs with the childbirth or would I have to go natural if that’s what the biological parents wanted. Do you discuss these things with them or do you never even meet them? How does the process work and is there an an age limit on how old you have to be before they won’t accept you as a surrogate?

Michelle answers:

It looks like they pay you.
But you have to be excepted by the couple wanting the child and you must draw up and agree to a contract. I am assuming things like payment and how you will have the baby (pain management) will all be put into the contract you sign. They will definitely want to meet the woman having their child. There is a screening process.

Jenny asks…

Pregnant and crying like a baby when husband leaves to go to work in the morning?

I just found out I (we) are pregnant. I am on an emotional roller coaster to say the least. When my husband leaves to go to work in the morning, I have started tearing up and crying like a 3 year old. I can’t understand why I am doing this. Is it just hormones raging mixed with some natural instinct or what? I also started breaking out and weeping in the middle of wally-world yesterday, looking at baby items with my grown 20 year old son!!!

This is my 2nd pregnancy in 20 years. (teen mom) I am happily remarried to a great man who will be 43 when baby arrives!

Let me tell you by the way, don’t let them ever tell you that you don’t “have it” anymore. I learned the hard way. Trust me, you can “have it”, until you don’t “want it” anymore. I have been a dance teacher / choreographer for 15 years and was on the pill and at age 39, am pregnant. So, if you think you are too old to conceive- wrong, wrong, wrong.

(What a hormonal rant that was, eh?) Thanks!!!
@Sara- Right? I will admit to being an already emotional person as well. It is awful though and no control over the tears!!! Thanks for understanding!
I heard a song yesterday in the grocery store and started crying in front of everyone! Yes, people were looking at me. I’m not even showing yet- except my painful, painful boobs!!! A mere word even…ah!
39 years old- FYI* (yeah)

Michelle answers:

I went through the same thing! Exactly like you. I would cry for no reason whenever my boyfriend left for work when I was pregnant. I am normally an emotional person, but when I was pregnant I was very, very emotinal. You could look at me the wrong way and I would cry lol.
It’s normal, I just wish I didn’t cry in public places too haha

Chris asks…

Any other first time moms have baby number two on their brain?

Im a first time mom and absolutely LOVE being a mom. I have a fourteen month old daughter. I keep thinking of being pregnant again and having another baby. It’s a regular thought for me and it really got in high gear after I had a false positive on a blue dye pregnancy test a month or so ago. (((((YES! False Positives do happen, not an evap, a REAL false positive within the time limit.))))) Anyway, While I really think I want to have another baby I have a few things holding me back.

1. I rarely ovulate and don’t have regular cycles. Trying isnt easy when you have these issues.
2. We are considering selling our house and building a new one.
3. My daughter is so clingy and I feel almost like it would be selfish of me to have another one and take away that attention that I feel she deserves still being a baby herself. I know many people have babies close in age but the thought of me having to share that attention she gets being an only child makes me sad for her. She isnt old enough to understand the concept of pregnancy and having a new sibling.

Anway, I still cant shake the thought out of my brain though. I guess its natural feeling being in your childbearing years. Ugh.

Michelle answers:

My daughter was 2 and a 1/2 when we (intentionally) got pregnant with my now 9 month old son. And let me tell you, I was wayyyy unprepared for how much work is involved with caring for two kids under 3 at one time. It has been the toughest year of my life. In fact so much so that I encouraged my husband to get a vasectomy, but at the same time it’s been very rewarding. I sometimes worry that I made a mistake, and that I should have gave them another sibling in a few years, until I have a long hard night with two fussy babies (LOL). In retrospect I wouldn’t change a thing. I like that my children are close enough in age to enjoy much of the same things. And it’s much easier now that my son is older. So if you don’t mind a lot of hard work, go for it.

David asks…

So what does everyone else think of this?

Hi all,

Well my daughter is 5 years old. She was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome at age 2. It’s been a rough road here and there for us but we are learning to take one day at a time with her.

Recently back in January she started school. We are hoping to have her at mainstream school full time but took the advice of the special school she attended for kindy to go 3 days mainstream and 2 days special school. This worked great for 2 weeks. By week 3 however, all was not rosy! She really went off the rails and started to play up big time at mainstream to the point where she threatened to run away after the teacher already caught her once. It was so upsetting for us that week. After consulting with the special school again, we have dropped her hours back to just 2 hours mainstream school with one on one aid support every Monday and 4 days at Special School with the end result of hopefully increasing her time gradually at mainstream over the year and easing her into it. This last 2 weeks though, she has been great. We as her parents have also decided to treat her as though she has ADHD/ADD as WS people are prone to it so we decided to change her diet after getting comments back from mainstream that she was a totally different child after having some rice crisps that had a particular “natural” colour on them. We have since seen a dietitian who has also suggested we put her on an “elimination diet” which we will be starting next Monday. In the meantime though we have cut out all artificial preservatives, colours and flavours and already we have seen a huge difference in her.

I guess my question to all would be, with so many children these days being diagnosed with ADHD and ADD and other various behavioural disorders, would you be willing to change your child’s diet in order to avoid medications or would you just put your child on medications and hope for the best, forgetting that putting a child on meds doesn’t mean it will fix them as it could very well be the food we feed them that set them off and the meds and diet end up fighting inside your child’s body! After reading so much information and talking to this dietitian, it is frightening to realize how much “they” add and process our foods that are actually suppose to be “natural“. I know what we would do, and we are doing it. We want our daughter to be able to attend mainstream full time because she is not special school material, it has yet to be confirmed with an IQ test later this year, but we have been told she is only mildly affected with WS. We strongly feel that amending her diet will help with her already short attention span and behaviour but those who know a WS child or person, know that they are beautiful human beings that are so loving and affectionate, that’s what we want to shine through, not the behaviour. So what does everyone else think, diet change or meds?!

No rude comments please and any personal experiences in this area, I would love to hear. Thanx and sorry it’s a long one and I have put it here in Pregnancy and parenting as this is where I am most of the time. Thanx

Michelle answers:

I believe 100% that what we put into our body contributes A LOT to what we feel and think (Not always the case though)

I have been raising my son on organic and all natural foods since he was cooking in the oven.I ate organic and natural food mostly (Although I couldn’t escape the wrath of Ding Dongs and ice cream..and a few other goodies)

He has no behavior issues and no health issues (hopefully it stays that way) My niece on the other hand is fed Mc Donald’s, chips, donuts, soda candy etc. And her first french fry was at the tiny age of 9 months.

She has had many colds and has behavior issues (although not too bad)

Like I said, I believe that food affects us but that is not always the case. Some kids aren’t fed crap and have issues while others are and have no issues

I think that you should give the diet change a chance. What do you have to lose?

You should also try a Omega-3 supplement as well.My son loves these chews:

Good luck and hope all goes well

Your Questions About Natural Ivf Treatment

James asks…

Microgest for Endometriosis Treatment?

I’ve recently been proscribed a continuous birth control treatment for my endo. I’m taking Microgest (generic for Loestrin) on 4 month cycles – giving me a period 3x a year. I have stage 4 endo, but with manageable pain. So far, in terms of pain treatment, this works great. (thank god, because I didn’t want to consider lupron!) I think I want to have children (or a child) someday but given my age (33) and my condition, my dr. says – obviously – sooner is better to decide. He also says I will likely be unable to conceive naturally and will require medical intervention even if I were to try immediately. What I want to know is if anyone has been on this specific treatment – how long you were on it for – and if you were able to conceive naturally.

Please, I don’t want to offend anyone here, but I made my question very specific. Please don’t suggest either IVF, IUI, possible divine intervention, or adoption. I’m asking specifically about natural conception. thanks in advance.

Michelle answers:

I can’t answer your question directly, and I know that’s what you were asking for but I thought I would respond just in case you thought what I had to say was helpful. I’m taking that same birth control continuously-although continuously as so not having a period at all-and I think it’s great. I’m not trying to conceive, but, and this is why I wanted to respond, on message boards I have frequented, there have been several women who have been able to conceive naturally after having a lap for their endo. Endo causes infertility in about 30-40% of women but having a lap where the dr. Removes all of the endo, can and has allowed many women to conceive naturally.

George asks…

Fertitility Treatment Question?

My friend Sarah has been trying to get pregnant fo about 19 months with no luck.

She has been to the doctor who keeps saying that after 24 months he will look in to putting them on fertility treatment. But, she doesn’t want to go through the gruelling medical treatment and would prefer to go for natural therapies. She has looked in to a few (i don’t know the full details) and so far no luck.

She would like to have twins also (a perk of IVF) incase she has trouble falling pregnant again. Has anyone had any good experiences or know of good fertility treatments that don’t need a prescription?

I feel really bad around her lately as I am pregnant with my second so any good news I could give her would be great!

Michelle answers:

Tell her to be patient and stick with her doctor. You dont want her to starting taking the wrong stuff and mess up her health. Really she needs to start looking into adoption in the mean time.

Chris asks…

arthritis and medication?

i am 27 and suffer with artritis, due to me having ivf treatment i cannott take the medication which slows the disease down, i am taking medication which helps the swelling and pain. Has anybody got any suggestions of natural remedies or thing that ease the pain without taking any other medication.

Michelle answers:

I would be wary to suggest anything if you are on the IVF program. I would suggest you talk to your doctor instead of people on here with zero medical degrees.

I hope you find something that helps. I too suffer with arthritis.

Steven asks…

Water retention?

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help?
Ive been getting fluid retention for the past few days due to taking norethisterone tabs as Im down regulaing my period due to ivf treatment. So im wondering if there anything ‘natural‘ and not harmful whils on my treatment. they say dandelion is good but does say dont take whilst on other treatment, so I thought maybe dandelion & burdock? as its a drink so shoulnt be harmful?

Michelle answers:

Just go pee more often, it is not good to store water. Unless you going to the desert.
