Thomas asks…

natural way to concieve?

if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome is there an alternative way to get pregnant without taking hormone tablets and IVF?

Michelle answers:

Homeopathic Medicines & Treatment for Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis

#Apis mellifica. [Apis]
Few remedies cause as many ovarian symptoms as Apis. It has an active congestion of the right ovary going on to ovaritis, with soreness in the inguinal region, burning, stinging and tumefaction. Ovarian cysts in their incipiency have been arrested by this remedy; here one of the indicating features is numbness down the thigh. It has also proved useful in affections of the left ovary. Tightness of the chest may also be present, with the occurrence of a reflex cough and urging to urinate. Mercurius corrosivus. Hughes prefers this remedy in ovarian neuralgia. Peritoneal complications also indicate it. Bovista has also cured ovarian tumors.

#Belladonna. [Bell]
As this remedy is one particularly adapted to glandular growths it is especially useful in acute ovaritis, and more so if the peritoneum be involved. The pains are clutching and throbbing, worse on the right side, the slightest jar is painful, and the patient is extremely sensitive. The symptoms appear suddenly; flushed face and other Belladonna symptoms are present. Platinum. Ovaries sensitive, burning pains in them, bearing down, chronic ovarian irritation with sexual excitement. Much ovarian induration is present. Palladium. Swelling and induration of right ovary. It lacks the mental symptoms of Platinum, such as mental egotism and excitement. Aurum. Ovarian induration. Lilium. Ovarian neuralgias. Burning pains from ovary up into abdomen and down into thighs, shooting pains from left ovary across the pubes, or up to the mammary gland. Staphisagria. Very useful in ovarian irritation in nervous, irritable women. Hypochondriacal moods.

#Lachesis. [Lach]
Pain in left ovary relieved by a discharge from the uterus; can bear nothing heavy on region. Hughes and Guernsey seem to think that Lachesis acts even more prominently on the right ovary; others believe the opposite, the tendency of affections being, however, to move from the left toward the right side. Suppuration and chronic enlargements of ovary may call for Lachesis. Zincum. Boring in the left ovary relieved by the flow, somewhat better from pressure; fidgety feet. Graphites. Swelling and induration of the left ovary; also pains in the right ovarian region with delayed scanty menses. Argentum metallicum. Bruised pain in left ovary and sensation as if ovary were growing large. Naja. Violent crampy pain in left ovary. Dr. Hughes valued it in obscure ovarian pains not inflammatory in nature.

#Arsenicum. [Ars]
Burning tensive pains in the ovaries, especially in the right. Ovaritis relieved by hot applications. Patient thirsty, irritable and restless. Colocynth. Ovarian colic; griping pains, relieved by bending double; stitching pains deep in right ovarian region. It is also a useful remedy, according to Southwick, in ovaritis of left ovary with colicky pains. A dropsical condition may be present. Hamamelis. Ovaritis and ovarian neuralgia. Ludlam praises this remedy in the sub-acute form of gonorrhoeal ovaritis; it allays the pain and averts the menstrual derangement. Ovaritis after a blow. There is agonizing soreness all over the abdomen. An external application of hot extract of Hamamelis acts marvelously in subduing the distress and pain consequent to ovaritis. Iodine. Congestion or dropsy of the right ovary. Dwindling of the mammae; dull, pressing, wedge-like pain, extending from right ovary to uterus like a plug, worse during menstruation. Thuja. Left-sided ovaritis, with suspicion of veneral taint, calls for Thuja. Grumbling pains in the ovaries all the time, with mental irritability, call for Thuja. Podophyllum has a pain in the right ovary, running down the thigh of that side. Numbness may be an attending symptom.

Take the remedy which is similar to your symptoms. No side effects or complications if taken as directed, please do not exceed the given dosage and under any circumstances do not try to mix any remedies and avoid Chocolates, Mints, Coffee, Red Meat, Alcoholic and Carbonated drinks, Spicy Rich Food while taking any Homeopathic remedies, and keep the medicines away from direct sunlight, heat strong smells and perfumes and do not store them in the fridge.
Curing without any side effects or Complications Thats the Beauty of Homeopathic Medicine (Cures Par Excellence)

I hope the provided information is helpful for you.

Take Care and God Bless you.

Maria asks…

should infertile and old people be allowed to marry?

with the advance of ivf, it is possible for them to have miracle children, so I believe yes. I hear this argument against gay marriage all the time. in reality though, God did not intend gay people to have or raise children, and they are called to celebasy. gay sex does not end in babies, so it is un natural.
IVF should only be given to people within christian marriage, as God intended.

Michelle answers:

Anyone should be able to marry if it is a union between one man and one women. Even if there are no children born, it is a shining example to the rest of the world of a nuclear family.

People creating children outside of marriage will be dealt wish harshly by God.

Have a blessed day 🙂

James asks…

my wife and had our first go at icsi ivf didnt think it would work but did she misscarried at 6 weeks do you?

think thats agood sigh although it didnt work that she got pregnant in the first go were due in three months to have another go ? do you think if we try natural we may have a better chance of conceiving? since her body now knows it can get pregnant

Michelle answers:

It wouldn’t hurt to try natural (and it could be fun trying) but I don’t think your chances are necessarily better since her body knows it can get pregnant-but it’s worth a try!

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy

Ken asks…

From your experiences, which is better, a c-section or a natural pregnancy?

My close friend just found out she was pregnant and asked me which one she should get and I don’t really know what to tell her because I can’t give birth because of medical issues, I adopted my child, I’d also myself like to know which is better. If you have had both or known someone who has had their pregnancy both ways please tell me which you’d prefer. Thanks so much!

Michelle answers:

I recently had my first child in Sept…and I was in the same boat during my pregnance…I couldn’t decide whether to go natural or have a c-section….I just couldn’t imagine pushing a child through that tiny hole…lol…I asked everyone and they all told me the same thing…go with the natural childbirth…we’re made to give birth…With C-sections, it takes more time to recover and you also end up with a nasty looking scar most of the time…Hope this helps!

William asks…

Sex after natural pregnancy: what is it like?

i am hoping on a natural birth but know things happen and can have a c-section if truly necessary.

my husband has been saying that it will never be the same…this is our first child and i dont know what he is talking about.

women that have had a child through natural birth what are your opinions on this?

men – if any answer: how was your sex life after your g/f or wife gave birth naturally?

Michelle answers:

I had a natural birth and with sex u return the same way before u have the baby naturally.my hubby thinks i gotten alittle tighter after i had my baby.but u have to wait the 6 weeks after u have the baby to repair yourself.

Chris asks…

Is natural pregnancy an option?

I just found out I am pregnant and would like to go to the doctor. But i don’t want shots, drawing of my blood,or an exam.Do they give you this option at a normal prenatal clinic or is this just the things you are required to do.I am already taking a prenatal vitamin and eat very healthy.

Michelle answers:

As the patient, you have the right to refuse any diagnostics and treatment that you don´t want, for any reason.

However, I would advise against this. Doing these tests is the only way to assure that your baby is growing the way he or she should, as well as making sure that you as well as the baby are, and continue to stay, healthy. If something is wrong, but it is caught early enough, your doctor may be able to correct the problem; but if you don´t have the necessary tests to diagnose it, the doc would never know and you´ll be putting you or your baby´s wellbeing at risk.

My advice is to go ahead with exams and blood tests at a minimum: you can refuse any shots and additional treatments unless the life or health or you and/or the baby are in danger (which, you won´t know unless you have the exams!) But keep in mind that your baby´s health and wellbeing should take priority, which may mean doing exams, bloodwork, etc.

Also, if you are planning on having a ¨natural¨ delivery, you might consider drawing up a birth plan well in advance of your due date to take with you when you go into labor. Outline what kinds of treatments you want and what kinds of treatments that you don´t want (pain meds, meds to induce or augment labor, c-section, episiotomy, etc). Keep in mind, however, that if there is some sort of emergency during labor/delivery, your wishes may not be carried out to the fullest if your life or that of your baby is endangered.

Have a happy and healthy pregnancy and enjoy motherhood!

Carol asks…

If there was a natural way to avoid pregnancy would you use it?

I teach natural family planning, the billings method, I am surprized that more people dont use this method of birth regulation. Its 98–99.5% effective, with no side effects, because its natural. You can learn more about this at www.familyplanning.net and I have a yahoo group, http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NFP_BillingsMethod/

Let me know what you think…

Michelle answers:

1.When did you find out you were pregnant? And what’s your due Date?- Found out when I was 4 weeks pregnant (1-2 by the clearblue digi test) and my due date was 20th Feb 2010 (ended up being 4 days overdue)
2.When did you tell people?- I told people straight away because I was so excited!
3.Describe your feelings when you first saw the positive HPT.- My first HPT was an internet cheapie which I thought was a negative, I threw it in the bin after 3 minutes. A few hours later I looked at the packed instructions and it was a 5 minute test, so even though you shouldn’t I got it out of the bin and there was a very light positive. I then took 6 more one after the other and timed the 5 minutes exactly and they all had a faint positive. Was a bit excited but didn’t believe it until I took a digi test the next morning! It was the longest time ever waiting for the test to develop! I was so happy to see the words pregnant that I wanted to ring everyone I knew right away, even though it was 6am hehe!
4.What first trimester pregnancy symptoms did you have if any?- I didn’t have any symptoms really, just one whole day of sickness and that was it!
5.What first change in your body did you notice during pregnancy? Which trimester did this change happen?- Sore boobs at around 6 weeks pregnant.
6.Is this your first pregnancy?- Yes
7.How many children do you have now and how many do you intend on having down the road?- It was my first baby, I will have at least one more, I wouldn’t mind having 3 altogether but probably no more than that.
8.How old are you (Or if you don’t feel comfortable sharing, just pick an age group ie: 20-25, 25-30 etc.)- I was 20 when I got pregnant, I turned 21 when I was 20 weeks pregnant.
9.What comments have people made about your pregnancy that have really upset or annoyed you?- One of my friends was turning 21 and she created an even on Facebook for her birthday and invited all our friends except me. I asked why I was not invited and she said that she said ” I didn;t bother inviting you because your pregnant so you wouldn’t be able to come anyway” umm, just because Im pregnant does not mean I cant have a social life. It really upset me and certain friends continued to arrange evenings out in front of me and not even bother to invite me! It was very frustrating, but I learnt who my real friends are during my pregnancy and now that my baby is born!
10.What comments have people made about your pregnancy which made you really happy?-My good friends telling me how I will make an amazing mum when I was in a panic! I also had a friend that was so truly happy for me and even though there weren’t any specific comments but she always made me feel so good about being pregnant and becoming a mum!
11.Do you intend on having a natural birth or using pain relief? (Of course this may change come time to delivery, but just for now… where do you stand?)- I did plan on having a natural birth and it is exactly what I got! My birth when exactly to plan and I loved it!
12.Do you plan on being a stay at home mom postpartum, or do you plan to return to work shortly after?- My get paid maternity leave for 39 weeks. I will be going back as soon as it ends in November, however I have been into works a few times to help out. I really miss working because I love my job! Although being a mum is a much better job! Hehe!
13.When did you belly pop and you became obviously pregnant?… if not there yet, just put N/A.- I didn’t really “pop” until 27/28 weeks! I kept waiting and waiting for the bump, I was so worried people though I was just fat! I knew I had finally popped when people started asking about the baby etc.
14.If you have started shopping for your baby, what was the first thing you bought?- The first thing I bought was a moses basket, I got it not long after I found out I was pregnant. The only reason I got it so early is because it was an absolute bargain! Im also not superstitions!
15.Did or are you finding out the sex of your baby?- I wanted to find out and my husband didn’t! But I got my way, as I am so impatient that I had to know! We were having a girl!
16.When you first found out you were pregnant, did you hope for 1 sex over the other?- I did want a girl, although I would have been happy either way I was swaying towards a girl!
17.Do you plan on breastfeeding or formula feeding the baby when born?- I was adamant I was going to BF and I refused to buy any bottles or formula when getting all of the babies things ready. However, I didn’t anticipate how difficult it was going to be and when Karyad was born I had a lot of difficulty. Long story short, after two days in hospital trying to get it right I gave her a bottle of formula, it broke my heart. When I went home I expressed on demand for 2 weeks, not long after 2 weeks my supply started to slow down and eventually dissapeared. Whenever I get upset about her having formula I always remind myself that she had breastmilk for two week

Richard asks…

Could this be a sign of pregnancy?

I am a 25 yr old mother of 3. My youngest will be 1 on Dec 1st. My husband and I are Catholic so we practice natural family planning(we pretty much just let things happen as they are supposed to). We had intercourse about every other day during what was supposed to be my fertile time. I have experienced some normal pregnancy symptoms. I have had constipation, fatigue, breast fullness and tenderness, stuffy nose, mild headaches. I had all those with my other pregnancies. This month, I have been monitoring my temp and cervical mucus like I did with my last pregnancy. My period is due today and I have noticed a difference in my cervical discharge the last couple days. It is watery and clear with not really any smell to it. I never noticed this before. I have also had some cramping and a pulling sensation in my muscles and ligaments in my lower abdomen. My lower abdomen also feels firm right where my uterus is. Could this possibly be pregnancy symptoms or just something that can occur from having numerous children. I should also add that I quit breastfeeding my youngest 5 months ago and have still been producing milk. In the last couple days, I have notice it is not coming out as much when I put pressure on my breasts and what does come out is thicker and cloudy. It’s not white like it used to be.
Don’t know if this will make a difference, but my last period started on Oct 26th, which was a couple days late. It was a lighter flow than normal without any pain, and only lasted about 2 1/2 days. Normally my periods are 4 -5 days, heavy flow with major cramping the first couple days.

Michelle answers:

If i was you i would take a test just to ease your mind you could be but it could also be a period thats a little later than planned with you stopping the breast feeding it couldve thrown off your bodies cycle!!! Good luck!!

Lisa asks…

How old would cave women have been when getting pregnant?

I am guessing around 13/14, unless they started their period later than we do. If this is the case why do we judge teen pregnancies as they are only doing what is natural.

(I am not a teenager, just curious about how unnatural we are now!)

Michelle answers:

I would guess as soon as they stared there period but more than likely they were prob sexually active before that. (considering cave men would just bash them on the head & take what they wanted when they wanted it). Also they were neanderthals and acted more like animals until our brains developed more. Now we know better & know its not good for underdeveloped, Mentally & physically, children to be having sex. I think its due to the human race progressing & understanding more.

Your Questions About Natural Ivf

Sandy asks…

Natural ways to induce ovulation?

I am on my 3rd month of clomid right now. I got off of bc one year ago after being on it for 8 years. I have only had 3 periods on my own since last year. I have been ovulating with no problem on the clomid but I can’t seem to get pregnant.

After this round my obgyn is sending me to a fertility specialist. We can afford to do a few IUI’s, semen analysis and hsg, etc., but IVF would be hard right now. I am not even sure if I want to go to the RE yet.

I have heard that sometimes after stopping clomid you can spontaeously ovulate on your own. Are there any natural supplements to help ovulation? Also, have you ever used them and did they work for you?

Michelle answers:

I am so sorry. I know your pain.

Chaste Tree Berry (Vitex) is known to help ovulation. I have never taken it but have heard lots of good things about it. Here are some other herbs that help with fertility. Http://www.fertilityhelper.net/female_fertility_herbs.html

Have you considered seeing an acupuncturist? I was really skeptical at first but really notice a difference in my cycles after seeing one. Also, they really study herbs and can make a “formula” that is right for you.

Take some time. Only you know best the right decision for you. If that means waiting I would do it. Much luck!

Charles asks…

Did anyone take AS level Philosophy and Ethics? Need help with the Medical Ethics Section with IVF?

I am doing the AS level course for Philosophy and Ethics. Unit 2 of the course is medical ethics were we do all own research around one particular topic, my chosen one being IVF. We have to cover and connect this topic to areas such as Sancity of Life, Quality of Life, Natural Law, Autonomy etc….

Does anyone know what I’m on about or do the same course? Please help if can!
Thank you x

Michelle answers:

IVF – InVitro Fertilization. IVF. Most states allow IVF. Most states however are not comfortable with Surrogate Mother are Surrogacy. IVF ethics only come into play if the child is not between the two donors, say the clinic mixed wrong sperm with egg or wrong egg with sperm. If the child is not 50 / 50 DNA of both parents and may be noticeable it can become a huge problem. Now a child is born and a family has to take care of it cause one of the parents is biological and not the other. Two another problem with IVF is the harvesting of the eggs and what to do with them when done. When they go to the female they harvest eggs not egg. So the mother can easily have them planted back in her (however easy that may be) if she should need or want another pregnancy. Also what does she do with the excess eggs. Many cases have came about that a mother has become the biological mother unwillingly to other children due to Surrogacy and IVF. Google Surrogate clinics where some women are paid to carry a child between you and your spouse and some will give you a child with your DNA if you are single man. Its complicated but check into it.

Joseph asks…

My wife is infertile and I want a natural baby?

I love my wife and she loves me very much. We’ve been trying to conceive for over 5 years. We’ve tried everything, including IVF.

I am temped to push my wife to let me conceive with a surrogate and the surrogate’s egg from a company in India. That way we can have a child and it can be a natural part of me. I’m very sure that my wife will not like this at all.

So what can I do? I don’t want to leave her, but I feel a VERY strong need to have (natural) kids. Any ideas?

Michelle answers:

I would NOT suggest finding surrogates in India. There are surrogates in Canada and the US. The problem with Indian surrogate mothers is that since it’s done much cheaper and much more out there, there is a lot of disorganization in the surrogate industry, and then the only guarantee you’re actually getting your child is a DNA test, which might actually prove you have the wrong baby

i’ve read about couples who went to India to collect their children, got stopped at the border for a DNA test and found they had OTHER customer’s children with them – they weren’t allowed to take those kids home, so those kids AND their own children were put into 3rd world orphanages.

So, yeah, talk to your wife, figure out what’s best for the children. And understand her point of view. One of the reasons she may not like this idea is because it’s only a natural baby to you, not to her, and if you have such a strong desire for a “natural” baby, this isn’t really fair to her, that she has to adopt but you have a biological child.

So, think about the reasons you feel the need to have a “natural” child. Sure, humans are hard-wired, like all animals, to want their genes to continue, but you have to ask yourself, is that not a tad superficial? Don’t entirely rule out adoption, since with this idea, she’d still be adopting your kid.

Mark asks…

What do you think of these triplet names?

One of my mums friends has recently had triplets! 🙂

She was having IVF – they were not natural, and tbh they are very lucky to be alive!

She had 3 little boys, and named them :

~ Damon Elias.
~ Miles Lawson.
~ Jared Bryce.

I think the names she has chosen are quite nice.. the first names definatly. However the middle names are a bit strange. I like Elias though.

BQ : What would you name Tripletn boys?
correction : triplet*

Michelle answers:

Love Miles and Jared! Such cute names and though, I am not a big fan of Damon, it goes extremely well with Miles and Jared. Love the name Elias because it is on my namelist and Bryce is ok. Lawson was actually my teacher’s last name is 5th grade, so I guess I’m use to it.

Congrats to your mom’s friend and the names are adorable.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Induction

Sharon asks…

Just like to hear birth stories, how long were you in labor, did you have natural birth?

I think i was a lucky one. My pregnancy was HORRIBLE but delivery was awesome. Went in to get induced at 6 cms (36 weeks) and within 3 hrs after induction (an hr and a half of pushing) my 8lb14oz son was born! (did have a 4th degree laceration though 🙁 ) Trying for the second now, think it will be as easy? THANKS GIRLS!

Michelle answers:

For me, I have two girls. Both pregnancies were good. No morning sickness or anything at all. With my first daughter, I didn’t know what to expect. I was having contractions the whole night but didn’t know it at the time. I thought I had to go to the bathroom, but there was no pain. The next morning at 9:30 my water broke and I got to the hospital and by 12:30 my daughter was born, 6lbs. 11oz. It all went so fast, it felt like it all happened in 10 minutes. I didn’t even have time for an epidural but they did give me IVs. I can still remember the pain from the contractions. I was screaming at my husband that I never wanted to do that again!! Almost 4 years later, we’re pregnant with our 2nd girl. This one came out even faster than the 1st. I was 6cm dilated when I got to the hospital and the nurse put me in an exam room. She checked me and then left me there to wait for my doctor who just happened to be in the hospital that day doing scheduled c-sections. He finally came in and checked me and then started screaming out the door for the nurse to get me into a delivery room right away cuz I was 7 cms. He told me he was on his way to another surgery and that I’d probably have another doctor delivering my baby. So the nurse walked me to a delivery room and got me settled into the bed and then she left to go get all my paperwork cuz I was not even a patient yet. In only a few minutes I’m screaming at my husband that I felt the baby’s head coming out. He thought I was joking…so he looked and I’m so lucky he didn’t pass out cuz there’s the baby’s head. He starts to run out the door to chase down the nurse when he bumps right into my doctor walking past on his way to surgery. He screams down the hall for the nurse and comes in just in time to catch my baby. It was so funny cuz the nurse is cleaning up my baby and my doc is getting me cleaned up and then people start coming in. The nurse for the IV came in and called me Speedy Gonzales. Then the epidural guy came in too. There was no pain at all and it was actually kinda fun for me…It all happen in about 3 hours. The bad thing was that everyone missed the birth… My in-laws were there but in the cafeteria with my other daughter and my mom was on the way but 15 minutes late. I wished I had gotten everyone’s expression on film. Everyone’s jaws were almost hitting the floor when they walked into my room…I think I’ll do it just one more time next year…can’t wait.

Sandy asks…

Is it normal for amniotic fluid to decrease or be low by the end of a full term pregnancy? Or a problem?

The fluid right now is at a 6.5 and the Doctor is wanting to induce. I would like a natural childbirth so I want to make sure it would be ABSOLUTELY necessary before doing an induction. Any information would be much appreciated.

Michelle answers:

I don’t know specific amounts of amniotic fluid, but about inducing: DON’T if you can help it. It is way more painful than natural, the pitocin causes contractions back to back and the pain is horrible, trust me I have been through it recently (oct ’05).

Helen asks…

I would like to hear from people who have tried castor oil for labor induction.?

Hello! I have been reading the book Ina May’s guide to childbirth. One of the natural induction remedies that she mentions as being safe (for full-term pregnancies) is castor oil. I have been researching and the main problem that I have come across is people warning against this due to an increase in meconium in the amniotic fluid, although the research that has been done indicates there is no evidence of increased meconium compared to “normal” labors (which is 6-25%). I would like to hear from people who have actually tried castor oil and comment on whether or not your baby had meconium when he/she was born.

Thanks!!!

Michelle answers:

She’s a quack, then. Why risk it? Not worth RISKING MY CHILD in my opinion.

Paul asks…

Friday Pregnancy Fun…?

Just a little Friday fun for all you expecting mommies!!

1) How far along are you/when are you due?
2) Do you have any other children (if so, what gender and how hold)?
3) What are you having?
4) Does baby have a name yet?
5) Is baby’s room ready, if so, for how long?
6) If you’re over 30 weeks, are your bags packed?
7) What form of pain management are you planning to use (if any)?
8) For those you are CLOSE, are you planning natural, induction, or c-section?
9) Are you nervous as your due date approaches (if so, what are you most nervous about)?
10) Have you gained any weight?
11) What are you estimating baby to weigh (just for fun)?
12) How are you feeling overall?
13) What’s the most fun/horrible part of being pregnant?
14) SAHM or Working mom? (after baby?)
15) Bottle, breast-feed, or undecided?

Happy Friday Moms!!!

Oh, my answers:

1) 37+4 weeks…actual due date August 23

7) Anything they’ll give me…highly allergic to pain…lol
8) Repeat c-section scheduled for the 19th
9) Yes. I’m more nervous about bringing her home to big sister, and having two under the age of 2.
10) I’ve lost 20 lbs this far
11) I’m guessing 8-8.5 lbs. 1st was 7.14lbs. EFW scan @ 36wks said 7.3 on this one) We’ll see!
12) Anxious/Tired
13) Fun: feeling the baby move, and sharing with hubby. Horrible: The increased pressure over the last few weeks, and trying to sleep has become WORK!
14) Working mom, coming back to work after maternity leave (6-8wks)
15) Breast-feeding (but not opposed to a bottle if it doesn’t work out. Had a difficult time with 1st daughter, leaving all options opened)

Your Questions About Oldest Woman Natural Pregnancy

William asks…

Should I get my boobs done?

Alrit so im 21 years old and before my daughter i had a 32 B cup size… i am a very petite girl keep in mind… post pregnancy I am a 34 A barely and i feel although my womanhood has been taken from me. Nothing fits right and i just feel so uncurvy it sucks. Im starting college in september and put a lot of consideration into getting an augmentation to a full B cup.. (34 B) my question is, cud anyone who has them or has known sumone who has them tell me if they are a pain? or feel alright? can they make it look natural? I am a skinny girl… i just wanna feel like a woman again! Is it worth going through the procedure and spending the money?

Michelle answers:

I dunno personally but I’ve thought about getting a boob job many times just because my boobs aren’t good looking at all. I personally support you all the way with getting one if you think it’s the right decision for you. Babies can wreak havoc on breasts.

All the advice I have though is, make sure you get a GOOD DOCTOR. Before you decide to go with a certain Dr. Try and see if you can find any of his/her previous patients to get some information about what he/she did for them and if they’re satisfied with it and would recommend him/her to you. If spending a little extra money to get a good doctor is what it takes I would go for it.

If it will make you feel happy with yourself again I say go for it!

Betty asks…

No PMS symptoms after a decade of regular menses cycle?

I’ve been having my menses pretty regularly since the age of 12. I am 22 years old… Every month around 5-6 days after I ovulate, I start getting my PMS symptoms which are much like early pregnancy signs, lethargic, sore breast, bloating and a big appetite. This month, nothing besides nasty mood swings. My boyfriend and I had sex 2 days before I ovulated and we found out the condom broke when we woke up in the morning and saw it in the garbage! I just wanted to know if not having PMS symptoms can be considered a pregnancy sign. I know that everyone’s body is different but I’m hoping someone can help me demystify my lacking of PMS symptoms. I would also appreciate responses from women who are in tuned with their bodies or just have a lot of experience and womanly wisdom… No teenage girls please.

Also, around 7 days past ovulation I randomly felt this quick sharp pain in my cervix-uterus area and it was continued with a dull cramping feeling the rest of the night. I also get these tugging/fluttery sensations in my uterus. And the only time I really feel activity in my uterus which I consider natural is when the egg passes through the fallopian tubes and then the couple of minutes before my period actually starts flowing. I know my body very well for a young woman my age, and one thing I could always count on were my PMS symptoms and period starting when they are expected. This is the first time that I have very little PMS symptoms. And I am normally a moody person so I am a little freaked out.
** On top of being a bit moody, I am also a sleepy head so I wouldn’t rely on these as early pregnancy symptoms. That’s why no change in appetite, no sore boobs, and barely any bloating is very strange for me.
I also have a dull lower back pain but it only comes around if I am lifting things during cleaning or sit in the same position for too long.

Michelle answers:

Lawdy, take a home test, then if you need to, go see your Dr. You can’t be waiting around for answers here and there. Get off Yahoo and ask the professionals. I think there is a medical question forum online also, if your strapped for cash, that may be the best place to start, or actually, a pharmisist also, they give out free advise quite often and are well versed in the medical field.

Paul asks…

I rarely get periods and now think I could be pregnant, but how do I make sure?

Hi,

I’m 27 years old and like normal girls, I started my periods when I was 13. They were pretty light, but thought nothing of it. As I got older, some years, I was lucky if I got a full 12 months worth and would be so happy when I got one, as it reassured me that I’m a fully functioning woman! I went on the pill and that regularized them, but I came off it last December after meeting my partner who urged me to be natural and I agreed with him that I wanted to begin to prepare my body for having children. Since then, I have only had 2 periods (Feb and March). Understanding that periods revert back to how they were before going on the pill, I have recently been to the Dr who carried out blood tests to see if I was suffering from PCOS. The results came back normal and so I don’t really know what has always caused me to have such a shortage of periods…

In addition to this, I now worry that I could possibly be pregnant. My partner and I, although we’re not trying, are not particularly careful (as I am convinced that I am less fertile than other women). Last week however, I experienced pink streaky spotting after sex. This was the only occasion and led me to link it with intercourse we had about a week and a half before. This week, I have also been getting painful bloating (as though I would be about to start my period), getting headaches, having an odd appetite (noticeable lack of) and finding it really hard to get out of bed in the morning. I also have quite a lot of white discharge, which can sometimes be quite watery (which I initially thought was thrush). There is no odour. My skin is also looking really bad (more spots than normal). The main thing, is that I can’t use my periods as an indicator, and the two pregnancy tests I’ve done this week have shown up as negative. I plan to test again next week and keep an eye on the discharge.

I know it sounds like a mixed bag, but I really don’t understand what’s happening inside my body at the moment. I’d really love to hear from anyone who has or is going through a similar thing…

Thank you,

Michelle answers:

Get a blood test done at the doctor’s

Sharon asks…

Baby surname question?

My friend and his girlfriend had a child and they weren’t married. My friend was very much in love with this woman and wanted to marry her as soon as they found out she was pregnant. The woman kept changing her mind about it but finally said no because it was too soon. She said they could stay girlfriend and boyfriend. I knew that this hurt my friend pretty badly but there wasn’t much he could do. For a whole bunch of reasons their relationship started to fall apart during the pregnancy, with a lot of anger and harsh words exchanged between the two of them. I’m sure they were both to blame. Long story short, their baby was born and my friend is now the dutiful dad. He’s not with the mother (things never got better and I think he loathes her at this point) but he is there for his child emotionally, physically and economically. He does everything for that kid. He is still single.

Here’s the problem and question. The mother is divorced, has no kids from the old marriage, but she still uses her married name. When the baby was born, she decided to give the child her married surname. She didn’t want the baby to have my friend’s surname even though my friend wanted it and even though he believes that the child should have the natural father’s name. (There’s no doubt he’s the father.) My friend is extremely angry at her right now, but it was also her legal right to give the baby whatever name she wanted because they were not married. According to her, this is all about my friend’s wounded ego and his control issues.

A year and a half went by and now she tells my friend that maybe—maybe—she’ll agree to a hyphenated name for the child so he’ll quit harassing her. So the child’s name would be a hyphenation of my friend’s surname (natural father) with her current surname (name from her previous marriage). But she adamantly refuses to give the baby the father’s surname only. She also doesn’t want to revert to her maiden name (don’t know why) and give the child the maiden name. He’s tired of arguing with her and he wants to avoid lawyers and court, but he also wants to do what is right for the child. She sounds like a nutcase to me, but I told my friend that this still might be a fair compromise. Has anyone else heard of a case like this? I hope I’m giving him the right advice.

Michelle answers:

When the child gets older he or she might want to change his or her name because the mother’s name from a previous marriage really has nothing to do with the child’s identity. The mother will not be able to stop the child changing the surname at 18 years. His father might get some comfort out of this.

I would want to change if I had the name of my mother’s ex-husband. What has this to do with the baby’s identity? The maiden name would be better.

For now, the mother has to agree to a hyphenated name change so it might be best to seek a compromise if she is so set against the idea of the father’s name alone. Then the child might even e more inclined to changing it later as it wouldn’t be changing to a completely different name … Just dropping a bit of it.

Hope this helps.

Your Questions About Natural Ivf

Mandy asks…

Do you consider IVF babies “real” babies and is it haram?

If you don’t know what IVF is, it’s in in-vitro fertilization. It usually happens when a couple can’t have a baby natural, they do this process. All they do is combine an egg and sperm outside the body and if it’s successful, they put it inside the woman’s body. Do you think that they’re considered “real” babies and is it haram to do this, if you need it?

I think that they’re considered real babies. It’s a human egg combined with a human sperm. That’s what happens without IVF too.

*I’m not pregnant or trying to either, just clarifying that!

Michelle answers:

Yes, they are indeed real babies.

If a couple are experiencing difficulty in conceiving a child the natural way, it will be permissible to adopt the procedure of In Vitro Fertilisation with the condition that the sperm belongs solely to the husband and the egg belongs to the wife. It will not be permissible to use a third person’s sperm under any circumstance.

Richard asks…

When our Natural world keeps fast disappearing will we lose that sense of mysticism and connection with nature?

Forests and trees are been logged by greedy people who understand the meaning of only what money means and nothing else.

I read of an elephant in a zoo in australia gave birth to a baby elephant by means of IVF and how all the aussies are lining up at the zoo to see the little fellow.

But will future generations ever get a chance to see a herd of wild elephants in the jungles of africa, Burma or sri lanka?
Will they ever get a chance to see flocks of the paradise birs in papuan jungles ?

I had the luck of seen it all in the real natural world. But its fast dying out. With the death of the natural world dies that touch of deep mysticism which links us to nature.

Dont you think its so sad that future generations will be living and touching only concrete and not nature?

How depressing would that be?

Michelle answers:

I couldn’t agree with you more. I live in the country of a north eastern state in US. We have beautiful mountains, rivers and creeks. Much wildlife runs through my own back yard. Squirrels, rabbits, and deer, and even an occasional black bear travels through our area. When he’s spotted, a notice of warning that he’s back is posted. I’m even visited by wild turkeys, pheasants, geese, owls, and many other species of birds. However, I’m in a small development which had originally been quite a dense forest area and I’d travel out this way and walk along the small creek when I was much younger. You would find many Indian arrowheads along the way. A rope tied to a large tree branch allowed you to swing into the water to cool off on a hot summer’s day, to the chagrin of fishermen near by. So much had been cleared to make way for our homes. And even more for the two camp ground areas we have nearby. A large part of the Blue Mountain has been made into a ski area. And, if not for many pictures I have of my area from when I was younger, it would be unrecognizable today. There is still much wooded area around me, but, by the time my grand daughter grows up, what is left of this beautiful forested area will have to be seen in pictures I take today. We can still feel grass between our toes and watch butterflies and bees in our garden. But, it is changing fast. So my dear, it is not just Burma, Sri Lanka and Papuan jungles that are being changed, but, right in everyone’s back yards all over the world. But even my grand daughter asks, “Where are we all to live and what should we build our houses from? Where will all the people go?” What is it I should answer to that? I wish I had one for her. I can’t imagine her children never experiencing what you refer to as, the deep mysticism of nature either, because, depressing isn’t even the word..

George asks…

How to raise my sperm count the natural way?

I recently went to take a sperm test because me and my wife have been trying for like 3 years and going. My doctor told me the lowest number is 20, I had 0.8 Ouch!!!!!!! she then goes and tell me that we might have to consider IVF, But I went home and found out that there are a lot of natural ways to better my chances. I am quiting smoking and drinking. I have since then Joined a gym and have lost 22 pounds and continue to lose weight from 400 to 377. I’m looking into purchasing this natural Fertile vitamin called Fertileaid. I was wandering if their is anymore helpful tips I can use. Please let me know.

Michelle answers:

Sounds like you’re off to a great start! I’m sure you know the basic recommendation like to wear boxers, stay out of hot tubs, reducing stress, staying active to keep up a good blood flow, and to drink lots of water. Also, acupuncture is said to help! Check it out! I have heard some great things about Fertileaid but have not looked into it. I’ve researched the same thing and found lots of good information.

•A good multi-vitamin and multi-mineral
•Vitamin C: 2,000 mg/day (in divided doses)
•Vitamin E: 800 IU/day
•Beta-carotene: 100,000 IU/day
•Selenium: 200 mcg/day

Other important nutritional supplements include:
•Zinc: 60 mg/day, which is necessary for sperm production and testosterone metabolism
•Vitamin B12: 1,000 mg/day, involved in the replication of
cells
•L-arginine: 4 g/day, an amino acid involved in cellular replication
•L-carnitine: 600 mg three times per day, this amino acid, found in very high levels in sperm, transports fatty acids into the mitochondria and assists sperm motility

Natural Looking Makeup Coverage for Mid-40’s?

I have some sun damage from years of outdoor athletics (use SPF 50+), a bit of melasma from IVF hormones, and generally oily skin. I have stopped wearing makeup for about a year; my skin doesn’t break out as much, but I want to find a good foundation to create a more even skin tone and still look natural. Anytime I’ve gone to a cosmetic counter in any department store for a makeup counsel, they pack on way too much product and I leave looking older and over done. Can someone offer any suggestions for reasonably priced products that I might try?

Michelle answers:

You sound perfect for Bare Minerals….if it’s out of price range, ask for it for the holidays!

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Robert asks…

True of false: A woman can continue getting a regular period while on birth control if she is pregnant.?

Now I am not concerned that I am pregnant, because I always get my period right on time. But a friend of mine said that if you are pregnant, and taking the pill, you may continue getting your period, and think you are not pregnant when you really are.

Getting my period every month, for me, is like a natural pregnancy test every month. It’s kind of comforting to know that I am definitely not pregnant. I would just like to be sure that I can count on that.

Michelle answers:

I’M ON THE SAME BOAT AS YOU RIGHT NOW, AND SO FREAKED OUT, LOL.

I asked my friend about this not to long ago and tried to google search it but couldn’t find any answers. If you really want to know, I guess you could stop taking your pills for a month, and see if you get your cycle regularly without the pills. Or take a pregnancy test, or have a blod test at the doctor. You can even call your doctor and ask this questions you’re posting here on Yahoo! Answers.

Good luck! And let me know the answer if you find it. 🙂

Sandy asks…

Should I take a pregnancy test or wait?

I was pregnant and then at 8weeks I had a natural miscarriage on October 25… almost immediately … my body was back to normal… technically I should not start my period until monday … but I have been very very lightly spotting past couple days. today … i started feeling really nauseous … just like when I found out I was pregnant last time… but then I had no bleeding whatsoever… should i take the test now or wait? we have been ttc since we lost the first baby.

Michelle answers:

Go ahead and take the test. If it is a positive then you have resolution. If it is negative you still have hope, it might just be too early.

Keep in mind, it is not uncommon to spot following a miscarriage. Your hormones are all over the place and so it is possible to spot before your period as they move back into the regular swing of things. The nausea can also be caused by your hormones shifting back into place.

I hope you are pregnant, but even if you are not, you still have three full cycles of heightened fertility to look forward to. So just keep trying and it will happen.

Daniel asks…

Pregnancy test after early miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage on February 7th. I was about 9 weeks and the miscarriage was all natural so the doctor said we could begin trying again whenever we wanted. My husband and I started trying again as soon as I stopped bleeding. I havent got my period yet and I would like to know if I’m pregnant again. If I took a pregnancy test would it show a false positive or is it likely to be accurate since it has been about a month since the miscarriage.

Michelle answers:

It all depends how high your hormones were and how quickly they came down. Did your doc do any blood tests after the miscarriage?

I would get a few pregnancy tests, if you try one and it comes up negative, then you know hcg is out of your system, but you still could potentially be pregnant again. If you do get a positive its nearly impossible to say if its a new pregnancy, or hormones left over from the old.

I’ve had 5 miscarriages, it normally takes me 2-4 weeks for my hcg to go down to a non detectable level. (I’m a pee on a stick addict, I have hundreds of cheap pregnancy tests filling up a drawer in my closet!)

Paul asks…

IVF eggs transfer and home pregnancy test? This is a question for people who are familiar with IVF transfer.?

No offends to anyone but the reason why I direct this quetion to IVF patient is because the procedure and implantation is slighly different that the natural way – that is why the waiting period is also counting differently. Again thank you again for your answers – it is very helpful. My doctor told me that since my transfer was on Saturday, I should not test my self with the home pregnancy test because it might be too soon and it might be still negative. Today is Friday and yes indeed the test was negative. I have my blood test on Monday which will be 10 days after my 5 days transfer….could I really be pregnant and have the home pregnancy test still negative, because although I got a clear instrs ;-)) from my doctor I still tested and despite what he told me I am little concerned. I guess the waiting is just overwhelming.

Michelle answers:

My husband and I went through our one and only IVF cycle and I am now 7 weeks 2 days pregnant. I couldn’t wait either and tested with a home pregnancy test on day 8 after transfer and again on day 9 after the transfer both with a negative. Like I said…I am definately pregnant so don’t put much faith in the home pregnancy test. I even had high levels of HCG with my initial blood test for pregnancy at the lab so I don’t really understand why the HPT didn’t pick it up.
I think I have read that HCG takes longer to show up with a 5 day embryo transfer. I had mine on day three.
I had my first ultrasound two days ago at 7 weeks and although there were two sacs…there was only a healthy fetus in one. The other had only the yolk sac.
Congratulations on the decision to do IVF…I think it is an incredible thing for those of us who can’t conceive in the natural way. Good luck to you…only a couple more days and you will know for sure.

SECOND BBY. IS IT NATURAL FOR MY BELLY TO B THIS BIG?

I’m twelve weeks preggo. This is my second pregnancy, my son is now five yrz old. But my belly looks like I’m way more far along. Lol seems kindaa weird. I didn’t ask the Dr because it slipped my mind. But now its really bothering me. Lol

Michelle answers:

First let me say CONGRATS! I am a mom of 3 and my first pregnancy i did not know I was pregnant until I was in labor (Baby was fine). My second pregnancy was normal (I guess?), Then my last pregnancy my stomach was huge! My doctor said that every pregnancy was different and this is normal. But i had a friend that had a miscarriage at 5 months, because her baby was growing to fast, that is highly unlikely; they doctor did some tests at the begging of pregnancy and said something about that (Something like that, she was crying when she told me)

Steven asks…

Should I start trying to conceive after a recent miscarriage???

I had a miscarriage last week I was 4 weeks pregnant. It was all natural no D&C. We had been trying for the last 8 months. So I was so excited to be pregnant which sadly it ended. The doctor said it was ok to start trying after I stopped bleeding I stopped bleeding yesterday. So I was wondering if you guys think that we should try again? I have a 4 yr old daugher and that pregnancy went fine. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Michelle answers:

I had a complete miscarriage between baby 1 & 2. My doctor told me to wait until I was regular again (about 6 weeks) we lasted @ 3. We were pregnant right away- my husbands claim to fame “I just guess i’m potent” yeah, buddy I think the word is horny… Well that pregnancy resulted in a perfect baby boy. So if your body wants it, go for it…However- if you wait to be regular, it will be that much easier to tell if you are pregnant- aka miss a period. We didn’t wait (6 weeks or until I was regular) and by the 7th week I just took a pregnancy test and it was positive

Betty asks…

First and Last day of period has brown blood/discharge. Normal?

Here’s some details: I’m 27, in a monogamous relationship (we use condoms), I have a 4 year old daughter which was my only pregnancy. I’ve never had any ovarian cysts or an abnormal pap. I get checked regularly and I have never had an STD. I was on birth control pills for a couple years following my daughter, and I have been off them now for about 4-5 months. Since I stopped b/c pills, I’ve been having brown stuff pre and post menstruation. I’ve never had this happen before and I have had times where I’ve gone off of b/c pills for a year or so at a time. So I’m just curious. I don’t have any other symptoms, no abnormal odors, I have had a couple yeast infections over the past 5 months due to spermicide but we figured that out and stopped using it. Other than that, no issues.

The first day/day before my period it’s like a light brown discharge or so, and then it’s followed by a normal period (5-6 days, a couple days heavy the others light, normal blood with small clots which is what I’ve always had, and with cramping), then the last day will be very light blood and when I pee it will come out like rust, it’s dark brown and like flaky almost when it hits the water. I don’t get it, is this just a side effect of all that time on birth control? Old blood from stopping a natural period for so long? Or should I go see my OBGYN? I don’t have any abnormal pain or anything like that, so I haven’t been too concerned about it – just wondering what’s up with it. Thanks!

Michelle answers:

It’s natural. Don’t worry. And good luck!

William asks…

🙂 Mommies to twins, please take a minute to answer this!?

Im 15 weeks pregnant with twins & so curious!

How old are your twins now? What week in your pregnancy did you deliver them? Did you have a natural birth or c-section? How much weight did you gain? When did you find out the genders? How many ultrasounds did you have? Did you have any complications? What were the first few weeks like? How much did your little angels weigh at birth?

Also anything else you would like to add is very much appreciated! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! 🙂

Michelle answers:

I was pregnant with identical twins but I lost one of the babies around 12 weeks. Very high risk and were both in same sac sharing same placenta. I never had morning sickness with being pregnant with twins either.

I wish you the best of luck! One of my babies is in heaven but I am thankful to have her sister.

RE: IVF, If a fertilized embryo is frozen for 5 years then inseminated, surely the baby would have problems?

Does anyone else think IVF is just not natural?

I mean, sperm and egg weren’t meant to last outside of the Human Body for too long…yet scientists are now playing God by mixing sperm+egg in a Petri Dish, then freezing them for 5+ years…and then the couple decides years down the track to insert the embryo into the woman?

Surely there must be some long-term effects on the baby? Would a baby grow up “normal” if it had actually been frozen for 5 years before?! It just doesn’t seem right/natural and is not the way God intended couples to conceive!

Having children is NOT a right! If you are barren…then tough. That is your lot in life.

Michelle answers:

Oh where to begin. Have you seen some of the people in this world who are breeding? If someone wants a baby badly enough to turn to science then they are who should be having children not these 16yo crackys that have three kids. I’m sorry that you do not understand the world that you live in but please do not preach

Sandra asks…

What did you pregnant ladies do to conceive? Besides the obvious?

It’s been almost 3 years since my ectopic with tube removal. I am so beyond frustration!! I eat healthy take prenatals along with other minerals and still nothing! I am desperate! But not desperate enough for Clomid or IVF. I want to conceive all natural. I feel so down at times and sometimes less of a woman.

Michelle answers:

I know your frustrations. I had an ectopic about 5 years ago. About a year later I got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy. When he was 2 we decided to try again…2 miscarriages later I was so angry and sad…I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong. I decided to not “try” so hard…well, still nothing happened. I then really started paying attention to my body…every period, cramp, everything I wrote down. Well, after about 2 or 3 months I knew when I was ovulating and all that…so we tried and boom….I am 18 weeks pregnant. I had sex before, during and after ovulation…lifted my butt up with a pillow for 10 minutes after.
Good Luck and I am sending baby dust 🙂

John asks…

How to release more than one egg?

I know it’s a long shot, but I was wondering if there is a way to get your ovaries to release more than one egg. Preferably, I’m looking for natural ways to get the ovaries to release 2 eggs, as I know you can have IVF, take certain drugs that will liken your chances of 2 eggs releasing, etc.

Does anyone know of any proven ways? Thanks, even if the answer is no!

Michelle answers:

Get your doctor to prescribe you CLOMID, its a fertility drug most use before resorting to IVF. It pushes your body to release eggs and 80% of the time more than one.
But I am a mother of twins and I hope you know that it is a huge responsibility if that is what you are trying to do. I wouldn’t recommend messing with nature and maybe finding someone with newborn twins and giving it a go for a day/night before you try.

Mary asks…

Embryo/egg donation? Or IVF in general?

Me and my husband are thinking of going down this route. What is the proccess involved with IVF? How do you get matched with an embryo in the UK? Is it possible to use my 2 free tries on the nhs for this or will I have to go private? Also will I/the child be able to know who the natural parents are?

We have to do embryo adoption/donation because me and my husband can’t have children. I can only carry. We had already gone through the tests previously before we met to determine this.

The reason I ask about details of the donor is because I wanted the child to know when they were old enough. My husband was adopted so we know all about the heartache of not knowing.

UK only please because it’s different of America. Cheers.
it’s different IN* America.
Also do the nhs have a list of donors or do I have to find a couple on my own?
I forgot, How many do they put in? As they’ll be frozen there’s a smaller chance than if they were fresh.
In the UK please.

Michelle answers:
