Your Questions About Forever 21

Charles asks…

Do you shop at forever 21?

I like forever 21! I only have earrings from there. But the clothes are cheap therefor it’s probably bad quality! I shop at Justice And Aeropostale

Michelle answers:

I LOVE forever 21. They have great style and trust me, when you wear forever 21, you can be confident in the fact that you are super fashionable because they have great designers behind their pieces. The prices are great and worth it, and they have a huge collection of things. I especially love their dresses, tops, and necklaces. They aren’t really that bad of quality, and they are super basic and comfy. If it worries you about the quality, then just continue to shop at Justice and Aero. I love those stores as well! Just because its not that expensive doesn’t mean that its horrible quality.

William asks…

Girls! Do you shop at Forever 21?

It’s like every female shops at Forever 21 now, but I remember when I was in high school and it was a small store in the mall. Back in 2007, before the store blew up, that’s when they had the best products! Now, they have cheap clothes and style. :/

Anyway, what are your favorite stores to shop in?

BQ: What would you call your general style of dress?

Michelle answers:

I shop at Forever 21 sometimes… I mostly go there for camis and long sleeved shirts to layer with, because I noticed that even thier smalls are too big for me, so why would I pay 10 bucks on a skirt that won’t fit properly?

And my fave stores to shop in are mostly Juicy Couture (when I have the cash and near one lol), Victoria’s Secret, Deb, Abercrombie, Hot Topic, Rue 21 and Hollister. Kmart is also good with some things… When they have my size.

My general style would prob be fashion-forward metal girl 🙂 (even tho I’ve noticed that my most recent purshases look like something tha Laurie Partridge would wear)

George asks…

Forever 21 song June 2010?

I am looking for an indie song I heard at two different forever 21‘s today (6/9/10).
I was unable to understand the lyrics, but it sounded like they were saying “luki???” and “malo???”
The guitar was very catchy, almost tropical sounding, and I believe there was a saxophone at one point in the song, and possibly a steel guitar?

Jenny asks…

Charlotte Russe vs. Forever 21?

Out of both, I like Charlotte Russe better.

CR has a lot more year-round sales and more sales racks than Forever 21. I also like CR’s variety of shoes compared to Forever 21, and I also like their variety of jewelry. However, Forever 21 has a larger variety of clothes compared to Forever 21, and you can actually buy some of their merchandise at low prices. Like one time I bought a pair of sunglasses at Forever 21 and it was $4.50. Another time I bought a set of earrings for just $5.50.

All in all, I think Charlotte Russe is way better. Everytime I go to the mall, I always find myself running to Charlotte Russe rather than Forever 21.

Michelle answers:

I love both honestly! For me though, CR is better for dressier tops and shoes and dresses etc. Forever 21 has a lot of dressy clothes but they also have casual clothes and I dress pretty casual for a girl. Not tom boyish but relaxed. During summer, I think Forever 21 has really cute tank tops that aren’t that dressy. They’re light and thin and easy. CR has amazing bandeus though lol! I seriously can’t decide whats better but i think I like Forever 21 more for the variety. CR clothes are better quality than Forever 21 but at Forever 21 you get what you pay for. The clothes last for a year or so.

Daniel asks…

Best food networks/websites?

Hi foodies out there! What are according to you the best cooking/easy to make recipes/food culture/gastronomic tourism sites in English language? Is there anything you would recommend me to take a look at?

Please, only websites, no personal blogs thanks!

Michelle answers:

There are many web site some of are following
1. Gojee: The Beautiful One-
Kicking off the list is probably one of the most salivatingly good looking food and recipes websites we’ve ever seen, with huge “food porn” style glossy photos of seemingly delicious meals and cocktails the order of the day. But there’s a brain behind Gojee’s brawn too.

2. Punchfork: The Crowdsourcing One-
No list detailing the Internet’s tastiest recipes sites would be complete without our very own No.1 Tastiest Recipes Site of 2011, voted for voted for by thousands of All My Faves users out of a strong list of nominees. It’s nobly delicious concept is in ‘crowdsourcing’: taking trending recipes from various social networks and food blogs to draw in and curate the perfect, visual recipes platform.

3. Shiksa in the Kitchen: The Home-Style One-
Meet Tori Avey, a Jewish convert whose love for the worldwide history of food and flavour translates brilliantly into an infectious food blog based around the enthusiastic personality of its owner. It’s all about “culinary anthropology” in the Shiksa’s world, and you can explore it with her; through a never-ending list of home-style cooking recipes, enhanced by stories about the history of the recipes.

4. Chocomize: The Chocolate Lover’s One-
Ok so this isn’t technically a recipes site. It’s actually a website that allows you to design your own perfect chocolate bar, and then have it delivered to you or someone you love.

5. Meet The Dubiens – The Parenting One-
Again, this isn’t technically a recipes site. But if you’re a parent with young kids, and you’re looking for new, fun ways to keep your little darlings eating healthily and entertained at the same time,

6. Taste of Home: The Online Magazine One-
It’s not easy for offline publications to adapt to online times. The Internet’s so much more instant and accessible than any paper publication could ever be. And that’s why we’ve included Taste of Home here. They’ve successfully charted the rickety path from magazine to cross platform, interactive, food website and blog

7. Skinnytaste: The Diet-Conscious One-
You know, being healthy doesn’t mean being boring. There’s a ton of great food out there just waiting to be cooked and served at your dinner table that’s both delicious and diet-conscious at the same time. And we’ve chosen Skinnytaste – a blog by skinny-visionary Gina Homolka – as the recipes website that currently best represents the new online breed of recipe curators dedicated to health and taste at the same time.

8. Veggie Num Num: The Vegetarian One-
How easy is it to be a vegetarian nowadays! When you’ve got beautiful websites like Veggie Num Num providing you with a catalogue of recipes that look and (probably) taste great. It’s pretty much a love letter to vegetarianism; with guides to nutrition and being veggie as well as a handy hints ‘n’ tips section alongside its recipes core.

9. Yummly: The Recipes Search Engine One-to-Watch-
One for you to watch this year is Yummly, a semantic recipes search engine, which finds you the most popular recipes from around the web, based on what kind of ingredients, flavors and sensations you feel like.

10. Pinterest: The Trendy One-
You”re either addicted to Pinterest, or heard of it but don’t have a clue what it is. If you’re the latter and you’re also a connoisseur of great looking online recipes, you should definitely give Pinterest a try. One of the most popular ways of using Pinterest is to create online pinboards with delicious looking food pictures

11. All My Recipes Faves: The EVERYTHING One-
Now this list’s aim was to introduce you to some of the more unique recipes websites online. There’s of course many, many more, both on the Web and on your smartphone. And that’s where All My Faves’ Recipes Faves page comes in handy, especially on your smartphone. It takes the logos of all these sites and a few others that also deserve your discerning dining consideration… and puts them all in one, easy-to-use place.

Some are more like
http://www.food.com/recipes
etc..

Mandy asks…

Why all the hoopla with food network and Paula Deen?

I cannot believe the recent turn of events with the food network and Paul Deen. There are so many things wrong with this picture.

1) We, the public, should not be privy to the inside information of an on going lawsuit that hasn’t even been to court yet. 2) The AP article states that the case (between Uncle Bubba and the woman named Lisa) was not getting much attention, until Paula’s deposition was made public. 3) There appears to be some court involvement, but there has been no verdict from a court…thus, food network is acting out of a sense of being “politically correct” before anything has been proven to be in or out of context. 4) There has been no evidence of Paula being a “practicing” racist…in fact, what are her hiring practices (?).

The list of wrongs, goes on-and-on.

These are the facts: food network has dumped one of it’s few superstars, who has made them millions of dollars, and brought in millions of viewers…based on alleged information that stands to significantly increase the monetary value of the plaintiff’s lawsuit. (Not to mention that it puts the plaintiff’s lawyer on a national stage.)

Doesn’t food network see anything wrong with this?

Think of it, there is a dispute and a difference of opinion between a disgruntled former employee and an employer; who happens to have a partner (and sister) who has a billion dollar enterprise. If you were the plaintiff, sure you would want to involve the sister!

I call on all of the food network celebrities, in particular the African-American celebrities, who have had interaction with Paula over the years…to come forward about their experiences with Paula. I would like for them to express their opinions as to whether they felt she was a racist.

The media has latched on to their next “best seller” and she is being tried in the court of public opinion…why not ask food network celebrities who actually know her…?

All this, and we haven’t even gotten into a conversation on who owns the rights to use which words, and who gets persecuted for using those words. We haven’t discussed whether food network (or, any network) is going to vet any employee–past, present or future–on whether they have used any language that could be construed as offensive.

Would it be if you have ever used offensive terms in your lifetime, or will they pick a date to begin their inquisition?

Since this story broke, I have heard the N-word five times. All by school children, and passersby while sitting on my porch in Savannah, GA. Yes, they were African-Americans. (Should it matter?) Take it from Oprah who said on one of her shows, ‘that can be one of the most hurtful words, or one of the most endearing…depending on context’.

Who determines intent and context?

Paula may have a lawsuit against food network. It would be funny if, in the end, she owned food network.

At the very least, the magnitude of attention that this plaintiff’s lawsuit has suddenly garnered has increased her potential for a huge out-of-court settlement—which, by-the-way, could be protected by the courts as confidential.
This is their “million dollar cup of (too-hot) McD’s coffee”!!!!

Michelle answers:

I do not understand the malfeasance of Food Network either. The N-word harbors little to no hatred nowadays. For example, check out Megaman by Lil Wayne and count how many times the n-word is used in his lyrics. It is ridiculous, and a bit uncanny, for one to use such a “terrible” word repetitively. He also recently desecrated the American flag. No one jumps all over his crap for such a dishonoring act.
I agree; it would be extremely funny if she won a lawsuit against food network.
Food Network’s antics in this situation are displaying a major case of immaturity. I used to watch a couple of their programs (I never saw Paula Deen’s show), but now I will probably boycott their network. Shows like Chopped and Cupcake Wars are simply not worth it in order to support an irrational and fallacious company.

Ruth asks…

LGBT….On the Next Food Network Star….?

How many of the past winners still have a show going on the Food Network

Michelle answers:

Season 1 Winner(s): Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh

Their show was “Party Line with The Hearty Boys”. The show was canceled in 2006. There were 32 episodes and reruns are shown on Food Network on Thursdays at 4 am.

Season 2 Winner: Guy Fieri

His shows consist of “Guy’s Big Bite”, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”, “Ultimate Recipe Showdown” and “Guy Off the Hook”. His shows are still running and he can be seen all over food network. He is my favorite.

Season 3 Winner: Amy Finley

Her show was “The Gourmet Next Door” and aired from October 14 to December 23, 2007, for a total of six episodes, after which it was quietly replaced in its timeslot with reruns of Guy’s Big Bite. Following months of speculation, Finley revealed in May 2008 that she had voluntarily turned down the opportunity to return for a second season, citing the stress of the obligations of being a television personality.

Season 4 Winner: Aaron McCargo, Jr.

His show is “Big Daddy’s House” and is still on the air on Sundays at 12:30 pm/1:30 central. His runner up, Adam Gertler, has his own show called “Will Work For Food” which is shown on Mondays at 8:30 pm/7:30 central.

Your Questions About Fox News

Ken asks…

Why does Fox News have so much?

power over liberals? They are obviously watching Fox News, yet say they hate Fox News and ask so many questions centered around Fox News. I don’t understand how one conservative leaning cable network garners so much attention. So, why does Fox News have so much power over libs? Just curious.
GWB – I beg to differ. How many instances do you see in here of cons referring to the lamestream media? None! Fox News has all the power, admit it.
Tims – Most cons do claim to watch more than one news program. I watch MSNBC for about 20 min every week just to get hooked up to their news cycle. They usually have one news cycle every 7 days. Oh and to see what RM is ranting about with teenagers cheering in the background. People don’t watch MSNBC because it spews hate so vigorously and effortlessly; it’s frightening.
Ed – A question that I often see on here is “Why do libs skirt the issues and rely on insults?”
D&A – let me quelch your curiosity….because conservatives don’t ask even 5% as many questions about all the lamestream media as the libs do about one conservative leaning network, Fox News…did you not get that the first time around in my original question.
Who – lame response.
U&U – Let me draw you a picture…libs talk about Fox News on here so much is why I liken it to Fox Nes having so much power over them. Catch up.

Michelle answers:

Fox news leads all other news channels in ratings. They may be watching because Fox, unlike the lame stream media, presents both sides of issues. It also helps that Fox has the most beautiful women of all the other channels put together, and they are intelligent to boot!

James asks…

So will Fox News stop getting bashed since CNN defends Fox News?

Or will the Obama-Zombies contine to be uneducated. Come on CNN them selves defended Fox News. They realized if they let the white house attack one network and shut them down. What makes you think they aren’t next.

Not to mention it helps with CNN’s pathetic ratings.

Fox News is Number-1 for a reason.
The News is supposed to be the watch dog for Americans and report what is happening. Not cheer lead and water down facts. I hope people finally wake up and smell the communism. It needs to be removed. I don’t want to live in a fidel castro society, where there is government news, and we all get the same equal treatment since it’s “Fair”.
No.- I never said I liked CNN. I simply said they defended Fox News. That’s it, it doesn’t mean I like them. Don’t assume. Learn to read.
Ultima Pressure- You’re right you have an opinion. That’s all you will use is an opinion, never facts. That’s why you’re clueless.
is spelnilg ralely imrtoapnt?- Nice a youtube url from a bias network. Give me a huffingtonpost url next. Then give me Michael Moore’s url. Thanks.

Michelle answers:

Well Fox news isn’t tainted like NBC,CNBC and MSNBC. We all know NBC report the way they do cause the money GE will make off Obama policies. That means if the report the truth like Fox all the billions of dollars would go down the toilet. The only news outlet with agenda is NBC and its other low rated news media outlets.

Helen asks…

Why does Fox news have a bad reputation, ex. people say they lie?

Whenever I hear something or read something about fox news people say “fox news is crap and trash…. full of lies ect.” Did they do something a while ago that gave them this bad reputation? What did they do? Why just FOX news? I think its kind of strange. I watch ABC or NBC sometimes fox, they all seem the same to me. I’m not defending FOX news in any type of way, I’m just curious about what they did to give them a bad reputation.

Michelle answers:

Fox news is simply propaganda that support corporate sponsors views.

Lets see:
(Here is Fox News version of this years supposed 2011 CPAC straw poll results, in which they showed the 2010 version not the 2011 straw poll)

(Here Fox news are apologizing for showing the wrong straw poll)

Fox news said this was a honest mistake, So let me get this straight, they send reporters to film the 2011 straw poll who returned back to fox studios, then decided the candidate who recieved the most votes from the poll was not someone they would endorse, so they accidently sent someone into their film archives to retrieve and air the 2010 version instead and claim that to be the latest straw poll.

Fox does this because they think that their viewers are so stupid and dumb they’ll believe anything.

I woudn’t endorse ABC, CNN or other mega corporate mainstream over FOX, because they all spew their own political inclined propaganda crap.

Sandy asks…

What is the deal with FOX NEWS??

I mean, that’s not Journalism, that’s
biased Propaganda.

How is it not??

If you haven’t seen how horrible
Republicans can be over the last
7 years, their creation of a channel
like Fox news should show you
with obvious effectiveness.
Robert- Your answer is
CNN and ESPN, to name
just two.

Michelle answers:

Well, everybody knows that Fox news is not fair and balanced. In fact that is kind of a running joke.

It is a news service that is owned and operated by the far right, so naturally it is going to be very biased in how it presents things.

Do your own poll and ask everyone you know if Fox news is conservative, liberal, or fair and balanced, and see what they say. Or ask someone why they watch Fox news, and see what they say.

Case closed.

So please help me deactivate my old facebook accounts without login into them. please send me a reply to my e-mail address landerszl@yahoo.com

http://romcartridge.blogspot.com/2010/04/how-to-deactivate-your-account-on.html

Good luck!

Laura asks…

Can someone help me with this Facebook Login issue?

I have been locked out of my account since March 2011. I continue after attempting to login it get taken to a link:

https://www.facebook.com/checkpoint/ with the error of Opps something went wrong.

I have changed my password and done extensive login changes regarding security to see if this error would change but it doesn’t.

And just so you all know. I’ve attempted every week to contact Facebook since March to no avail.

I’ve also know how to clear the cookies and all that internet protocol. It just plainly does not work.
I’ve also tried to login with every browswer imaginable including early and latest versions of that browser and changed up the settings. I’ve attempted to login via apps from the Ipad, the Android tablet, the phones, everything and still the same error will come up.

I need help from someone with a solution and please don’t answer just for the sake of answering to score points with Yahoo Answers. I’m still making effort in contacting Facebook so please pass on giving me advice on getting in touch with Facebook or change a setting with my browser.

I need to get an email address that responds and doesn’t send auto replies. I need to talk to a facebook support Rep. Since March, I have not had a response yet.

I only get emails from Facebook stating that I have notifications, or messages, or wall comments. I go through their link to login and left with the same result; that error.

I’ve disected that whole Facebook Help page beyond anyone’s comprehension and have not found a result or solution.

Please help me as having been with out Facebook and left to dry up isn’t helping.
18 minutes ago – 4 days left to answer.
Additional Details
I’m not looking for an alternative account. Also, to the second responder, can you please respond to me again with more detail about how you managed your technique. Also in order for me to link my number. I have to login. I can’t do nothing or set or link anything until after I’m logged in.

Michelle answers:

I believe you have tried the forgot password and recovery/reset password options. So, let’s try- Login with wrong password… After few attempts generally facebook shows you a login page where you don’t have to enter the e-mail address as it recognizes it n show it by showing your name and profile picture. All you gotta do is to enter the password, may work not sure. Used it once to hack into a friends account

even i hv sort of a similar prob with facebook login. In firefox browser i hav a frnd’s login details stored but it always says the password is incorrect in first try but will accept it in 2nd shot 🙂

Mark asks…

how does the facebook login work?

i am building a website. the index just a login button and after someone logs in, they will be redirected to the home page. this all works perfectly. however, if someone has logged in to the site, i dont want them to be able to return to this original login page i can sort of accomplish this with a redirect but that doesnt look very good. i noticed that facebook does what i am looking to accomplish and when i took a closer look at it, i noticed that, when you arrive at the site and you are not logged in you are on the index. after logging in you reach the home page with the page name “home.php” if you close the facebook tab and reopen it, you will be on the home page but the page name is index.

does anyone know how they do this?

Michelle answers:

To elaborate on the previous answer –

If you have access to the database which houses the user login information, you should be able to detect if a user is logged in. Most systems will have a DB row indicating a 0 or 1, respectively, for whether a user is logged in or not.

If you can find that, then it’s relatively simple. You’ll need to connect to the DB and use PHP to detect and redirect accordingly. All of this would go in the script for your login page.

Example code (may not be applicable to your DB setup)

id != 0) {

header(Location: “/members”);

}

?>

This simply checks to see what the current user id is. If they are not logged in, it should return 0. If the id equals anything besides this, then you’ll redirect.

Michael asks…

how do i change my facebook login password?

i would like to change my facebook login password

Michelle answers:

Just leave facebook, it’s pretty sad, it’ll probably make you loose a lot of your real friends and it’s scientifically proven to be bad for you. And now the fascists, sorry the government, are going to spy on everything you do on there (I mean aren’t they supposed to be busy, I dunno, fixing the economic crisis that’s threatening the country?)

Your Questions About Fafsa

David asks…

scholarships without fafsa?

what if someones parents cant fill out the fafsa because they havent filled out the tax reports, is there someway to ge them filled before doing the fafsa, im just really confused about all this. also theres probably people out there whos parents are illegal and arent able to fill out the fafsa because they havent done any of the tax papers, are they still eligeable for scholarships and stuff.

Michelle answers:

I found this on the frequently asked questions section of the fafsa website, your best bet is call customer service and ask them yourself what you can do to apply if your parents don’t file any income tax. I would try my best to get that grant, I got one and man it helped a whole lot. I’ll give you the customer service number and see what they say.

How do I answer the tax questions if I (or my parents) don’t file a tax return?

If you will not file a tax return, you should answer Will Not File for question 32 which is “For 2006 have you completed your IRS income tax return or another tax return?” You will then be taken to the Income earned from work question, where you should enter any earnings from your W-2 form. You should only answer the income questions that apply to you.

If your parents will not file a tax return, they should answer Will Not File for question 76 which is “For 2006, have your parents completed their IRS income tax return or another tax return?”

If you have questions or problems regarding the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the Web, or specific questions about the FAFSA, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). If you are hearing impaired and have questions, please contact the TTY line at 1-800-730-8913.

You can also contact a customer service representative online, by selecting the “Live Help” button. For online application status checks, go to the FAFSA on the Web home page and select “Check status of a submitted FAFSA or Print a Signature Page” from the FAFSA Follow-up section 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Sandy asks…

need help with fafsa?

i read that the fafsa doesnt give you money, but it gives you info that you can use to get money from other things, like the pell grant. are there any other grants i can apply for using the info i got from my fafsa? my efc number is 3283

Michelle answers:

The fafsa is the application for all forms of need based federal and state grants. Some scholarship applications will ask for your EFC from your fafsa do determine how poor you are. That is a low EFC, congratulations, you will get a pell grant.

Scholarships are different and are not usually based on “need” but “merit” like having a good GPA or high test scores.

The fafsa is the only and all encompassing application for federal and state grants.

Sharon asks…

School messing with my FAFSA?

So, while applying for my FAFSA this year, I left my daughter off of the form because I didn’t want to claim her on the FAFSA until I got her social security card (just incase the financial aid office wanted to see it.) I then amended the FAFSA when I got her SS card. About a week later I get an e-mail saying that an administrator had changed my FAFSA and that I needed to review it for correctness. When I went to review the changes I noticed they had taken my daughter off the FAFSA. I then repaired the FAFSA and contacted the financial aid office at my school and informed them of the changes, they said they would contact me if they needed any additional information. I recieved my reward and signed it. Now, I got an e-mail from the college I’m attending, that said we could renew our FAFSA‘s. I went online and was viewing the FAFSA I turned in for this year and noticed that the the school based my aid this year on not having any dependants. They have based my aid on information they made up, is there anything I can do about this? Their screwing me around, telling me they’ll get back to me. Can I get the FAFSA fixed and recieve additional funds for the year?

Background: I’m a 30 year old single dad. I didn’t claim my daughter on taxes last year but I will be this year. Only recieved $1700 in Pell and my EFC was 0 after I filled out the info.

Michelle answers:

You may be having an issue because household size is a field that can only be changed in certain circumstances. Household size cannot be “updated” after the initial completion of the FAFSA unless the FAFSA was selected for verification. So, if you are changing this field, and your FAFSA was not selected for verification, the school may think that you are “messing” with your FAFSA. They need to understand that you are attempting to make a “correction” (i.e., you were supporting your child at the time of FAFSA completion and have continued to do so throughout the FAFSA award year), as opposed to an “update.” They will require at least a statement from you explaining the the situation. Your current Financial Aid is based on your 2011-12 FAFSA. If a Financial Aid Office were to disburse funds based on a FAFSA on which the household size was changed after the completion date without supporting documentation, they would have made a mistake and would be found at fault in an audit. See my source for information on corrections versus updates.

Nancy asks…

First time FAFSA applicant?

For the year 2009-2010 I plan on filing for a fafsa grant. I was wondering what it is exactly required. Also should I call or fill out an application online Jan 1,2009? I was also wondering if I should fill out a application for admission to the community college I plan to attend before filing a fafsa loan~

Michelle answers:

Go to the FAFSA website. It gives you all the info you need there. But in general you have to fill out the forms, your parents have to fill out the forms (unless you are over 24, are married or have a child of your own).

FAFSA has a deadline of March 1st, but the school you want to go to may have a different deadline so be sure to check with the school you are applying to.

You should apply to the school of your choosing ASAP. If you don’t know the school code or if you are accepted, you can skip that part on the FAFSA and still submit it. When you know what school you will be attending you will then go back and fix the FAFSA form.

Your Questions About Firefox

Thomas asks…

What is up with firefox?

What is the difference between
Firefox beta 6
Aurora 7
and nightly 8
im very confused

Michelle answers:

Release Candidate (RC), Beta, Aurora, and Nightly are Firefox’s different stages of development.
Nightly –> Aurora –> Beta –> Release Candidate (RC) –> Firefox

Firefox 6 beta will develop into Firefox 6 Release Candidate, and then into Firefox 6

Firefox Aurora 7 will develop into Firefox 7 beta, then it will develop into Firefox 7 Release Candidate, and then into Firefox 7

Firefox Nightly 8 will develop into Firefox Aurora 8, and then it will develop into Firefox 8 beta, then it will develop into Firefox 8 Release Candidate, and then into Firefox 8

George asks…

what is so good about firefox?

what is different about firefox then internet explorer?

Michelle answers:

Up until Internet Explorer 7, Firefox was tabbed while IE was not. They are both tabbed now.

The most important difference is security, as Internet Explorer is in my estimation the root of the vast majority of malware issues.

There is also more customizability for Firefox, with tons of user-created extensions. Internet Explorer is also a bit slow in drawing pages, although I wouldn’t exactly call Firefox lightning fast either.

However, I recommend other browsers about Firefox, such as K-Meleon (my top choice), Opera, or Orca. K-Meleon and Orca both run on the Gecko (Firefox) engine, but have a different layout and options, which as a result have them running more quickly than Firefox.

Sandy asks…

internet/firefox.com?

how do i hook up with firefox internet

Michelle answers:

Firefox takes you to the same internet as any other browser.

If you’re asking how to get Firefox, download it from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Susan asks…

will updating firefox erase any internet history?

on my windows 7 laptop, i believe that the firefox browser is corrupted, and also the version of firefox is out of date, it prompted me to update, so i wondered if i update firefox will it erase the internet history ?

as the internet history is important to me.

so im considering doing either ; a fresh re-install or updating firefox to resolve the problem – but i dont want to erase anything important ?

which is best to do ; a reinstall of firefox or updating it ? its certainly corrupted.

will anything be erased ? also , how can i save the internet history in firefox ? is there a way?

Michelle answers:

Just update your firefox, don’t worry, your firefox history are safe
or
Download the newest version of firefox here:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop
if Firefox already installed on your PC, when you double click the setup files, it will automatically update existing firefox installation. NO history or bookmark will removed.

Btw, you can always backup your history…
Click Firefox (up-left section) > History > Show All history > Import and Backup > Backup

Your Questions About Fedex

Mary asks…

fedex !! helpp????????

ok so i looked on the tracking website for fedex and it says that its coming today and do they deliver on saturday and what time will it get here??
and i ordered something online and they shipped it to fedex

Michelle answers:

Fedex works in so many countries. And works as per the local policy. You did not mention your country name here.

In most of the countries it does work on Saturday so if it is showing you are surely going to get that when delivery boy will come in your area because he has also so many things to deliver.

Call to fedex local office they will guide you further. Goto WWW.fedex.com search for local office or contact customer care for local office timings and contact details.

Lisa asks…

Can FedEx employees transfer between companies?

For example, can an employee at FedEx Office transfer to FedEx Express?

If yes, what are the requirements? Thanks.

Michelle answers:

Yes, FedEx prides itself on hiring and promoting within the company. If you are a FedEx Office employee, you should be able to log into whatever your internal network is and find the recruiter homepage to find a job either within FedEx Office or another Operating Company. Ask your manager for more details.

Maria asks…

Fedex Required Signature?

This may sound a little odd but I have never received a fedex package that I had to sign for before. Usually someone else in my house got to the door before me, but now I live alone and am expecting a package that requires a signature. Since I have never had to do it before what should I expect?

Do they just hand PDA or something and I sign or ?

Michelle answers:

Usually this is the case, they hand you a PDA and you sign…

Here is information taken from fedex’s site.

For shipments to residential addresses, shippers can choose from three FedEx Delivery Signature Options. A fee applies.

Note: If the shipper does not select one of the three signature options, FedEx may deliver the shipment without a signature.

Indirect Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature in one of three ways:
From someone at the delivery address; or
From a neighbor, building manager or other person at a neighboring address; or
The recipient can sign a FedEx door tag authorizing release of the package without anyone present.

Direct Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature from someone at the delivery address. If no one is at the address, FedEx will reattempt delivery. For FedEx Express shipments, the recipient may also choose to pick up the package at the location listed on the door tag.

Adult Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature from any person at least 21 years old (government-issued photo identification required) at the delivery address. If no one is at the address, FedEx will reattempt delivery. For FedEx Express shipments, the recipient may also choose to pick up the package at the location listed on the door tag.

Chris asks…

FedEx Shipping Question?

What does Shipping Information sent to FedEx mean? Here is the box thingy.
Jun 11, 2009 3:01 AM Shipment information sent to FedEx
Jun 10, 2009 11:40 AM Left FedEx origin facility Kunshan CN
Jun 10, 2009 10:24 AM Picked up Kunshan CN

Michelle answers:

June 11 means that the FedEx place received your order.
(10:24 is before 11:40?)

June 10 at 11:40 means that it left the first FedEx sorting place to go to Kunshan China.(Wow that is far away!)
June 10 at 12?:24 means that it arrived and was picked up at Kunshan China.

Or maybe they just got the numbers mixed up and its like this:

Jun 11, 2009 3:01 AM – the FedEx place recieved your order.

Jun 10, 2009 10:24 AM – It was picked up to go to Kunshan China.

Jun 10, 2009 11:40 AM – It was sorted and then left the sorting place in Kunshan China.

I know that is confusing but I think that is what it means. I hope that helped somehow! 😀 I used FedEx like two weeks ago and it was hard to understand.!!!

Your Questions About Fafsa

Helen asks…

FAFSA… not free anymore?

A friend of mine recently filled out her FAFSA but said she was asked for her credit card number and was going to be charged $79.99 for a “review” of her application. I haven’t applied recently, nor plan to, but I thought that was a little off… is the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid not FREE anymore???
And do you happen to have links to where I can see if this is true or not. I have looked into it some, but without actually applying, I have no good way of checking that out.

Michelle answers:

The FAFSA is always free! FAFSA is short for “Free Application for Federal Student Aid.”

It’s possible your friend stumbled upon a site that submits the FAFSA for a fee. Thanks to recent changes, the FAFSA is so much easier to fill out than ever. The sections are color coded between parent and student sections so you can see at a glance what you have to answer — and what is left for your parents.

Fill out the FAFSA as early as possible — you have a better chance at snagging grants (which don’t have to be paid back) than not. Otherwise, colleges can still use your FAFSA info to match you up with their institution-specific scholarships/grants.

William asks…

FAFSA Due date situation?

I am a undergraduate class of 2012 and was wondering if I can still fill out my fafsa even though I have not submitted any college applications, the college I am most likely going to is a community college and the term I want to enroll is Fall or Winter 2012 but it is not available yet, instead the college I want to go to is offering Spring 2012 according to my state California, I should have my fafsa in by March 2 ( for initial awards) / September 2 (for additional community college awards) Am I allowed to wait until the term I want is available and then do the Fafsa or do I have to have the Fafsa in regardless if the term I want to apply for isn’t available?

Michelle answers:

Only FAFSA application that is available to fill out is 2012-2013 which is for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. If you are interested in going to a college starting in the fall of this year you can fill out the 2012-2013 FAFSA application. And you do not have to apply to the college, university or community college prior to filling out the FAFSA application. You can list the schools you are interested in possibly attending. The schools you list will be able to view all the information you put on the FAFSA application. It’s actually best if you fill out the FAFSA first so it has time to process then immediately fill out the applications and send payment in for the application to the schools you are interested in attending. And as far as the community college goes list them on FAFSA as well, fill their application out and then register for the courses you are interested in. Most community colleges have priority registration and some require you to see a counselor and take a specific weekend course in order to boost your priority from last to 3rd or 4th (this is what the local community college requires where I live in Northern California), and then the more courses you take & then talk to a counselor in regards to your academic plan then your priority goes up as well.

Good luck!

Robert asks…

FAFSA not working, HELP!?

I applied for FAFSA a couple weeks ago & I got a confirmation email after saying I was qualified for financial aid. I just registered for my classes this week, & when I checked my pay fees it said I had to pay $300+. I know financial aid is suppose to cover mostly everything for college and I just wanted to know what’s wrong with FAFSA?

Michelle answers:

FAFSA is just a form/application to apply for grants/loans and you submit it to your college using it FAFSA school code. Then the college financial aid office use FAFSA to determine the amount of grants/loans you should receive based on the tuition.

If you have problems with your financial aid award package, ask or see a financial aid counselor on campus. There is nothing wrong with FAFSA. Unless you submitted wrong information.

Charles asks…

FAFSA money overseas?

Is it possible to use money received in a FAFSA in a university outside the US? I’m applying to a school in Canada (Concordia to be exact) and I want to know if the money I receive from my FAFSA can be used there. Thanks for all the help.

Michelle answers:

The FAFSA, Free Application For Student Aid, is just that — an application only. It is used by colleges and universities in the USA to help them determine what sort of financial aid package (loans, scholarships and grants) they will offer to students who have applied and been accepted to each college/univ.

Any financial aid offers resulting from a FAFSA application are made by the specific college/university to which one has applied. The financial aid funds do not come from FAFSA.

Therefore, for Concordia Univ. In Montreal, Quebec, Canada, I doubt if the univ. Uses the U.S. Dept. Of Education FAFSA form to help determine the financial aid it will offer to an applying student.

No doubt you have read the financial aid info Concordia Univ. Has on it’s web pages:
http://www.concordia.ca/admissions/financial-aid-and-awards/

This is a link to info from the univ. Regarding US students with loans through the US Dept. Of Education:
http://faao.concordia.ca/main/news/getannounceitem.shtml?category=news&id=620

If you have not already done so, I recommend you telephone the Concordia Univ. Financial Aid Office
514-848-2424 ext. 3507
and speak with a univ. Financial aid counselor about the possibilities for financial aid for a student from the USA.

Best wishes.

Your Questions About Food Network

Michael asks…

what the name of this Food network tv show?

its a guy that goes all over the world and eats really weird foods…. i love trying new food and want to try something he’s eaten ….. anyone know his name or the name of the show?

Michelle answers:

Food Network… Anthony Bourdain, “A Cook’s Tour”
Was he a tall think guy with curly hair?
Food network website: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_tb/0,1976,FOOD_9996,00.html

On the Travel Channel, there’s Andrew Zimmern, “Bizarre Foods”. He’s a pudgy, bald dude.

Also, Anthony Bourdain has a new show on the Travel Channel, “No Reservations.”

Linda asks…

i food network cookware any good?

Michelle answers:

Food Network sells some good cookware, as well as cookware that’s over priced. I would suggest that you use the information about particular brands offered by Food Network and then buy your cookware locally based on your opinion of the “best brand for best available dollars”.

I’m still on my first set of Farberware that I bought in 1978 after my other pots and pans (Volware – no longer is made) was ripped off by the moving company. My nephew (26)bought Farberware in July 2007 after destroying his first set of non-Farberware. He immediately chose Farberware in July because all of his family have been very happy with it for longer than he’s been alive!

Whatever brand you decide to buy, look/call around a few places for the best deal. And make sure you’re getting a good assortment on sizes of pans (and lids) or you’ll spend more to complete your basic cookware.

Nancy asks…

Food Network?

I was just wondering who watches FN and what shows? Do you have any dislikes or favorites?

Michelle answers:

I swear I watch Food Network 90% of the time I ever watch t.v. My roommate is about to kill me b/c she’s so sick of Rachael Ray and all the other hosts.

My favorite is anything Rachael Ray is on, but mostly her 30 Minute Meals show. I’ve made so many delicious things from her show, she hasn’t steared me wrong once! She’s just such a cute, delightful person I can’t help but love her 🙂

I think Ina Garten is a total snob, haha, but I really enjoy watching her for some reason. Her food is usually really tasty too, if I can afford that caviar and smoked salmon, haha.

My biggest dislike is Bobby Flay. Ok, yes, he’s a fabulous chef, and one of the most educated out of the whole bunch. But, I find him really boring and his dishes are always so complex and contain crazy ingredients I can’t afford or even find.

Daniel asks…

Food Network?

Who is your favoret on the food network? And Why?
I like Easy entertaining with Michael Chiarello and
Tyler’s ultimate Chef Tyler Florence

Michelle answers:

I like Iron Chef although I have a 2 year old who LOVES watching Food Network. Its the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. Everytime we pass that channel he yells out “cooking food.” He’d watch any of the cooking shows and actually gets upset if I change the channel lol.
I also like Throw down with Bobby Flay and Ace of Cakes too.
I like Bizarre Foods and Anthony Bordain but, at least where I live, they’re both on the travel channel. Although I have seen Anthony Bordain on Food Network doing other things.
