Your Questions About Fox 23

Lisa asks…

What are the prerequisites of running a rugby league club? How do I seek sponsorship for a league club?

We have just affiliated a rugby league club to play in our semi professional competition. Please assist by sending sample forms and letters to send around seeking for players and sponsorship.

Michelle answers:

There’s a new club (since 2002) in Ottawa, Canada, called the Ottawa Coven. If you have more questions, I recommend emailing the people on the website:http://www.eorurugby.com/clubs/index.php?cid=24

Just let them know your dillema, and they should help you out. Good luck.

Home Field: University of Ottawa Sportsplex / Terry Fox Athletic Facility
History:

Founded in 2002, The Coven is committed to offering opportunities for women of all ages to play rugby at either the recreational or competitive levels.

Our inaugural season was more successful than even we had hoped. We began the season as most new clubs do — playing short and praying for new arrivals — but by the end of the season, we had over 30 players registered and, although victory eluded us, we ended the season well pleased with both the experience and our progress.

Personal highlights included the selection of Brianna Hennessy to the Canadian Under-19 Women’s Team. Brianna joins our club captain, Sheila Schindel, who is listed with the National Under-23 squad.

The 2003 season has started with a bang — The Coven recording its first victory at the Oshawa Tournament on May 20th

George asks…

Does anyone know of any studies, explaining the ratio of girls to boys who watch American Idol?

I’ve been curious about this for a while o: I feel like winning American Idol would be a lot harder for a girl these days provided the majority of viewers probably being girls, so based on that I believe that most of the votes would go towards a talented and attractive young man?

Michelle answers:

TV critics have discussed what you’ve noticed that the last 5 winners of the FOX Reality Competition were scuffy white young (aged 20 – 27 or so) men who play guitars and write their own “hits”. Such daily or weekly writing TV Critics at NY TIMES dot-com and WASHINGTON POST dot-com have covered this aspect of the entrenched leading TV series.

There is also an undercurrent of “hate-regard” for the trends on the show at the subversive website

VOTEFORTHEWORST dot-com — it contains links to other discussion locations on the worldwide web as far as reality singing / talent competitions.

I did not hear such griping about white males being over-favored on the NBC series “The Voice” — former Mouseketeer (as were Justin TImberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera) Tony Lucca who is an older white guitar performing male singer DID NOT Win nor did the white male Opera Singer. I also believe that the voting base for the NBC series was more like the make-up of America itself and less over-representing pre-teen and tween girls who vote and over-vote.

It was perhaps anomalous last year when the 17-year-old male won out with a big percentage of actual record buyers — Scotty McCreery has a debut album that went platinum while many in the last 5 seasons were really not good singers as far as selling their music and packing audiences in for concerts. There are also review articles at music media / periodicals (like ROLLINGSTONE and BILLBOARD) that discuss how the voters are a predictable sort of young female TV viewers

EDIT: (9:15 a.m. Friday EASTERN) — this review of the Wedn.May 23 Finale focuses on “Middle-Aged women and Tween Girls” as biggest voters:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/tv-column/post/phil-phillips-american-idol-win-watched-by-22-mil–smallest-finale-audience-on-record/2012/05/24/gJQAxxYnnU_blog.html

What is a list of most of the Netherlanidsh Proverbs in the painting of Pieter Brugel?

Pieter Brugel was a painter who did a painting about 100 proverbs.

Charles asks…

How do you submit tv show ideas to networks?

I have no idea where to start, but have a few ideas…

Michelle answers:

Sorry but you can’t- if you check the FAQ at most of the networks they will tell you NOT to bother sending them scripts/ideas as they just
Throw them Away without Reading them

Movie/TV writers have Agents and usually have to belong to the Writer’s union ( writer’s guild)

ABC
“What are ABC’s guidelines for unsolicited submissions of story ideas or concepts?

Unfortunately, ABC and The Walt Disney Company’s long-established policy does not allow the network to accept for review or consideration any ideas, suggestions, or creative materials not solicited by us or our subsidiaries. Our intention is to avoid misunderstandings when projects are created internally which might be similar to submissions made to us from outside the company.

“5. I have written a script for my favorite FOX show. Where can I send it?

ANSWER:

Keep on writing…..the more you write the better you will get !!

But….
Do not send in ideas or scripts to FOX or to the show unless it is through an accredited agent. ALL unsolicited ideas and scripts are left unopened and are THROWN AWAY. This is for YOUR protection.

You can get a list of agents who are willing to look at new writers from the Writers Guild of America West (located in LA). ”

Your Questions About Facebook Login

Mark asks…

How to login to RuneScape 2007 with facebook?

Question explains most of it. How do you login to 07 servers with your facebook account? My sister registered her account with facebook, but cannot login to 07scape. How does she login?

Michelle answers:

You can’t.

Sandra asks…

Why is there a yellow highlight in the login box when I type my login name?

Is this a spyware or what? Everytime I login to check my email or to facebook, the login box where I type my login ID has a yellow highlight. What does this mean?

Michelle answers:

Many sites do this now so you can see where to put your id etc. Its pretty normal and not a virus or spyware.

Robert asks…

How to connect to Facebook on draw something ?

Everytime I try to connect to Facebook on draw something it says an error has occurred and won’t connect. I have tried deleting and re installing the app but it still does it. Anyone know how to fix this so I can connect to facebook?

Michelle answers:

1# One way to fix your problem is log in to your existing account and go setting. Then you press account, change your email that is not related to your Facebook. Then you log out and sign in using Facebook on the main menu.

2# Draw Something Facebook Connect Fix – First. Go to setting to cancel the email address, then QUIT the app immediate.

Second. Delete the app, reinstall again (free app, you can download many times)

Third, create a NEW account. Pay special attention on this step,
choose “Facebook” to log on
( but at the same time, you MUST have the Facebook logged on first)

3# You have to log in with your email first. Go into your settings and change your email address. I just put a 123 in it. Then save it and then log out. Then click on log in with Facebook it should work. The reason is because if you used your same email for the app as your email for Facebook then you already have an account for that email and it won’t create a new one. So change it save and log out then retry with facebook for draw something.

4# Using facebook login. The reason is that you used email to login my draw something which is the same as my Facebook email. You would need to go settings, update my email, make it different with my Facebook email, logout the account. Now you can login via Facebook .

5# If you delete the app then re-install it, once you re-install it you can enter through Facebook and it keeps all the games you had previously.

Linda asks…

How to hack my deactivated Facebook account?

I had changed my Facebook‘s password which I eventually forgot and before I could request a new one I got to know through my friends that my Facebook‘s account has been deactivated and even the password has changed. I don’t know what to do. Please help.
Thank You.

Michelle answers:

You can request a new password by clicking the Forgot your password? Link on the Facebook log in page. They wi’ll send you an email with a link to reset your password.

If you no longer have access to the email addresses associated with your Facebook account, you may be able to get into your account by answering a security question or getting help from friends. To see if you have these options:
Go to the Facebook login page and click Forgot your password?
Fill out the form to identify your account.
Look at the list of email addresses listed on your account. If you don’t have access to any of these, click the No longer have access to these? Link.
Follow the directions provided to answer your security question or get help from friends, if you see these options, or contact your email service provider.

Please be sure to try every option for identifying your account.
In option 1, try entering every email address that you have ever owned (one email address at a time). You can also ask one of your Facebook friends to view your profile (timeline) and send you the email address listed on your account.
In option 1, try entering your current and past mobile numbers (one number at a time).
In option 2, enter you username. A username is your personalized Facebook URL (web address) and appears in the location bar of your browser after “http://www.facebook.com/” when you view your profile (timeline). If you don’t know your username, you can ask one of your Facebook friends to view your profile (timeline) and tell you what your username is.
In option 3, try a variety of names. You may have signed up for a nickname and forgotten about it. You should also try a variety of friends if the first friend you enter doesn’t locate an account.

Your Questions About Food Network

Michael asks…

Can you grill steaks directly on charcoal?

So I’m watching Food Network last night and on one of the shows, the host grilled steak directly on charcoal. I mean, he removed the steel grate and put the meat right on the coal.

Is that safe and healthy and if so, can you provide any tips on cooking this way! Also, would you cook a filet mignon this way or what kind of steak would you cook this way?

Thanks in advance!

Michelle answers:

Personally, I would not want to do this because I would think that it would make the meat gritty. Who wants gritty steak? Maybe there is a trick to it. I’d check out the Food Network’s website and see if I could fine the recipe section.

Here’s a link.

William asks…

Who knows about those strawberries that are supposed to make you climax?

A long while ago I saw on the food network these chocolate covered strawberries that are special because when you eat them they trigger a very sensitive part in your brain that has to do with pleasure, making you very close to climazing…is this for real? and where would they sell something like that?

Michelle answers:

I’m not a devotee of the food network, so I’ve never heard of this alleged product, but I’m skeptical that it exists. Eating chocolate will release dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in pleasure and reward, but I’ve never heard of any food product that will result in an orgasm. I do recall, however, that during the early days of SSRI antidepressants (a family that includes such drugs as Prozac) that some women taking these drugs found they would have orgasms while sneezing or yawning. This effect was discovered when one doctor found that his (female) patient didn’t want to discontinue the drugs, even after she was “better.”

Sharon asks…

What are the cable networks that you wouldn’t be willing to part with?

Cablevision recently dropped the Food Network and HGTV…but are these the cable networks you couldn’t stand to loose?

Michelle answers:

Cassie Since I am older I do not have any of the teen networks.

Have a Good Year !

Paul asks…

Does a restaurant’s ambiance contribute to a customer’s judgment of the food served?

Experiments have been conducted regarding the overall effect of a restaurant’s presentation (cleanliness, service, appearances of dining area, etc.) on a typical customer’s resulting opinion of the food, all being driven from “first impression.”
Though a common bias from those interviewed by Food Network, I want to hear from you. Comment on any past experiences that you might have enjoyed a tasty meal, in spite of the unpleasant eating area or service, or visa versa.

Michelle answers:

Commuting in and out of New York City often, there are literally millions of restaurants in the town, what I have found and many other people around the area will tell you is that it’s often just the opposite here – often the largest places are known as “tourist” traps. The famous NYC restaurant Serendipity charged $25,000.00 a dish for ice cream yet the place was closed down by the board of health because inspectors found “mouse droppings” and many other violations http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/452119/famous_new_york_restaurant_serendipity.html?cat=51

On the other hand, many smaller “mom and pop” little cafes serve some of the best dishes in New York City.

Your Questions About Firefox

Robert asks…

How do I pin a url to my firefox menu in the Windows 7 taskbar?

I have firefox 3.6.17 pinned to my taskbar and there are few urls pinned that I reference frequently. However I cannot figure out how to get another url pinned there.

Sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology. And thank you!

Michelle answers:

You mean having a couple things like firefox or yahoo messenger’s icon on your taskbar as a little shortcut to the program? If so, you might have run out of possible space for icon shortcuts. Most taskbars only allow 6 to 8 shortcuts, more or less. If this is how you’re doing it:

Go to Start => Settings => Control Panel => Taskbar and Start Menu.
Make sure the Lock the taskbar is NOT checked.
Then check the box marked Quick Launch.
Then click OK.
Your Taskbar is now ready to accept new shortcuts.
Your window should look like the window above.
When you let go of the mouse, the chosen shortcut will appear on your desktop. For example,
To move that shortcut onto your Taskbar, click and drag the shortcut onto the Taskbar.
You may have several shortcuts on your Taskbar. If it appears there is not enough room, simply click and drag to the right the bar that is to the right of the existing shortcuts.
To add a shortcut to your Taskbar, go to Start> Toolkit> MSWord (or any other program desired).

So if that’s how you’re doing it, it should work, unless you have exceeded your shortcut limit. Hope I helped!

Daniel asks…

How can I have multiple tabs showing simultaneously in Firefox?

Is there a way to have firefox split the page in half showing 2 tabs so i can view them side by side?

Michelle answers:

Yes. There is a Firefox add-on named, “Split Browser” that will do this.

A brief demonstration of it is shown in the video that is attached to the following article:
http://www.cleartechinfo.com/Top-10-Favorite-Firefox-3-Add-ons

Chris asks…

What is a good firefox addon for a bookmark panel?

I’m looking for a firefox add on that has a panel similar to Internet Explorer (with history and favorites). I don’t need a whole bunch of extra stuff, just a panel on the side with these links.
Thanks!

Michelle answers:

I couldn’t find a Firefox Addon which created a bookmarks panel. There’s one that emulates Opera but not IE.

Richard asks…

How can I change Firefox’s default resolution without changing my desktops?

I just installed Windows 7 and, of course, Firefox. I decided to use a higher resolution, but this is kind of a pain in Firefox – just about every web page has blank bars on the side and the text is fairly small. I know I can change font size, but is there any way I can stop Firefox from using my resolution?

Michelle answers:

Your Questions About Fedex

Lizzie asks…

FedEx not bothering to deliver packages do door and only leaves at apartment office?

I order alot of things online and UPS will always deliver them to my apartment door, FedEx on the other hand cant be bothered with this apparently and leaves EVERYTHING with the apartment office and not even a note on my door or attempt to check if im home thus I usually dont know I’ve gotten a package until well after I should have. I complained to both FedEx and apartment office, both blame the other.

Michelle answers:

That may be because of an agreement that Fedex has with your apt complex… Some gated communities stop delieveries at the front gate, to minimize the chances of strangers roaming around the complex..

No real way around it.

Sharon asks…

How do I track damaged pkg by FedEx see if it was returned to sender?

FedEx had a damaged pkg so did not deliver would like to know where it went because item was not debited to my account. I don’t know if I have the original tracking #. Should I contact FedEx to report this situation?

Michelle answers:

Shouldnt you have a tracking number on the package? Usually they will give you a number adn you can track it at the fedex website. Or at least thats what i think ups does. You should even call where you were recieving the package from. Make sure they got it.

William asks…

I am planning to use FedEx to mail my cat to a different state, is that safe?

I live in Hawaii, and I’m planning to mail my cat using FedEx to California. Is that safe? How long will I be able to receive my cat. Do I need a kennel?

Michelle answers:

I’m not going to judge.. Just going to give you the information (while on a tour in Memphis I did see Elephants being shipped.. However as this would answer another question I will just include the following)
——————————————————————————–

Live Animals

FedEx does not accept live animal shipments as part of its regularly scheduled service. Live animals will be accepted when the shipment is coordinated and approved by the FedEx Live Animal Desk. Acceptable shipments include, but are not limited to, zoo animals (to and from zoo locations only) and horses (from gateway to gateway locations only). Household pets, such as domestic cats and dogs, and live fish are not accepted. For more information, contact the FedEx Live Animal Desk at 1.800.405.9052.

Maria asks…

Why do FedEx planes fly so low out of Newark Airport?

I have noticed this before. FedEx planes typically fly a lot lower than passenger airlines – why is this?

Michelle answers:

Fedex aircrafts are all considered as Freighters. Freighter aircrafts are usually very heavy in weight when they are fully loaded. Therefore they have a higher rotation speed of the runway which makes them rotate very late or almost at the end of the runway hence being very low for people who look around.

Laura asks…

How can I make math interesting to students? I am looking for ideas to teach through art.?

I am tutoring math this summer for some very uninterested students. I am trying to use cross-curriculum ideas to make it more interesting. (for example..teaching through art. I have heard of this but have not come across the resources for it.

Michelle answers:

Here are a few ideas. You haven’t mentioned the age group though, so these are very general ideas.

— use numbers & mathematical symbols to make drawings – faces, animals, objects, etc. For higher grades, you can give a limited number of options in the form of equations that have to be solved [only the solution numbers can be used…]

— create a board game using math problems & they can proceed only after correctly solving at each step. This can be a group project for the older kids – they’ll enjoy creating a new game with their own rules, etc.

— make a jigsaw puzzle using problems, multiplication, etc. You can cut the pieces in various geometric shapes. Again, difficulty level & complexity will increase with age.

— for little kids, colouring with numbers, joining numbered dots to complete a picture, flash cards, are also good activities.

— simple sudoku, kakuro & hittori for older students.

— math in daily life [or other ‘art’ forms] — eg. In baking [using measurements & fractions, conversions];
in knitting, crochet, cross-stitch — counting, converting, altering to msts;
in fashion designing – body & fabric msts, etc.;
the body proportions in classical art/drawing/sculpting;
in quilting – the various geometric patterns used to make blocks, etc.
In poetry & music – the meter, verse, octets, octaves, etc.
In architecture, 3D crafts, etc.

— make craft pizza & cut into slices to teach about proportions/fractions.

— ask them to look at their satchel. Count how many pieces of fabric have been sewn together. What geometric shapes have been used….

Here are a few sites that may be of help :

Your Questions About Fafsa

James asks…

A question about how to confirm FAFSA and university applications by forms sent to a scholarship committee?

A scholarship from the university I am applying for asks for a “confirmation letter” for acceptance into that university. It also asks for confirmation of my FAFSA application. What specific forms should I give them? Or does it matter? I dont feel I need to ask them. Could the university part be the actual letter of acceptance that I have yet to recieve – or could it be the letter stating my application was only recieved for review?

Michelle answers:

I think the first part of your answer is self-evident – you won’t be considered for a scholarship at this university until you have actually been accepted for admission. The “confirmation letter” is your “full” admissions letter (as opposed to a wait list or a conditional admission).

Confirmation of your FAFSA application can be provided by submitting a photocopy of the SAR report you received from the Department of Education – the form that notified you of your calculated EFC score.

Once you have you admissions letter in hand – get those scholarship forms in quickly.

Best wishes to you – I hope you get the admission and the scholarship!

Mandy asks…

How much money can I get from fafsa?

I’m turning 24 this month and I’m going to apply for fafsa again. I applied a few years ago but according to fafsa my parents made too much money for me to get anything, which is bs they aren’t paying for my school now could they. Last year I made $17,000 working retail, I work full time but want to start school in the fall and drop to part time of I can get enough aid. Based on what my income is how much money can I get for school? I really want to go back but I don’t want to have to deal with loans.

Michelle answers:

Let me explain a few things for you. When you originally applied for financial aid, they looked at your parent’s income. Their income was in the equation for eligibility for financial aid, even if they were not paying for your education. The only way you were to get it, was to become emancipated from them, as in moving out, and being on your own for at least a year.

Now, for the current situation you are in, you will get enough for tuition, and books and some living expenses. How much? That depends on what school you apply to, and get accepted.

Also, FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is a LOAN, not a GRANT. You want GRANTS, try for a PELL GRANT.

Mary asks…

How do I contest the results of a FAFSA?

I qualified for the tuition waiver but need money for books. The FAFSA goes off of how much money you make but does not consider the fact that I have HUGE bills – including a student loan from a trade school. How do you contest the results of the FAFSA and get more money (not loans) for books and housing?

Michelle answers:

There is no place on the fafsa to include expenses because the formula doesn’t take expenses into account, just income, assets, enrollment status, number in school, how expensive the school is, number in the family, etc.
You can ask for an adjustment, but I’ve never seen a fin aid office approve one to *suddenly* make you eligible for a grant when you weren’t eligible before. They usually just increase your loan amount eligibility. If you truly are low income, check your fafsa carefully, perhaps your income is incorrect or the number in the household is wrong. Couldn’t hurt.
If you are paying on a student loan, see if your loan company will let you defer it while you are enrolled in school.
Good Luck!

Chris asks…

How much Should I Pay to have someone do my FAFSA?

I am really pressed for time and I want to pay someone to complete my FAFSA form. What is the maximum I should pay for this service?

Anyone else doing this ?

Michelle answers:

The school of your choice will not complete you form for you as one poster told you.
It is not a good idea to have someone do your fafsa because it contain tax info, social security #’s, and addresses.
If the person is dishonest then your in trouble cause they can steal that info and mess up your life.

Your Questions About Forever 21

Paul asks…

Do you think that mainstream hollister wearers will convert and shop at forever 21 when it gets to our mall?

My mall only has aeropstale, hollister and american eagle. soon they will be putting in a forever 21. I am nervous that people will steal my style, do you think hollister wearer’s will switch and shop in forever 21.

Michelle answers:

No, they are really different stores. Though hollister and forever 21 are both cute and trendy the clothes are different. Hollister stuff has a lot of logos and hollister writing on it. Forever 21 is more young and trendy with out trying to be a brand name. Also, the mood of the store is completely different. Hollister is dark with loud music and has more of an abercrombie mood. Forever 21 is lighter and brighter with more popular and sing-songey music playing. American Eagle wearers might wear some forever 21 since the mood of the store is more similar than hollister, but they are the only ones I think might switch.

Richard asks…

Is there a forever 21 men store in the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge?

I have been looking for a forever 21 that sells men’s clothes. I do not want to buy online. I was looking for one anywhere in Louisiana or close by.

Michelle answers:

Doesn’t look good. Http://www.malloflouisiana.com/directory/mens-apparel

Mark asks…

I want to return something from forever 21 that I bought online?

I bought something online that was too small I accidentally click the wrong size. Can I return it to a forever 21 store for store credit or do I have to return it through mail? The paper says that info but it’s a bit confusing. Please help, the skirt was $23 it is not worth keepin in my closet for nothing.

Michelle answers:

First of all, you should check the site if returns are accepted (most of the stores do accept anyway). I think you should return to the address which is given on the site, a contact with the site would be great at first. Since you didnt buy the product in their local store -> they dont have the responsibility for that. I dont know any shops that would accept returns even from their own shop line if the product wasnt bought at that exact one.

Sharon asks…

What size would I be in Forever 21 jeans?

I want to order a pair of Forever 21 skinny jeans online, but I don’t know what size I am. I am a size 4 in A&F and American Eagle, but I’m a 6 or an 8 in Express jeans. I think I would be a 27 or a 28 in Forever 21 jeans, am I way off? What size am I closest to? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Id say you’re pretty close, and doesn’t forever 21 let you ship things back for free? But yeah i have the same problem with express’ clothing, they always seem to run small but forever 21 seems to stay pretty standard.

Your Questions About Fox News

David asks…

Why are so many people taken in by the obvious lies and misinformation spewed by Fox News?

ALL of the serious analyses done by disinterested researchers have concluded that Fox News for the most part presents, at best, a heavily biased and distorted version of current events, and very often outright fabrications and misinformation.

Why are so many presumably intelligent people decieved?
Do a Google. The sources are endless.
Thanks Larry, I am a whiz, aren’t I?

Michelle answers:

They are used to being lied to by the people that they vote for so it keeps them in their comfort zone to told what they want to hear, even if it is allot closer to being fantasy than it is to being truth.

Donna asks…

Is Fox News a fair and balanced organisation, or a right wing conservative mouth piece?

Fox News often comes in for much criticism but is it justified or is it the fair and balanced news organisation it claims to be?

Michelle answers:

The idea that any news organisation is fair and balanced is laughable, so that alone shows just how deceitful and subliminal it is.

Robert asks…

How would you feel if Fox News leaked “State Department” information – would it be a “scoop” or a leak?

Should Fox News then enjoy “freedom of the press” without injury of their “reputation?

Michelle answers:

I’d feel the same way I did when Fox televised a hurried news conference organized by yhe republican members of the senate intelligence committee in Augist of 1998 right after they left Pres Clinto n’s briefing on the impending cruise missile strike on Bin Laden’s camp in Afghanistan. If you recall, Bin Laden thanked them for warning him the missiles were on the way. Their timely warning enabled to Bin Laden to Didi out of there with less than 20 minutes to spare.

Sandra asks…

How many of you that say fox news lies or are unfair have actually watched fox news?

Now, I don’t mean you watched 5 minutes of one show like Hannity. I mean actually watched the regular fox news. If you have watched fox and still believe that they lie or are unfair, can you give me an example? I’m willing to listen to your ideas. Thanks.
Wendy, fox news covered the event as it was happening. The other stations covered it only after it was over. Thanks for trying though.
I’m getting some good answers here.

Michelle answers:

I watch Fox News and Fox Business. I think they’re both pretty honest. Hannity and Beck are a bit over the top. O’ Reilly is pretty even. Chris Wallace is totally professional and it’s an insult to a lot of us that he won’t appear on Fox. MSNBC is just rabid and unwatchable.
