How do I chop food fast and fine?

How do I chop stuff really fast and very fine (like they do on Food Network). My main problems are in very small things like garlic or even onion (not small but I can’t chop onions fast o_O). I also have trouble with sloppy things like tomatoes. But overall I just want to cut all food fast and fine.

So if anyone knows any tips or anything that could help me please post it. Thanks.

For garlic use a small cheese grader.
For an onion take a big sharp knife cut into strips and take the knife over it in a rocking motion and keep doing it.
As for a tomato take a seraded blade like a steak knife and cut it don’t just push down on the knife use a sawing motion.

The trucks take in thousands of dollars each week, per truck. Do the trucks get to keep the money they earned each week? If not, it seems to me that Food Network is getting the trucks themselves to earn most of the prize money during the course of the competition.

I’ve been to the Food Network Channel website & the only thing I can ever find are contests to win tickets-and of course I never win! My 8 year old son loves his show & really wants to go!

I think the only was is to win them, but you could probably buy some on like ebay, or craig’s list. I’d e-mail the food network and see if they ever announce a time to purchase tickets versus just winning. I know sometimes they have shows where he cooks for kids as well, so maybe mention it is your young son who is interested in going, and they’ll give you some info.

When I watch the food channel I smell the food cooking?

Sometimes when I watch tv like the food network and they’re cooking sometimes I get a whiff of the food. Once I was watching Rachel ray’s show and she was cooking something and said “I wish there was smell-o-vision” and I suddenly got a whiff of the food she was cooking. Why does this happen to me? Also if I think about about something I smell it like it’s there with me. Why does this happen?

It is NOT your imagination because as far as your brain is concerned (not your nose) you are smelling what you see. The sense of smell is strong. In some people it is amazingly strong. In the brain, your smell memories are hard wired to the memories of what you saw when you experienced that smell. Any guy can tell you that whenever he smells a certain perfume, he can clearly visualize the girl that used that perfume. It also works in reverse. Your visual memories of those foods are hard wired to the related smells. So your brain ‘”smells” the food you are looking at. If you concentrate a little bit, you can also remember where that was, when and who was with you.

And why is this true? Well the professionals will give you a windbag explanation. All that explanation amounts to is (1) we are just like animals, (2) sight and smell are hardwired together so we find food and (3) we eat and survive.

A while ago I watched a romantic movie where the main female character falls in love with a writer who gets sick and goes somewhere (Italy I think) to try to get better but ends up dying. Does anyone know what this movie is called?

Would the starting pitcher get the loss in this situation?

Suppose a pitcher throws a no-hitter. However, his teammates make an error or two and a runner scores an unearned run, and his team scores no runs, so his team loses 1-0. The starting pitcher goes the entire game. The run is une not credited against him but somebody has to get the loss and he was the only pitcher to pitch in the game.

How many Beatrix Potter Books Are There In A Series?

Are they worth much in fair to good condition?

There are 23 ‘Tales’ in all.

Fair to Good condition in usual 2nd hand book trade parlance is not what is sought after so they won’t be worth much.

Good Condition merely means it is readable with plenty of wear and tear may well have writing (inscriptions) in the front and the condition of the pages will be grubby and there maybe fingerprints or torn pages.

Very Good Condition is where it is a clean copy with bumps and grazes and has obviously been read, and used, the dust wrapper or jacket D/W D/J is generally clean but amy have some scrubbing and slight tears at the corners.

Fine is what most collectors are looking for, there are just the faintest marks or wearing.

Mint is perfect and rarely found unless the book is still in its polythene cover unopened and of course unread. These days most 1sts are not poly-wrapped to start with so this is rarely come across.

Age of course can have a difference, a book from 1902 in fine condition would not be expected to be as pristine as 2002, the pages maybe browned for a start.

Foxing this is where there a brown spotting marks to the pages, it is caused by a virus so exposure to air can be the reason.

Is this enough to go shopping at forever 21?

My friend and I really want to go shopping at Forever 21.
But we both have to save up money. I know it’s cheap, and I talk about it all the time, but I’ve never actually been there, but I go on the website all the time.

So, is $200 enough to actually get a lot of clothes. b/c I really need some new clothes.
And do the clothes last a long time?

Hi Ocean,

Yes $200 is a lot of money and you can buy so many clothes and accessories with it. There is plenty of sale items you can look at, fabulous finds you wouldn’t know about ex: a pair of skinny jeans under $10 bucks. All the forever 21 stores receive brand new shipment everyday except Sunday, so there’s always new clothes out on the floor.=]
About the clothes lasting long, they do last long.. You just have to make sure the piece of clothing doesn’t have any tears or stains etc.and if you dont want something to shrink just hang dry it, but the clothes will definitely last you a couple years =]

How can I deactivate my Facebook without knowing the email or Password I used for the account?

A few months ago I disabled my Facebook account and now I see that when I search my name on Facebook my account is still active. I have forgotten which email and the password for this account. How can i delete it not knowing this information?

Well first.. Of course it will show up when u search! Did u try clciking on it when it showed up..when u click ont it, it should say this user has disable their facebook account or somthing…if thats not working ….it takes like 48 hours to deactivate. Trust me i had to deactivate mine, my mom caught me and told me to delete it! Just dont login to your facebook! It will reactivate if u do that!

How do I email facebook from a different email address regarding a hacked account?

My email was hacked so I made a new one, but my facebook was hacked as well and now it is sending messages to people in real life. The messages are causing a problem and I need the account deleted, but don’t have access to the email address the account was made with. How do I get it deleted?

Michelle answers:

Well, I doubt Facebook will share their log files with you and show you what the IP is that is coming to her page.

If she is still the owner of the original e-mail that was used to create the account or the e-mail prior to the new one, perhaps Facebook will change her e-mail for her or cancel her account altogether.

I also doubt there is any way for the public to see the persons IP when they post on someone else’s wall.

If you can get their IP address from the hotmail, there’s a chance you can contact her ISP and give them the IP and the time the e-mail was sent so they’ll know who had the IP at the time. They probably won’t give you any information since you’re not the cops, but they may take it upon themselves to send a “notice” to the culprit that they’ve received complaints about them. An ISP can kick you off of their network if you’re using it for malicious reasons. How often does that happen….it’s probably pretty rare.

If her password was hacked, I’d almost bet it’s someone who knows her. Did she login to her Facebook from someone else’s computer where her password may have been saved? Or with someone standing behind her where they were watching?

If Facebook won’t cooperate, it would be easier to create a new account with a strong password and then just tell all of her friends to delete the old one from their friends list.

I live in Denton, TX and it only take about 3 hour of driving from bryan to denton, so, does it really take 3-5 days to ship between two location that can be reach in 5 hours?

FEDEX are very reliable – BUT – remember that is working days not calendar days.
This means a weekend is liable to be included i.e. 7 actual days from day shipped.
Also remember it doesn’t mean the day you ordered in the US. It means 5-7 days from the day FEDEX were handed it!

Is it ok to fill out and send in a FAFSA aid form before being accepted to a university?

I’m going to enter a university in the Spring 2010 semester. Is it ok to send in my FAFSA financial aid request before being accepted for the Spring semester? Any help would be apprectiated. Thanks.

Yes, you should file your FAFSA as soon as possible once you have decided you are going back to school. You can include up to 10 schools on your FAFSA, so you may want to consider including a “back up” school(s) as well. This just means that those schools that you list will receive your FAFSA information. If you end up not attending that school after all, there are absolutely no negative consequences to having included them on your FAFSA.

Why is the Fafsa still considering me dependent at age 24?

Everything on the Fafsa websites say that you qualify as an independent if you are at least 24 years old, however, when I go to actually fill the application it asks if I was born before 1988? I was not, so it classifies me as dependent. However I am most certainly 24 years old, what the hell is going on here? Totally screwing me.

You must be using/looking at the FAFSA for the 2011-2012 school year. If you are hoping to be awarded Federal student aid for this current school year, it may be too late – past deadline.

If you wish to be considered for Federal student aid for the next school year (Fall 2012-Spring 2013), then you need to use the 2012-2013 school year FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov ). For that FAFSA, to be considered Independent from including information from your parents (age 24), you need to answer “yes” to the question “Where you born before January 1, 1989?”

Is Job Corps considered transitional living to the FAFSA people?

My cousin is filling out her FAFSA, and she is independent, and currently attends a job corps in Utah. My question is, is Job corps considered a transitional living situation, and if so, what would she need to do to prove that she attends JC, or to tell the Finanacial aide people?

The residence of a Jobs Corps participant, whether at the Jobs Corps living center or elsewhere will be considered a “permanent or long-term residence” and not transitional/temporary.

If, before your cousin started with Job Corps, she lived temporarily in a homeless shelter, a hotel or motel, temporarily stayed with a friend or non-parent relative, etc., and if that situation of a lack of a permanent residence for a while is documented (records from the homeless shelter, hotel/motel room bill, notarized signed and dated statement from the friend or non-parent relative with whom she lived temporarily, etc.) that is what she would need to prove she was in a “transitional living program.”

How many years will fafsa cover for a full time student? Like, is there a certain year per student limit?

I have heard that fafsa only gives aid to full time students for four years. Is this true? And let’s just say there is a student who has been in a community college for 4 years finally was able to trasfer a four year institution. Thus, fafsa only covered the first four years in community college and the rest is up to the student to pay. Is that true? I live in california and I need to know because I don’t want to waste my time taking classes that I don’t need. Thanks!!!

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is used by the Financial Aid office at your university to determine financial aid eligibility. There are several aid programs available including grants, loans, and scholarships.

The basis of federal financial aid is the Pell Grant. The length of time requirement has to do with the length of the student’s program, not necessarily the length of time the student has been in school. The Pell grant is only available to undergraduate students whose program is 4 years in length.

A typical requirement for completion of program is within 150% of published course requirements. For example, if your bachelor’s program is 128 credit hours, you will be eligible for Pell Grant up to 192 credit hours.

You should also be eligible for Student Loans following the above guidelines. The advantage of the Pell grant is that it does not have to paid back, while loans do.

Your courses at the community college should transfer to your four-year college. They may not count towards your degree, depending on your program or they may count as general electives. Developmental/remedial courses generally do not count towards graduation requirements but do form the basis of necessary skills to be successful.

How do I download to a specific folder on Firefox?

I have Vista and Firefox automatically seems to download files to my “Downloads” file, but for some of them I would prefer that they are directly downloaded into My Documents or other areas. Can anybody tell me how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Open Firefox, click on tools at the top of the browser. Then click options. Click the Main tab at the top. Then under the downloads section, next to where it says, save files to Click browse, then go to the place that you would like to save your downloads too. Then click ok and your done.

Firefox 3 is set as my default browser and works with everything except when I click links sent to me in yahoo messenger, or try to read my mail from yahoo messenger..

Firefox is showing a strange font for most web pages on my mac?

Last night on May 4th, my firefox and safari is displaying a very strange font, I don’t know if this is going on for anyone else or not. Please Help!

If both applications have a language issue, maybe it is caused by your having enabled more than one input method at System Preferences > International. Do you have a flag icon in the top menu bar? That means you have more than one input method allowed. The system will switch input methods due to a key combo that you might have accidentally typed.

If it is only a Firefox issue and Safari is fine…

Firefox > Preferences > Content > Fonts and Colors. Change it there (Times size 16 works well for my 22″ screen). If that doesn’t help, go to:
/Users /yourhomefolder /Library /Application Support /Firefox /Profiles /blahblah.default
Delete /localstore.rdf
If that doesn’t help, download a fresh copy of Firefox (could be a setting at about:config, but a frssh copy is easier to handle than editing the about:config).

How do I add a Firefox quicklaunch icon to my taskbar?

Windows 7 Home Premium

There are a few websites that I visit regularly so instead of having to open up Firefox and navigate to the page I would like to add a shortcut to the site on to my taskbar. When I try to create a new shortcut and add it to the taskbar it automatically pins it to my Firefox shortcut. I would like the site shortcut to have its own icon on the taskbar. Any ideas? You have to grab the little picture that’s right next to the link or you can grab the link, whichever you prefer, but the picture is easier. After you grab it you drag it to the area right underneath the task bar and there you go. Or you can just bookmark it by going to the Bookmark tab at the top left hand corner. However, Firefox does have a designated area where you just drag the little icon onto a part of the toolbar and you will have the links there so when you click on them it goes straight to the site.

Go through these notifications settings and adjust what you do and don’t want to receive via email.

I have firefox 3.6 and I am wondering how can I erase all my passwords? I have tried to erase third party cookies and erase cache but nothing is working.

You clear “History”

Tools>Clear History> then click EVERYTHING

How do you make it so firefox never reloads your tabs if your computer restarts?

Whenever my computer restarts without me closing firefox first, firefox always asks me whether I want to load the previous tabs that were up before the restart. I don’t like that for privacy reasons – what if there’s a storm and the power doesn’t come back on until I’m gone? How do I turn it off.

Michelle answers:

Type about:config in your address bar, and hit return.

If you’ve never manually altered your configuration, a warning box will pop up. Click through it.

There will be a bunch of preferences listed. Scroll down to browser.sessionstore.enabled

In the third column, the value should be “true” Double click it to change it to “false”

Restart Firefox.

Now Firefox will not periodically save your session, so that it will be unable to restore your tabs if it crashes, or if you close Firefox when you have multiple tabs open.

If you still want to be able to save your tabs, but don’t want your tabs restored if there is a crash, you could try changing the value of browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash instead of browser.sessionstore.enabled. I have no personal experience with this, but it seems to be pretty straightforward.
