Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

David asks…

I had a natural miscarriage on 5th September at 5 weeks, just done HPT and says i’m 1-2 weeks pregnant!! Help!?

After starting to bleed heavily and losing a large clot at 5 weeks pregnant, i went to the Early Pregnancy unit who scanned me and said i had lost the baby as there was nothing left in my womb. They did a pregnancy test and they said it was negative which confirmed our fears. On Sat 10th Sept, i was intimate with my husband and used no protection. Then last week, i’ve had what i thought was PMS with sore boobs, heavy feeling in my lower stomach and last few days, i’ve felt tired and slightly sick. I’ve had a lot going on in my life so just ignored the symptoms. However, still no period and unsure when to expect it after a miscarriage so tonight i’ve decided to to take a pregnancy test which has said i’m pregnant 1-2 weeks!! If it wasn’t for the hospital telling me it was negative after my miscarriage, i would swear i still had the pregnancy hormone floating around but now i think i might actually be pregnant again. The dates match the indicator on the pregnancy test as well. Any thoughts as i’m confused??? Really want to be pregnant again!!
The test i took is the clear blue conception indicator pregnancy test. It’s been on the market for a year or so. it tells you if you are pregnant or not and if you are it measures the HCG in your urine, it tells you with 92% accurancy, how long it was since you conceived. Look online for Clear Blue pregnancy tests.
Can someone please answer instead of questioning the pregnancy test? Thanks

It sounds to me like you are pregnant again. If the hCG levels were negative after the miscarriage then it wouldn’t have built back up unless you didn’t miscarry and your hCG levels raised again or you became pregnant again.

Tests don’t give false positives so there is obviously some amount of pregnancy hormone in your body again. I suggest to take another test then go to your doctor who will tell you for sure.

After a miscarriage you are very fertile as your body is ready to become pregnant as it already has begun to prepare for pregnancy. Make sure that you’re taking your vitamins whilst ttc as they actually do help to boost fertility too!

As you miscarried early it genuinely indicates there was probably something genetically wrong with the lil one so it shouldn’t mean that anything will prevent you from carrying to term. It may sound harsh but it usually is better for the miscarriage to occur then, rather than a few months down the line. If you are pregnant you have the same chances of having a healthy 9 month pregnancy as before.

I’m really sorry about your loss, I know how hard it is for you! Good luck and I really hope that you get your positive! X x x

EDIT: To the other answerers the test would probably have said 1-2 on it which would be 3-4 weeks I’d imagine (the clearblue brand do that).

Lizzie asks…

Are there any natural ways to bring on your period?

My usual cycle length is about 27-29days, tho I have once come on at day 21 and on day 32-33 so they’re not very regular (this is based on the last 5months- since m/c). We are TTC and atm I am on day 35. I’ve taken about 6 different pregnancy tests over the past 2 weeks (latest one being this morning) and they have all come up negative 🙁
I know that it is possible that I am still testing too early so if I don’t come on in the next week I will test again and make a doctors appointment.
But if I am not pregnant then I would like my period to hurry up so that we can try again next cycle.
I know it’s not very likely but… are there any ways that I can help bring on my period? Ways which will cause no harm to a baby if I am pregnant?
I used to use evening primrose oil to control my period, is it safe to use if I am pregnant?
Thanks

Michelle answers:

The only way I’ve heard to bring on a period (and I know 2 people who are trying this right now) is to take massive doses of vitamin C. I’ve also heard that can be dangerous for your own body and is definitely not a good thing to do if you are pregnant.
The other way is not ‘fast’ at all. You take a medication called provera for 10 days and get your period within 5-15 days after your last pill. I had to do that once on a cycle that went on forever. They don’t recommend taking the medication if you are pregnant, but there is no proof that it hurts a pregnancy… They used to give it to you in order to find out if you are pregnant since if you don’t start your period, it often means you are already pregnant.

What I REALLY recommend is to start charting your BBT on your next cycle. You will then know IF you ovulate and when, and will know if you can possibly be pregnant and when your period is due. My last several cycles have been 27-30 days but this current cycle is on day 41… But I’m not actually late for my period yet because I ovulated late.

You know what to do for this cycle.. Wait a week and if still negative, call the doctor.

Susan asks…

Are these just natural body changes? please help?

Okay my breast have been sore for the last 3 weeks and probley a half. One day my nipple is sore and tender and the rest of my breast is sore but not that sore. Today the sides and bottom of my breast are hurting so bad!. Last week I was cramping really bad but my period suppose to come on today. The other day I was sitting at the table and got really dizzy. I took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. I usually cramped days before I come on, I didnt cramp yesterday or today. What is going on with my body?..
My pregnancy test was “NEGATIVE”..so Im not pregnant

Michelle answers:

All of these symptoms could be related to your normal menstural cycle but they also can be related to pregnancy. Cramping during the first trimester is common due to the stretching of the ligaments. If your period is due to start today then you most likely are just running a little late. Things like stress can delay your period, so don’t worry too much. Also, if your period was supposed to start today and you took a test already it is possible that you have just taken it too soon. If you dont get your period in 3 days take another test. Make sure to take it when you first wake up in the morning so that the test will have an accurate reading:)
Hope this helps.

Michael asks…

Can u stop the natural length of your period if you’re stressed?

I started bleeding on saturday but it wasn’t heavy and i was cramping but i took some advil and it went away the cramps and ever since then i haven’t been cramping that much i had back aches but no cramps. The thing im nervous about is i think i’m pregnant still though because no matter if i’m still bleeding my blood is short like my pad usually is filled with blood and it’s not i have reddish pinkish blood and that scares me well it’s red but not as it usually is. And yes i did have blood cot the first two days but that doesn’t mean anything i could still be pregnant now my back is hurting that’s because im stressed . I usually have my period for seven days maximum i started bleeding saturday and i’m still bleeding today but its light blood . My back is killing me on my lower left side im stressed i wanna take a pregnancy test but i don’t know what kind to get to be more accurate.I”m stressed and yes i know you cant help me but you’ll give me little insight on this situation.

Michelle answers:

Good grief, you sound super stressed. Taking a pregnancy test is very very easy, so just go to the pharmacy and get whatever brand. They are all fairly similar in their accuracy rate, especially if you already think you are past your period. I bought EPT and then compared my results on www.peeonastick.com to confirm that they were positive.

But if you are bleeding as much as you say you are, I sincerely doubt you are pregnant. Still, taking a test is a cheap and easy way to relieve your mind of some stress.
