Your Questions About Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Maria asks…

miscarriage – could i already be pregnant?

I had a miscarriage on 10/16 – passes something on 10/29 finally stopped bleeding afterwards.

My doctor advised us that we could start trying after I stop bleeding and pass everything. (i did this natural) My husband and I have had unprotected sex about 10 times since then.

I have not start my first cycle yet, but… I’m really confused, for the past couple of days I have been feeling queezy! I haven’t thrown up – but, i’m just feeling queezy… Is this my high hopes or could i already be? Since my miscarriage i have been going to the doctor to test my HCG levels and they were going down great, finally got back to normal and i took a pregnancy test just to make sure and it was negative.. I’ve taken one every wednesday just to see!

I have a 6 year old soon, my ex-husband and i got pregnant around thanksgiving time and miscarried in december, then we found out we were pregnant again in january.
I have also had some heartburn and my girls seem to have enlarged more…

Michelle answers:

With my last miscarriage, I passed it naturally as well and was pregnant the very next month, it was kind of like I had not miscarried and I had A scan to check the dates and it was definitely a new pregnancy I was fine and had a healthy baby boy.. Good luck to you

Paul asks…

attempting a VBAC- but time is almost up!?

i’m hoping for a VBAC with this pregnancy. I’ll be 41 weeks on tuesday. I’ve been patient waiting- but now am feeling “under the wire” because if I haven’t gone into labor by Tuesday (feb 13) at my OB appointment- she will schedule a c-section for me at 42 weeks. I want a natural birth so bad! Anyways- i’ve gone weeks without being dilated or having anything more than ‘menstral like cramps’… today at my appointment i was 80% effaced, -2 station and dilated to a 1. My OB said if i was dilated just a pinch more she would have been able to get her finger up far enough to strip my membranes… so hopefully she can on tuesday.. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything I can do to help my body dilate or anything? I’ve been taking red raspberry leaf- going to the chiropractor- dh has the old “afraid of hurting the baby’ thing going- so any sex has pretty much been completely out of the question– anyone offer up any suggestions? or just some encouragement for me??? thanks!
Today i’ve actually had a few “regular” contractions.. so at least something is going on!!! I was never dilating at my appointments- but was effacing about 10% more from week to week.
*** i am prepared mentally to end up with another c-section… but I would much rather at least try the vbac and end up with a c-section- than just go in for a c-section having always wished i had tried for a natural birth! ty for the advice

Michelle answers:

Hi,
Sex during pregnancy is a good thing. For one thing, the contractions apparently seem to soothe the baby. Also, semen contains chemicals called prostaglandins which help to soften the cervix and prepare it for the baby’s delivery. Artificial prostaglandins, in fact, are used sometimes to help ripen a woman’s cervix if she’s in labor but not dilating fast enough. However we see that that is not good for you right now, but there are other ways where your husband can help you without entering. By stimulation you in other ways, you can be able to have an orgasm and this will help out a lot! The girl up top spoke about nipple stimulation, that’s good! He can do that and play with you carefully and make you get an orgasm. I am so sorry and I wish you could give natural birth like you want to instead of a c-section. Just hang in there! But you can also take my foolish advice. (Also you can do a bath massage or let your husband stimulate you in the tub of warm water, with both of you in the tub, so your body can relax while he pleasure you) this could help a lot. .
Well good luck!!

Michelle answers:

Luckily, because you are young, your skin is still very elastic. There are a few things you need to do, however, if you want to firm up. You need to take a look at your diet – I don’t know what you eat now, so I am not saying what you are doing is wrong, but you need to make sure you are getting all your vitamins, and the best way to do that is through food. You need to be eating a variety of fruits and veggies. You also need to get protein – from low fat sources like fish and skinless chicken. You also need to exercise – both cardio (like walking, jogging, swimming) and weight / resistance training. Start with 100 sit ups a day, every day. Increase after a week to 150, then after two weeks to 200. You can start all of this all at once – losing fat and losing weight will essentially come together as a package deal – although you might not notice a difference on the scale at first if you start putting on muscle, but your clothes will feel looser and you belly will look flatter.

Another important thing is to drink LOTS of water – 2 liters a day & CUT OUT SUGAR- sugar bloats you and will pile on the kilos. Sodas (even diet sodas) are bad too.

In addition, keep out of the sun – sun damage can make your skin lose its elasticity and cause very nasty wrinkles.

Good luck!
