Your Questions About Natural Ivf

David asks…

Any one ever try Fertility Blend?

Had an IUI, that failed. My blood work came back BIG FAT NEGATIVE… Wasn’t bummed becuase I knew in my heart I wasn’t pregnant. But I am going to try it all natural for the next few months before I do go into IVF. So I was wondering, has anyone ever tried Fertility Blend? If so do you think it works. Because I purchased some and i read it is ok to take the metformin along with the Fertility blend? Just need some suggestion… Thanks.

Michelle answers:

I took it for 3 cycles for a short luteal phase (hoping that it would lengthen it). Supposedly, it can take 3-6 months to start to see an effect. I didn’t give it the full 6 months (went off it in order to go on prescribed meds), but I did get an addition 1-2 days out of it. Not great, but it was something. I also had some side effects. It made me gassy and bloated, but it cleared up my skin (I’ll take the good with the bad). It also made me a little nauseous the first couple of days, so make sure you take it with food.

I certainly don’t regret the investment, and who knows if it would have worked if I had given it more time. Here’s hoping that it will work for you right away! Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!

Mark asks…

My wife is 45,I am 43.we would like to have a baby .?

we have been trying for three years now & do not want to do the IVF thing, but a natural pregnancy.I have heard that different positions help, like ensuring she “gets off” first, then while I am behind her, i then get off, then place a pillow under her so as to avoid any leaks for 15 minutes. Is this true, does it really help, along with good timing for ovulation? we are both very healthy & have been cleared by our doctors to try & conceive.

Michelle answers:

PLEASE ignore shard(or shad whatever their name is). You definitely still have time to become pregnant. And as for down syndrome, they say that the chances of having a baby with down syndrome increases after age 40 however, 80% of children born with down syndrome are born to women in their early 20’s. If your doctor has cleared you then I say go for it!! There was a woman in my doctor’s office that was 50 and pregnant with her first. It is God that determines what time is right for you to have a child, NOT anyone on here, so don’t listen to the age-a-phobics that say you’re too old. I am 39 and hubby is 48 and we are trying for our first. I will continue to try until God tells me that it’s never going to happen.
As for positions, doggy style is best because it places the sperm closer to the uterus. Also those that tell you to put a pillow under her hips are misinformed. Placing a pillow under her hips causes the sperm to gather at the cervix which makes a longer, harder journey for them to reach the egg. After you ejaculate however you should withdraw immediately and have her lie flat for 10 – 15 minutes. You should start intercourse 1 week after her period ends and then bed every other day for the next 10 days. So, say her period was today 10/17 (and her cycle is 28 days), you should bed every other day from Oct. 25th – Nov. 3rd just to cover the basis incase she ovulates early or late. I hope this helped and please try to ignore some of the ridiculous advice you will receive on here (especially those telling you, just relax it will happen!! Those people kill me.) Good luck and baby dust to you and your wife!!

Helen asks…

High HCG levels?? Happen to anyone else?

Just wondering if this seems weird to anyone else. Last LMP was 9/12,found out I was pregnant 10/13 beta hcg was 1700 they guessed me at being 4-5 weeks,10/15 hcg was 3449 u/s ruled out ectopic and showed a sac but no baby yet doctors said they wanted to monitor me carefully and took blood again 10/17 hcg had risen to 7882. This was a natural pregnancy no IVF,I am only 22 and puzzled and scared by all this.

Michelle answers:

I think your levels are normal, nothing to worry about especially when they are doubling every 48hrs.

My levels were 170,000 at 8wks to the day…..Im now 12 weeks and waiting to find out if im having twins

Susan asks…

your opinion on selectively reducing the number of embryos…?

… in a pregnancy (natural or through ivf) in which the number of embryos is so high as to pose a risk to the mother’s health and/or the health of the other embryos? do you think there is a moral obligation to do it to increase everyone else’s chance of surviving, a moral obligation not to do it because you’re opposed to abortion generally, or no obligation either way?

****please note that this is intended as a general theoretical question and *not* a question about the personal life of the octuplet mom. if you have opinions about her, please save them for someone else’s (or your own) question.
the thumbs down are not from me. it’s a hard issue and it’s not surprising that people come out on different sides of it.

Michelle answers:

That would be very hard to decide. I would have to say that I would want all of my babies to be healthy. You can have as many as 6 and have them all be healthy, but you never know. I would think about reducing the amount down to 2. I respect all the mothers & fathers who have not, they have real strength & hearts made of steal. I don’t think as a person I could handle any more than 3 babies at one time. I might lose my mind & my temper and this would not be good. So I would have to say that I would reduce the amount down to 2

If I had a choice then I wouldn’t want all to be implanted to begin with. This way you don’t have to make this choice.
