Your Questions About Natural Ivf

Mary asks…

Chances of natural conception after failed IVF cycle?

Went through my 1st IVF treatment.. Even tho everything went good, it still failed!
We have been told by the doctors that we can conceive naturally..
Just wondering if any1 has conceived straight away naturally after failed IVF? Thanks x

Michelle answers:

I have not but I do know a few women who have. One friend lost a tube due to an ectopic pregnancy. She tried IVF yet the cycle failed. She conceived the old fashioned way. My cousin with unexplained infertility did IVF and conceived on her second attempt. She got pregnant naturally the following year.

It can happen. I’ve known some women online who conceived the old fashioned way when they thought IVF was their only option. I hope this happens for you!

Ken asks…

How to test for natural killer cells after failed IVF?

Last year I had a failed IVF cycle. Cause was unknown. After doing research I asked my doctor to do immune testing. So he did some blood work and said everything came out fine. My question for those who are educated in this subject is, would this cover testing for a high rate of Natural Killer cells?? I know I should ask the doctor but just wondering if there is a special test. My doc also said that this subject is still under ressearch and there isnt enough evidence that the body will kill the embryo. Well, before undergoing another IVF cycle I would just like to know if my immune testing blood work covered checking my NK cell count. Thanks for those who know what I am talking about!
the blood work shows they tested:

ANA ANTIBODIES

LUPUS ANTICOAG PFL

Michelle answers:

I am not sure what tests you took but I took a recurrent pregnancy loss blood panel. Though you may have not had losses, the RPL panel may find reasons why your IVF cycle failed or reasons for your infertility. My RPL panel included the two tests you lists as well as Anti-cardiolipin antibodies (ACA), homocysteine level, MTHFR, prothrombin gene mutation, and factor v leiden.

My doctor, as many are, felt as yours does about immune testing. Many doctors do not see the value in it. Funny, but mine changed his mind when he found he had MTHFR.

I tested positive for MTHFR and ACA. Demand the MTHFR test and do have your homocystein levels checked as well. Make sure you fast for these test. Because of my immune issues, I will be on prescription folic acid and low dose aspirin the rest of my life and a blood thinner if I am to conceive. Often, a low dose aspirin is the remedy for immune issues.

Here is a comprehensive list of testing you can get. Http://www.pinelandpress.com/faq/miscarriage/rpl.html Oh, and if you have a Labcorp in your area they will do the RPL panel for about $350.

Much luck!

22, single, on the dole, wanting to go thru ivf?

Michelle answers:

If you don’t like being touched (or have a phobia) then how do you expect to have a child? A child is naturally going to want and need cuddles, time, love and affection from you. IVF is a very long and invasive process … If you have a phobia of being touched then there is no way that is suitable for you. The only thing I can think of is if you find a sperm donor and artifically inseminate yourself but there are still no guarantees it will work.
