Susan asks…

What is a natural supplement over the counter and safe to take during pregnancy to stay relaxed?

I am starting my 2nd process of IVF and this is the frozen cycle and I want to stay relaxed as possible. Just needing some ideas.

Michelle answers:

I know just what you are going through! I am about to do a frozen cycle too and doing everything I can to stay calm!

Bach Rescue Remedy is great for stress and will help you stay relaxed! It is safe during pregnancy as well. You can find it at a GMC store and many drugs stores carry it. It comes in a spray or drops. Also, I find red raspberry leaf tea to be relaxing. It is safe as well.

I highly recommend acupuncture. Doing acupuncture in conjunction increase your odds. Plus you can take herbs that will help you stay calm. I know from experience! My acupuncturist also gave me herbs to relax my uterus for transfer.

I do a few other things to keep me relaxed as well. I stock up on lavender soap, lotion, body wash, candles, and got some room mist. I find that scent really relaxing but you may have another your prefer.

Check out Anjionline.com http://www.anjionline.com/index.php It is a site just for fertility and she’s got some great meditation CD’s specifically for IVF.

Another thing you can do to keep you relaxed during transfer is to ask for some valium. It is safe and lots of women take it for transfer.

Sticky vibes!

Charles asks…

If a fertile couple undergo IVF, are they more likely to miscarry than if conception was natural?

Or is the low success rate of IVF down to the fact that the people who usually undertake it have fertility problems?

Michelle answers:

If a fertile couple does IVF the success rates are the same for those with infertility going through IVF depending on the diagnosis. A fertile couple has about a 50% chance of success with IVF where a infertile couple with no major issues has about a 50% chance of success. Many couples who undergo IVF are diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” They may have tried unsuccessfully to conceive without help even though they have no issues. These couples get pregnant just as often as those who are fertile. If there is severe male factor infertility, PCOS, hormonal imbalances like high FSH, advanced maternal age, or other major issues, than the infertile couples chance is not the same and they have a slightly higher rate of miscarriage.

Jenny asks…

How did you get pregnant? Natural? Clomid? IUI? IVF? How long did it take you?

My husband and I have been ttc for one year and 11 months. We have our first iui tomorrow morning. I hope we get pregnant!!!

Michelle answers:

Pre-Seed Lubricant!! We tried for 8 months, then heard about Pre-Seed. First month, nothing. Second month… Well, it’s a baby! Look it up. I HIGHLY recommend it!! Good Luck!!
