Does anyone know if taking Prometrium in early pregnancy is Ok if also still Breastfeeding?
I required Prometrium (progesterone) until 14 weeks pregnant with our first child conceived through IVF, and now (surpize!) am 8 wks pregnant with #2 (naturally)
Is it OK to take my Prometrium to maintain this pregnancy as I am still Breastfeeding- is it safe for the breastmilk and my older baby? He Breastfeeds 3x a day, although I think my milk supply has decreased alot since becoming pregnant. I heard you body’s natural progesterone is decreased through breastfeeding so I don;t want to lose this baby. I am taking 300 mg Prometrium daily (3 tabs, 1 every 8 hrs) vaginally (instead of 600mg last pregnancy).
Michelle answers:
I would switch to formula. Breastfeeding naturally causes the uterus to contract and causes your body to release hormones that naturally cause the contractions in the uterus.
In the old days when doctors wanted to do a trial of labor like the modern day Oxytocin Stress Tests, they did nipple stimulation which would stimulate contractions.
Also, nipple stimulation is used in women that have just had their baby and are bleeding heavily because it releases the bodies natural hormones that will stimulate the uterus to contract and slow the bleeding.
Talk to your doctor. If you had problems maintaining your last pregnancy, I would definitely stop breastfeeding and go to formula.

Chris asks…
How many women feel unexcited and unhappy about there current pregnancy?
It is natural to feel guilty that you’re unhappy about it? I just had a baby in September, I currently have 2 boys and I want atleast 2 more children but I was hoping my youngest would be atleast 6 to 12 mos old before my husband knocked me up again. (we even used condoms to prevent pregnancy) I have mixed feelings (happy to have a new baby and unhappy at the same time) But I actually feel really guilty for having these mixed emotions. urrgh anyone else out there feeling the same way?
Amanda: it will work out that’s how I was with my first baby. Hang in there girl.
But getting back to the question, I don’t know why I feel unhappy it’s like everything is great I have a nice home 2 nice kids, I even have wonderful pets and good health insurance, I also feel selfish for not wanting to new baby right now.
Michelle answers:
As a Bunny I would be completely excited to be prego but Your are not a bunny, believe it or not most human females feel the same way you do, don’t worry it’s natural for humans to reject change and what is more life changing then a new baby even if you already have a few.

Please Answer any experiences trying to conceive after a miscarriage?
I am 22 yrs old and I had a child at the age of 18 that pregnancy went perfect. My boyfriend have been trying for a second child. For 3 years I was on the depo shot and stopped it in Aug 06 and went on birthcontrol pills in Aug and September 06. I didn’t get a period for 5 months and then I got 3 regular periods from March, April and May 2007. I found out I was pregnant in June 2007 but sadly it ended in a natural miscarriage on July 15th 2007 at 4-7 weeks along. I just got my first cycle back after the miscarriage which is exactly 2 months I got it on September 16th. So I would like to know your opinions on if we should try this cycle or wait. I have talked to 2 doctors and both have said I can try after my first cycle or wait. But I would really like your experiences with this or opinions. I very much appreciate all your stories and adivce. Thank you
Michelle answers:
I am so sorry for your loss. I had a natural miscarriage on June 27th, it took until July 18th to complete and for my hormones to return to normal. My doc said that because I did not need a D & C that it was safe to start trying again following my first period after the miscarriage. She also told me that trying again so soon will not increase my chances of having another miscarriage. Anyway, AF came Sept 4th and I am happily TTC again. Wishing you luck and good health!

Betty asks…
Natural birth after c-section (VBAC)?
Hi people. I have a 15 month old baby and am currently 2 months (9-10 weeks) pregnant. So basically I got pregnant when my daughter was 13 months? She was born by emergency c-section due to her heart rate dropping and me not being able to push hard enough…she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck!! Poor baby. My c-section scar healed really good, I saw other girls after their c-section and they couldn’t even walk straight and showed a lot pain.. point is I was back to my normal self in no time and I didn’t even take pain meds after my c-section. I really want to try for a natural birth with baby number 2! Has any one out there had a successful VBAC, if so how long did you wait in between pregnancy‘s. How can you I know if I am a good candidate?
Michelle answers:
Talk with your doctor about it. I am pregnant with my second ( my daughter is 2 and half) and also had a c section with my first. Ha same reasons actually. I healed quickly and wanted to have this one natural but my problem is in my area where I live most doctors won’t do it. They are weary about the scar bursting no matter how well you healed. So unfortunately I have to have another c section ( hey at least i get to pick the birthday right?..lol) Talk with your doctor..if they can’t do it or won’t ask if they could refer you to some who can.
