Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Remedies

Joseph asks…

PUPPP’s have you had it, what helped relieve it?

Okay so I have all the classic signs of the begining of PUPPP, it is slowly driving me crazy!! My doctor told me to use Hydrocortizone, which I immediately went to the store and bought after my appointment, it isn’t helping with the itching and the redness has gone away a little but I have more of the bumps now.. so frustrated!! Please help.. I am open to natural remedies also as long as they are safe during pregnancy!

Michelle answers:

I had PUPPPS when pregnant with my twins and to be perfectly honest, nothing worked all that well . . . True relief occurs about 10 – 14 days after you have the baby and the rash goes away.

If you ask your doctor, they can prescribe something stronger than over-the-counter hydrocorizone cream.

Taking a warm / cool bath with Aveeno oatmeal bath helps a bit, I found a cool damp towel over my abdomen, the worst of the rash to also help if I was just hanging out on the couch or in bed.

Congrats and best wishes!

Lisa asks…

Has anyone taken Vitex Chasteberry and after 4 months or less, it stopped working to regulate your cycle?

I did not have a regular cycle for much of 2006. I saw 2 gynecologists and they both tried to put me on progesterone that did not work. I am older and want to have a baby, so they were not interested in helping me. I did some personal research and I feel God led me to an herb called Vitex Chasteberry. I had regular cycles with ovulation since September. I am trying to get pregnant. I had no cycle on Jan. 1st and had very sore nipples for 2 or 3 days. No period yet, but when I did a pregnancy test yesterday, it came back negative. I’m going to try again tomorrow. I will be so disappointed if the Vitex stopped working for me. I pray that I’m pregnant, but if not, I would like some more input on natural fertility remedies and feedback from Vitex Chasteberry users that experienced something similar to myself. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Michelle answers:

I suffered from irregular periods as well and I started taking Vitex in November. Since then, I have been getting my period every month. I am glad because my cycles were every 45-50 days which was hard for me to pin point when or if I ovulated. Hopefully, I become pregnant soon for I am in my early 30’s. I hope that you are pregnant and if you are not, keep praying and keep trying. I also drink red raspberry leaf tea (herbal). I read that drinking red raspberry tea will strengthen your uterus.

Laura asks…

bad heart burn/acid reflux at 10 weeks pregnant?

everyone has been telling me that heart burn usually occurs later on in pregnancy.. how come i’m getting it so early? does anyone know of any natural remedies that can help? I don’t drink any acid (coke etc). I only drink water/juice/milk if that helps.
great.. thanks for all the help!
can someone please explain to me what tums are and if they’re available in australia?

Michelle answers:

You have to remember ‘everyone’ meaning a group of women told you their experience. Which I am beginning to learn that women have a variety of experiences while pregnant.

Such as, I myself also fall to acid indigestion frequently and I’m 8 wks. Milk kinda helps me but I swear just the slowed digestion is a big to do with it. I coat my tummy with ginger snaps and milk. And on a bad day in the end I cave and take tums. Works after 2.

Your digestion is slowed to allow for maximum absorption of nutrients for baby. My doc gave me a list of pre approved medications in fact I’ll give you the whole list. But of course feel free to check with doc and they are:

Heartburn: Maalox, Tums (work for me), and over the counter anatacids.

Constipation: Surfak and Colace. Colace is pricy. I found the grocery brand with the exact same active ingredients works and it was 1/2 the cost.

Diarreah; Pepto, Kaopectate, imodium (though most women agree just to stay hydrated as 1 pill can make you sooo constipated again you’ll wish you hadn’t.)

Colds: Dimetapp, acifed, sudafed

Cough: Cepacol and Robitussin

Headache: NO ASPRIN. Tylenol is only one. Warm towel, cool towel over eyes, or neck massage helps.
