With a Cerclage put in place does it hurt to go into natural labor?
Hi there I am a bit over 34 weeks into my pregnancy. My older children where all delivered around 33-34 weeks, and had to stay 1-2weeks in the NICU. I usualy go into preterm labor around 20-24 weeks. So I am extatic that this one will finaly get to come home after delivery. I still have to have a c-section cause with my last he was breech and a Er c-section was preformed. The Cerclage was put in place this time, and I had it done around 18 weeks.. I have a incompitent cervix and this will be my last pregnancy, since I have had on c-section previously. I am wondering IF I start contracting before my scheduled Surgery date will it Realy hurt down there where the cervix is? I have heard that it hurts like Heck. I AM SO SCARED. Please be honest.
Thank you.
Michelle answers:
It is imperativ that you go to labor and delivery immediately with any regular contractions. Your cervix can be torn if you do not. THAT is what can be painful. The cerclage shoudl be removed by your 37th week though so chances are slim of any dialtion going on that you are not aware of.

Donna asks…
5 positive tests 5 weeks after an early (Natural) miscarriage…?
I had a natural miscarriage (no d&c required) about 5 weeks ago tomorrow (Wednesday). and I still havent had a period. I took a hpt about a week and a half ago, and at it was negative, and then a few days later I took another one and it was a faint positive. I took three yesterday and they all turned out Clear Dark Positives. And also took another one today that is a dark positive. I figured that since I have all the symptoms again and that since the first one I took was negative and that every test since then has been positive and getting darker results that this is cause of a new pregnancy and not just old hormones from the miscarriage 5 weeks ago. I have read that your HCG levels go down within days… a week at most. and for me to have darker results each day, wouldnt that mean my HCG levels are going up, and that I may infact be pregnant again already!! Me and my husband are excited, but I dont have a doctors apt. till December 5th. So please if you relate to my story, even remotely close, or have gotten pregnant this soon after a m/c and had a successful pregnancy, please leave me stuff…. I am trying to stay positive, I really feel like I am pregnant again and that this one will be successful. Thank you!

How exciting! I had a natural miscarriage at six weeks pregnant. It was a little over 4 weeks ago and I’m still waiting for AF to come. I took a hpt last Monday, Nov. 3 and it was negative but since then I have had very, very light spotting and a little brown blood so I hope it’s implantation because it only lasted a few hours. I have also started having pregnancy symptoms, which I never had with my last pregnancy. My bbs have been very sore, runny nose, hungry most of the day, bleeding gums when I brush my teeth, elevated temp since last week, somewhat nauseous, and lots of cm. I am hoping to get a BFP. I am really trying to wait until the weekend to test. I know that when I take another test if it is positive, it won’t be left over hormones from the miscarriage.
It sounds like you are pregnant again. I hope the same is true for me. Good luck this time and please wish it for me also. If you would like someone to talk to, please email me.

Betty asks…
Would you recommend natural or epidural?
I am 15. I know I know I’m a terrible person being pregnant and young.. Blah.. blah..blah..blah.. I’m not here to be trash talked. I want to know mothers feelings on natural birth or a birth with a epidural. I know all the risks about an epidural. But I just want to have the experience of a natural birth but I feel at my age I should get a epidural. I know If I was older I would want a home
pregnancy but I’m not and I want everything to go well just in case. But could someone tell me how they felt when they had there natural birth. I know everyone’s different. But I am making a birth plan and I want to know my options. And I don’t trust asking my mid wife because they will just say I should have natural because it’s safer for the baby and try to lead me on. I want to know the straight truth about natural birth and the good and bad. And I was wondering if size matters in this situation? Because being 15 I am small, and I was wondering if that could complicate or make labor and birth and bad experience for me. Feel free to tell me about your birth even if it was with a epidural! 🙂 thanks ladies!
Oh and I am 31 weeks with a baby girl!:)

I was 16 when I had my oldest son. I was 110 pounds before pregnancy and was in labor for almost 30 hours. My son was almost 8 pounds. I pushed for 45 minutes and did not have an epidural. I have given birth 4 times naturally without pain medication. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t have a beautiful birthing experience without an epidural. It is what i chose to do every time and have no regrets at all. I didn’t put myself or my baby at even the smallest risk and have no lasting side effects. My sister and sister in law both have back pain they did not have before their epidurals. I won’t lie, natural childbirth is painful. But it is nothing that can not be endured. I mean if it were that horrendous, women wouldn’t choose to have more than one baby. And they did it for all those years before epidurals were even thought about. I 100% recommend natural childbirth.
FYI: I never chose natural childbirth to “prove” anything. It was not about that at all. First of all, epidurals DO carry risks and the DO sometimes have side effects. Those are not risks that I was willing to take. Not having an epidural reduces your chances of tearing (which I never did)

And in 4 natural childbirths, not one of them are a blur. I remember everything crystal clear and felt GREAT afterward. I was always up taking a shower a few hours after giving birth. Do I think I am superwoman because I had natural childbirth and women that do get them are weak..nope. But natural was the best choice for me and I know from experience that you can have a wonderful birthing experience even when you don’t choose the epidural.

Ken asks…
should i be scared of labour?
i had a difficult pregnancy at 17 yr old, all i wanted was a natural birth but went into early labour at 7 1/2 month the reason why is unknown, my wters broke an then had cotractions for the next 11hrs, in the end she was delivered by emergency section, im now 19yrs and 16wk pregnant and terrified about going into labour its giving me nightmares, its ruining my pregnancy, will i have nother bad experience?
Michelle answers:
Just look at it this way: You are an experienced mommy now. You have the distinct advantage of knowing what to expect and , therefore, how to prepare. Your body has also been through labor and delivery, even if not the way you dreamed it would be. No pregnancy is the same but you have already had a hard labor and can use that to find ways to make it better. There is nothing saying that you will have the same experience.
Good luck, dear!
