Carol asks…
HP and FedEx clearance delays.?
Hello.
I saw on FedEx‘s tracking site yesterday that I hit a “Clearance Delay” in Anchorage, Alaska. Today I called FedEx, asking for them to look into it, they said that HP did not send the packages (She clarified that there were seven others) with the customs documents. She said that HP has been contacted with this, but didn’t say whether or not HP sent in the documents yet. But if they do receive it today, it is possible it will clear today before the afternoon flight takes off from Anchorage and I will receive my package on time. (Tomorrow, Thursday Oct. 29th.)
So next, I called HP. They said that they turned in the paper work earlier today and after the paper work is received it will be back in movement within 24 hours. Now my question can only really be answered by a Fed-Ex employee or people with past experiences.
Anyways, what I am asking is; could HP have not been accurate and didn’t send the paperwork earlier today? Or after the paperwork is sent in, it really does clear within 24 hours.
Thank you.
No, mine has not cleared yet. I will let you know if it does, especially tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!

We are each calling FedEx and matching numbers. To the person who said it better be delivered before Nov. It won’t be. Earliest will be Monday. I am so mad.
Michelle answers:
FedEx’s system works pretty well. But when something like this happens it could take a little while for all the data to match up. So both could be telling the truth. Since HP is who made the mistake in the first place I would have to side with FedEx until HP proved them wrong.

FedEx Smartpost tracking help?
I ordered a package on Wednesday and it shipped Thursday. My estimated delivery date that they gave me was March 7th, but over the past few days it has been changing from the 7th to the 6th back and forth and yesterday it even said the 5th (today), but now it’s back to the 7th.

Shipment information sent to FedEx
As of this morning, it says that it’s in transit to my city but that was around 5:30, and Kansas City, Kansas is only about 20 minutes away from Raytown, Missouri. Does tracking information not update when a package arrives the post office? Or is it really just not there yet? I’m not really trusting FedEx‘s tracking right now because of what they’ve done with my delivery date over the past few days.
What I’m wondering is, based on the travel history, when do you think I should be getting my package?
Michelle answers:
In my opinion, I think that you should go with expecting on the 7th.
The tracking info you posted does seem a little sketchy … But at least they haven’t lost your parcel.
The ‘SmartPost’ thing is also a bit sketchy. Once FedEx hands your parcel over to USPS, your delivery status will change to ‘Delivered’, because as far as FedEx is concerned, it is delivered … To your local USPS post office. You will not receive any tracking number from USPS at this point. I hope that USPS in your area has a good reputation.
That may have sounded ‘gloom and doom’, but here in downtown Seattle, I have always received my FedEx ‘SmartPost’ parcels on time. I just don’t like the no tracking part once FedEx hands over the parcel to USPS. Your screen will say ‘Delivered’. And yes, it was. It was delivered to your local USPS office, not to you. And then you wonder …. 😉
Don’t worry. All will be well. 🙂
Laura asks…
Fedex, “Departed FedEx loaction?”?
I ordered a package from Fedex a about a week ago. I live in Chicago and it’s currently in California. On Wednesday the status was, “Departed Fedex Location,” and now it’s friday and it still says that.
Michelle answers:
You didn’t order anything from FedEx.
FedEx doesn’t sell things.
If it is going regular ground delivery – then it departed the FedEx facility and is in a truck somewhere.
When it gets to the next location – the status will update.
Helen asks…
FedEx Shipping (My iPhone 5)?
I just had a simple question. I ordered an iPhone 5 through my local Verizon Store and I got an email stating that it would be delivered on October 1st. I went onto the FedEx tracking system and it now says that (on Saturday) that it will still be delivered on Monday even though it is at a local facility. So my question is, did Apple ship with Saturday shipping in mind, and if so, is it possible that FedEx can deliver it today instead of Monday?
Michelle answers:
Companies have to pay *extra* for Saturday Delivery (it is an extra charge).
Cell phone companies do *not* do this except under **very** unusual circumstances.
As far as they are concerned, you can get your package when you get it – there is no need for them to send it any faster or to make it any more convenient for you.
If this is being delivered by Fedex Express (check the tracking number…), then they will be coming out Monday. If it is Fedex Ground, it *should* come out Monday. If it is Fedex Home Delivery, it won’t come out until at least Tue.
If its Fedex Smartpost, it will be turned over to your Post Office, and your mailman will deliver it – possibly Mon, possibly as late as Fri.
Check the tracking on the Fedex website.
