Your Questions About Food Network

Steven asks…

What cheese goes well with steak?

I often see the Food Network chefs topping their steaks with bleu cheese or gorgonzola sauce…I don’t either, but I like the idea. What other cheeses would someone recommend? Does feta work?
**I don’t like either**
Sorry about the typo.

Michelle answers:

Feta is alright but depending on how you make the steak a nice brie would be good. Or any crumbly or smooth cheese is good.

Mark asks…

What is the proper way to pronounce “crêpe?”?

I’m watching Food Network, and I’ve heard the various chefs say it three different ways. Either like “crayp” or like “crehp” or almost like “crap” but not quite. Heh. What is the real correct way to pronounce this word? Thank you!

Michelle answers:

Wikipedia says: English pronunciation: /?kre?p/, French: [k??p]; Breton: krampouezhenn

M-W.com says it’s like “crayp” (rhymes with “drape”)

You can listen to it on the m-w.com site as an audio clip: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/crepe

David asks…

Where can I find a copycat recipe for Pillsbury canned buttermilk biscuits?

I need a recipe for biscuits that are similar to the canned buttermilk biscuits you buy at the store. I seem to remember this being a topic on a show on the Food Network, but I cannot find it on their website.

Michelle answers:

Try Kopycat.com. They mostly have recipes from restauraunts, but you could see if they have one for biscuits.
