Laura asks…
Is it possible to have shipments sent to UPS or FedEx locations instead of your home?
To make a long story short, I find it to be more convenient to pick up packages myself rather than hoping that they will actually get to my home only to end up at a local UPS or Fedex facility anyway.
So can you have shipments sent to your local UPS facilities instead? Do you have to let them know? And is there a fee for having them sent there as opposed to your own home?
Michelle answers:
There’s two options here:
1) You can request a hold at the distribution hub, just call the main 800 numbers of whichever company your using. There is no fee for this.
2) You can have the packages received at a UPS Store. (Most stores offer this service, call to verify with that particular store before having the package shipped though.) There will be a fee for this, probably between $2 and $5 per package. This is not the same as a ‘hold for pickup’ at a hub in that you cannot decide to reroute the package to a UPS Store mid-shipment. You would need to give the sender the UPS Store’s address, care of your name.
Make sure you bring a photo ID with you upon picking up your package with either option.
Ruth asks…
Is it legitimate to send a lot of merchandises overseas via Fedex or DHL?
I wanna send some stuff to my cousin in Brazil so he can sell it over there with much higher price, I am gonna ship it via Fedex or any other carrier so we don’t have to pay tax .
Is it illegal and if it is, would it be on my side or on his side?
Thanks guys.
Michelle answers:
You/he would be engaged in the import/export business which is governed by specific regulations in both countries. It would be illegal to sidestep the laws.
Linda asks…
why is fedex taking so long to get from burlington to stanwood washington?
Ok so according to fedex tracking the package was “On FedEx vehicle for delivery” at 7:36 in the morning, it is now 1:28 in the afternoon, i know the bridge is down but it shouldn’t take 6 hours.
Michelle answers:
FedEx delivers from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. If tracking says “Out for Delivery” you’ll get your package sometime during those hours. Often for home deliveries they assume you work, and will come later in the day.
