Your Questions About Firefox

Helen asks…

What is the difference between firefox 4 and 5?

Ok so i noticed a couple of days ago, firefox had an update from version 4 to 5, and i was just wondering “whats the difference?”. I haven’t noticed any speed or performance improvements.

Michelle answers:

Although, Firefox 4 introduced lots of impressive features over its earlier release, Firefox 5 only adds minor improvements and few new UI features. Two such notable features are the “Do Not Track” button and channel switcher in Firefox 5. It is estimated that Firefox 5 provides improved memory, JavaScript, canvas and networking performance compared to Firefox 4. Firefox 5 includes improved spell checking for more locales than Firefox 4. Mozilla claims that Firefox 5 provides dramatic performance improvement for its Linux users. Furthermore, they say Firefox 5 has better support for HTML5, XHR, MIL and Math ML.

Michael asks…

Mozilla Firefox won’t open and i posted in the Firefox forums, to no avail. Any suggestions?

I can’t even open firefox because the crash report comes up and prevents it from opening. If i could just get my bookmarks from firefox i would happily switch to google chrome or Opera.
Update: I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled firefox and the crash report still comes up. I’m at my wits end, any other suggestions?

Michelle answers:

Uninstall Firefox.
=
Download Firefox && do a clean installation.
– Bookmarks may be there, or may be the cause of the program problem.

How to set favorite websites when you start firefox?

I’m not really sure what I’m searching for so basically How do i set favorite websites when you start firefox? My friend does it and it shows Facebook, Youtube,Gmail, Ect. It shows the ones he visits a ton so he can just click on them. I DO NOT want to use Igoogle, I hate the thing. Thank you!

Michelle answers:

Right click on firefox icon
go to properties
you should see a textbox that says “target”
inside the target box should be the path to firefox
after that path and after parenthesis, press space bar
now paste in the the first website you want to load
hit space
now paste in the the second website you want to load
etc..

So it should look something like:
“C:Program FilesMozillaFirefox.exe” www.google.com www.facebook.com gmail.com
