Your Questions About Firefox

Robert asks…

How do I pin a url to my firefox menu in the Windows 7 taskbar?

I have firefox 3.6.17 pinned to my taskbar and there are few urls pinned that I reference frequently. However I cannot figure out how to get another url pinned there.

Sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology. And thank you!

Michelle answers:

You mean having a couple things like firefox or yahoo messenger’s icon on your taskbar as a little shortcut to the program? If so, you might have run out of possible space for icon shortcuts. Most taskbars only allow 6 to 8 shortcuts, more or less. If this is how you’re doing it:

Go to Start => Settings => Control Panel => Taskbar and Start Menu.
Make sure the Lock the taskbar is NOT checked.
Then check the box marked Quick Launch.
Then click OK.
Your Taskbar is now ready to accept new shortcuts.
Your window should look like the window above.
When you let go of the mouse, the chosen shortcut will appear on your desktop. For example,
To move that shortcut onto your Taskbar, click and drag the shortcut onto the Taskbar.
You may have several shortcuts on your Taskbar. If it appears there is not enough room, simply click and drag to the right the bar that is to the right of the existing shortcuts.
To add a shortcut to your Taskbar, go to Start> Toolkit> MSWord (or any other program desired).

So if that’s how you’re doing it, it should work, unless you have exceeded your shortcut limit. Hope I helped!

Daniel asks…

How can I have multiple tabs showing simultaneously in Firefox?

Is there a way to have firefox split the page in half showing 2 tabs so i can view them side by side?

Michelle answers:

Yes. There is a Firefox add-on named, “Split Browser” that will do this.

A brief demonstration of it is shown in the video that is attached to the following article:

Chris asks…

What is a good firefox addon for a bookmark panel?

I’m looking for a firefox add on that has a panel similar to Internet Explorer (with history and favorites). I don’t need a whole bunch of extra stuff, just a panel on the side with these links.
Thanks!

Michelle answers:

I couldn’t find a Firefox Addon which created a bookmarks panel. There’s one that emulates Opera but not IE.

Richard asks…

How can I change Firefox’s default resolution without changing my desktops?

I just installed Windows 7 and, of course, Firefox. I decided to use a higher resolution, but this is kind of a pain in Firefox – just about every web page has blank bars on the side and the text is fairly small. I know I can change font size, but is there any way I can stop Firefox from using my resolution?
