Your Questions About Fedex

David asks…

what is the procedure to buy laptop from usa to bangladesh by fedex?

I would like buy hp laptop from USA (amazon.com) to Bangladesh. I want this package to be forwarded by Fedex. Now, do i need to pay any import duty or custom duty or any other fees? And, is there any better option available other than Fedex for forwarding the package.
I have no plan on buying laptop by my relatives staying abroad.

Michelle answers:

I would suggest you send the Laptop by DHL or “Air Parcel Post”. FedEx is not very efficient and user friendly in our part of the world. DHL is synonym for international courier in Bangladesh. I have found the following frequently asked Questions & Answers relating to Customs duty and other taxes where you can see that Laptop doesn’t entail any Customs Duty. However, other taxes and fees are to be paid when the package is opened and evaluated by Customs officials.

Question: “I am a Bangladeshi citizen living in the united states. I want to send one laptop to one of my poor relatives living in Bangladesh by mail for his educational purpose. That poor relatives does not have any ability to pay customs duty and other taxes to receive that laptop computer. My questions are:

1. What is the customs duty rate and other tax rate will be for the laptop if I send that by mail?

2. Is there any way I can prepay all the duty and taxes while mailing that laptop so that my poor relative does not go through any hassle? If yes, can you please let me know the process of advance paying?” Un-quote

Answer: “1. You can send a laptop to your relative in Bangladesh. If you send it by any passenger using Baggage benefit, there will be no Customs duty and any other taxes.

2. If you send it by courier, it may take some charges depending on its price, weight etc.

3. Laptop is a duty free item at this moment.

4. There is no provision of advance payment. Better, you can send some money to your relative to pay the relevant expenses.

5. Obeying the legal procedure is not hassle. It is responsibility to all.” Un-quote.

Hope above helps.

Carol asks…

Can you go to FedEx Office to receive a tracking number for a package?

I’m trying to track a package but the person who sent it out doesn’t have the tracking number. I don’t feel like calling so is it possible to go to FedEx Office and receive a tracking number? How do I show proof that it’s me? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

No. The shipper is the one who should have the number. Don’t even consider Office, you need someone more experienced the the Fedex system. Calling is your only hope and it’s extremely slim. Probably the best you can hope for without the number is to call and ask for an eta when the package comes in, when the driver on your route has it they can then call you with the eta.

Sharon asks…

How much longer will it take for FedEx to deliver?

So I ordered a package from FedEx on Monday night, saying it’ll arrive on February 1st or before. It’s coming from Irving, TX and so left Texas on Monday Night, and was in transit. Right now, about 40 minutes ago it said it arrived in Independence, KY which is a little more than an hour away from Louisville, KY where I live. Since it’s 5:00 right now, what are the odds I get the package today?

Michelle answers:

You will more than likely get it by tomorow. They will will drop it off at the main hub in ur city and dispatch it off in the morning nd you will get it in the afternoon. Im a supervisor for UPS. The way we work is the UPS picks up and drops off a trailer nd unloads it. Nd from there we divided it by zip codes nd dispatch… So you should get it by tomorow if you dont you can call nd try to get a refund
good luck

Robert asks…

What time does FedEx start delivering in the morning?

I ordered some live animals and they are arriving tomorrow morning. I HAVE to be there to sign for it, and I want to make sure I’m awake when they come. What time is the earliest that FedEx starts their delivery runs? I am on the west coast in PST (Pacific Standard Time) if that makes any bit of difference.

Thanks so much!

Michelle answers:

They transit 24 hours.
