Your Questions About Firefox

Donald asks…

How can I put google icon on desktop with firefox as my search engine?

I have firefox as my search engine. I want to put a google icon on my desktop. How can I do this?

Michelle answers:

I presume that you want a Google (Chrome, maybe?) icon on your desktop which loads up Firefox. (By the way, Firefox is a Web browser not search engine but don’t worry)

1) Find an icon online. It has to be an icon with a .ico file extension.

2) Download it and save it somewhere accessible on your computer.

2) Go to your desktop, right click the Firefox icon and click ‘Properties’ at the bottom.

3) Click ‘Change Icon’ then ‘Browse’.

4) Find your icon, select it and click OK.

5) Click ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’.

6) The icon should have changed.

If you want to get the old one back it should be in a directory similar to this:
C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe

Susan asks…

Firefox closes whenever I start up my computer?

This is something that’s been bothering me for about a week. Whenever I freshly start up my computer, and for about a minute afterward, any Firefox window I open will close in about 5-15 seconds. There are no problems after my computers been on for a couple minutes, only in that brief window of time directly after I start it up. What could be causing this?

Michelle answers:

If you are trying to start Firefox before your computer has finished booting up, then this is what will happen. Wait until your computer has finished booting up before you open Firefox.

Robert asks…

How to make Firefox store a different password?

I’m using the latest version of Firefox and when I was prompted to save a password on a particular site, I accidentally saved the wrong one. How can I change it in Firefox?

Michelle answers:

Go to Tools > Options, and select the Security tab. Under Passwords, click on the “Saved Passwords” button. Scroll down to the site for which you saved the wrong password, select it, and click the “Remove” button. That will erase the old (wrong) password, and you should be able to return to the site, log in again, and have Firefox save the correct password this time.

Jenny asks…

How do I get Firefox to save my tabs?

I have the latest version of Firefox. It asks me if I want to save my tabs every time I close it, and I always say yes, but it never saves them. Does anyone know why? Thanks for the help!

Michelle answers:

Try this instead:

1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the Main page.
3. Set the “When Firefox starts” list box to “Show my Windows and tabs from last time”.
4. Click OK.

Hope that helps.
