Your Questions About Fedex

Sandy asks…

How long does fedex take to deliver a package?

I ordered something online and fedex says that it has been in my town for about 7 hours now. How much longer does this usually take

Michelle answers:

Depends on the time it arrived and the city you live in. If you are in a major city, where Fedex planes land, less time than elsewhere. You have a tracking number, use the Fedex website to see where it is

Ken asks…

How can I export my DHL addresses into Fedex account?

I’m having trouble saving the file and importing into Fedex. I certainly don’t want to have to input each address. Anyone have any tips? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

Call 800-463-3339 and say “Technical Support” then option 1. Tell them your problem and they will walk you through it. Hope this helps!

Richard asks…

How much are Fedex Ground drivers paid per package to deliver and pick up?

I understand Fedex Ground drivers are independent contractors.

How much do they get paid for each package they deliver and for each package they pick up?
Is that gross or net? (i.e., is that after they pay for the truck, insurance, and gas)?

Michelle answers:

Again, each contracted route varies. There are certain factors that provide the contractors settlement. Mileage, distance from terminal, projected volume, weight of package, etc. If you are interested in a route, ask contractors in your local terminal. They would be the best source for telling you about the business.

James asks…

Are you going to send a package of high value to the Philippines by FedEx?

If you are planning to, DON’T! You may be in for a headache.

I recently sent a package that contains prescription medicine to my dad. When it got to Philippine Customs, they held it hostage for a long time. The people there are very shady. The customs people, along with FedEx employees are in cahoots. They seem to be running an extortion business.

Beware!

Michelle answers:

Should have sent it through LBC, Atlas, or ACE. They are a Philippine based shippers.
We have sent same thing before, and it went right on through. Make sure you have all your documents about the medicine in the box. I would suggest making a few copies for each meds.

Your Questions About Fafsa

Steven asks…

How do I complete the FAFSA without income tax?

So, here’s the deal: My mom is disable and has been collecting disability checks from the government. My father died about two years ago and I have been collecting survivors benefits. Since my mom doesn’t work she does not file income taxes. How do I complete the FAFSA without the income tax?

Michelle answers:

You read the form and follow the instructions. When it asks about you and your parents tax plans you simply select, “Will not file” and move on. Simple!

Betty asks…

How do i appeal a fafsa suspension?

I know what i am going to write, but not where to send it! ive tried searching the fafsa website and cannot find anywhere to send my appeal letter. (my financial advisor told me it was on the website)

p.s: i was diagnosed w ADD recently and have been put on meds. is that a legitimate reason to appeal my suspension?

Michelle answers:

You don’t appeal to FAFSA

you appeal to your school’s Fin Aid department

make sure you also get with your school’s disability adviser

given how ADD affects learning, it is possible that this could be a valid reason for Fin Aid appeal

George asks…

How do I get my FAFSA completed before Feb1 when my parents have not received their W-2s?

The FAFSA is open for submittal starting January 1 and the Oregon deadline is February 1. How do I get this done soon when my parents W2s have not arrived?

How does anyone get this done on the first few days of January?

Michelle answers:

On the FAFSA they ask if you have filed your return or not. In this case, the info would be for your parents. If the answer is no, then you are asked to give estimates for the questions asked about their finances. After they file their taxes, then you go back to the FAFSA on-line and put in the finalized numbers.

Lisa asks…

How much does FAFSA help a Sophomore student?

I am in the very bottom range as far as income. I am wondering about an estimate of how much money FAFSA might give me since I am a Sophomore student at a university. Please don’t give me the website to FAFSA because that didn’t help me.

Michelle answers:

You can never be sure until you fill it out. But what I do know is first come first serve; ie the earlier you get it in, the more money you could get.

Your Questions About Fafsa

Mark asks…

How does being married affect the amount of money one can acquire from FAFSA/Financial Aid?

My boyfriend and I are both very serious and are considering getting married. However we are both full-time students and don’t know how being married will affect the money we receive from FAFSA/Financial Aid.
We are currently dependents of our parents, live on campus and do not have any sort of income (We probably wont have an income once we’re married because we’ll still be full-time students).
Will getting married increase or decrease the amount of money we will receive from FAFSA/Financial Aid?

Michelle answers:

Once you marry you become independent of your parents and no longer have to include their income on your FAFSA. If you don’t make any money then you will get an EFC of 0 and will receive a good amount of aid.

However, not getting a job is an insanely stupid thing to do because you won’t get enough to fully cover your schooling and then you’ll be left having to take out loans.

Chris asks…

Do you have to fill out a new FAFSA if you transfer to a new school?

My boyfriend has already filled out FAFSA for the 2011-2012 school year, but is now planning on transferring to a different university. Will he need to fill out a new FAFSA for the new school?

Michelle answers:

No. He just needs to log back in and add a new school code.

Linda asks…

Does the state distribute the FAFSA checks before or after the semester?

If one receives the check before the semester, how would the state know that you’re taking the sufficient amount of units, 12.

Receiving the FAFSA check after the semester makes more sense, right?

How does this work, exactly?

Michelle answers:

The school receives the check before the semester starts. You get the excess sometime later. Some schools distribute this money shortly after the start of the semester and some will make you wait several weeks.

Lizzie asks…

how do I get around fafsa’s eligibility regulations to be considered an independent student ?

I have been fighting the financial aid office at my school to file for independency being that my mother will not pay my tuition and does not contribute to help me whatsoever. Fafsa does not consider me independent because of its requirements you must meet and they dont consider my situation “dire” enough. Any suggestions?

Michelle answers:

You can not if your mother has claimed you on her taxes. But if you claimed yourself that makes you independent. If not my guess is to have you get a student loan. The place that I go to is www.college-assist.com. Good luck.
