Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Induction

Sandra asks…

Question about Blue Cohosh?

I have been doing alot of research on this and was just wondering for when I am further along in my pregnancy about the blue cohosh pills. Has anyone tried them not the oil but the capsules. I know there are alot of people on here that are against natural induction so I dont want any mean answers, just serious answers only. I have heard of the red raspberry leaf tea and the blue cohosh but how much do you need to take? How much tea should I make up and drink each day?
but how far along was she when she took them and how much did she take?
Can you add sugar to the tea to make it taste better, if not what can you put in it to make it taste better.

Michelle answers:

I’ve worked in a few health food stores and they pulled or didn’t sell blue cohosh because of the dangers. Some women use blue cohosh to induce abortions, so perhaps that’s why. I’ve never known anyone that has used it.
I did use red raspberry leaf tea the day before my due date. My best friend also used it to go into labor. We each drank 3 cups of tea a day. Make sure it’s steeped well according to the package to get the full effect. I went into labor the next day and delivered really fast, before that I was told I would have to be induced by pitocin or I would go overdue since I showed absolutely no signs of being ready. The nurses were amazed that I delivered on my due date and how easy my delivery was. I had my son 12 hours after my very first contraction!
Here’s a link to a popular brand and a store locator so you can find it easily http://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/?title=store+locator
Good luck!
Oh before I get a thumbs down, my best friends midwife recommended red raspberry leaf tea and my doctors were preparing me for a cesarean because they thought my baby would be huge. I also walked a lot during contractions to get things going. My son was delivered healthy and so was my best friends daughter. Both of us will do this again when we are pregnant and things aren’t moving along. Most of the women in my family are induced by pitocin and I would never do that!

Paul asks…

What natural (at home) self inductions have really worked for you?

I am 38 weeks pregnant and at my last OB appointment, my doctor told me that I am 1cm dilated and that she can feel my baby’s head (its very low). I have a herniated disk and the baby is sitting right on it. Its very painful and I can hardly walk or do anything for myself. i’ve been having alot of contractions lately (very painful) and pains in my back that feel like really bad menstrual cramps. Part of the day I’ll contract every 3-7 minutes, then the next it’ll stop, then start up again. i have no idea what to think. This is my 2nd pregnancy, nothing like the first. i just want to know, what can I do at home (safe) that I can jump start labor? My doctor is inducing me in two weeks if i haven’t had the baby yet, but Im very impatient and in terrible pain and uncomfortable. Has anyone done anything to jump start their labor? Ive heard about primrose oil(not sure how to use), castor oil, bouncing on a ball, yoga, pressure points and extreme dancing..What really works?? Someone please help me!
P.S. : I believe I did already loose my plug, but not sure, I had brown tinged mucousy discharge, very thick. I think that was it, but not sure.
Thank you 🙂

Michelle answers:

You aren’t going to last 2 weeks since you lost your plug and are having labor. I give you 2-3 days at the most. Walk as much as possible and use warm pads to help with the pain. Nothing worked for me and stripping the membranes only made labor longer.

Robert asks…

2nd Pregnancy & C-Section Question?

I just found out that I am pregnant with my second child!! For my first, towards the end of my pregnancy I had problems with my kidneys and was hospitalized for most of my final months! The doctor decided one day that he was going to perform a c-section because of 2 maybe 3 failed inductions and the constant pain I was in … Do you think that I will have to have a C-Section again? I have been reading up and people say that it is a serious risk to try and have a natural birth after a C-section .. Anyone Know or have any advice? Will I be able to have my second child natural? Thanks!

Michelle answers:

25% of women trying to have a natural birth after a C-section, end up having a second C-section. But that means that 75% of them have a natural birth.

It can be a serious risk, but it absolutely depends on what went wrong the first time and how your C-section went. You need to talk to your consultant (I’m presuming you’ll be under a specialist right from the start due to your problems last time). The main risk is a ruptured uterus which is a very serious thing to happen (the baby is quite likely to die) and only someone with access to you and your notes can tell you how much of a risk this is for you.

Susan asks…

should i have an induction?

i am 38 weeeks and 2 days pregnant i have had a horrible pregnancy and have a pregnancy related condition called cholestasis which means that i may have a stillbirth in order to avoid this women with this condition are usually induced at 37 38 weeks. I thought that i would have delivered by now as my first was born at 36 spontaneously and i have no problems with his pregnancy. My doctor was going to leave me to carry term as long as the baby was moving everyday and i am monitored twice at hospital however today i went for a scan mentioned hes not moving as much as usual (only at night really) and they did a scan and said that the placenta looks worn it has white spots on it so they want to induce me on thursday or friday. I am sad as i have gotten this far and feel that it wont be natural.

Michelle answers:

I would for sure be induced. Do whats best for you and your baby, that may be getting him/her out as soon as possible. I need potocin for my son and it wasnt so bad. Good Luck!!

Your Questions About Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Donald asks…

What is a natural cure for headaches during pregnancy.?

I have horrible headaches. Tylenol doesn’t work. I feel guilty for taking that anyway. What can I do besides laying down in a dark room. I have a five yr old so that’s not always possible.

Michelle answers:

Lavender Essential Oil always works for me.

Rub a drop of Lavender Essential Oil into your temples. If your headache seems to be at front of the head, you can also rub into middle of the brow or if headache is at back of head, rub into nape of neckl.

If you are concerned about using essential oils turning pregenancy the following articles are worth reading

Joseph asks…

Can you get pregnant after 60 and have healthy children?

like if you just got married or maybe 50 cause I feel people should enjoy their youth before settling down and 33 is too young to have a baby because I know a 33 year old who is trying to have a baby with her husband which I find strange.I hope in the future you can have a natural pregnancy after 50 or 60 so that people cant wait longer.

Michelle answers:

Poor kid… Just what they need.

To be raised by their ‘grand parents’… Assuming their ‘grand parents’ live long enough to do so…

There’s a reason that puberty is in the early teens and menopause happens when it does… Makes me wonder about your reason for having kids…

A very fertile 29yr old female hereI’m on my 7th pregnancy in 9 yrs. My employers have no choice but to keep my job open & company policy pays full pay up to 6 months each time. However, i notice other woman in the office seem a little cool with me. They seem jealous. I know one in particular is like 39 and trying for 5 yrs for a kid – again not my problem. Natures way of telling her its not meant to be i guess.I think shel have a BIG problem when i announce i’m 4 months gone again as my baby is only 10 months! We are both so happy my husband and I. I dont even ‘need’ this job. My husbands a successful business person & clever. I enjoy having my career as its well paid. I do not believe in being a sap mom living off my husband and demonstrating to my children that its ok for a woman to become a lazy sodd living off one salary just because i’ve had them. We have two live in nannies and i get to spend lots of quality time with my children daily which is quality time and enjoyable. I love my kids, love motherhood but i want my career laswell! I think i’m an inspiration to my kids, to show them that woman dont have to just down tools during their child rearing years. I’m showing them indpendance and career are important to woman. Not being a passive helpless woman living off my husband and making him responsible for everything! How do i get my message accross. I’m thining of comlaining to HR about the woman in the company being frost to me. What do you think? I mean its not my fault i’m a natural woman and that i can easily combine mother hood and work….

Michelle answers:

I’m not surprised they don’t like you as you appear to be a self satisfied smug show off bitch with an inflated opinion of yourself.the reason you can afford to work is that you and your other half earn a decent wage which affords you 2 nannies.most women don’t have that option so wind your neck in and get out from up your own arse.

Michelle answers:

As a stay at home mother I resent what you have ran your mouth about. I work hard at taking care of my children. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with both parents working, however in some situations it’s not exactly the best choice for the children. I DONT have to pay someone to take care of my children. I DO MY JOB AS A MOTHER. I work hard at making them become succesful responsible people. Unlike you who’s paying someone else raise your children. Sounds to me like you have a problem with the other lady in the office. So your going to go cry to HR because of all the negative attention your getting? Sounds like your upset at the life you have made and just want justification from total strangers that your going to win the mother of the year award. I really feel sorry for your children. They will probably grow up just as naive as you.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Mandy asks…

What’s the bodys natural way of telling you your pregnant?

Without taking a pregnancy test.

Michelle answers:

A missed period is the big one. Morning sickness and tender breast are also symptoms.

Steven asks…

i took a pregnancy test and it came out postive.?

Is there any natural ways that i would be able to get rid of the baby if im not that far along and not ready for a baby.I really dont want my parents to find out because they would put my boyfriend in jail since ive already had once miscarriage.
i was on birth control when i got pregnant. im really and truely againts abortion but i really dont want my parents to put my 18 year old boyfriend in jail.If anything hes the one whos telling me to get the abortion just because hes scared of whats going to happen. I in no way want to have an abortion ..but i feel like hes making me.

William asks…

Want to know if equate pregnancy tests are accurate?

I have not gotten my period since November 20th. I have tried already 4 equate pregnancy tests (Wal-Mart brand) and they have all came out negative. I am looking into taking a blood test. I have 3 kids and have used ept once for the three pregnancies. My first two pregnancies were natural the last one 2 years ago was a C-section. My period has been crazy. I was regular before my C-section now I had my periods once a month but one day when I wipe myself then the next day nothing then in 2 days again and so on. I am just so frustrated. My cousin tells me all pregnancy tests are the same thing even the ones at the 99¢ stores. My stomach is terribly bloated like if I were pregnant and yesterday and today I got a small light peach color on the paper. My lower back hearts and I am so exsosted. If someone has had the same problem please talk to me. I need a lot of advice………

Thanks

Michelle answers:

All pregnancy tests are NOT the same. They show positive or negative based on the amount of HCG found in your urine. Some tests are more sensative. The dollar store ones are not. This comes from very recent experience. Try an early PG test – like First Response. Or just go to the dr. Like you planned for a blood test. That way if you are NOT PG, they can do further tests/exams to find out what is going on. Good luck!

Sandy asks…

Positive strep b test in pregnancy?

I am in my 38th week of pregnancy and I’ve tested positive for Strep B. I plan to be given antibiotics via an IV during labor, however my mid-wife says I will need a dose every 4 hours. This seems too frequent. Any ideas about what is the average time in between doses? I really don’t mind protecting my unborn baby from disease, but I also would like a more natural birth, less restriction, with the ability to move around. I assume that since I have the option to reject the antibiotic, I would also have the option to decide how often I receive the doses. But I don’t want to come to my midwife with a request unless it’s reasonable. What I am asking is a) what is the average number of hours in between doses, and b) can I ask that I only be given the antibiotic this frequently?

I am looking for personal experiences or medical advice (from nurses, etc), not just opinions.

Michelle answers:

I am a mom who tested positive for strep B with my last pregnancy. I was given a constant drip after my water broke the night before my c-section. They know what they are doing, allow them to do it unless you want your baby to have complications and possibly die.

Your Questions About The Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Carol asks…

Has anybody ever assisted/coached their mother during her labor? Just curious.?

I have an older daughter and I would really like to have both her and my husband (her step-father) in the delivery room with me as both my coaches! I’m also going through a midlife pregnancy, and want to have a natural birth.

Michelle answers:

Hi dear!
I know I’ve answered another one of your questions before, and I know I mentioned that my daughter was in the delivery room with me when I gave birth to her last couple siblings.

It was really nice to have her in the room holding my hand, holding my legs up (like someone talked about above lol) and coaching ME through this both times (I coached her for my grandson’s birth). Being a midlife mom myself, the last couple of births were difficult for me, therefore a lot of deep vocal pushes, came from me during the process lol! I know you mentioned you were thinking of a natural birth, but I would still consider an epidural.

But definitely talk to your daughter about it. It’s a fabulous idea. It’s a bonding experience that lasts forever…kind of like when I had my turn birth coaching my daughter!

Good luck! 🙂

Sandy asks…

Scar pain after C-section, good treatment? Will VBACS make things better?

I’m in my 2nd pregnancy now, after having a c-section 2 years ago with my son. Ive started getting the normal pain along my scar from the stretching of it (yes I’m sure its just the scar, Ive had 3 ultrasounds to check for cysts and what not).

Ive been using some E-oil, but its VERY expensive to get pure E-oil… Is there anything else I can put on it to make the stretching easier, or a little less painful?

Also, My husband and I have been discussing birth control for after this baby is born. We always wanted to have more children, definitely more than 2. After my 1st c-section I was forced into the fact that if I had a 2nd c-section, natural birth would be impossible.

This pregnancy I am planning a all natural thing (crosses fingers). If I have another c-section I was planing on getting my tubes tied (I don’t want to have more than 2 c-sections).

If however I manage to pull off a VBACS, I was wondering if this pain in my scar will be less with the next pregnancy?

Does giving vaginal birth help the pain? It makes sense to me, you wouldn’t have any new scar tissue, and the old scar would be stretched out from the previous pregnancy.

I am only about 24 weeks along in this pregnancy, and already the pain coming from the scar is terrible some days, mostly the days I run out of E-oil. I seriously think that if it is going to be this bad next pregnancy I may just get my tubes tied either way… I was just rely hoping to have more children, as was my husband.

Has anyone ever had a pregnancy after a VBACS?
Does the c-section scar hurt less after a VBACS delivery, than the pregnancy directly after the c-section?

Michelle answers:

Congratulations. I havent had a c-section i had a natural birth, but i am a midwife and have seen an array of births. Pregnancies after a c-section and VBAC and quite common when all goes well in the VBAC i would tend to agree with you that once the scar has stretched the pain and itching would be less then with this pregnancy. Are you going to try for a VBAC? The only thing i would suggest is talking in depth to your doctor about why you had a c-section in the first place as this can influence wether it is adviseable to try for a VBAC or electe for another c-section. Good luck with everything

Charles asks…

missed period….???what do i do?

i am 21 yrs old, i was on birth control till 2 months ago, i got my natural period after i stopped taking the pill but this month my period is 12 days late and i have not got it yet. I don’t have any pregnancy symptoms and even my home pregnancy test is negative is it still possible that i could be pregnant? i don’t want to be pregnant…what could be the reason for getting no period?

Michelle answers:

Yes it is still possible may be you are testing too early but you can request the blood work at your doc it is more accurate Good luck……

Sandra asks…

pregnant with twins and doctor was rude about my weight? PCOS and endometriosis?

I have pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome) and stage 3 endometriosis, and am only 22 years old. after 2 years of trying natural methods and suffering 2 miscarriages we turned to fertility treatments. i started out 5’8 and 270lbs but while ttc i worked my ass off and lost 35lbs in 3 months. that third month i got pregnant on 150mg clomid and ovidrel trigger shot. my first obgyn congratulated my weight loss and urged me not to gain over 30lbs this pregnancy. well i moved and thus changed doctors. when i went in the nurse weighed me and asked how much i have gained so far in this pregnancy (im 25 weeks and have gained 12lbs). i told her and she didnt say a word. then when the doc saw me first thing he did was in a very rude tone lecture me about weight gain and scare me with all the risks of being obese and pregnant. when i told him id lost 35lbs before my pregnancy and how hard it was he said did you resume eating junk during this pregnancy? in a snarky tone. i was so offended and hurt i cried when we left. i wanna switch docs but am afraid of the same reaction. after all i went through i just want to be happy during my miracle pregnancy.

Michelle answers:

Well some doctors can be very rude. You can either try with another doctor or come back to this one and tell them how you didn’t appreciate their rudeness. You do not have to put up with being treated like that. A little bit of tact is something i think doctors should be taught alongside anatomy because some are down right cruel.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Book

Chris asks…

What happens in the birth scene in Breaking Dawn?

Let me get this out of the way: I’m NOT a Twilight fan. I do NOT like the series. But I have a couple of friends who were in love with it, but they told me time and time again how much the final book, Breaking Dawn, sucked hairy balls, and how the entire pregnancy thing was ridiculous on many levels. They said that even the birth was pretty freaky, etc., etc. And, of course, my natural curiosity kicked in and I asked them about it. But they gave me varied, almost vague answers. So now I’m turning to yahoo answers:

Can someone please describe the entire birth scene from Breaking Dawn? And what’s this I hear about a Cesarean with teeth??

Or if someone can provide a link for me so I can read it myself, that would be greatly appreciated =D

Michelle answers:

First of all the birth scene begins with Bella spilling human blood on white carpet and furniture. She is drinking the blood because that is what the baby needs — she throws everything else up. Anyway, she spills a cup of blood and tries to reach for it, and in the process the placenta detaches, causing the baby to suffocate. Bella begins screaming, and blood is spraying out of her mouth and going everywhere. Jacob, Edward, and Rosalie take Bella upstairs where Edward tears Bella’s clothes off to get the baby out. Edward cuts Bella’s skin with a scalpel, and while this is going on the baby crushes Bella’s spine, leaving her paralyzed. Edward must use his teeth to get through the uterine wall in order to get the baby out. The sound of this is described as metal on metal. Finally the baby is out, is handed to her dying mother, and proceeds to bite her breast. Baby is taken away, Bella is dying, Jacob is giving mouth to mouth (keep in mind that her mouth is covered in human blood — not her blood, but the stuff she was drinking). Edward injects venom into Bella’s hear with a syringe, and bites her all over to inject more venom. And that is my very detailed answer!

Helen asks…

Large baby and getting scared?

I had a very large baby last time (10lb 12.5oz) The pregnancy was fine, and the birth all though long was pretty much text book. But when he was born being as he was so big I had a 4 degree tear. More blood over the bed and floor than in a horror film. I also has a retained placenta. I managed to hold my beautiful new baby for less than a minuet, and I was rushed into surgery. I had to sign a consent form to say I agree to a hysterectomy if they could not stop the bleeding and remove my placenta 100%. This obviously scared the shite out of me. I was in surgery for 4 hours. Awake the whole time, but with a c section does of epidural. For that whole time I was going into shock and the only thing that stopped me going unconscious was the fact I wanted so much to be with my baby and DH.

After that I was not allwed to walk for 48 hours, and had to have 9 pints of blood. And was in hospital for 5 days after. Recovery took longer than a c section, and ever since I have had problems with my lady bits.

Anyway, even with all that I sooo wanted another. And as the Drs had said, the chances of me having one the same size again was slim and that was just a one off. So this time when I fell pregnant I did not worry about the after effects. Birth does not faze me at all. Its the most amazing thing I have ever done, and tried to embrace every second of it. I saw the consultant at 18 weeks and he again said there was no reason why I should not be able to deliver naturally. This please me.

I had to have a growth scan yesterday. At 26 weeks I was measuring 28, and now I am 28 I am measuring 33. His growth on the little chart is off the scale, and he is 97% on the centile line, and weighs 3.8lb already when the average for 28 weeks is 2.4lb. So he is on track to be 2% or more bigger than my first son, and he was on the 95%.

I am now having thoughts of a c section. But the thought scares me stupid. Was wake all night worrying about it. Its not the actual c section, its the after. And also I so want to go through labor again. (mad I know). I am kinda worried that I wont feel that bond with it as I have not actually given birth to it. I know lots of people chose to have sections and dont get this feeling. Just worried I will.

Everyone says its up to me if I try natural, or opt for a section. But that is a stupidly hard choice. I need someone to say to me that a section is the only way to go, and it will be better than the recovery if things go wrong again after the birth. I feel selfish for wanting to have him naturally. I am so scared, i Just dont know what to do. I am back in two weeks with the consultant again.

Sorry for the going on. Any suggestions would be welcome. xxx
They did say yesterday that is nothing i do, I am a healthy eather (a little over weight, but not much) and I dont eat processed foods, and not much of a sweet tooth. They just said that its the compination of mine and my husbands genes that make big healthy babies.

I cant wait to meet my little man.

x

Michelle answers:

From everything you have said i would opt for a c section. I know that you want to do it the natural way but you will prob end up worrying alot more if you do. It would also be awful if you had to go and have emergancy surgery again after birth 🙁

All in in all it would be better to take that worry out of it all. For you and for your family. A planned c section is not a bad thing if its prob the safest option. This way you can sit back and relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy knowing that you have a date for the birth.

The drs have given you the choice so they can obviously see that in your case things could go either way and they would be happy to go with what you feel is best.

Anyway i hope things go well for you. Good Luck and big babies r much cuter lol. My son was not as big as yours (8lbs 11) but he was very chunky 🙂

Donna asks…

Is it too late to switch midwives?

I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant (due in July) and am experiencing a little dissatisfaction with my midwife. She’s nice enough and supportive of my desire to have a natural birth but my visits with her are SO SHORT! At the absolute most, they last 15 minutes. With my last pregnancy, I chose an OB/GYN for prenatal care so I’m familiar with how long an average visit should last. But I chose midwifery care this time around because I’d been told visits wouldn’t be so rushed. This problem is compounded by the fact that – even though I often book the FIRST appointment of the day – my husband and I are forced to wait in the cramped lobby an average of 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment time (not including the 10 minutes we’re told to arrive ahead of time for check-in). On one occasion, we had to wait for two hours! Then, because she’s running late, our visits get cut short by a knock on the door from the nurse informing our midwife that other patients our waiting. I don’t like feeling so rushed. There hasn’t been much time to develop a rapport with her – instead I feel like I’m at an annual physical with a regular doctor.

At our last appointment, I overheard the receptionist explaining to a client how swamped their clinic was and that it’s currently serving however many thousands of patients, bla bla bla… So, I don’t feel like my midwife is entirely the one to blame. It sounds more like the clinic is just waaay over scheduled.

Am I just being crazy because I’m pregnant? Or is this a valid
concern? Have any of you out there switched providers halfway through pregnancy? If so, were you happy with the results?

I’m also feeling really scared about switching providers at this
point and would love to hear people’s opinions on that as well.

Michelle answers:

If your not happy SWITCH!

I swiched midwives after about 12 weeks because she told me that my baby might have died because i didn’t get morning sickness! Iot was my first pregnancy and i was totally devestated!!! I had to go in for two blood tests to make sure everything was ok. Turned out everything was fine, but it really shook my confidence in her so i got a new one who was abosolutly FANTASTIC!!! Im so glad i did. You also have to think if she has lots of patients then there’s a bigger chance you will go into labour at the same time as one of them. Which means less care when you need it most. I would strongly suggest finding a midwife with less clients on her books so you and your bubs get the care you deserve!

Good luck and congrats!

Charles asks…

Twilight question everyone?

I have a few questions:

1. How does everyone react when they find out Bella’s pregnant? I want to know how Jacob, Carlisle, Alice, Rosalie, Esme, Emmett, Jasper, and Edward. react to it.

2. Why did Edward and Bella name their child Renesme? (or does it not say int he book?)

3. Is Edward, like, really in pain when he sees how much Bella is suffering while she is pregant?

4. Does Charlie find out she is part of a “super natural world”? Anyone else? If so, what do they say?

5. Does Jessica or Angela or any other of Bella’s human friends find out abotu her pregnancy/marrige? If so, what is their reaction?

6. Do Bella and Edward ever move from forks to alaska or somewhere else?

Thanks so much, and please do not say “read it yourself” I am sick of that. I know I should, but I just want to know.

Michelle answers:

1. JACOB: he was disgusted. He wanted to kill it for killing Bella and was furious with Edward for allowing this
CARLISLE: He is surprised but not angry or anything (remember Carlisle values human life and is very compasionate)
ALICE: She sort of new something was up when Bella was slipping out of her visions. During the pregnancy she becomes distant because the baby gives her ‘headaches’ (she can’t see it). Being unable to see it and Bella (because their futures are tied) annoys her.
ROSALIE: She was glad. She was very supportive for Bella to keep the baby because one of the things she’s allways wanted and cannot have is a baby. She is sort of living through Bella and is happy to have a baby to care for.
ESME, EMMETT, JASPER: Their reactions aren’t really mentioned but they are all shocked and are a bit against it for the pain it’s causing Bella and Edward.
EDWARD: He is really against it. If you’ve read the book you’d know how over-protective he is and he hates anything putting Bella in danger. He also doesn’t like the fact Alice can’t see Bella’s future because now he doesn’t know if she is going to survive. When he first finds out he goes into a state of shock though (and Bella gets annoyed at him for ruining her ‘moment’). He and Jacob both want it dead until he starts ‘hearing’ it/

2. Renesme’s name is explained it the book. It’s pretty much a combination of Renee (Bella’s mom) and Esme (Edward’s mom). So you pronounce it Ruh-nes-may = Renee/esme

3. He doesn’t suffer any physical pain but it hurts him inside. When Jacob sees him he describes Edward as looking like he’s being burned alive. He loathes the thing and is disgusted at what he’s done. He blames himself and wants the baby dead.

4. Jacob is the one who introduces Charlie to the ‘super natural world’. He turns himself into a wolf in front of Charlie and explains Bella is part of this super natural world to but isn’t a wolf. Charlie is happy to go along with a ‘need to know’ basis but he knows there is something up with Bella, Renesme (who they describe as ‘special’) and the Cullens. They don’t actually say Bella and the Cullens are vampires because if Charlie found out the Volturi would kill him.

5. They are at the wedding but after that they lose contact with Bella and don’t find out about the pregnancy. They aren’t really mentioned in the book at all though so their reactions are left to the reader’s immagination.

6. No. When Bella is a vampire she has really strong self-control around humans so the Alaska precaution is not neccessary. Esme and the others give her a cottage (near Forks) for Bella’s 19th so her, Edward and Renesme stay near the Cullens and Forks.

Sorry if it’s a bit long just wanted to be detailed =]
I hope this helped if you have any more questions let me know!~

Your Questions About The Oldest Natural Pregnancy

Chris asks…

2 week old newborn… Birth control question?

My new baby is 2 weeks old. My next appointment with my OB/GYN is in 4 more weeks. At this appt, she wants to talk about birth control. So far I cannot decide on a method. I don’t want to use any hormones, so no pills, patches or shots. My husband and I both dislike barrier methods, so no condoms or diaphragms. I cannot stand gels or douches, no spermicide or suchlike… The intrauterine device is OUT.

We actually want to have more children, LOTS more, we don’t mind how soon. I’m young, healthy and fertile. I’ve already bounced back from pregnancy and a natural delivery. I’m breastfeeding my baby.

HOW do I politely tell my OB that I am not really able to decide on a method of birth control? Or, should I say I’m going to try something like “the rythm method” or “the Billings method” etc. etc., should I just lie and say we’re using condoms? Then in two months “Oops, the contraception failed?”

I mean, I want another baby… Shouldn’t have to justify it to the doc?

Michelle answers:

Do not lie to your doctor. At your next exam she will tell you if you are physically able to have children right away. Since you are breast feeding it might take a while anyway. I opted against the pill at my last check up and I don’t remember her questioning me about my decision. Good luck and happy parenting.

William asks…

pregnant or what??

i am 20 years old, and i had a natural miscarriage in march. i had a period on the 19th of April. my next period is a week late and i am very tired, feel a bit nausous i have heartburn. i just done a pregnancy test and its negative! im not stressed or anything, is it my period regulaing?? it doesnt feel like it?
if i am pregnant why is there not enough hormones to be detected?

thank you

Michelle answers:

I would definatly go to the doctor, unfortunatly some women take tests all along the pregnancy and no signs ever show. My sister was nine months, and still a pregnancy test would show negitive,

so take care of yourself, and go to the doctors

2 week old bub, no birth control?

Husband is on the same page as me. Doesn’t want to use birth control methods, wants to have another as soon as is natural.

Michelle answers:

Getting pregnant while breastfeeding your baby is not a good idea. Attempting to feed THREE people will be extremely draining-it will weaken your immune system and may cause problems with a fetus. There are condoms that feel like you aren’t using anything at all (which is what I use, with spermicide)-if you must get pregnant soon, PLEASE wait until you are six months postpartum-when your baby starts solids, he/she will need less breastmilk, making it a little safer.
When you go to your ob/gyn, just explain that you understand the risks, but it is the choice that you and your partner have made. They will try and talk you out of it, just hold your ground. Blessings and congratulations on your new addition to the family!

Oh, and one more thing-breastfeeding, while it DOES work for some, isn’t the best birth control. I breastfed full time and restarted my menses about 6 weeks postpartum-I’m not sure if I was ovulating, but I *think* I was. Just be cautious. =)

Mark asks…

i am getting sued for selling a sick puppy?

when i bred my dog for the first time a purebred pug named mia she had a excelent pregnancy healthy birth all on her own natural but as the puppies got older i noticed mia losing hair so i went to the vet and they told me she has demedex i got her treated right aways and the vet told me never to breed her again cuz she is the host so she would only get it again and to get her spayed i have a appointment for that on the 2nd i was never told that the puppies have it just that they could have gotten it but when i brought them in at 6 weeks for the shots dewormed the vet told me that all 4 puppies were healthy that they did not have demedex and that they were good to go to new homes it was written on the vet records for each puppy that they were healthy! now the male over a month later has demedex and the lady wants to take me to court there was no garanteed health for a year and the puppy was healthy when i sold him but the vet records on the computer says that the male was showing signs at 6 weeks of demedex i was never told that and that was never written on the records given to me! what should i do i have someone that was in the vet office with me also saying she did not hear anything about the puppies maybe being sick they were all healthy! can she win in court i mean i feel horrible that the puppy got sick and will NEVER breed again but the puppy is no longer mine what should i do!
i live in canada manitoba
i have offered to take the puppy back pay her full refund and the treatment so far for the demedex that she has had to pay. she has not responded she lives in the city i dont it costs her double what the vet said it would cost me here to treat him! all i want is for him to be healthy and have a good home but this is getting out of hand! i am hoping i can get him back and treated and he will have a spot in my home for the rest of his life! thank you for your comments! and those who think im stupid for breeding i know i am it wont happen again!

Michelle answers:

Firstly, Demodectic mange does not normally manifest itself until the puppies have been weaned and at the tender age of 6 weeks it is unlikely to show. The demodex mite is usually present in all dogs, but is due to a dog’s lowered immune system that the mite is allowed to overcome the bodies normal response and cause a problem. It is the lowered immune system that can have a genetic factor, not the mite. A dog with a normal immune response would not succumb. Therefore demodectic mange is congenital and not inherited. Demodectic mange is not something you can health screen the parents for.

It is probably nothing you have done wrong or could have foreseen, HOWEVER 6 weeks is legally too young to sell a puppy and reputable breeders will not sell toy breed puppies until they are 10 weeks minimum, and possibly not until they are 12-14 weeks, by which time this problem would have been apparent.

Secondly, this is the reason that breeding should be left to experienced and ethical breeders who know the above and do not sell puppies under the age of 6 weeks, or without sales contracts.

I am not familiar with the wacky US laws and sueing mania, but I suggest you get legal advice, and if it were me I would write to the puppy buyer explaining that you did not have a sales contract as this was a one-off litter, but that you offer to pay all or part of the veterinary fees, OR you take the puppy back and refund the payment to the buyer.

The puppy SHOULD be ok, you may need to treat with medication and regular shampoos, but in time it should grow out of this if it is not too bad. Same goes for the other puppies. Speak to your own vet or a skin specialist.
#
I hope you have now learned this sorry lesson and do indeed get your bltch spayed, and leave breeding to more knowledgeable and ethical breeders of experience.

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Test

Carol asks…

what are natural causes for irregular menstruals?

my last period was May the 3rd or 5th, i took a pregnancy test about two days ago and it was a clear negative. but i havent gotten my period and its june 11th, im paranoid and not sure if im pregnant. should i wait to see if i get my period or is there a different type of pregnancy test that i can buy that can detect early pregnancy?

Michelle answers:

Some people just are not regular. I never was. Doctors can help this with medications though. Stress can cause this too. Fear of being pregnant can cause you to be late which makes you even more scared you may be pregnant. If you are not pregnant and continue to be late go see your doctor. As far as tests, my doctor told me that Fact Plus was the best one. Good luck.

Sandra asks…

I think I might be pregnant… I will take a pregnancy test in another week?

or two…. in the meantime.. My question is…… does your urine come out cloudy when you’re pregnant.???I have noticed alot of discharge…. ( not smelly discharge…I’m very much aware of my natural scent… and it is still normal) but could the excessive discharge be causing the cloudiness ???
ABFABMOM! !!!!?????? What do you mean WTF am I doing ??? This will be my first pregnancy …. I am only aware of the typical nausau …. headache…. cramping…. lethargic….feeling that a pregnant women experiences!!! I believe this is called YAHOO ANSWERS for a reason…. the way I understand this works.. is .. if you have a question that you’re not sure of the answer… then you ask it… and you get responses. !! Am I correct ??? If you can’t provide an answer.. then move on to the next question !!!!!!
No.. not dark yellow !!! Just a normal color… but cloudy ….. as though there is discharge in my urine flow.

Michelle answers:

All kinds of weird things happen when you’re pregnant. Get a test done, they are very accurate these days even at an early stage. The sooner you start seeing a doc, the better. You also want to rule out any urinary infections.

Sharon asks…

Did you test positive for Group B Strep in pregnancy?

I found out I tested positive for it and the doctor said that means I’ll have to be hooked up to an IV with penicillin for 4 hours during labor, I really want to have a natural birth and a lot of what I plan on doing to handle the pain would be for me to be very mobile. Can I still walk around, even maybe get into the tub while hooked up? And am I hooked up as soon as I get to the hospital?

Michelle answers:

Yes, you should get the intravenous antibiotics as soon as possible after labour starts/waters break but no, you don’t have to be hooked up for 4 hours. They give the antibiotics through a drip (which takes about 30 minutes) or slow injection (about 5 minutes). The antibiotics are topped up every 4 hours and in between the 4 hourly doses, the cannula in your hand/arm can be plugged and the drip detached, so you can walk around if you want to.

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t get into the tub – the cannula should be kept dry but that’s not too difficult to manage!

Let us known how you get on!

Helen asks…

I skipped my period and have been getting negative pregnancy tests. However, it seems I am gaining weight in?

my stomach area. Today it even felt a little hard around my belly button. The weird thing is I do Natural family planning and I did not ovulate last month but my temperatures are low (they should be high if pregnant). Anyone know what the heck this means? Just gaining weight and stressed or prego?

Michelle answers:

Sometimes women shouldn’t trust at home pregnancy test because they could be inaccurate, so I would go to a doctor and they will give you the answers you need and they will be accurate. Gaining weight is a sign of pregnancy, do you have cravings? If so you might be pregnant.

Your Questions About Oldest Natural Pregnancy

John asks…

Tired of “pregnancy scare” questions from minors..?

Is our society really that messed up that our 14-16 year old girls think their old enough for sex when they cant remember top properly take the pill or correctly use a condom? I mean, does anyone teach their daughters (and sons) pride or common sense anymore? If your afraid to be pregnant you should respect the natural purpose of sex more, and keep your legs closed. As a parent, is anyone else appalled?

Michelle answers:

I could understand an occasional one asking but its like a 100 asking a day and they are all abot the same if they are so concerned they shouldnt have sex

Steven asks…

If u/someone u know have twins, how long did u/they wait to have another child?

I have 16 month old twins, and I feel like I’m fine with getting pregnant anytime after they turn 2. How old were ur twins when u decided to have another baby? Was it really hard after the baby was born or was it what u expected it to be like?

Also, do u know ne one who had natural twins and then got pregnant again with natural twins or higher order pregnancy? I have just been wondering how often this happens!

Michelle answers:

I had W & T September 05. They were born full term (ok 3 days early) no major complications, and were joys to raise.
We decided to have another baby 2 years later. R & C were born exactly 2.5 years later.
Yep, twins again.

My whole pregnancy and labour with R & C, was a disaster. I was sick, bed ridden or in hospital. They were born premature, and spend a bit of time in the hospital.
R & C turn 1yo on the 15th, and we are all finally settling into a routine. It’s been a real challenge (we also took Guardianship of our Godson -5yo – so that’s 5 under 5).
For us, our biggest problems have been the health risks, C has had a real tough start to life, but I think we are starting to see the light. I also was punished by my body after the second set was born. It has taken a lot to get it all back healthy, and honestly I am still struggling.

I know of 2 other people, one being my SIL who have 2 sets of twins. I am not sure how common it is, but it certainly likes us. We have Identical boys, both times, and all the other *double* multiple pregnancies I’ve seen are fraternal.
It was all natural conception here.

George asks…

has anyone ever had an unassisted birth?

I am 19 years old. I am not pregnant or anything, but I have always had a fascination with pregnancy and childbirth. I think its a beautiful thing. I recently came across an article on unassisted childbirth and I was shocked at how much negative responses it got. But I was also suprised to see how many people actually do it. I think its a perfectly natural and beautiful thing. I just want to hear your experiences if you have had a unassisted childbirth and your opinions on it. Thank you.

Michelle answers:

I am not sure if I would ever do one. I don’t plan on having anymore children. BUt I would be open to it. There are safety procedures that are in place for baby and mothers protection. I have researced it a bit and the mortality rate for baby is the same at being born in the hospital. There is obviously less of a chance of invasive procedures. I would defiantly consider it.

Your Questions About Natural Ivf

Steven asks…

WOW!!! Didnt think it would be this bad?

Well, I had natural IUI with donor sperm on October 12. I knew that the chance wasnt that high. I have no problems with fertility and ovulate on my own every month. DH is the fertility problem. Anyway AF came for me today and I never thought I could be so disappointed and hurt. This is only my first time TTC, but was really praying it would happen. We are not going to be able to afford to keep trying all kinds of things. I mean we are financially ok to have a child but if we drain our bank accounts then what. I am 31 and time is getting scarce with fertility. DH says that IVF is out of the question because of expenses and the risk of multiples. No way we could do multiples.
RE says we need to try a couple of IUI’s without medication because of my age and no fertility factors, but I dont think we will be able to do IUI’s for long. Has anyone been in the same predictament and do you think I should talk my doctor into giving me some medications to up my chances? Any help is appreciated and needed.

Thank you in advance if anyone helps

Michelle answers:

Honestly, to give yourself the best chance, I think you should do Clomid + IUI. Clomid will give you a couple more follicles than you make on your own and it will give them extra nourishment to really mature. Then you should add a trigger shot so that they all pop on ovulation day, not just one.

In the grand scheme of things, Clomid is the LEAST aggressive treatment. Your chances of multiples are less than 7%.

And Clomid is anywhere from $5.00 – $25.00 depending on where you get it. Again, in the grand scheme of fertility treatments, that’s really cheap.

Good luck.

James asks…

helllllllp me. DESPERATE for a BABY. husband seems NOT BOTHERED?

I’m a 26yr old female and myself and my husband are disputing this. Basically he wants me to wait to try for a baby until after I’ve completed a yr long education course that i am taking on next September. I do not want to wait this long. We have lots of money and hiring help is not an issue. I have a housekeeper and a nanny already. I just want to complete my family before i’m 30 and not end up being some sad old mum who has to revert to IVF (which we know doesnt work …ever) . I would hate to have to be so desperate as to pump my body full of drugs to do what is the most natural thing in the world for normal healthy woman. So hence, i do not want to delay this. Also i do not want some huge age gap between my children. They are 8yrs, 6yrs, 4yrs, 3yrs and an 18 month old. I’m just ready to make it no.5 NOW and perhaps finish my family at No. 6 by the time i’m 30, 31 AT MOST. Taking this on will not be a challenge. I have lots of support. The school and nursery is 5 mins walk from our home. My two sisters live around the corner, both stay at home mums. And i have a plethora of friends in the neighbourhood, all stay at home mums. Plus hired helps no problem, moneys not an issue. Whys my husband holding out?

Michelle answers:

Maybe cuz 5 is enough for him i would understand if u hadnt got any but u have 5 and like he said wait just alittle longer 1yr isnt bad than saying he doenst want anymore.so if i were u i would just be happy with what u have at the moment and listen what he says finish ur course which ur starting and then start trying…

Carol asks…

How do I handle the stress ?

I am really stressed and I don’t handle it very well, In the past few weeks I have constantly got head aches.. I have no idea how to handle the stress better, I am up to the point where It takes my breath away and I hypo ventilate and have like a panic attack. I have heaps of things going on in my life which is why I am sooo stressed out, just to name a few :
Money issues
Company my partner and I work for just lost the contract so might be out of a job.
We are TTC and I have blocked tubes, may have to have IVF, am going to the doctors about this.
Family troubles
Relationship troubles.

It’s really only in the last 6 months that it has got worse, is there any natural products that can help me? I’ve thought about going to see a councillor or something but I’m not very good at talking to people I don’t now, especially about personal stuff.

Thanks

Michelle answers:

Yes, you do have a lot going on that is stressful. Life can do that to you at times, so good stress management skills are critical. The serenity prayer (whether you are into praying or not) can be so helpful when you are bombarded with so many challenges. It goes “Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference” [If prayer is not your thing and it doesn’t set well with you to say “Lord”…you can omit that and use the rest as a mantra.]
This prayer gives you some great pointers on stress management. Recognize that you cannot control all the aspects of living, and you are one step closer to accepting those things. That frees you up to focus your energy on those things that you can change.

To work on those things you can change, goggle ‘relationship skills’. There are some great sites that offer worthwhile advice/guidance on building better relationships (with your partner, other family members and friends). Also a good idea to google ‘stress management’. The internet puts lots of information right at your fingertips.

As far as things you can take to calm you, there are plenty of options.

Chamomile tea is very soothing.

CalMag formulae are called the natural tranquilizer. Actually, the magnesium in the formula is what has a tranquilizing effect.

A good multi-vitamin, multi-mineral complex along with a B100 taken daily will strengthen your nervous system. Add an EFA (essential fatty acid), and you have a great trio for minimizing the impact of stress. It’s a good idea to eliminate junk foods as well…they deplete critical nutrients that leave the nervous system (the brain is part of the nervous system) floundering.

Forgot to include deep, deliberate breathing. When you are feeling extremely anxious, focus on your breath. Breathe slowly and deeply (it helps to put your hands over or on your head to open the ribcage and allow the air to flow deep into the lungs)…to a slow count of eight, hold to a slow count of four, then exhale slowly and evenly to a slow count of eight. Do this focused breathing for 3-5 minutes. It is very calming.

George asks…

TTC, irregular period?

I’ve had a MC around 9-10 months ago and ever since my husband and I have been ttc but without medical help(clomid/IVF)/ovulation kits and was thinking we’re either timing things wrong or I’m not ovulating on the right dates I think I am or I might not be ovulation every month.
We have sex like 2-3 times a week but around the time I’m “suppose to” be ovulating we try to do it every other day for a week or so.. Use a chart online that tells you the days that are good to conceive.
Tried the whole laying on back with pillow thing, yea that was a no go. Changing our diet a bit (eat healthier). I banned my husband from hot baths lol.. Haven’t tried any ovulation kits yet.. Just tried doing it the natural way of just timing it right. I just didn’t think I would have such a hard time getting preg. I didn’t know that trying to conceive for most couples was this hard, so I never really looked into kits and stuff but it’s been 9-10months and I’m thinking of doing something other then “timing things right”

Just wondering are these dates considered as irregular for periods? (dates mark day 1 of flow) Jan27, Feb 20, March 19, April 15, May 12, June 9, July 8 and today is the first of Aug I’m due to get it any day if I’m not preg.
Can someone tell me there experience with ovulation kits? And the best one to buy?
Thinking of waiting a bit longer to go to the doctor at least 12-14 months then I’ll go.

Thanks for reading 🙂
Any tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated

Michelle answers:

It actually seams pretty accurate maybe off a day or 2 a few times but nothing horrible. I would say if you completely miss a period during a month without being pregnant, that is when you should worry about irregularity. Try the ovulation kits, they really helped me! And they are just like taking pregnancy tests so they are non-invasive nor hormonal changing so I would consider them a natural form of predicting ovulation. Good luck and baby dust!

Your Questions About Natural Pregnancy Book

Joseph asks…

What happens during a c section for twins?

Ok so I’m due to have my twins around 11th July and I’ve got millions of questions. I know the best thing would be to ask my midwife but seen as though I’m not particularly fond of her or doubt I could hold her interest long enough to get answers thought I’d try to tap into past experiences of others.

1. Do they break your waters before taking you into theatre or will that be dealt with once they’re in?

2. Will they take the placenta out or will I be expected to deliver this?

3. I hear epidurals pretty much numb out most of the pain but what will I be able to feel?

4. Will I be able to breast feed the twins straight away as I would with a natural single delivery?

Some of these questions might seem simple but I just like to know. Was really lucky with first pregnancy as the delivery was text book and I’m gearing myself up for torture cos I know it won’t be the same (although still hoping it’s as easy as the first time and won’t actually need a section)

The twins are still moving far too much at 30 weeks to say if gonna need a section, but figure best be prepared 🙂

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Michelle answers:

Ive had 3 c-sections and This August will be my 4th… They will take the placenta out during your surgery, and break your water aswell..
The epidural looks painful and intimidating but doesn’t hurt a bit! And you will feel nothing from under your breast down.. You will feel the touch of the doctors and nurses during your c-section, and the pull of your skin.. But there is no pain at all.. You will be able to breast feed your baby right after wards, same as if you delivered vaginally.. Congradulations and Good luck!

Mary asks…

Will I still be able to do this naturally if baby doesnt come early!!??

I am about to be 38 weeks on Tuesday, and my baby is already measuring over 8 lbs. I have been very headstrong this whole pregnancy about wanting to have a natural waterbirth, and the closer it gets and the more miserable I become, I am freaking myself out about it and thinking that if he waits two more weeks, he will be too big for me to do it naturally. I know the worst thing I can do is stress over it, and Ive tried every old wives tale in the book to make him come early (yea right lol). Is there anything else I can do to make having a natural birth still a possibility or hurry things along!?

Michelle answers:

He will come when he is ready or when your body is ready. Don’t stress about it. My 1st pregnancy was 9lbs 9.5 ozs and my 2nd was 10 lbs 11.5 ozs. You will be able to do it!

Good luck and Best wishes!

Donna asks…

How can I prepare for breastfeeding ahead of time?

I’m planning on trying to get pregnant within the next two years sometime, I’m already on a prenatal and taking metformin for my pcos. At heart I am a compulsive researcher and I’ve read every book out there that I can get my hands on about conception, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and breastfeeding. My library has four books on breastfeeding and I finished them all. I’ve also talked to a group of woman who have breastfed, and I watched them do so, as well as videos too. Now I’d like to know how else can I prepare? I’d like a natural delivery but breastfeeding my kids is a billion times more important to me than even that. I just knw i hear its very difficult. Any advice?

Michelle answers:

Forget that it’s difficult, it’s not, it’s very easy as long as you nurse as soon as possible and often.

It takes just as much time and trouble as bottle feeding, but it’s always available and doesn’t require equipment or refrigeration either, what could be simpler?

Sandra asks…

A few c-section questions?

If your small and very tone, you had a natural birth before then lost the baby weight in 4 days like the nurses told me if they weren’t there they wouldn’t beleive i was my daughters mom i was tone and tiny and this was her 5 day check up. I went from a size 3 to a 0 and im like 4’11” super petite. Then on my second (hypothetically) i get a c-section just curious not worried, what are my chances of having a cecarian gut and how hard are they to loose? Im pregnant again just 7wks but im reading more about pregnancy this time around and i’m curious to know things, im not worried i will have a c-section as my first was natural but im wanting to know real live answers not text book ones just for my own knowledge. Thanks alot in advance.

Well first off your very lucky to get back into shape so fast. I have only had c section never a natural birth but it has taken me time to get back into shape and the lower part of my stomach does not seem to want to get tight anymore but i think that everyone is a little different and even with a c section because you where so easily back in shape with natural birth if you where to have a c section it would probably be that same way for you.
